Job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR - short dump (DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR)
Hi gurus,
Good day.
I would like to ask for your help with regard to the short dump that we experienced with Job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR (program RSCOLL00). The error is DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR.
Date Time Message text
24.11.2008 02:30:39 Job started
24.11.2008 02:30:39 Step 001 started (program RSCOLL00)
24.11.2008 02:30:44 ABAP/4 processor: DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR
24.11.2008 02:30:44 Job cancelled
ORA-01455 is said to be the reason why we encountered DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR.
Database error text........: "ORA-01455: converting column overflows integer datatype"
Can you advise an OSS Note or certain solution that can fix this issue? Thank you very much!
This looks like an SAP Upgrade ECC 6 Problem, right?
Do you have any idea where I can check the date when the ECC 6 upgrade or patch has been made?
I'm an ABAPer and to be honest, currentlly, I don't have any idea if the client really did an ECC 6 upgrade --- when they did it. I will just check the table that you sent.
I just had the impression that it might be due to an ECC 6 Upgrade since I saw this case over the Internet:
"DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR" and "ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error" after ERP 6.0 Upgrade ( http://sap.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-basis/dbif_setg_sql_error-and-ora-03106-fatal-two-task-communication-protocol-error-after-erp-60-upgrade-1640408 ).
Yes, we are also experiencing DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR (ORA-03106). But, I'm taking care of DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR (ORA-01455).
By the way, I saw that jobs EU_PUT and EU_REORG are being executed in background every morning at around 1 AM. And we are receiving the error DBIF_SETG_SQL_ERROR (ORA-01455) at around 2 AM - 3 AM, and a few at around 3 AM - 5 AM.
With these I have two questions:
(1) Do you think we still need to rerun EU_PUT and EU_REORG? Perhaps before 2 AM ?
(2) Do you think this is a Basis Issue and nothing to do with ABAP anymore?
Thank you very much!

Short Dumps - How to find out in which process it occured.
Hi,
I see quiet a bunch of short dumps in ST22. Like "Message Type X". I wanted to find out in which job/process short dumps have occured?
Please help me out...
Thanks in Advance....:)
Regards,
HabeebHi ,
The simplest way is to double click on a particluar dump in st22 and go in details like -What happened? ,What can you do?,How to correct the error etc .
there were plenty of options available according ot that u can dig out the error and find out the cause
(tip-usually job were failed due to some Z programs ,so better way is to search for Z* ,it will give the related object or program in most of the cases.)
hope it helps....

Short dump while executing job SM:EXEC SERVICES for EWA alert generation

> Thx Paul, but i already did checked this note and its not solving my issue
Dear Anand,
Did you perform a complete service definition replacement for SDCC/SDCCN as described in the note?
These are manual steps you need to perform on the system and are not code corrections.
I would suggest you perform it, if you have not, and check the SDCCN logs to review the process ran cleanly.
Note: Please make sure SDCC_OSS is functioning and a connection to SAP can be made before
deleting the service definitions.
If you have already replaced the service defintions on the Solution Manager system, then no point doing it again. However checking a note and applying it are not the same thing. So I am uncertain if you replaced the service definitions or not. The dump you are getting in SM:EXEC SERVICES suggests its due to a problem with the service definitons. The recommendation is to replace them according to the process described in SAP Note 727998. If you have not done so please do so.
If you have successfully replaced the service definitions are you still getting the same dump, or has it possibly changed?

How to Fetch Cancelled Jobs info along with the Short Dump Text
Hi Gurus,
I need to develop a report to fetch the cancelled jobs information for the given period. I also need to display the "Error Analysis" part of the Short Dump if it exists.
I am able to fetch the Failed Jobs information and the Job log details using the FM "BP_JOBLOG_READ". But I need to show the "Error Analysis Text" on the report , if there is any Short Dump Exists for the Dump.
Please give me your ideas to fetch the Error Analysis part of the short dump for a given Batch Job Name.
Thanks in Advance.
Best Regards,
SumalathaThe dump information is in table SNAP. You could identify which dump you want by the date & time of the failed job - let's hope you don't have more than one dump with the same time. If it is ambiguous you could also compare the program name of the failed step with the program name in the SNAP data.
The error analysis texts are in table SNAPT keyed according to which error occurred (which is data element code FC right at the start of the first record in the SNAP data). You will have to expand out the includes, and substitute the variable codes using values from the SNAP data. There is standard code to do this that you could copy - see program SAPMS380.
To find out the details of the SAP process you could run transaction ST22 via the debugger and use the same mechanism.
best wishes
Ed
PS Note these details apply to recent systems I think there may be differences if you go back to before ?2004, but I don't have such a system so can't check. You didn't say what release you have. -

