Javascript PopUp Page Passing Values

Hi,
I have a page which I am redirecting to from a report link column. The Column Link... URL is as follows:
javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:8:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::P8_SOURCE:#EXPRESSION#' );
My problem is that some values in #EXPRESSION# contain comma's. Eg. ' TO_CHAR(EVENT_DATE,'YYYYMMDD') ' and then when I select the edit link it errors. Some of the values contain no comma's and they parse through with no problem. Eg. ' AMOUNT ' .
Can anybody help me with this problem?
Many Thanks,
Samantha

Hello Heinz,
It seems like you, and Samantha, are facing two different problems. The first is how to pass parameters which includes comma (,) and the second is how to deal with other (possible) problematic characters.
The first issue can be easily solved by wrapping the parameter data with backslashes. This solution is working just fine, also with column substitution strings (as I noted in my first post).
The other issue, which seems to generate your current error message, is a bit more complex, and can’t be solved using a built-in option. There are several characters we can’t use with the f?p notation, most notable is the colon (:) character. There can also be some problems using single quote (‘) or double quote (“), depending on your JavaScript (or HTML) syntax. In these cases, one simple solution (especially if the problem is with one specific character) is to “play” with the single and double quote signs in the JavaScript syntax (it can work with both). If the problem is more wide spread, you’ll need to “escape” the problematic characters, just like we need to do with colons. Usually the solution is to replace the “offending” character with another, legitimate but not used in our data character – in the source page – and then replacing it back to the original character, just before displaying it in the target page.
Regards,
Arie.

  • Popup Window passing values

    Hi,
    Thanks for any help.
    Can anyone help me with the below syntax. The popup page doesn't open at all:
    <script language = "javascript">
    function openPopUp()
    window.open(f?p=&APP_ID.:50:&SESSION.::NO::P50_ID:#EMPLOYEE_ID#','Popup','width=350,height=250,scrollbars=1,resizable=1');
    </script>

    You are missing a quote before f?.
    A suggestion: if you just want a popup when clicking a link or button, simple code the link or button URL as:
    javascript:popupURL('f?p=....');
    Sorry, that is the deprecated function. Better use
    javascript:html_PopUp(‘url’, ‘windowName’, width, height);
    The full spec is:
    function html_PopUp(pURL,pName,pWidth,pHeight,pScroll,pResizable){

  • Using the Form javascript.addrow() to pass values while creating a new row?

    Version: 4.1.0
    DB: 11g
    Theme- scarlet 21
    Hi,
    I have a standard tabular form with the add, delete, submit buttons. Now when we hit the Add button, it creates a new row in the form. I had a requirement such that the user selects a row using the standard checkbox and then when he hits add, it should create a new row, and also, copy the contents of the selected row to the new row.
    Is this possible? Any suggestions please? I am thinking that I need to create a pl/sql process under Add button to check if the checkbox is selected, and if yes, then maybe run the javascript addrow(not sure if it can be done) and then try to populate the values.
    Thanks!

    Hi Joni,
    Thanks. I am not familiar with JQuery, is there some link where such a logic is implemented? Atleast a basic one of adding a new row, and traversing and capturing the values? In forms we could do it using cursor but not sure how to do it in Apex.
    In my case the requirement is straightforward. If there is a table with three rows and have a standard form in APEX with the add, delete and submit buttons along with the radio checkbox in a tabular form,
    If I select a row and then hit the add button, a new row should be added and the values of the previous row should be passed.
    Would you be having a link to any such demo or documentation on how this is done, would be very helpful.
    Thanks!

  • Syntax Error In Javascript Popup Window

    I'm wondering if anybody can help me out here with a curious bit of code. I'm using GoLive 9 to generate Javascript popup windows. They seem to work fine, but when I check the syntax I get these errors:

    Line 24 The Corresponding start tag is missing
    Specifically, it references this code:

    But every time I try to delete or modify those lines I lose the link to my css file and can't link it back. Does anybody out there with a whole lot more brains than me have a solution? If the BSP page is refrehed, all the user input it sent back to the server. If you don't do anything special, the input is lost and not sent back to the client again. You can go to your controller class' DO_HANDLE_DATA to read the user input, and store it in the controller class to send it back to the client.
    If you don't use controller classes, the equivalent would be onInputProcessing. A more advanced alternative would be to use MVC model binding, which would do most of the stuff automatically for you.

