Join 2 projects together

Hi - does anyone know if 2 projects can be joined. I have edited each half a life performance and created two projects one for each half. I would not like to append Act 2 to Act 1 can anyone let me know how this can be done please?

If you have QuickTime Pro ($30 US), you can simply append the tracks together.
In iMovie, you could SHARE the second half using SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME choosing Movie to QuickTime Movie. In the Video Options, choose Apple Intermediate Codec for the Codec. Give it a name and a location that you can find and render the movie. Then, import this movie into iMovie as an Event. You can drag the whole clip to the second half of your movie.

I created two "sequences". They are currently listed individually in the "project library". Now I want to take sequence "B" and attatch it in it's entirety to the end of sequence "A" - forming one long sequence.
I have tried to drag sequence "B" and drop it into "A's" timeline. I have tried to creat a compound clip. I'm either missing something - or - you can create a compound "clip" or a compound "event" - but perhaps you cannot link to "projects" together.
Does this help descibe my problem?

How to merge projects together in iMovie08

Hello. I want to know how I can merge my completed projects together to create one movie in iMovie08.
I tried creating a new project and then copying and pasting the different projects into that one, but it didn't work. I'm not sure what to do.
I'm trying to make a birthday gift for a very good friend, so if anyone knows how to help, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm pretty new to mac, so please try to explain in lammens terms

'merging projects' is beyond concept of iM08 ..
your options are..
1) why not keeping the projects separate? an iDVD created videoDVD can contain up to 120min of video.. so, each project is a selectable 'item' in the DVDs menu.. I like that better than 'Ben Hur II' ..
2) re-edit a master piece.. your clips and Events are still intact.. try to remember your projects as 'blueprint' and now use ALL material in ONE project.. (re-edit is never fun.. I know)
2) 'Export with Quicktime...' each project and choose 'dv-stream' or, if harddrive is big enough, 'Apple Intermediate Codec' as Quicktime export option.. re-import the files (1 project = 1 file) and stick these few 'clips' together into one new 'director's cut' ...
you'll probably notice a slight degradation of pic quality ..

Adobe has made this process much simpler in recent years.
No need to re-install any version earlier than the current version (CS6). All installers (upgrade or full) contain the full program code. The difference between full and upgrade is in the serial number.
All you need do is download (link below) and install CS6, enter the CS6 upgrade serial number then enter the CS5 serial number (even if that too is an upgrade).

Error When Linking Projects Together in Captivate 4

Hello!
I've been having some challenges linking multiple captivate projects together. I've done some research on the forums here and have noticed that this is a pretty common issue. But unfortunately for me, after following the advice that I've read, I'm still having problems. There's obviously something that I must be missing, so I'll do my best to outline what I've done in as much detail as possible in hopes that someone can help me.
Software:
I'm using Captivate version 4.0.1. Build 1658
Situation:
I'm creating an e-learning that it is made up of 8 separate projects:
Project A - Welcome Page (1 slide) which has a button that is linked to Project B
Project B - Home Page (1 slide) made up of 6 buttons, each one links to one of the 6 captivate projects (C-H) listed below
Project C - Lesson 1 (41 slides)
Project D - Lesson 2 (45 slides)
Project E - Lesson 3 (36 slides)
Project F - Lesson 4 (33 slides)
Project G - Lesson 5 (29 slides)
Project H - Lesson 6 (30 slides)

All of the links are made through text buttons, and when each button was created, in the area where it asks "If the user clicks the button", I select the "open other project" option. Then I browse to the .cp project that I want to launch after the user clicks the button. Only the relative path of the project I selected is showing in the "Project" field, then I click Apply, then OK.
Publishing:
I created a folder on my C: Drive named "MyName Captivate", and I published all of the projects to that folder. Additionally, all of the projects are also in that folder as well. When publishing the projects, I'm publishing them as Flash (.swf) files. On the publishing screen, on the "Project Title" field, I left that field unchanged (it defualts to the project's name). The "Folder" field has C:\MyName Captivate in it. I checked "Publish Files to a Folder" and "Export HTML" under Export Options.
Flash Security Settings:
I went to the Flash Security Settings and made sure that the "Always Allow" radio button was clicked, and then I went to the "Edit Locations" drop down box and navigated to the "C:\MyName Captivate" folder where all of my .cp projects are located and added it to the "Always Trust Files in These Locations" field.
The Problem:
After all of the files have been published, and I test it out in my web browser, I get the following error message when I click the button to go to the linked project (in this case, when clicked, the button is supposed to take me to Project B): "Cannot find file:///C:/Users?HP%20User/AppData/Local/Temp/cp4Temp/~Cal55B/ProjectB.htm. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct." I am confused about where that internet path is coming from, because I made sure to place all of the project files into the "C:\MyName Captivate" folder, and the button when clicked should "open other project", which in this case is Project B.
I hope that all made sense. If anyone can help guide me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help!

I believe this is an extremely common issue. Personally, I gave up trying to link projects together like this. I also wanted to offer my users a more "perpetual" interface. I wanted the user, at any time, to be able to switch to another Captivate movie - rather than being forced to navigate through more slides to find the right button to click. So, I created a product called the Launch Pad. It works by using one web page with a menu. Clicking a menu item pulls in a seperate .SWF file into the web page.
One suggestion might be to have your buttons link to fully qualified (http://myserver/myfolder) URLs instead of "projects". Each button links to the HTML file that Captivate publishes. Full URLs with the entire URL of the HTML file seem to work better than relative URLs.

