Java for PI 7.1 EHP1 in Windows and SQL Server 2008

Hi Gurus
I try to install PI 7.1 EHP1 in Windows and SQL Server 2008. The questions is :
What version of java is the correct for this installation???
And where i can download it??
Thanks and advance!!!

Hi Aaron,
The version for PI 7.1 is 1.5, instead of the 1.4.2 of 7.0/3.0.
Anyway, for VM settings, you should refer to SAP JVM, which
is used for the PI 7.11.
Hope it helps!

  • Compatability:  CR 2008, VS 2005 and SQL Server 2008 on WINDOWS 7

Crystal Reports 2008,  Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2008 all play nice together on a VISTA or XP box.  But we cannot get a connection when we switch the OS to WIN 7.   I tried to get a connection via the report designer.  Is this combination of technologies currently supported?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Jeff;
See the [Platforms|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/00225757-ab5c-2c10-c1a8-fb9f9f0f4ac2] document for CR 2008. You need Service Pack 2 to run on Windows 7.
If you already have SP 2, then what happens when you try to make a connection?

  • Is it possible to create a two node cluster with SQL server 2012 STD on node1 and SQL Server 2008 ENT on node2 on a Windows server 2012?

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create a two node cluster with SQL server 2012 STD on node1 and SQL Server 2008 ENT on node2 on a Windows server 2012?
    aa

I think you are confused with the way cluster is installed. Installing SQL on cluster is a two step process. On first node you create a new SQL cluster and on second node you need "AddNode" action.
Same edition media has to be used in above two operation.
you can install two separate instances with one enterprise and one standard.

  • Error on setup failover cluster with Windows 2008 R2 enterprise and SQL Server 2008 R2 (also with SP1)

    Hi!
The setup process fails with this error:
      Configuration error code:
    0x1C2074D8@1216@1
Configuration error description: There was an error setting private property 'VirtualServerName' to value 'CLUSTER02' for resource 'SQL Server'.  Error: Value does not fall within the expected range.
I have found some hints by google, but nothing really helpfull.
Has anyone had a simular problem when installing SQL server 2008 R2?
All posts I found are about sql server 2008 (no R2!).
The cluster itself is working (storage, network, msdtc, quorum...).
    Any hints?

    Hi Andreas Plachy,
Please make sure that the Virtual Server Name ‘CLUSTER02’ is unique on the network. In addition, are there any resources named ‘SQL Server’ on the Windows cluster? If that is the case, you may need to rename the related resources to avoid conflicting with
    SQL Server, and try again.

  • Windows Installer - SQL Server 2008 Express Errors

I am working with an application that was developed for an XP machine.  One of my peers took the old Windows application and using Visual Studio 2010 upgraded the application to work on a Windows 7 machine.  We are creating the installer (.exe
and .msi) files within Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, but we are having different issues on different machines that we try to run the setup.exe file on.
On our company computers with Windows 7, the setup.exe file runs and works properly.
On our customers computer with Windows 7, received the following error: "an error occurred attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1."
On non-company/non-customer machines, we tried two Windows 7 machines.  One machine had no issues and everything installed perfectly and the other received this error: "Component SQL Server 2008 Express has failed to install."
User pressed Yes to reboot the computer.
After the reboot, the setup.exe file was run and there were no more errors.  The application was installed properly.
Within the Installer we have four boxes checked under Properties - Prerequisites:
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (x86 and x64)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (x86 and x64)
    SQL Server 2008 Express
    Windows Installer 3.1
If anyone can help with why the installer is causing issues on some computers and not on others as well as why the issues by computer are different that would be very helpful!
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Please refer to this article for troubleshooting installation of
    SQL Server Express:

Check Summary.txt in the <SQLInstallFolder>\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log and see if you need to apply the Hotfix in the
    KB 957453.

  • Which Laptop is good for VS 2012/2013 and SQL SERVER 2008 R2 /2012 ?

    Hi,
I am planing to buy a laptop.
I am gonna be using mostly for Visual sStudio 2013 and Sql Server 2012 .
    my budget is $1000.
confuse between DELL/ HP / LENOVO..!!!
    please help.

This is only a personal taste of mine:
I prefer to work in Virtual Machines. In fact I did set up a VM just for my programming. This has the advantage that games and other stuff are not slowed down by SQL Server Services and similiar stuff.
This also allows me to quickly make a small virtual networks with multiple clients if I need to test some client/server stuff.
Plus I am also a bit of an adminstrator and prefer to test stuff in VM's before I try them in the real world.
I prefer using Virtual Box for Virtual Machines, so one thing of big importance was support for VT-X/AMD-V. Without them Virtual Box cannot run x64 guests even on a x64 host system.
Otherwise I wanted Windows 8 (so I could finally learn to live with it/learn programming for it's UI). And of big importance was an upgrade of gaming ability (my old one had difficulty/impossibility to run most current games).
So I bought a x64, Win8 Gaming Laptop with 8 GiB RAM (so I can run 3-6 Windows 7 hosts in paralell) and looked that the CPU supported Hardware Virtualsiation.
Otherwise pretty much every current laptop will work. x64 OS might be prefereable, as .NET has some limitations under x32/x86 OS (like the
2 GiB limit). Multicore (2 or more) is pretty much the state of the art (are there still any single core CPU's out there?).
It of course needs to be a Windows (7 or 8) to support VS. New Laptops should have UEFI (all that are sold with Windows 8 have).
If you do not need a lot of storage, using a SSD instead of a HDD will propably speed up startups (Windows, Programms) and compilation times a lot (those are disk-heavy operations) - but I only know that it should and heard of people who have them.
Let's talk about MVVM: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/b1a8bf14-4acd-4d77-9df8-bdb95b02dbe2 Please mark post as helpfull and answers respectively.