Job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR canceled
Good evening everybody,
The job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR is being canceled hourly with the log below:
Date Time Message text Message class Message no. Message type
04.08.2009 15:30:55 Job started 00 516 S
04.08.2009 15:30:55 Step 001 started (program RSCOLL00, variant , user name DDIC) 00 550 S

04.08.2009 15:30:57 Job cancelled 00 518 A
The dump generated in the ST22 is CONVT_OVERFLOW
Overflow when converting from 15362394
What happened?
The current ABAP/4 program "RSHOST2M " had to be terminated because
one of the statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP/4 program.
Everyone can help me to solve this issue? Our SAP version is R/3 4.6C.
Best Regards,
Fábio Karnik TchobnianDear Friend,
Thanks for your help.
I apllied the part below from the note 903220
To remove the corrupted data in table MONI:
1. Call transaction ST03
2. With Goto -> Performance database -> Contents of Database
3. Select entry you want to delete
4. Further info will be '** delete**'
5. Confirm the delete
05.08.2009 Page 2 of 2
SAP Note 903220 - Short dumps CONVT_OVERFLOW in RSHOSTDB
or RSHOST2M
A sufficient way to find out which entries to delete would be:
- check when the short dump occured first
- delete the OS entries from MONI since the day before the first
short dump occured
The job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFFMONITOR now is not being canceled anymore , however it is happening the same dump dump from a differente program after the job is finished as the log below from the ST22
ABAP runtime errors CONVT_OVERFLOW
Occurred on 05.08.2009 at 15:50:38
Overflow when converting from "-3.10504e+231"
What happened?
The current ABAP/4 program "SAPLSTUW " had to be terminated because
one of the statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP/4 program.
What can you do?
Note the actions and input that caused the error.
Inform your SAP system administrator.
You can print out this message by choosing "Print". Transaction ST22
allows you to display and manage termination messages, including keeping
them beyond their normal deletion date.
Error analysis
When attempting to convert the value "-3.10504e+231",
an overflow occurred.
Do you have some advice?
Best Regards

RE: Short dump after activation of BADI
Hi all,
We are getting short dumps in all the transactions after activating the BADI 'BADI_LAYER'
We are not able to execute any of the transactions.
The details of runtimeerror
Runtime Errors RAISE_EXCEPTION
Date and Time 30.07.2007 09:58:06
Short text
Exception condition "SINGLE_EXIT_MULTIPLY_ACTIVE" raised.
What happened?
The current ABAP/4 program encountered an unexpected
situation.
What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
Error analysis
A RAISE statement in the program "CL_EXITHANDLER================CP" raised the
exception
condition "SINGLE_EXIT_MULTIPLY_ACTIVE".
Since the exception was not intercepted by a superior
program, processing was terminated.
Short description of exception condition:
For detailed documentation of the exception condition, use
Transaction SE37 (Function Library). You can take the called
function module from the display of active calls.
How to correct the error
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"RAISE_EXCEPTION" " "
"CL_EXITHANDLER================CP" or "CL_EXITHANDLER================CM001"
"GET_INSTANCE"
or
"CL_EXITHANDLER================CP" "SINGLE_EXIT_MULTIPLY_ACTIVE"
or
"SAPMF05A " "SINGLE_EXIT_MULTIPLY_ACTIVE"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.

55Hello Sowmya
The BAdI BADI_LAYER is not defined for <b>Multiple-Use</b> (see checkbox on tabstrip <i>Attributes</i>).
Apparently you have created <i>several </i>implementation of this BAdI and activated <i>several </i>(at least 2) of these implementations.
If you inactivate all except a single implementation the BAdI (and all transactions using this BAdI) should work again.

Short dump in custom report in production
Hi Experts,
I have a custom report which is run through SM37 as a background job. it takes long time to run and then get canceled with short dump in production but it runs fine in development.
description of short dump.
Runtime Errors DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
Exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Date and Time 03.05.2010 11:33:06
Short text
| SQL error in the database when accessing a table.Hi,
Please go through the below notes
[Note 1379839 - RuntimeError DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR Exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1379839]
[Note 1098183 - RunErr dbif_rsql_sql_error with exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1098183]
[Note 1410849 - Runtime error DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR" "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB"|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1410849]
This is mainly program error and need corrections...
Compare the Patch level on both DEV and PRD server. Also make sure, whether program you are using on developement is modified (Corrected) or standard one.
If you search for the SAP Notes with "DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR Exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB" string, you will get several hits. See the notes which are applicable in your scenario...
Regards.

