Java Proxies in PI 7.1 SP7

Hi,
we are trying to work with java proxies, (we are using PI 7.1 SP7)
while generating the proxies using Tools->Java Proxy Generation, below message gets displayed:
There are two versions of Java proxy generation that differ in the programming model:
1. The Java proxy generation in the ES Builder that will not be supported in later releases. It is only to be used for small adjustments of service interfaces in the ES Repository that were created because of the automatic migration of message interfaces of an Integration Repository (XI 3.0 or SAP NetWeaver 7.0) in the ES Repository. The Java proxes created with this proxy generation support the same programming model as in XI 3.0 and SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
2. The Java proxy generation in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio that you use for new developments or for larger adaptation sof already existing service itnerfaces. The Java proxies created using this proxy generation introduce a new programming model.
what is the meaning of this message?
is it not recommended to create java proxies in PI 7.1 using ESR->Tools->"Java proxy generation". is there any different procedure for  pi 7.1 java proxies.
thanks,
Madhu.

Yes. That is correct. You should use the Java Proxy Generation inside ESR only for updates of migrated PI 7.0 Java Proxies.
For new development use the Java Proxy generation of the NWDS. This will create EJB 3.0 proxies which are incompatible to PI 7.0 Java proxies. Java proxies created inside NWDS can run on any SAP Java system 7.1, an adapter engine is not required.

No need to change the java code, but you have to redeploy the java proxy.

    - New Proxies have to be created in NetWeaver Developer Studio
    - Some JPR 3.0 classes are not available for JEE 5-based proxies, for example
    com.sap.aii.proxy.xiruntiume.core.MessageSpecifier
    - XI 3.0 proxy-specific features (like acknowledgements) cannot be used
So it seems that the new Java proxies do not allow acknowledgements.

  • Learning Java proxies - landscape question

    Hi guys,
I could use a little help to learn Java Proxies, I'm just starting to get familiar with Java, I'm coming from the ABAP side.
First and foremost what do I need from the system point view?
We have an XI box and using file/FTP/IDoc adapters and also ABAP Proxies, I wrote some Java (mapping)functions, I am familiar with these.
But for a Java proxy, I would need a separate Java server(?) to run the application on, is this correct?
Can I use my own PC for this? (for learning purposes), I have NWDS installed on my PC.
What are the steps to write a small simple Java Proxy.
I would very much appreciate some help, guys, how do I start?
    Thanks a lot,
    Viktor

    Hi Viktor,
You can work from your own machine. Becuase in Java Proxy scenarios, you are deploying EAR files in the XI server, and thru XI , you are executing the method written in the Java Application.

  • Java maping and java proxies

    Hi
Can i use in the java mapping proxies classes generated for interfaces?
Or i can get in trouble because of library reference.
    Florin

Proxies are essentially the APIs, or the programming lines of code, that are generated for the target application language like ABAP/JAVA/.Net.
In some of the real time applications, each time it's not necessary to have particular Business Systems for send/ receive messages with SAP XI.
Sap XI provides diff. options to generate interfaces with ABAP / Java Applications such as as Proxies.
    <b>ABAP Proxy :</b>
    1. With ABAP proxy generation function it will be possible to generate ABAP proxy objects to an SAP system from an interface description in the SAP Exchange Infrastructure Integration Repository.
    2. ABAP proxy objects can only be generated for SAP systems that are based on SAP Web Application Server 6.40.
If you use ABAP Proxy , you can reduce the overhead calling the function again and again.

  • Inetgrating MDM Java API's with Java proxies on XI side

    Hello friends
Can anyone help me on integrating MDM JAVA API's used for talking to MDM Server and the Javaproxies we generate from the XI side.I am having an application class inside the Java API's (it contains the main function)which triggers the functionality on the MDM side. But how to trigger it from the Java proxies side??I can get the different fields that I have to send  in the impl.java program of my generated proxy, but how to trigger the MDM Java API's from inside this. Also there is one problem I needed to pass the datatype fields from the Javaproxy(XI)side to the CRUDMAINTABLERecord program..Since importing the javaproxy package is giving me an error(I don't know why)I don't know how to pass these datatypes to the CRUD program. Please help me out on this urgently.Thank you all in advance.

