JPEGS won't import

I searched the forum but only found issues with blurry JPEGS. My JPEG file won't even import. When I go to import-file-pictures all of the JPEGS are in gray. The computer won't allow me to choose them. Any ideas?
Thanks!
P.S. These files are taken directly from a digital camera. They were not saved in Photoshop

Yes, they are gray out as a menu option. They are not black and white photos.
I copied the photos to a disc and put the disc in the drive. Then I copied the photos to a folder and attempted to import that folder. No go.
I can import the images directly from the disc but I can't eject the disc without losing the media (of course)
I tried copying out of the bin to a folder and then ejecting the disc, but no joy
Huh?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Media Encoder CC won't import a JPEG sequence to the queue

I am running Media Encoder CC 7.2.2.29 (64-bit) on OSX 10.9.4.
I have a JPEG sequence GoPro timelapse image sequence that I want to encode into a video clip. All files have a .jpg extension. They are 4000x3000 and have an RGB color space. The Color profile is SRGB IEC61966-21. All images are 3.9MB.
According to the ME help I should do the following.
To add an image sequence, choose File > Add Source. In the Open dialog box, choose the first file of the image sequence. Enable the  Sequence Import checkbox for your file type, and then click the Open button.
I follow the instructions and select the first image in the sequence. The "JPEG File Sequence" checkbox is active and I check it and click the Open button. The dialog disappears and nothing happens. There are no warnings.
How does one get JPEG sequences to import to the queue?
    Please advise.

Yes, import into premiere work fine. The nice part about using AME directly is you don't have to have to create a project or use an old one every time you want to crunch a timelapse. Also, AME has this nice feature where it will autoname the output file IMG[FirstStill]-[LastStill] (ie IMG[GP001234-GP001297]). This was helpful because GoPros change the first number in the sequence every time you stop and start time lapse.

  • Isplash and Colorize files save as JPEG but Iphoto won't import them in.

I bought both Isplash and Colorize apps to use the edited photos in an imovie video.  The programs both import my iphoto files seamlessly for coloring but when I try and save them in Iphoto or import them into iphoto I get this error.
the file could not be imported (the file is in the iphoto library)
    Help?!

the file could not be imported (the file is in the iphoto library)
iPhoto won't import files that are already in the working Library package. How did they get there?
I'm guessing that you did not use either of these apps as an external editor?
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • IPhoto won't import Nikon D70 raw files after upgrade to Leopard

I recently upgraded to Leopard, and yesterday, I hooked my Nikon D70 up to the computer. iPhoto auto starts, and tells me that there are pictures to import. When I click the import button, iPhoto tells me that it is importing the photos, (which are in Nikon raw format) but in fact, it is not. The photos don't "flash" across the screen as they are being imported as they used to. When iPhoto thinks it is done, there are no new photos on my hard drive. A spotlight search confirms that fact.
Jpeg photos still import just like they used to. Only raw photos don't import.
If I manually open iPhoto, and click on file then import, I can find my cameras CF card, and highlight the photos I want to import, and iPhoto will then import raw photos. It won't import them with the simple attach the camera, one click import that I have grown used to. My D70 is a supported camera for iPhoto, and it used to work in OSX 10.4. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I had the same prob with my mac and my D70.
I did an upgrade to leopard from tiger. After that, iPhoto would not import photos. The camera and pics would show up in the app, and would let me try an import, but it would come up with an error saying "20 photos were in an incompatible format and could not be imported".
Since upgrading to Leopard, image capture wouldn't work either. App would run and then wouldn't. Would crash and error. Wouldn't import photos at all either.
I was able to manually drag photos from my camera to the desktop and then import into iPhoto.
iPhoto wasn't the only thing playing up on my mac (networking, file permissions, backlit keyboard, software update, ffmpeg app were all problematic), so I backed up everything I wanted to keep to an external drive and did an erase and install of Leopard. This has fixed practically every problem I had. Do the same if you can, cos it has made my mac a pleasure to use again.

