JB update 4.1.2 messed up my phone.
After the update to 4.1.2 the swipe feature with phone contacts no longer works (ie: left=message right=call).
Don't know what else has gone bad. What should I do?
I updated last night. I got the icon that showed the cable connect to iTunes. I couldn't get it to do anything. I noticed that right after loading the firmware the computer screen flashed iTunes wasn't connected any longer but didn't think anything about it. Then I noticed that the update knocked my wireless connection off line. I tried connecting quite a few times and gave up. I resorted to re-booting the computer and re-established my wireless connection. I was then able to open iTunes and complete the install.
Not sure this will fix yours but this is what I had to do to complete the update.

Ok, so ever since the IPhone 4 came out, there have been more software updates to previous IPhones which is normal, but I've had problems. Actually, EVERYONE who I know that has an IPhone has been having problems with the new updates. By problems I mean my phone freezes all the time, all my apps crash, my keyboard is all jacked up, my phone randomly shuts off and the list continues...so annoying. I'm not a very technical person but I relate the problems to the new updates. Honestly, I think it's been happening as a way for Apple to make us buy the new IPhone...all the problems are starting to convince me to trade it in for an IPhone 4. They win.
YES! YES! YES! It totally hosed mine. Of ocurse, let me preface this by saying that my iPhone has been a piece of crap since day one. I have a 3G. When I first got it I could barely hear anyone on my phone even turned all the way up. After the frist update I did it was somewhat better but not great. After last one I did, it would shut itself off when I was texting or using the internet. A LOT! I could be sitting right beside my husband and have no bars. And he'd have wifi and I couldn't get it. Not a foot apart! Wrote Apple. They sent me a phone to use while they were fixing mine. This one does the same exact thing. I will NEVER have another iphone!

My old school iPod touch won't update. Does apple mess it's customers over by not allowing updates for older models of the touch? My last update is Ios5. My touch says its up to date. So has my old school touch reached its pinnacle?
Correct. The 3G iPod does not have the hardware to support an iOS version higher than 5.1.1
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists. -

If your iPhone is truly unlocked - purchased as unlocked through Apple
or through wireless provider that sells unlocked iPhones or unlocked
by a wireless provider, then the update should not mess up your iPhone.
If your iPhone was jailbroken or hacked to change wireless providers,
then the update will relock it to the original wireless provider if you are lucky
or turn it into a useless brick if unlucky.
Back up first to protect against glitches or other problems. -
I excepted the firefox update and now wish I never got involved with it at all. I am so upset, it change my toolbars and everything and now I cant even get anyone to fix this. maybe you have a suggestion or you want to fix this since it was your update that created this mess.

Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

You'll very likely need iTunes. But you might as well try a reset since you're out of town.
Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds. Hopefully you will see an Apple logo and then some progress. -

After updating my iPhone4s to the lastest update my photostream stopped updated onto my comuter. From my phone it looks like pictures have been moved into the photostream folder... but they are not showing up on my computer. Help!
I have signed out then back into the cloud. I have comfirmed location of the photostream folder. can i use a 2nd iphone if i install itunes on another user account.when i tried to create a second library i messed up both phones, the second one now has all my contacts and when it sends txts it either says its my other phone or email address. i can cope with the first phone and getting it back on itunes but dont want to syn the 2nd phone until i know it is independant of the other one. Does it matter that both phones use the same itunes store account?
Deleting the account on your phone only removes if from your phone. The account and it's data remain intact and doing so will not effect your daughter's phone.
To do this, first go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off, and when prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone. When finished, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Then set up a new iCloud account with a different Apple ID and turn any data you want to sync with iCloud (contact, calendars, etc.) back to On. This will upload your data to your new iCloud account. -

i just tried updating my iphone 4 and now my phone is in recovery mode and i dont want to loose anything on my fone someone help please!!!!!
If its stuck in recovery mode then you have to restore it. Hopefully you had a recent backup on Icloud or on your computer that you can apply after restoring it. If so then you shouldn't loose your data.
Just connect it to Itunes and restore it. After it will promt you when your done to restore from backup or as new. If its on icloud unplug the phone and go through the intro screen till you get the same prompt. Sign into icloud and restore backup. -
Hi, I have the same apple id for my 5s and my two daughters 4s phones. For some reason lately, their updated for apps on their phones will not download. Mine works fine. When I press "update" on theirs, it just opens whatever particular app I'm trying to update. I've tried restarting their phones and signing out and signing back in to my account, but no luck. Any ideas? Any help would be appriciated.
You got the new iphone????? I have same problem. I transferred audiobooks to device to find no audiobooks on device (despite it being in iTunes as if it was). Have you found a solution????? I even tried to change import settings on format transfer but hasn't worked.

I had an update massage for a wile on my phone and yesterday I decided to do the update and so I downloaded the soft w. and started to install but in the middle of the process the phone got stocked and said to connect to iTunes and so i did it and again the process gets interrupted first saying "the software on Iphone needs to be restored to factory settings or update" and so i do it..then it comes the message the an error -39 and I can not do it and it says that I need to restore..and so I do it..but its a circle and it never ends..and I have no phone since yesterday.. all my contacts, my work..

A little information will be of a great help, witch iPhone did you upgrade, memory , and version of software ( iOS 8.x.x )?
Try restarting you iPhone and make sure you have a god internet connection , get as close to your wifi router (1-3 meter / 2-9 feet ) as possible. Don't use restore to factory settings before you tried other options . And most imported du you have an iCloud backup.