    Hi ,
I found a document which says that MDM4J is the legacy API and is considered deprecated .The MDM Java API is the new one .I have both of them in the java build path . I am not sure if this is that cause of the problem .
Now I had a look at the javadoc for the new API but I am not able to locate the class to obtain a connection to the MDM server from a custom application being built in Netweaver Developer Studio . Can someone help me out with the same ?What would be the code to obtain the connection to the MDM server with the new JAVA API ?

  • Best practice versioning XI szenario with java proxies

Our XI scenario includes services with java proxies.
By changing the message structure, java proxies have to be changed, too. But not all connected application can  migrate to new message structure at the same time.
I need a solution to run different versions of the same scenario at same time. This is also a requirement to my java proxy service. Thus I need to run the java proxy service under different versions.
To maintain minor and major changes, what would be the best practice for versioning in XI scenarios and for java proxies?
Is there a better solution than use different namespaces inside the XI scenarios (e.g. add the version number) and use different EJB-names for the proxy services (e.g. include the version number in the name)?
    Thanx,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
I don't have a best practice for you, but...
In general, you tend to run into trouble when making incompatible changes to message structures. Since the Software Component Version is not used as part of the message key (only interface and namespace is used), you can't use this versioning mechanism to help you. Thus you are forced to create a new interface instead of a new version of the same interface. If you can think up a new name (that won't just cause confusion), fine. Otherwise you are forced to include an version identifier in either the interface name or the namespace. The latter is used in some public XML schema definitions e.g. xCBL. In other words: versioning via namespaces. Not exactly elegant, but perhaps your best bet.
    Best regards,
    Thorsten

  • Creating Java Proxies

    Hi all,
We have a scenario for RFC -> Xi -> Java Application. We need to inoke certain functionlities provided by the java application through RFC. As per my understanding, i need to create the relevant interfaces and then invoke the java application by writing Java Proxies.
Can any body please suggest if:
    1. My approach is correct? if no, then what is the possible solution?
    2. If Its correct then how to create java proxies. Can any body please provide me a link to a blog with sample application?
    Any help will be appriciated.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Kulwant Singh

    Hi Kulwanth,
Java Proxies are Java Class files to access the R/3. If u create an RFC Model for a BAPI/RFC enabled FM the system will automatically create Java Proxy classes for ur R/3 connection.
The Java proxies for the message interfaces are generated using the Integration Builder tool (Design) in the menu Tools --> Java Proxy Generation and subsequently by selecting the message interfaces
Java proxies, the Integration Builder tool is used
    1) The Java proxies for the message interfaces are generated using the Integration Builder tool (Design) in the menu Tools ---> Java Proxy Generation and subsequently by selecting the message interfaces.
Using the Java Proxy runtime we can Receive messages or Send messages to the Integration Server. The Java proxy runtime supports J2EE applications on the SAP J2EE Engine using Enterprise Java Beans 2.0. Synchronous and Asynchronous Outbound and Inbound communication is possible with Proxy Beans.

  • Java Proxies - Logging Mechanism

    Dear All,
I have a scenario where DB-DB synchronus scenario.PI has to pick the data from sender DB system and Java Proxy is used to connecct to Target system and insert the records. This is a batch processing and if any records are failed, they have to be skipped and process the next records. Ex: If 100 records, then 5,15,25,35,45,55th records are failed, then 94 records are success and 6 records are failed. The target DB then sends the response back to sender system and update the Flag at sender system with 1 for success and 2 for failure records.
I am not sure where can I see the logging of Java Proxies connecting to target DB ? If any connection error occurs, where can I see that messages in PI for monitoring etc...
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