    Hi NickDeNora,
According to your description, we need to verify if you install
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and
correct the manifest file. The manifest file is readable (although empty), but we cannot edit it (even if you are an administrator). Only SYSTEM has access to the file. So to be able to edit it, you must first take ownership of
it and grant ACLs. After saving the file, then run the setup again.

I see that datasource explorer.  But where can I get to the datasource window to edit my queries and so forth for sql server 2008 (R2)?
    Thanks
    Rich P

I think I found the answer to my question --- just right-click on the the Data Sources or Datasets for editing connections and dataset queries.  I'm guessing it gets even fancier with Sql Svr 2012 - 2014.    Man, that's the one thing
about coding platforms -- you let it go for a few years and come back, and everything has changed (well, a lot of things).  Now I need to figure out how to add an external assembly to SSRS 2008 (R2).

  • Windows 8 and IE 10 crashed after printing from Report Manager SQL server 2008 / 2008 R2

We have a problem with Windows 8 in combination with IE 10 and printing reports.
When we print a report from the Report Manager 'http://<servername>/reports' the browser crashed after a print.
Sometimes before printing and somthimes after printing or when you close the browser.
Al other operating systems like XP, Vista, Windows 7 with different IE versions have no problem.
I tried the report manager from SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
The same error occured when printing from our Internet application and the reportviewer.
(ASP application written in Visual Studio 2010 and reportviewer version 10.)
The event log shows two different messages.

Is there a fix for this problem?

    Dear Mike Yin,
Thank you for your response. Your answer was the
reason for finding the real problem.
In december 2010 a SQL Server 2008 fix was the cause. I don't remember exactly the problem, but we changed the RSCLIENTPrint-x86.cab file. But instead to use the version of SQL Server 2008 we used the version of SQL Server 2008
    R2 (10.50.1600.1). This worked until
Windows 8 (Internet Explorer crashed when printing).
We fixed this problem by using the RSClientPrint-x86.cab file from SQL server 2008 (10.0.5500.0).
But we now get the known problem that the
activeX always must be installed again.
The reason for this is that the version of
    the SQL Server (10.0.5512.0)
and the rsclientprint.dll (10.0.5500.0) is different. SQL Server is newer (caused
    by a security patch (KB2716436)).
Do you know when this problem will be resolved
    by Microsoft?
    Work arrounds
I've also tried to install the RSClientprint.dll
every time automatically (without user interaction).
But this will be delayed the printing for more
    than 4 seconds. This
    is very annoying.
Another workaround is to generate a PDF and print the PDF. But this is also
    a lot slower.
Uninstall the security patch. but I don't know the security risk.

  • Install SQL Server 2008 R2 in Windows Server 2012 using SQL4SAP Script

    Hi guys,
Since we are performing a SAP System Migration from older releases of Windows/SQL Server, as detailed on SAP Note
1780433 - System copy of SAP systems on Windows 2012 : SQL Server
We need to install SQL Server 2008 R2 before upgrading the system
When running SQL4SAP Script it states the following
    17/03/2014 08:13:44 p.m.
    Message Box "Windows version error"
OS Family "WindowsNT6.3" is not supported by this script.
    Result: vbOK
On Windows 2012 should i run the SETUP instead the script?
    Thanks!

    Hi Sunny
Im following SAP Note 1780433 - System copy of SAP systems on Windows 2012 : SQL Server
in order to migrate a SAP 640 system from Windows 2003/SQL Server 2005 to Windows 2012/ SQL Server 2012
    Reason and Prerequisites
This note describes how to migrate the mentioned SAP products to Windows 2012/SQL Server 2008 R2,
in order to prepare an upgrade to SAP releases based on NW 7.0 and higher.
Note, that only SAP upgrade paths are supported, that are supported by the SUM tool. For more
information about the upgrade paths supported by SUM, read the Central SUM Note referred to at
    http://www.service.sap.com/SLToolset.
Immediately after the SAP upgrade, your database has to be upgraded to SQL Server 2012. SAP does in general not support SQL Server releases prior to SQL Server 2012 on Windows 2012.
I understand this is not supported from Productive system, we are performing this on a Development system for test purposes.
Nevertheless on the note says Install First SQL Server 2008 R2 and after SAP upgrade, perform upgrade of SQL Server Upgrade, so there is misleasing information.
Im not sure if a 640 System would be able to copied and upgraded in Windows 2012/SQL Server 2012
It doesnt mention that 640_EX2 Kernel Support SQL Server 2012 to install the system.
How would yo recommend a system copy restoring database on these conditions?
    640 System (SQL Server 2005,Win 2003) --> 640 System (SQL Server 2012, Win 2012)
    (and then Upgrading to 740)
    Thanks

  • It is compatible Obi 11g  with Windows Server  2012 and Sql Server 2012?

    Hi every
    Please help with two questions.
    1. - Obi 11g is supported on Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012?
There a compatibility matrix which mention compatibility with versions 2012?
    2. - is feasible to install Obi 11g in separate server and install weblogic on another server?
    I appreciate the prompt response
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
As of November 2012 Compatibility Matrix released by Oracle for OBI 11.1.1.x Windows 2012 and SQL Server 2012 were not supported. It was supported on 2008 Windows and SQL Server.
We can have weblogic and OBI server's on 2 different machines. The approach is to opt software only install. the link below will give more details:
    http://obieeelegant.blogspot.com/2012/07/obiee111160-software-only-installation.html
Let me know if this helped.
    Regards,
    Jay
