Java number format exception for BI Publisher query

I have a data model thats working using one rtf template. Then I created a cross tab query rtf template and when the same data model is executed with the same parameter value, it errors out.
here is my simple rtf template that I defined:
     for: ITEM_KEY end -->1
for: ITEM_KEY-->2 for: ITEM_KEY end end --> 3
For better understanding, 1 is defined as columns of my cross tab, 2 as rows of my cross tab and 3 is the data. I am using version 10.1.3.4ver BIP
Any help regarding the error is appreciated..
Thanks in advance

  • Number format issue in XML Publisher from OAF (',.' is replaced by 'u n')

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem in XML Publisher report. In report I need to display some number fields with 'USD' format. In RTF, data type 'Number' and format '###,##0.00' is selected. If I run concurrent program from oracle core forms using System Administrator > Concurrent > Request, I am able to get correct number format.
    Ex : 123456.00 After Number format : 123,456.00
    Also its working fine from XML Publisher Administrator responsibility (using Preview).
    But problem is when I submit the concurrent request through OAF, I am not getting correct data. ',' is replace by 'u' and '.' is replace by 'n'.
    Ex: 123456.00 In Report 123u456n00
    Checked profile value : ICX: Numeric Character and its set to 1,000.00 at site level.
    Do I need to set character set anywhere in OAF before calling concurrent program?
    I tried to use "alter session set nls_numeric_character = ',.';" by calling stored procedure from OAF. But still its not working.
    Please give me solution for this.
    Regards,
    Sadanand

    Hell - I am running into the same issue? Did you guys find a resolution for this? Please let me know, would really appreciate your help.
    Thanks,

  • Java number formats?

    Hi.
    I am writing a program which contains a simple division code. The operation divides a word's frequency in a file by the number of words in that file. This is a code strip
    wordCount = wordsInFile(file2); //number of words in file is obtained from a static method
    String w = wordFreq.get(i).toString(); // I get the frequency of the word from an array list
    double wf = Double.parseDouble(w);
    double normalFreq = wf/wordCount;problem is that sometimes this program produces numbers like this : 8.025682182985554E-4
    I have no idea what this means and how to fix it. Is there a specific number format that I should use to avoid this?
    Thanks!

    YoraeTake a look at java.text.DecimalFormat
    double normalFreq = wf/wordCount;
    DecimalFormat df = new DecimalFormat("#.##");
    String output = df.format(normalFreq);
    System.out.println("The formatted double is " + output);This should truncate any digits after the second decimal place (I think it rounds it for you but I havent checked).

    Hi There,
    We are evaluating Coherence for our requirements and I am quite impressed with filtering, near cache, etc
    We are running on Windows XP, 3GB RAM, jdk1.6.0_04 and tests are simple – 2 cache instances and one instance of ExtendTcpCacheService sitting between client and distributed cache.
    It just fly’s when inserting/putting about 20k rows/objects in to cache but doesn’t seem to fly for more data.

  • Number format settings for address book

    The format settings in the Address Book preferences does not seem to work properly.
    I selected the "Phone" icon, checked the "Automatically format phone numbers" box, and selected the "+1 (123) 456-7890" format.
    When I add a new number using the "+" in the contact form and enter the number, it puts the number in the "(123) 456-7890" format.
    If I uncheck the "Automatically format...." box, the format of a new entry will be "1234567890". I can never get it to add the "+1" in front of the number.
    In order to utilized the "Call with Skype" feature when Skype is loaded, it requires the "+1" prepended to the number.
    This is most annoying, since I had to go in and edit 100+ contact numbers to add the "+1".
    Any suggestions?

  • Ignore blank lines in text file using number format exception.

    hi.. does anyone know how to ignore a blank line and move on to the next line? the text file contains:
    2
    bla bla bla
    112.4
    222.5
    ble ble vle
    115.5
    123.2

    The problem with trim() is that it only trims spaces (0x20). In a source code file, "blank" lines are as likely to contain TABs as spaces. I would recommend something like   if (line.length() == 0 || line.matches("\\s+")) If the inefficiency of matches() becomes a problem, you can use a pre-compiled Pattern object, or roll your own isItWhitespace() method.