What is the purpose of short dump error report generated by the system? What r the major parts/section of this report?
hi please look through this:
Whenever any transaction or any process is executed it hits an ABAP code.
If there is any issue in executing the code the situation is called "ABAP DUMP" or 'Short Dump'
Transaction ST22 is used to check any ABAP Dump within a given duration.
U can also fix the issue with the help of ABAP editor (Transaction Code SE38) if u r good with ABAP.
you can select back to the last 14 days if you are
running the SAP_REORG_ABAPDUMPS job (program RSSNAPDL) which deletes te
old ABAP dumps every day, possibly further if you run it weekly or
monthly.

Reply from Keith Lewis on 5/2/2003 3:22:00 AM
Good explanation Joy, but it is not only limited to the current day and
yesterday. If you click on the Selection button you can select previous
days as well. In fact you can select back to the last 14 days if you are
running the SAP_REORG_ABAPDUMPS job (program RSSNAPDL) which deletes te
old ABAP dumps every day, possibly further if you run it weekly or
monthly.
Cheers
Keith

Dear sreenivas
If you receive an error message in the R/3 System log (SM21), or if you
see
a terminated update in the update service analysis transaction (SM13), or
DB
realated error ,check for dumps using the dump analysis transaction
(transaction ST22), or choose Tools -> Administration -> Monitoring ->
Dump
analysis.
Transaction ST22 enables you to analyze short dumps from the current and
previous day.
The dump analysis function shows you:
What happened
What you can do
How to correct the error
The dump analysis function also provides an error ID and keywords that you
can use to search in SAPNet, as well as information about:
The system environment
Users and transactions
Transaction ST22 enables you to analyze the following data:
Date, time, user, client
Contents of system and data fields
Contents of internal tables and application tables
ST22 is a very nice feature in SAP. This is where all the system errors
and users mistakes showed up. If there is a problem that you cannot
solve and you contact SAP support, they look at this area to analyze it.
This gives us lead where to handle the problems.

Timeout Short Dump on a Data Query to a blank table.
Hi,
My program gives a short dump on quering a blank table. The dump says timeout.
what could the possible problem be.
regards,Runtime Error TIME_OUT
Occurred on 02/19/2009 at 10:35:35
Time limit exceeded.
What happened?
The program "SAPLE31C" has exceeded the maximum permitted runtime without
interruption, and has therefore been terminated.
What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
date.
Error analysis
After a certain length of time, the program is terminated. In the case
of a work area, this means that
- endless loops (DO, WHILE, ...),
- database accesses producing an excessively large result set,
- database accesses without a suitable index (full table scan)
do not block the processing for too long.
The system profile "rdisp/max_wprun_time" contains the maximum runtime of a
program. The
current setting is 5400 seconds. Once this time limit has been exceeded,
the system tries to terminate any SQL statements that are currently
being executed and tells the ABAP processor to terminate the current
program. Then it waits for a maximum of 60 seconds. If the program is
still active, the work process is restarted.
successfully processed, the system gives it another 5400 seconds.
Hence the maximum runtime of a program is at least twice the value of
the system profile parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time".
How to correct the error
You should usually execute long-running programs as batch jobs.
If this is not possible, increase the system profile parameter
"rdisp/max_wprun_time".
Depending on the cause of the error, you may have to take one of the
following measures:
- Endless loop: Correct program;
- Dataset resulting from database access is too large:
Instead of "SELECT * ... ENDSELECT", use "SELECT * INTO internal table
(for example);
- Database has an unsuitable index: Check index generation.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
~~~~~~~
The line to which it points is a select query on a table that has not records. -
What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "/RTF/CL_KYF_TRANSFORM=========CP" had to be
terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
Error analysis
The MOVE-CORRESPONDING statement can only be used on operands with a
structured type.
In the case at hand, this condition is not fulfilled: Operand "Download".
Exception condition "CNTL_ERROR" raised.
Please tell me what can be the possible reason for the same and how to avoid the same?
Warm regards
