Hello,
Just a quick question: can we have an official position from Sun regarding support of earlier releases of Solaris with Java RTS 2.1? Our customer is currently running Solaris 10 Update 3 with current Recommended patches, and the 2.1 beta cyclic driver supported this version of Solaris. However with the official release version of 2.1, support for U3 disappeared (only U4 and U5 are now supported). Aside from "rubber stamping" the Solaris build via /etc/release, is there a technical reason why U3 is no longer supported? As long as our kernel is up to date, can we safely use 2.1? Or is it just a case of being unable to officially support and test so many releases of Solaris?
Is this a general rule-of-thumb we can expect in future: only supporting the last 2 updates of Solaris 10?
Your advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave.

  • Java 7 General Availability Status

    Hello,
What is the current general availability status of Java and JRE 7 (browser plugin mainly)? In java.com there is a reference to a page saying that it is not available to the general public yet (http://java.com/en/download/faq/java7.xml) but I remember getting prompted for an automatic update back last summer. Also from the Java pages at oracle.com it would seem as if it is generally available and I could not see anything that said it was not meant for production yet.
If it is not GA yet, what is the time frame for this?
    Thank you

    Hello,
Thank you for your response. That was exactly what I was thinking, but the pages @java.com are creating confusion to some of our customers when they get prompted to install JRE7.
I also remembered yesterday to look at the Java EOL policy page (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/eol-135779.html). Not only shows Java 7 GA since July last year, but also Java 6 EOL to be July this year.
Regards,The roadmap I linked to confirms that, yes. But EOL is a broad term. It will stop receiving community updates but paid support (including patches) will still be available.

  • JavaOne 2009 Java RTS /RTSJ Hands-On Lab now available through SDN

The hands-on labs for this years JavaOne are now available through SDN:
    http://developers.sun.com/learning/javaoneonline/j1labs2009.jsp?track=1&yr=2009
The Java RTS lab was 5538.
Unfortunately due to a process glitch the Netbeans Module used in the lab is not yet available for download from the JRTS website. We apologize for this delay and will advise as soon as it is available.
    Thanks for your patience.

    It's for NB 6.5
It's also intended primarily for Solaris as that's the only place the DTrace scripts can be run.
I don't know what will happen if you try to install it on Linux. It may be able to open TSV jrt3 files and launch TSV - if you wanted to do that. But I don't know.
We're hoping to make this available by around August 10th.

  • LiveCycle Data Services for Java EE 4.6 now available

I'm pleased to announce the general availability of LiveCycle Data Services version 4.6. It is the latest update to the JEE or LiveCycle version of Data Services and it is a feature-rich major release, including expanded support for mobile applications (HTML5/JavaScript, native iOS and Java/Google Android), adds an SAP Connector, introduces managed remoting, and enhancements to model driven development and the offline synchronization framework.

This certification is currently being evaluated for upgrade to a new version. At this time, I cannot give a definitive answer about whether or not there will be an EE 6 version. We also do not have any info on retirement of the EE 5 version. I don't expect that this certification will retire terribly soon, as it is still getting a good amount of traffic. I'm sorry, I realize that my answer is not very informative or helpful, but that is the only info I have at this time. If you are interested in this certification, I would recommend that you go ahead and go for it. Even if we do end up retiring the certification path, the certification remains valid. It remains on your list of certifications in CertView and you can continue to use the OCM logo.
If you are worried about getting 1/2 way through the path and having the path retire, I can tell you that we typically provide at least 3 months notice for a retiring exam/certification path. This path may require extra time because of the length of time that it takes to complete this certification path. Whenever this certification path is set to retire, we will make every effort to contact all candidates who are working on the certification at that time, so always be sure that your email address is updated and correct in your Pearson VUE profile.

  • Announcing General Availability of PowerShell Connector and Release Candidate of Generic SQL and SAP Roles/Users

The FIM team is pleased to announce the availability of some additional Connectors for FIM2010R2.
    General Availability of PowerShell Connector
The PowerShell Connector can be used to communicate with a system through PowerShell scripts. This allows an easy and flexible way to communicate with other systems but also to pre-/post-process data and files before handed over to the FIM Synchronization
Service. We believe the community will help providing scripts for this Connector for various systems and will open a place where scripts can be published for reuse.

Release Candidate of Generic SQL Connector
The Generic SQL Connector will allow you to connect to any database where you have an ODBC driver available. It enables new features compared to the built-in MA such as support for Stored Procedures, running SQL scripts, built-in delta import support, import
multiple object types, connect to multiple tables, and much more. This Connector is built on ECMA2.3 which allows schema discoverability to be customized in the Sync Engine UI. A pre-release of the next Sync Engine hotfix is included with the Connector download
and is required for the Connector to work.

Release Candidate of SAP Users and Roles/Groups
The updated SAP templates for Users and Roles/Groups allows you to manage Users, Roles, and Groups in SAP. This also include password sync for Users to SAP. The Connector will make sure roles are represented as groups to make it possible to manage these
with bhold. This template will require the previously published WebService Connector:

We had to tweak the password management component in the OpenLDAPXMA to support the error messages we get from the ACF2 System, as we support a multi-master password setup between Mainframe and Active Directory (one can change the password on

Additionally, we cannot get the delta import to work with the CA-LDAP, there's no capability in it and we tried to use the time attribute to use in the query for recent changes, but it does not work. (I think we need it in a large integer format
    or unix time integer).
Would be great to have Microsofts' support in this :)
In a case like this where your follow-up has nothing to do with the
original post you should create a new thread.
Having said that, neither of the MAs to which you refer are official
Microsoft MAs and as such there is no support from Microsoft available.
Also, keep in mind that the ECMA1/XMA extensibility framework has been
deprecated and replaced by the ECMA 2.0. You should plan on replacing
existing ECMA1 management agents with ECMA2.0 connectors.

Note that if you run JavaRTS on a virtual machine, you may get a lot of jitter from the
    host system anyway.
Unless you can guarantee that some CPUs are used only by the Solaris
layer, non real-time threads scheduled by your Host system may delay the real-time operations
within Solaris. This will of course disrupt your real-time Java threads. Even worse, this
may impact the cyclic subsystem, which controls all the fine grain time related operations in
Solaris (this is the low level module we interact with thanks to our cyclic driver to get better
    response times).
In fact, even if you dedicate CPUs to Solaris, you also have to be careful with how Solaris
accesses to the 'hardware' time source. Virtualization could create some randomness in the
way Solaris perceives time, disrupting stuff sufficiently to be noticeable within JavaRTS/DTrace.
I highly recommend dual booting instead of using virtualization if you want to evaluate the
determinism of JavaRTS or the high precision of our DTrace based instrumentation tools.

  • BPC 10.0 General Availability?

Can some one please let me know when SAP is planning to make BPC 10.0 for general availability. Thank you

Unfortunately, there is no "official" ramp up date, only a "target".
A good description of the ramp up program can be found [here|https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/rampup]. (registration required)
The full matrix of product's in ramp up with targeted availability dates can be found [here|https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000515942003E/SAPNETListeRU-Solutions.xls].

  • Office 365 Customers: General Availability for Access Apps

The news hit last month that Access Apps would be available for all Office 365 customers, well now we can all move full speed ahead. So, what does general availability mean? Customers can now create, share, and use the Access Apps with the same level of full
guarantee as the rest of Office 365. Prior to the announcement, the Access Apps were not under the Office 365 service-level agreement (SLA) and were available only under preview.

I find the content which you mentioned above is talking about from the blog:

Access apps are databases that run in the cloud on most browsers, if you need to know more information, please wait for the blog update.
