From what I've read I think this is my solution , but I'm still unsure.
The general question of copying all user data and settings to a new computer is really out of scope for this forum - however, Microsoft does have tools and tutorials on their site on how to do this (details will vary depending on the version(s) of Windows running on your old and new computers. A Google search for "Windows transfer data to new computer" should provide useful results.
Detailed instructions specific to iTunes also depend on the version(s) of Windows you're running, and on how your current iTunes library is organized. If you can post a response with answers to the following questions I can point you in the right direction.
What version of Windows in running on your old computer?
What version of Windows is running on your new computer?
Do you have either:
a network that both old and new computers are connected to, or
an external (USB) hard drive?
What version of iTunes are you running on the old computer?
Now, on your old computer run iTunes (I'll assume for now that its running version 11), press Ctrl-B if the menu bar is not visible, then select Edit > Preferences > Advanced. You should get a window that looks like this:

Is the box labeled "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" (2) checked?

elleekSame problem with the pink/purple images from the E-M1. This happens with iPhoto, Aperture, and Preview. At first the files look normal but after the few seconds it takes for the system to process the RAWs they morph to purple. I know that the files are OK because they open just fine in Olympus Viewer3.
If you try exporting the files in any format (jpeg. tiff, png) they're pink as well.
I've posted things in a few other places with no repsonse. I'm actually glad to find this thread. I think I'll post a new thread with this as it's topic. -

The delivery time of 4 to 6 weeks in UK is just the rough estimate and indicates that it will be at the most 4 - 6 weeks incase of any shipping and delivery issues.
You will definitely receive your new macbook much before the mentioned date.
The Gold edition is relatively more fancier and exclusive in looks so currently there are high demands compared to the space grey and regular silver variant. Rest assured.....

One thing to check is if your hosts file is modified. Open the Command Prompt and type: notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
This will open a read-only copy of your host file in Notepad. Are there any entries in this file regarding adobe.com?
The other thing you can do is open the Developer Tools in the Chrome browser. On Windows press Ctrl + Shift to open them. Switch to the Network tab. Reload the page by pressing Ctrl + r. Check for any 4xx or 5xx errors which should be colored red.

I will soon be purchasing a new PC running Windows 7. I need to know how to migrate my iTunes Library and apple devices to the PC. Is there a previously published support document on this topic? Thank You.
Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it. -
New HD and new motherboard on Mac Mini and OSX will not start.
Long story but will do my best to keep it short...
Purchased Mac mini #1 at CompUSA years back and bought their extended warranty. Mini died 2+ years later which coincided with CUSA going out of business. Problem was a flashing folder with the Mac logo and a "?" at startup. My CUSA store was closing out and would not service my machine and gave me a phone number for the outsourced warranty/repair department. The tech took my info and decided a new HD was in order. I rec'd the new HD in the mail and a local tech came out and installed it (but refused to test it). After the tech left the same problem was found. Called warranty department immediately (literally 5 minutes later) and they siad they would send another HD as well as a mother board which I recieved a few days later. However, this time the local tech never showed back up and after a few weeks of calling the warranty number went dead. We ended up getting a new Mac mini which has been running fine since.
My daughter needed a computer so I figured I would give it a shot. It was actually very easy to replace the HD and MB. I tried starting the mini and it powers up but I got the same flashing folder so I put in the OS intall disc and after I select the language, I get a prompt that says "This software cannot be installed on this computer". I am using the original discs that came with this particular mini. I cannot get disc #1 out of the drive now but disc #2 says "Mac OSX Install Disc 2", "includes Mac OS9.2", and Disc version 1.3 2Z691-5533-A" on it. The mini itself says Mac mini 1.25G4/512MB/40GB/Combo/Modem on the underside.
Is this due to the fact that the entire inside of the Mini is new and now not compatible with the original software? How would I know what software to buy? Am I better off just taking it somewhere to get serviced or calling it a total loss? Any guidance would be much appreciated.One the one hand I am being told that my OS discs are not working because they are unique (or keyed) to the original machine and since that machine essentially no loger exists due to repalacing the MB, I will need to purchase new software with a new license agreement.
It is true that computer specific install software is specific to the software with which it shipped. However replacing the logic board means that the new logic board is part of the computer. Unless the logic board was not an exact replacement, it should not make a difference; the original disks should work. In other words it has to do with the hardware not the license. The software license agreement allows the installation of a certain OS to one computer at a time, unless you have a multi-user license such as a family pack, which allows installation in up to five computers in the same household. The original computer specific software can be installed on a single computer no matter how many times. If that OS in that computer has been upgraded to a later OS, that installer can be used to install to another computer of the identical model so long as it is not simultaneously installed elsewhere. However, even then, it can technically be installed on another computer of the same model although installation of a single user licensed software will be a violation of the terms of the Software License Agreement.
The second opinion was that the original mini was equippmed with a powerpc processor and that the new MB I received is equipped with an intel processor.
True. Models of the mini released in 2005 and Early 2006 have PowerPC processors. Late 2006 and later have Intel processors.
Therefore, that pesron recommended that I purchase OSX 10.5 Leopard as this OS will cover both of those processors.

i. If your mini was released with Tiger it will support OS X 10.5x and later. If it was released in Early 2009 with Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G2030) it will only support versions of Leopard earlier than 10.5.6 and, certainly OS X 10.6x.
ii. It will only both computers if you have a multi-user license.
iii. New Leopard installers will only install on your old mini if the original installer itself was the problem. If the problem is elsewhere, it is not quite as certain. Unfortunately there is no sure way to know that unless you buy the Full Retail Version of Leopard and attempt installing it.