  • Date and Number formatting

    Hi All
    I am getting data from RFC and able to bind it into table. Now I want to format date and numbers into user logged in format. i.e. If user enters country as Germany while registration,date format should be European in table displayed otherwise it should be US format.
    Can any one suggest me how to do it?

    Thanks for your your Help Abhilash. I slightly changed code and now its working. I think this is almost same thing that you discussed.You can see code below.
    Can you help in working with Number  format also? I am getting number format exception. String returned when RFC executed is in 10,000,00. I need to change according to user locale format. I tried doing it in java also. When I remove commas in above string its working fine.
    public java.lang.String DisplayingDateFormat( java.lang.String date )

  • Number Format in Grid Cell

    I can't get a SQLDataType=8 cell to format with comma separators (ie, 9,999,999).  Have the number format options changed in 12.0?  I can't find the reference table in the Help Docs.  The table in the 11.5 help docs is here (file:///C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/LighthammerCMS/Help/popups/NumberFormatPopup.htm).

    Nothing changed much other than the WB, it's still the basic java number formatting options (which is probably why the help doc popup looks a bit like a javadoc).
    I believe the WB has a bug when setting and retrieving a nested comma in the ColumnFormats property, which itself is a comma separated DT property.
    Use something like this in your PARAM's:
    0.00,#^^#0.00,MM/dd/yy  (just use the double carat for any nested comma and leave the commas to denote column breaks in the list).

  • Portal Form: Number Format Mask Accepted Values

    Hi, i'm trying to format the way numbers are displayed in our forms, specifically instead of 50,000.00 we want 50,000 - without the .00.
    I cannot find anything on format masks in the portal documentation, and the standard oracle masks I have looked up such as "NNNN" etc don't seem to be supported.
    Trial and error has yielded a mask of : 99,999,999 which does get rid of the decimal, but introduces a problem where if the value is smaller than the mask it is shifted into the middle of the field (leading spaces are being added for every missing unit that is specified in the mask), but obviously if a smaller mask definition is used then larger numbers appear as ###### which is worse than the leading zero problem.
    Where in the documentation can I find the accepted forms of numerical number format masks for use in portal forms?
    Thanks..

    Let me know if you find a solution to this. I even asked my Oracle instructor and she couldn't tell me how to setup a date format mask. This is what she gave me which doesn't work, but I'm not saying I'm the quickest race car at the track. lol
    "Hi,
    Try the following format mask "("099")""-"099"-"0999. They have an example of this on page 7-12. I'm not sure if OTN may have a listing of any Forms format mask. Search under Forms Developer and see if you find anything.
    Take care,
    L"

  • Java.sql exception for rs.nesxt() ( nested statements)

    I have a problem with java.sql.I am getting an Invalid handle exception for nested result sets ...
    example:-
    //Conn is the common connection
    Statement s1 = conn.createStatement();
    rs1 = s1.executeQuery(query1);
    while (rs.next){
    Statement s2 = conn.createStatement();
    rs2= s2.executeQuery(query2)
    while (rs2.next){
    The rs2 resultset works fine,but when it gets back into the outer while loop the exception is thrown.
    I know that the problem is becuase the nested statements are usign the same connection.
    I know of two ways to work around this
    (1) use different connections
    (2) remove nesting (save the result rs1,and then retrieve rs2)
    But I wnated to know if anyone knows of any other way to work around this problem.
    let me know.
    Thanks.

    Each connection has a single storage area for iteration, metadata, etc. Obviously you are aware that outer loop is unable to proceed because iteration data is of a different format from the inner sql query. It is not a good idea to do more than a single, or small set of queries on a single connection object. Would you consider a connection pool? They are not for the timid programmer, but they do take advantage of using connection objects much like pointers, with the ability to pop them into and out of a collection, ready to roll once the connection object is setup and ready for action much like a pointer that is properly assigned can be passed and always ready for action. The entire connection object (and metadata) is stored in the collection data structure. My advice is to keep it simple! It is easy to get too carried away with connection pools.