  • Passing value from Report Column to Javascript

    Dear Apex wizards,
    I am a bit stuck right now with implementing a modal pop-up/iframe/javascript and this forum is my last hope to fix this issue.
    Anyway, will try to explain what I am trying to accomplish.
    What I need is: I want to have an SQL report, as a very first column I want to have an "ID" numbers from my table and I want this column to have a "Column Link" set in "Column Attributes" proper ties. The trick is, that when I click on the column link (when I run my report on Apex page) I need a JQuery modal window to pop-up where in IFrame will be another page and this page will use an "ID" from my column link URL to display data. So, basically I want to pass an "ID" value from my parent page to my child page which is displayed in iFrame of modal window.
    And here is what I have:
    1. I do have an SQL report:
    select SUBNET_ID,
           long2ip(NETWORK_ADDRESS),
           long2ip(SUBNET_MASK),
           long2ip(END_HOST),
           long2ip(START_HOST),
           MAX_HOSTS,
           long2ip(BROADCAST_IP),
           NETWORK_CLASS,
           NETWORK_SIZE,
           HOST_SIZE
    from   YC_CM_IP_SUBNETS 2. Then, in "Column Attributes" for "SUBNET_ID" a have set a "Column Link" to URL as : javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(#SUBNET_ID#); 3. Now, when I run my page and point my mice on any item in my "SUBNET_ID" column I can see that it is getting a "SUBNET_ID" number from my table and it shows it in the buttom of the browser as :javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(1);, or (2) or whatever "SUBNET_ID" is. So, that is good.
    4. And here I am getting confused, basically I have to pass a value of javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(#SUBNET_ID#);, which seems to work as it gives me correct numbers from my table, to my "ViewNetworkDetails" JavaScript function, so it can paste this value into "f?p=........." iFrame URL. Below is my Jquery Modal form script and Javascript to redirect me to my popup page (the script is in HTML Header):
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function ViewNetworkDetails(){
    var apexSession = $v('pInstance');
    var apexAppId = $v('pFlowId');
    var subnetIDNumber = document.getElementById(#SUBNET_ID#);
    $(function(){
    vRuleBox = '<div id="ViewNetworkDetailsBox" title="View Subnet Details">
    <iframe src="f?p='+apexAppId+':103:'+apexSession+'::NO:103:P103_SUBNET_ID:'+subnetIDNumber+'
    "width="875" height="500" title="View Subnet Details" frameborder="no"></iframe></div>'
    $(document.body).append(vRuleBox);
    $("#ViewNetworkDetailsBox").dialog({
                            buttons:{"Cancel":function(){$(this).dialog("close");}},
                            stack: true,
    modal: true,
                            width: 950,
    resizable: true,
    autoResize: true,
    draggable: true,
    close : function(){$("#ViewNetworkDetailsBox").remove();
                            location.reload(true); }
    </script> P.S. My assumption is, that there is a problem with this part of my scriptvar subnetIDNumber = document.getElementById(#SUBNET_ID#); where I cannot get my "SUBNET_ID" value from javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(#SUBNET_ID#); into "subnetIDNumber" variable and that is why I cannot pass it to my iFrame URL.
    P.S. P.S. the child page 103 has a "Automated Row Fetch", so it is not a problem. In addition, I did a simple test, where I had a page item "P102_Value" with some value and in my script I had instead var subnetIDNumber = document.getElementById(#SUBNET_ID#); this var subnetIDNumber = $v('P102_Value'); and it worked perfectly fine....but cannot make it working against SQL Select statement :-(
    HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLPPPP.
    Thanks

    Change your column link to send the subnet_id column's value to the function call (you mentioned it, but I m not sure if you actually did)
    javascript:ViewNetworkDetails(#SUBNET_ID#);<u>You are passing the parameter value to the function, but not defined any parameters in the function definition</u>(this is possible in JS, any extra parameters is ignored)
    So, modify the function to accept the subnet ID parameter(I am actually surprised how you missed this) and assign that parameter to variable.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function ViewNetworkDetails(pSubnetId){
    var apexSession = $v('pInstance');
    var apexAppId = $v('pFlowId');
    var subnetIDNumber = pSubnetId;
    //rest of the code would be the same

