@Jeff Mott: what is considered to be an FTE paragraph?

@Jeff Mott (or any else how knows the definition of an FTE paragraph )
In a TextField a paragraph ends when a carriage return or newline character is encountered. Is the same true for FTE? Or is it more to be seen like an HTML <p> element?
From the docs:
"The TextBlock class is intended to contain a single paragraph because the Unicode   bidirectional and line-break algorithms operate on one paragraph at a time. For applications   that compose multiple paragraphs of text, use a markup language, or text analysis to   divide the text into paragraphs and create one TextBlock per paragraph."
So if we have a chunk of text containing a few hard retruns need we to devide that into multiple TextBlock instances or will the the Unicode bidirectional and line-break algorithms work with the hard returns in one TextBlock?
- Benny

I'd go with yes.  The returns in the middle of the paragraph are simply forced line breaks.
Hope that helps,
Richard

I have what I consider the best smart phone.  I recently upgraded my PC from Windows Vista to Windows 8 and my Itunes went away.  Did I do something wrong or aren't the two compatible?

If the update did not preserve all your Applications you may simply have to download iTunes again and instrall it on Windows 8.
There's nothing strange about an update not preserving installed Applications.

  • What is considered explicit?

Just wondering if apple has any guidelines on what is considered explicit? Is one or two profanities in a episode considered explicit? Any help on this one?

Looks like iTunes grabbed the RIAA "standards" which are pretty vague:
Uniform Guidelines for Determining Whether a Sound Recording Should Use a PAL Notice
Participant record labels and/or artists should use the following guidelines to determine whether any particular sound recording contains strong language or depictions of violence, sex, or substance abuse to such an extent as to merit parental notification, as described in more detail in these Standards. Strong language or depictions of violence, sex, or substance abuse to such an extent is referred to herein as “PAL Content.” Only the record label or artist that owns and/or distributes the particular sound recording may determine whether the sound recording contains PAL Content and warrants the use of a PAL Notice.
A determination that a sound recording contains PAL Content is not a statement as to whether the sound recording is or is not suitable for particular listeners. Nor is the absence of any notification that a sound recording contains PAL Content a statement that the sound recording is completely devoid of all references to strong language or depictions of violence, sex, or substance abuse. Rather, it is utilized to provide parents, consumers, and companies within the sales or distribution chain notice that parental discretion is advised when purchasing the particular sound recording for children or when listening to the sound recording with children present; (ii) guide the labeling, marketing, and distribution of the sound recording; and (iii) provide notice whether an Edited Version (defined below) of a sound recording exists. A record label or artist determination that a sound recording contains PAL Content shall result in the use of PAL Content indicators, as more fully described in these Standards, to provide notice of the PAL Content. Such indicators are referred to herein as “PAL Notices.”
It is obviously not possible to define each individual situation in which a record label or artist should determine that a sound recording contains PAL Content. In making such a determination, however, record labels and artists should consider:
    1. that contemporary cultural morals and standards should be used in determining whether parents or guardians would find the sound recording suitable for children;
    2. the context in which the material is used, as some words, phrases, sounds, or descriptions might be offensive to parents if spotlighted or emphasized, but might not offend if merely part of the background or a minimal part of the lyrics;
    3. the context of the artist performing the material, as well as the expectations of the artist’s audience;
    4. that lyrics are often susceptible to varying interpretations, and that words can have different meanings and should not be viewed in isolation from the music that accompanies them (i.e., lyrics when accompanied by loud and raucous music can be perceived differently than the same lyrics when accompanied by soft and soothing music);
    5. that such a determination requires sensitivity and common sense, and that context, frequency, and emphasis are obviously important; isolated or unintelligible references to certain material might be insufficient to warrant labeling a particular sound recording as containing PAL Content;
    6. that these Standards apply to the case of a single track commercially released as well as to full albums (whether released in the form of a CD, cassette or any other configuration); and
    7. that a sound recording may contain strong language or depictions of violence, sex, or substance abuse, yet due to other factors involved, may not merit a designation as containing PAL Content.
The record label or artist determination that a sound recording contains PAL Content shall affect the marketing, sale, and distribution of such sound recording, as described in greater detail throughout these Standards. For purposes of clarification, only the applicable record label or artist shall determine whether any particular sound recording contains PAL Content, and all other Participants shall abide by the applicable record label or artist’s determination.

  • What is considered low light condition?

What is considered low light condition for the keyboard? I'm in a room with 2 bright led tube lights and the keyboard light is still on? i had to manually turn it off

The light sensor can be turned on and off in the Keyboard and Mouse system preference pane and the Display preference pane. The sensor is located to the left of the iSight Camera on the top of the screen bezel.
A low light condition is when the light sensor can't see light. Now the problem with the new MacBooks is that the light sensor is on the screen not the keyboard. So you have to have light shining on the screen for the keyboard to turn off. Even if you have a desk lamp shining on your computer, the keyboard light will still be on because it is short range and cannot see the light.

  • What is considered a local account?

what is considered a local account?

There is no such animal if you are talking about iCloud.
Macs (though not iPhones) can have several user accounts, so that different people have their own sets of documents, preferences, and so on.
An iCloud account accesses email, calendars, contacts etc on the iCloud server. Your Macs and devices read them from the server, so obviously these are not 'local'.
You can also have individual calendars and contacts kept under 'On My Mac' - these, as you would surmise, are actually stored on the Mac and are not 'synced' to iCloud - and thus won't appear on other Macs or devices. So these are 'local' but they are not 'accounts'.

  • Setting up HR Org Hierarchies - What to consider

We are stting up HR Org Hierarchies and I have been invited to be part of the project team representing the financials side of Oracle.
I don't have much experience with Org Hierarchies and I would appreciate it if you could tell me what issues pertaining to integration between HR and PA or financials in general should be considered.
    Thanks for your input.

