Hello,
Just a quick question: can we have an official position from Sun regarding support of earlier releases of Solaris with Java RTS 2.1? Our customer is currently running Solaris 10 Update 3 with current Recommended patches, and the 2.1 beta cyclic driver supported this version of Solaris. However with the official release version of 2.1, support for U3 disappeared (only U4 and U5 are now supported). Aside from "rubber stamping" the Solaris build via /etc/release, is there a technical reason why U3 is no longer supported? As long as our kernel is up to date, can we safely use 2.1? Or is it just a case of being unable to officially support and test so many releases of Solaris?
Is this a general rule-of-thumb we can expect in future: only supporting the last 2 updates of Solaris 10?
Your advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave.

  • Announcement Oracle9iAS Portal Patch Release 3.0.9.8.3 For Solaris is now available

Oracle9iAS Portal Patch Release 3.0.9.8.3 For Solaris is now available for download from metalink. Bugnumber for the patch release is 2131815.
You must install this patch release over an Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2 installation of Oracle9iAS Portal. You can install it over either a production installation (3.0.9.8.0) or a patched installation (3.0.9.8.1, 3.0.9.8.2). This patch release is cumulative and it incorporates the changes from the earlier patches (3.0.9.8.1, 3.0.9.8.2). The installation instructions are in README.TXT and RELNOTES.HTM contained in the patch release.
The patch will be available for other platforms by the end of May.

I saw this warning in the content area API home page.
Warning - The Content Area APIs available in 3.0.8.x and 3.0.9.x will not work with Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2. They are not available with this release
    Will there be other API's?
Are you removing the concept of loading an item through APIs?
    Thanks in advance

  • Difference between release for Transport and Export

    Hi,
can anybody tell me the difference between the release for Transport of a change list and the Export Design Object ? When a change list is released is it not possible to select File System as mode or CMS ?
    Thx.

These relate to how your transport system is configured.
If you use FTP you cannot release for transport, and if you have CMS, I don;t beleive you can FTP.

  • What's the difference between task list release for order and release for c

What's the difference between task list release for order and release for cost?

    Pallavi,
The status of the task list determines in which other application areas the respective task list may be used.
Release for costing: means that the task list can be used to calculate costs in Transaction IA16 i.e. the costs for the task list operations would be calculated if released for costing status is set.
Release for use in the order: Released for Order means that you can use the task list in an order i.e. you could include operations from a task list in an order.

  • Fonts in java apps for win and linux

    Hi everyone.
i need to build an application mult-plataform, to run in windows and linux...
but i dont know waht font i must use...the default font that java takes doesnt exist in linux (dialog)...
waht font should i use in my app??
    thanx

For going multi-platform it is easiest to stick to the logical fonts: Fonts named "Serif", "SansSerif", "Monospaced", "Dialog", and "DialogInput".
These fonts are guaranteed to exist on any platform, although their implementations may be different. If you use others then you'll have to figure out how to deal with cross platform issues.

  • Evaluation version for "Base Deployment Engine " available?

    Hello,
we have one "Development-version" to develop testplans.
Now we are creating a cutom OPUI that calls the teststand-API. It works fine with the "Development-version".
Normally it should be enough to just install the "Base Deployment" to compile and use our custom OPUI.
The price is ~500EUR for the "Base Deployment"
    Question is now:
Is there an evalution-download available to check if i can use our custom OPUI with the "Base deployment"?
I only find an evaluation-download for the full "Development-version"
    Thanks

Deleting the license files will have the same effect as having an evaluation license, that's correct. Edited: Actually, deleting the license file will only trigger evaluation mode if the original evaluation license files are on the machine. This would be the case for a clean install, but may not be the case for OnlyOne's install. In that case, deleting the license files would just cause TestStand to not open.
However, my interpretation of the question (please correct me if I'm wrong, OnlyOne), is that he was wanting an eval version of base deployment so that he could confirm that his OI would work with a base deployment license. If that's the case, I think it's an equally accurate test to use an activated Base Deployment license.

  • Which is better: XDCAM or ProRes for editing and upload?

I am trying to determine if I'm better of staying with my native XDCAM files or instead converting them to one of the Pro Res codecs? One of my main issues is that the files that I upload to YouTube never look as good as I feel they ought to, nor as good as other HD files that I've seen online.

Well, neither would be good to upload. YouTube wants H.264.
Both look good. ProRes is easier on the system, smoother to edit, but has larger file sizes. XDCAM native isn't bad to work with, it just can take longer to do final rendering...depending on the system you are using to edit.
Both will convert to H.264 and look good.

  • Patch released for solaris yet?

Hi, anyone know if patch 118786-01 has been released yet? If not, does anyone know when it will be released? Its counterpart for Redhat is available for download (118788-01)

    You can check using
    showrev -p | grep <patchnumer>
if the patch is already installed. Most likely this is the case for the version you use so there's no need to update any patches.
However, it's always a good idea to keep the system up-to-date, especially if you plan to use ZFS as filesystem.
I use "pca" to update our systems (http://www.par.univie.ac.at/solaris/pca/) - much easier to handle than "Solaris Update connection" - and fewer problems.