    Thanks Tim.
    I could solve the problem using javascript.
    I have used the following javascript.
    <script>
    function test(){
    var radioLength = document.wwv_flow.p_v01.length;
    var retVal = '';
    if(radioLength == undefined)
              if(document.wwv_flow.p_v01.checked)
                   retVal = document.wwv_flow.p_v01.value;
              else
                   return "";
         for(var i = 0; i < radioLength; i++) {
              if(document.wwv_flow.p_v01.checked) {
                   retVal = retVal + ';' +document.wwv_flow.p_v01[i].value;
    retVal = retVal.substring(1, retVal.length);
    opener.document.getElementById('P1_TEST').value = retVal;
    window.close();
    </script>
    Now the problem is solved!!

  • Refresh popup list of values javascript

    I try to change value of popup list of values with javascript.
    When i set it with javascript i get only return value visible in popup list of values (display). When i add refresh in dynamic action item is clean..and dont have any value..
    How to set display and return value correctly...
    Thanks...
    Edited by: Nihad Haskovic on Jul 18, 2012 3:18 AM

    I am not sure if I understand your question, but if you want to show two display value columns you can use a concatenation, for example:
    select raum||' - '||some_other_column display_value, raum return_value from standort order by 1
    You can also build a custom popup LOV picker. If you wanted to have popup list of values that selected a number of columns and contained custom report filters you could do so by:
    1. create a report page which queries the table you wish pick from
    2. change the page template to be a popup lov style template
    3. in the "Post Element Text" attribute put a link to the new popup page using javascript similar to: javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:10:&SESSION.')
    ( you may wish to wrap it around an image such as this one )
    <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#htmldb/icons/view_small.gif" />
    4. make one of the columns in your report a link to javascript to passback the value and close the popup window. A good example of this javascript can be viewed by viewing the HTML page source of the popup page finder which is linked from the APEX page definition page.

    Client side information is never safe no matter what you do. If the values don't end up in the url, they are always present SOMEWHERE in the html content.
    If you don't want the values to end up in the url, rework the page so it DOES do a post form submit. You could turn the hyperlink into a javascript call that submits the form for you.

    I have a page with a button. When the button is clicked, it used to branch to another page. Values from the 1st page populated nicely on the new page. I then decided to try doing the new page as a popup window. For some reason, the Item values are not carrying over to the popup page. How can I remedy this?
    My Javascript Function
    function PopUpJC(url, name, width, height){
    // Loads URL In A Popup Window \\
    var settings =
    "toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no," +
    "status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes," +
    "resizable=yes,width="+width+",height="+height;
    var MyNewWindow = window.open(url,name,settings);
    }

    Matthias:
    The APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01() will have values only after the form has been submitted.
    So,your best bet is to use javascript to make the selected checkbox values available in the pop-up window.

  • How to capture text input value by user in a LOV search popup page?

    I need to capture the input by the user in LOV search page. I added one controller in the LOV region, and the flow is also working, but what I need to hold the search input in the search popup page. Also do you know what is the id of " Search Term" text input? then I can try to hold the value in PFR of the CO.

    Hi Sandeep,
    Yes, as of now I need to populate blank, so I need to modify the SQL, therefore I need to capture the value which is given by the user. I am trying to capture the value through passive criteria, but not able to get the result. I added below code in PFR of lov region controller,
           Dictionary passiveCriteriaItems = pageContext.getLovCriteriaItems();
           String lov = (String)passiveCriteriaItems.get("SwitchLOV");
          if ((lov != null) && !("".equals(lov)))
               throw new OAException(lov, OAException.INFORMATION);
    SwitchLOV is a lov map I have added in the LOV, and
    Programmatic Query set to true. and
    LOV Region Item is the id for which user searches.
    I am getting null in the "lov" where i have give some value in the search field.
    Is this would be the way?
    I dont understand where is the issue, Please suggest.
