Java Beans System.out.println Log file

Helllo,
I have Forms 11.1.2 installed on linux. I developed a java bean and put some System.out.println() statements. The bean itself is working but where do i look for the debug statement logs that i am generating via System.out.println() statements.
Please let me know if you need more information, I will post asap.

thanks, added the following line to the implementation class in java bean:
private final static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(MyBean.class.getName());
and then in the init() method, i put
logger.info("Prasad .... in init);
Does this automatically goes into weblogic managed server WLS_FORMS (in my case) standard out?
Or do i need to do anything else, i know weblogic comes up with its own diagnostic logging and is famous for supressing other loggers.... just want to run this by you as well.

I am using Oracle 9ias 9.0.3 java edition.
I have deployed a war file successfully using EM.
i HAVE System.out.println statements in my servlets. I was unable to find any documents which tell me where these statements will be logged?

Go to server properties page of OEM and edit OC4J options under Command Line Options. You will have to specify the OC4J option -out filename to capture the System.out messages. You can also specify the option -err filename to capture all the errors.

Where do Java Embedding "System.out.println()" go? Where is Java Console?

Assume I embed a "Java Embedding" object in a BPEL process
and write the following Java code into it:
System.out.println("Hello BPEL");
where does this text go when executed? If I remember it well there must be somewhere an AppServer console.
But where is it exactly ?

Hi Peter,
The out stream is generally redirect into files in applications servers.
OC4J : $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/<your_group>~<your_home_name>~<your_group>~1.log
WebSphere : $LOG_ROOT/SystemOut.log
JBoss : $SERVER_LOG_ROOT/server.log

You may be looking for the stdout/stderr process output.
Almost all components in Oracle Application Server 10g
(9.0.4) are managed (at the process level) by OPMN. To
preserve the stdout and stderr of every process, all
processes started by OPMN have their stdout/stderr
redirected to a file (one file for each running process).
This file is sometimes referred to as the "console log".
Console logs are located in $OH/opmn/logs and have a
filenames containing '~' chars. Identifying which
console log file is associated with which process
should be intuitive.
When a process terminates and is replaced by a new
process, console log output from the previous process is
preserved and the replacement process appends to the
end of the console log file.

System.out.println and log file

          I am developing jsp on BEA Weblogic 613 on Solaris.
          What if i run the following statement
          System.out.println("Hello world");
          I understand that Hello World will be printed to the server console. I do not
          have access to this console. Is there any log file or temporary log file it gets
          sent to? If not, is there anyway to redirect output from the console to someplace
          else?

You can redirect console output for stdout on Solaris like so:
          java weblogic.Server > consoleoutput.txt
          then in a terminal window you can see whats going on with
          tail -f consoleoutput.txt

System.out.println in which log file

          We are using weblogic 51 server.
          We have System.out.println's in the servlets but don't see
          it in any log file. Which log file would/should
          it go to.


If you are running a shell script (not as as service) you will see it in
          that shell window, if you run it without a console window (service), you
          usually see nothing.
          If you are using a third party tool to run the server as a service (e.g.
          ServiceMill for Win2k/NT) you usually can set files where you would like
          your output to be redirected.
          If you run the server as a service and don't have this option you can do
          it yourself by setting System.setErr / System.setOut, e.g. in a
          startup-class

I call System.out.println in some components in web dynpro java. But I cannot find the standard console output file of SAP J2EE Engine. Anyone know where is the location of standard output file?

System.out.println statements inside my session beans

I have some System.out.println statements inside my session beans to track some error conditions. I would like to know where this output will be printed. Is there any text file I should look for or start up any console to see the output.
I am running iPlanet SP3 test drive edition iPlanet Web Server 4.1 on WIndows NT machine.

Hi,
These statements will be printed on the kjs logs file. To view them, go to control panel-> services-> select the iPlanet Application server and click "start up" tab. Check " allow this sevice to interact with the desk top" in the service window that has been popped up. Restart the iPlanet Application server.
View the kjs window. All your System.out.println statements will be printed out there.

Redirect system.out.println() to a file

hi all,
how can i redirect all the console prints to a txt file in java application? i have used system.out oftenly in many class throught the
application. is there any way to redirect all those console prints to a
txt file by converting or assigning the System.out stream to a stream for filewriter or
somthing like that, so that whenever system.out.println() is executed
the content is written to a file insted of on the console.

Actually,System.setOut(new PrintStream(new FileOutputStream("output.txt"), true));
System.setErr(System.out);since setOut wants a PrintStream and not just some OuputStream...

Print System.out.println messages into logs of Weblogic Application Server

Hi,
I use Weblogic Application Server 10.3.6 on Windows 7. The Enterprise Application (J2EE) is deployed into the 'AdminServer' of Weblogic. For debugging purpose, I have added a few System.out.println statements.
I am unable to see the print messages on any of log files available in path 'user_projects > domains > base_domain > servers > AdminServer > logs'. However, I can see them on the 'command' prompt which was used to start the server. How can I get them into one of the log files? What am I missing?
I tried reading other threads on the forum and as per them 'System.out.println' gets logged onto *.out logs which I am unable to find. Only base_domain.log, AdminServer.log, access.log are available in the location.
More Specifics:
Configuration on WLS console 'Home > Servers > AdminServer > Logging'
Log file name: logs/AdminServer.log
Min. Severity to log: Notice (tried with Debug as well)
Advanced Options:
Logging Implementation: JDK
Redirect stdout logging enabled: False (tried both options)
Log file Severity Level: Notice (tried with Debug as well)
Standard Out Severity Level: Notice (tried with Debug as well)

I just found this on google:
'Generally, developers put a lot of System.out.println statements in their code to perform application debugging. Normally, all standard outputs and error outputs are routed to the console where the OC4J server is started. If you want to capture the standard output and error outputs to files for logging/debugging purposes, then you can use the -out and -err options while starting up the Oc4J server to specify which files to use.'.

I was just wondering how System.out.println() worked so i opened up the src.zip file and checked the source code. But could not understand it. As written i remember
"out is an object encapsulated in the System class."
Thats ok. But i could not understand the code.

Where do my debugging messages sent to System.out.println go?
In my other installations of netbeans they went to a window in the IDE but I can't find them with JSC 2.

you can use System.out.println("") to write something in output (which in web applications it is web application log file)
also in creator you can use log("") to write something in output which again is the log file.
you can view the log file by right click on server / view log file

System.out.println in jar files

hi i have created by jar file all works fine it is a swing application and is some places for debugging i have used System.out.println but when run my jar file and it should print out somthing o System.out.println it dose not how do i get this to work... if it can on windows.

Previous is correct, but not always the easiest.
Sysouts go to the java console. In IE, View / Java Console. In netscape, Tools / Web Development / Java Console.