  • Reseting page number in Word RTF template for BI Publisher PDF generation

    Hi!
    Apex 4.0.2, Oracle 10.2.0.4, BIP 10.2
    Bills are created based on Word RTF file with BI Publisher. Reszulting file is one big PDF file, which has many pages.
    Word RTF template is grouped on BILLS.ID field with page break option. So one BILLS.ID may have one or many pages (according data).
    How to create RTF template (for PDF BI Publisher generation) with reseting page numbers when grouping value change.
    Page numbers are in footer in format
    curr_group_page/total_group_pages
    where:
    curr_group_page is current page number in group (defined with BILLS.ID field),
    total_group_pages is total page number of pages in group (defined with BILLS.ID field).
    I need to reset numbering whenever BILLS.ID (group) change.
    Example:
    ID=1 (4 pages)
    1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4
    ID=2 (1 pages)
    1/1
    ID=3 (2 pages)
    1/2, 2/2
    ID=4 (3 pages)
    1/3, 2/3, 3/3
    etc.
    How to achieve that kind of numbering?
    Any help appreciated.

    Simple question.. Does your posting deal with an APEX issue or a BI Publisher issue? The posting you have deals with the RTF add-on for Word that builds report layouts for BI Publisher. I suggested in my response that you move it to a more relevant forum..
    If you feel that me alerting you to the fact your are VIOLATING forum policy is an issue, please feel free to ask others their view.. (posting to a 3 year old closed thread, creating MULTIPLE threads for a single issue..) You do NOT seem to get the idea that posting this in the Bi Publisher support forum would probably get you a BETTER response than here.. Asking pl/sql questions here will also get people to refer your questions to the PL/Sql Support forum..
    Also, here is a POSSIBLE answer from the BI Publisher Forum: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=594805
    This Is The APEX SUPPORT forum, we deal with SUPPORT questions on APEX (Application Express)..

    You know, I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.

  • Can we handle exceptions for the expressions in select query?

    Hi all,
    Can we handle exceptions for the expressions in select query.
    I created a view, there I am extracting a substring from a character data and expected that as a number.
    For example consider the following query.
    SQL> select to_number( substr('r01',2,2) ) from dual;
    TO_NUMBER(SUBSTR('R01',2,2))
    1
    Here we got the value as "1".
    Consider the following query.
    SQL> select to_number( substr('rr1',2,2) ) from dual;
    select to_number( substr('rr1',2,2) ) from dual
    ORA-01722: invalid number
    For this I got error. Because the substr returns "r1" which is expected to be as number. So it returns "Invalid number".
    So, without using procedures or functions can we handle these type of exceptions?
    I am using Oracle 10 G.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Maximum number of conditions and exceptions possible in a query

    Hi Gurus,
    I would like to know where it is possible to create more than a single exception or condition in a query.  If it is possible, then are there any other implications that may result as far as data is concerned?
    Also, is there a limit on the number of exceptions and conditions one can create in a single query?
    Thanks
    Deepthi

    Dear Deepthi,
    You can use exceptions to evaluate one or all key figures (structure elements) in your query definition. If you want to use exceptions selectively on specific key figures in your query definition, you have to define an exception for each key
    figure accordingly.
    On the Display tab of the exception definition you have control over which cells of an analysis receive the color for the determined alert level. If you select the checkbox for Exception Affects Data Cells, then the following choices can be made
    Key Figure Choice Result
    Evaluated Structure Element
    The structure element chosen on the Definition tab will
    be the one to receive the color assigned to the alert level.
    All Structure Elements
    Regardless of which structure element is being evaluated
    in the exception, all structure elements will receive the
    color assigned to the alert level.
    Following Structure Element
    With this setting, you can evaluate one structure element,
    but then apply the color of the alert level to a different
    structure element.
    If the checkbox for Exception Affects Characteristic Cells is selected, then you can select from the following options:
    Characteristic Cell Choice Result
    Rows
    The color of the alert level determined by the exception
    is applied to the characteristic values in the row where
    the exception occurs.
    Columns
    The color of the alert level determined by the exception
    is applied to the characteristic value in the column where
    the exception occurs.
    Rows and Columns
    The color of the alert level determined by the exception
    is applied to the characteristic value in both the column
    and row where the exception occurs.
    Hope this information helps u...
    Assign points if needful...