Merging 2 iMovie project together

Hi,
I've builted an iMovie project in 2 part to fit it on DVD, because the lenght was too long to fit on one DVD.
Now, I need to make copies of the project to VHS. So I need to merge the 2 projects together to be able to export it to VHS using my camera as a passthrought.
What's the best way of doing so?

Hi Steve - if you are saying that the movie to be cut and pasted is 2.5 hours long, then I'm not surprised that it struggled! I would be starting to feel a bit sorry for the viewers!:-)
Ok - another way is to 'share' the movie to full Quality DV, and then import that into the other project. It WILL take some time!

Joining Tracks Together

How on earth do you join tracks together on your ipod mini?
All help would be greatly appreciated

I think he means me.
Use the join cd tracks option in the advanced menu of iTunes. Do this on importing the cd as it cannot be done afterward.
Make sure the tracks are in their correct order, and highlight those you wish to join.
No gaps, but the downside is that you will of course lose the ability to navigate between tracks, and the song info is also lost. The iPod will display the cd title in the song field in the now playing screen . Youll also have one large file instead of a number of smaller ones.

Need to join paths together into a single path

I have this image which is currently composed of separate paths.
Is there a way using pathfinder, effects>pathfinder, livepaint or some other way to group all of these together so all I have is the outline of the entire object pictured below? I'm working with programmers who need the actual paths merged into one big path (preferably dropping all of the stuff in the middle, though that's not absolutely necessary) - it's not good enough just to select all the individual paths, hit group, and name that layer; paths have to be joined.
Looked like Illustrator could do this easily, but I haven't used the program that much and I'm probably missing something simple.

I got it to work again in one case but not another.
When it works, the Expand button stops being grayed out in the pathfinder section, and upon hitting expand, a compound path is generated which has the paths I need.
EDIT --- ok, figured it out for real now.
Need to select several paths which are not yet in a group (doesn't work if they are grouped to start with)
Then Alt Click on the Unite function under Pathfinder Shape Mode
Then Expand under Pathfinder - and you're left with the compound path comprised of all the original parts (which is what I needed)

So you say, while is Revenue is there in GLPCT, all costs are not there in GLPCT? Is Cost not flowing from Cost center to Profit Center in your system?
Did you check standard library 8A*?

How to Deploy 2 project together?

I have created a Web Application[Default] project and the wizard has generated 2 projects. How can I deploy them together to run in my aplication server?

I did it, but just one project (the one where I have created the .deploy) was deployed. Should I deploy a JAR to MODEL and a WAR to VIEW and then indicate in the VIEW deploy that it depends on the MODEL deploy? doing this it semans that both will be deployed. I tryed the way you told me but just one was deployed. Thanks!

How to join projects

Due to rendering problems, I was advised by Adobe support to split a project in several ones.
I followed the advice, rendered all sub-projects and, now, I need to join all of them in one to record in DVD but found no instructions on how to do it.
I use Premiere Elements 9 in a Sony Vaio computer model VGN-FW360AJ, Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am unaware of a change with PrE 10, above the "standard" 4095 x 4096 (pixel x pixel) size, i.e. ~ 16.7 MegaPixels.
However, many, overly-large Sill Images will bring most computers to its knees, as the processing overhead of those unused pixels take a lot of processing power. Even my workstation (getting a bit behnd the performance curve now), struggles with 5 - 4096 x 4096 Still Images. When I need to work with overly-large Still Images, I just use After Effects, as it handles large Still Images in a different way, than either PrE, or PrPro does.
There are very, very few reasons to use Still Images, much above the pixel x pixel Frame Size of the Project. Users are better off Scaling Still Images in an image-editing program, such as Photoshop. This ARTICLE goes into more detail. Note: there have been some changes in both the quality of internal Scaling, plus the allowable pixel x pixel size, in PrPro CS 5/5.5, over previous versions of that program, and all versions of PrE, BUT most of those changes revolve around the use of PrPro's MPE (Mercury Playback Engine) w/ a CUDA-capable nVidia video card. Even then, there is still the resources issue, and most computers begin choking, when one has many overly-large stills - that has not changed.
When properly Scaled, prior to Import, things go very well, and I have one Project with 3000+ Stills, Scaled to 720 x 480, plus 100's of other Assets, and it edits smoothly, even on my older laptop.

Can you put multiple projects together in iMovie?

I want to make a dvd that has several different iMovie projects on the dvd separated with Chapter markers. Can you put an existing project into another existing project in iMove and then mark the separation with Chapter markers? Then you can save it as one project and export it to iDVD.

A better way is to create different iMovie projects, then export them as Quicktime files (best quality), import those files into a new iMovie project, make them different chapters, then to iDVD.

I have 100 data files, I want to join them together as one data file

I need to join approx. 100 data files into one data file, and be able to read back each data file from that one big file. I would also like a feature to count how many files are in the main one file. The data files contain graphs, text and numerics.

What you want to do is not going to be easy to implement. The idea is that files are just binary data and you can join the data into one binary file. The trick is going to be creating the appropriate header for the binary file to include things like file location--the beginning and end of a subfile--as well as the number of files. The exact structure of the header is really left up to you and your imagination.
Why do you want to join all the files into one? It sounds like what you have works now and making one file increases the chances that all of your data will be lost if the file becomes corrupted. Also LabVIEW is limited to files of about 2GBytes, so you will be more likely to run into this limit.

Splice 2 projects together

How do I splice project A onto project B to create project AB?

Probably the best way is to export either A or B to the Desktop using QuickTime or Share Movie... save to .m4v to the desktop. Then import that Project back into iMovie into a new Event Folder. Then drag whichever one you chose to export into the Project Browser for the non-exported project.