The integration is pretty straight forward. Once you create the Organizations, you will need to determine which orgs are chargeable or can create Projects. This is done by selecting the appropriate classes on the HR Organization screen. You should also determine if the org will affect your AutoAccounting in any type of way. Our cost centers on the GL are mapped to our organizations.

  • What to consider when migrating from 9.0.3.4 to 10.1.3.3?

    Hi!
I need to migrate a few applications from JDev 9.0.3.4 to 10.1.3.3. Among those applications, I've got Uix, BC4J and Struts frameworks.
I've been researching a lot about this migration, and as far as I can understand it sounds like a big hassle, as I'll have to consider rewriting big part of the code, specially when it comes to UIX framework.
I'd like to ask if anyone has got into a similar task, or has enough knowledge to tell me what tasks I need to consider when executing this migration?
    Thank you in advance!

You will be stuck redoing all of your uix pages into JSF, the tool that Oracle provides to do the conversion really does not work well at all. Its worth the work though, JSF is a big improvement over UIX, and there is a lot more documentation for the JSF stuff.
    Good luck on your task.

  • What is considered excessive fan speed/internal temp?

Among all of my installed applications, there is one program (a moderately graphics-intensive game) that causes the fan in my MacBook Pro to spin very very loudly and heat up to 82 degress Celcius (181 F).
First of all, what temperature is is considered to be within normal range?  I wouldn't normally be concerned about CPU temperatures, but the noise coming out of my computer is unusually loud.
    I'm on a 2012 model 15" Retina MacBook Pro, running OS 10.8.3.

Actually how accurate is the temp reading on HWMonitor for your MSI board?  One thing I noticed is that w/ Coretemeter the temp reading was around 48-50c on Rig#1 and almost 58-60c on Rig#2 (That's my HTPC w/ EXTREMELY tight spacings so still work in progress as far as cooling's concern!) but using HWMonitor I got 31c CONSISTENTLY on both rigs!     I'll love to think that I'm indeed running this cool but feeling the exhaust air, I think this 31c reading is not real...

  • What is considered a fifth generation I-Pod?

What models are considered fifth generation?

The main difference a Fifth Generation iPod has from the other iPod models is that it is the only one that has the ability to play videos.
Also, it is the most recent iPod in the "Main Generation iPods" as you might call them.
There are actually two sort of sub-Fifth Generation models.
The first one came out on October 12, 2005.
Then, recently, one came out in September 12, 2006.
There are a few differences, like longer battery life, now an 80GB model replaced the 60GB, etc.
This more recent iPod is called the "(Late 2006) Fifth Generation iPod".
Here is a picture of it (the latest one):
But generally speaking, these two versions of the Fifth Gen can be considered as the same type of group together.

  • HT204452 What to consider BEFORE an OSX reinstall?

My iMac (late 2009; 4GB memory, OS X 10.9.4) quite often seems to be slower than it used to be. I assume that one of the reasons for this slowness is that over the years whenever I updated the OS X (from OS X 10.4 or so) or got a new computer, I always took over the settings from earlier versions. Hence I thought a totally fresh re-installation of OS X (Maverick) would possibly speed things up again.
Is this assumption correct?   And if correct, what issues do I have to consider such that I do not loose my data (which i backup through TimeMachine and much of it is in the cloud).
Or are there other methods to get back to "old speeds"?
Thanks in advance for your advice. Cheers, Veit

Yes, I have Sophos Anti-Virus installed;   I do NOT have MacKeeper and CleanMyMac (been warned against them).

  • Upgrading the drive...what to consider?

I am wanting some more space but have never fooled with the drive before and I am not a computer guy to begin with.
What things do I need to consider?
Size and and rpm of course but what else?
What's about buffer size, seek time etc?
What about balance...noise and speed and power consumption?
Are there specific drives for mac?
What kind of warranty can you get?
Also if money is no option....is there a premium drive out there?
    Thanks!
Message was edited by: Michael Renwick

For notebook drives you can get drives with 8 MB and 16 MB caches. Individual drive performance is determined by many factors. Looking at benchmarks can help identify which drives may be best for your use and needs. Look for benchmarks at Bare Feats, Storage Review, and Tom's Hardware Review.
Any 2.5" SATA notebook drive that is not higher than 9.5 mm will fit in a MBP 15" model.
Warranties are typically 3 or 5 years depending upon manufacturer, drive model, and how much you pay.
No, there is no "premium" drive out there.
You can find suitable drives at:
    MacSales.com
    NewEgg.com
    Buy.com
And many other vendors that you can search for via Google.

  • Energy Settings...what is considered "Activity"

In the energy settings, it states "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for:"
What does the computer consider activity? If I'm performing MPEG-4 encoding of a movie, this could take hours. If I'm not using my computer (i.e mouse movement, keystrokes, etc.), will it go to sleep while the encoding is still being completed?

    Hello Mark,
You might find some answers here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25801
Activity is any user input, whether it's the keyboard, mouse, tuning on/off USB/Firewire devices, network and, some apps.
May I recommend setting your computer to sleep to "Never" whenever using Pro apps such as FCP, DVDSP, Compressor, etc.

Don't bother with that option, unless you are going to sell your computer and want to be sure that your data can't be recovered.
To be more specific it securely erases the unoccupied space of your hard drive, leaving the rest of your data intact.
I have no Command keys on my keyboard-how to do Command R without a Command Key?
You mean you have a PC keyboard? If that is the case the Command key translates to the key with the Windows flag.
The Alt key is the Option key on an Apple keyboard.