I hv lost my icon for iphoto on my Imac Mac OSX10.5.8. I still hv my pics but can no longer creat albums and events. If I upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion, will my pics go into the new iphoto?
From where did you lose the iPhoto icon? From the Dock? If so, then it's still in your Applications folder. Find it there then drag the icon back into the Dock. If it's no longer in Applications perhaps you've moved or renamed it. Use Spotlight to search for "iphoto."
Upgrading to Mountain Lion will not affect your iPhoto Library unless you erase the hard drive first. Be sure you backup before any system upgrade.

When I enter an event in iCal, soon thereafter multiple other "New Event" notices (one to four) appear for the same day. If I delete these unwanted "New Event" notices, they later reappear -- sometimes multiplying like rabbits. Any suggestions?
Well, using iMovie to rearrange clips in a mini DV video edited by another program is extremely time consuming. I found a workaround. It still takes time, but it's much faster than rearranging the clips using iMovie.
The workaround is as follows. Bring up Finder and go to the directory where your event's clips are stored (typically ~/Movies/iMovie Events/<name of event>). It helps to setup Finder to be in Cover Flow mode, so you can see the beginning of each clip. Then, sort the files in ascending order by the 'Date Modified' field. This makes Finder sort the files in the same order that they were imported from the mini DV tape. Clips with timecodes have the naming convention "clip-<year>-<month>-<day> hour;minute;second.dv". Clips without timecodes use another naming convention. With the files sorted by "Date Modified" in Finder, rename clips as needed so that the date/time in their file names are in ascending order. Note: when you rename a file, you need to restart iMovie. I suggest not running iMovie while renaming files.
I believe the file date/timestamp is only accurate to the second. Occasionally, there may be a couple of clips that have the same date/timestamp. This may cause the ordering to not be correct. The best way to find these is through iMovie. To modify a file's date/time, right click on the clip in the event in iMovie, and then select "Adjust Clip Date and Time...".
So, this workaround is a lot easier and faster than trying to rearrange things from scratch in iMovie. But it's still time consuming. Creating a project out of an already edited video should take less than 5 minutes (not counting import time), but that's not the case.
I submitted an enhancement request to Apple asking if they can add an option to sort an event's clips in the order that they were imported by iMovie. Those who have the same issue as me, I suggest you submit an enhancement request as well.

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original? Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.
There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture: a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made. (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack. A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack. This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick. If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album. Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick". (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.) The change is immediate. The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album. -
Bought the phone on contract last January (late in january), had my charger replaced just after christmas and now it has stopped working again, its been about a month and a half and the replacement charger is broken, does the replacement charger come with a new warranty or will I have to buy a new charger? And if so, is there a charger that doesn't break easily (my problem is the the wire at the phone end of the cable seems to bunch and twist etc.)

I did not do my research before changing my Apple ID from an outdated email address to a current one. I just changed and verified and though I was all set. WRONG! Now I cannot sign in to iCloud because it will not let me enter the new Apple ID. I read the 10/30/13 randers4 post to just change your Apple ID back then sign in and change it to the new email address again and then you can sign in, but I cannot change back to the prior email address Apple ID because that is no longer an active email account (or at least not mine). Any thoughts on how to get signed into iCloud when it does not allow me to type in the new Apple ID and the old Apple ID no longer exists.
I see that many people have asked, but no one has come up with a solution that I found.
Thanks for any help!This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

FCP 7 (Studio 3) with new OS and new computers. Will it work?
I have read, and mostly likely so have you, that a new Power Mac will be introduced sometime this spring. I don't know when it will be available to purchase, though.
My concern is that as a FCP Studio 3 user, Not FCPX, that the new machines and whatever new Operating systems that will be coming out in the future, will FCP 7 and the rest of Studio 3 be able to run on these newer machines?
I am about 2 years away from having to purchase a new Power Mac or IMAC and I woud like to know if I can just install FCP Studio 3 on them or do I have to make the switch to FCPX, Premiere Pro, or Avid Media Composer?

FCP Studio 3The "power mac" died AGES ago when Apple moved to Intel processors.
Apple does not give a 5hit about FCP 7 or other legacy users. They did not care about us when FCS 2009 was the current version of their flagship software and we have dropped so far off the radar screen as to be invisible. Try to imagine a number less than zero and you have how Apple feels about FCS (any version other than FPX).
Will Macs (hardware and OS) in 24 months support 4 year old software? I would not bet money on it.
On the other hand, pigs do fly.

In the current Firefox 34 release there is a new "one-off" search bar.
This search bar doesn't show the name of the search engine and a logo.
You can type one letter to make a drop-down list appear where you can see suggestions and see the used search engine and that also has bar at the bottom where you can select other search engines that are enabled via the Search tab in Options/Preferences.
You can use the Tab key to select one of the other available search engines and press the Enter key to search with the selected search engine.
Click the search engine icon and click "Change Search Settings" to open the Search tab in Options/Preferences (positioned between Tabs and Content) to select the default search engine and select which search engines to show in the search bar drop-down list that opens when you start typing search terms.