  • LR 4.3 won't import

Installed Lightroom 4.3 update Saturday. Won't import anything Raw or JPG.
Get Message: Could not copy a file to the requested location. (1)
I rebooted and tried other files with no success
    Documentation:

    Hello Dj,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.(FYI my user level is someplace between intermediate and advanced.)
    Here is the rundown.
Different cards with files written from different cameras both JPEG and NEF are not importing, "not readable." The cameras I used to trouble shoot include, D4, D3, D800 and a 5DM2. I'm aware of the dups import button etc.
I reserved a CF card from a job not delivered which includes files that I imported with no problem in the older version of LR just last week with no problem. LR rejects the images on this card as not readable.
LR will not import anything, zippo.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Photos show up in preview and then won't import

Using LR 3.3 and MacBook Pro.  No problems importing photos until recently.  Using a memory card reader to import photos all the time, I have had problems with my last three memory cards.  The first of the three imported half of the card and the last half led to an error message: "Import Results: The following files were not imported because they could not be read 1 - 100, 101 - 197.  Then gave me the option to "save as" and no other information.  My last two memory cards didn't import at all although each of the photos was displayed in the preview thumbnails and the same error message was displayed again.  I later tried to import one of the memory cards using my card reader into iPhoto and it worked fine.  All files are in RAW format.  I already have over 1500 photos in LT that imported using the same hardware just fine.  What's up?  HELP!

I have what looks like a very similar problem. So if you get (or *got*) a solution, please let me know.
I’ve been using Lightroom since the 3rd beta, but never run into this problem before. It seemingly won’t let me ingest photos. (I typically ingest RAW and convert to .dng, but it won’t even let me copy without converting to .dng.)
I’ve tried two different card readers, two different cards with photos (one CF, one SDHC), plus copied photos from the CF card on to my Desktop and tried to ingest from there. I also have an autoimport folder on my Desktop (for bringing in scanned files from my scanner) which won’t import. :-( This used to work like a charm.
I’m running LR v3.4.1 on a Mac Pro with 14 GB RAM. I’ve run Apple Disk First Aid, plus the latest version of Diskwarrior on this hard drive: no problems found.
The photos can be previewed on the two cameras they came from. I can see them in Lightroom before I try ingesting.
The error message which comes up after I click to ingest is: “Some import operations were not performed” and inside that window: “the following files were not imported because they could not be read. (466),” then it shows the folder structure. All the photos I”m trying to import are RAW files, but the ones sent to my auto-import folder on the Desktop from my scanner were RAW, tiff and jpeg. None would auto-import. :-(
    Any solution for me?

  • Lightroon 2.5 won't import raw files

Lightroom 2.7 won't import raw files from folder. After I choose files and click they come up as a white file that says (preview not available for this image )  and I  can't go any further. Have no trouble importing JPEGS.

So, what changed? Assuming the camera is supported in LR 2.7 then something changed...you still haven't indicated the OS...I would try a card reader (takes the camera setting out of the factor).

  • Lightroom 4 won't import any of my files

    Hi,
I have been using Lightroom 4 for about 4 weeks now with no problems importing files. I have the Canon 5D 3 and to start with I was converting the files to Dng and importing them from the hard disk, then when the 4.1 candidate was released I downloaded that and was able to Import straight into Lightroom.
As from yesterday I can not import anything into Lightroom at all. I have tried going back to converting to dng and importing from the hard drive, I then tried to import some jpegs still no and I have tried files from my 7D with different memory cards to rule out any conflict here but still nothing. I have un-installed and re-installed the program with no success, I just get a box saying "These files have not been imported because they cannot be read" but with no more explanation why.

Won't IMPORT any files!!! Have deinstalled and re-installed LR CC, downloaded the latest DNG converter, used that to convert my Canon 1D X files to DNG, tried to import those DNG files, error. Error reads as follows:
    Import Results
Some import operations were not performed.
The following files were not imported because the could not be read. (383)
    Suggestions anyone? Thank you!

  • Files that won't import to iPhoto

I keep encountering files (png and jpeg) that wont' import into iPhoto even though they are fine in all other programs. I am using iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. Any help would be appreciated. I use iPhoto to organize all my digital scrapbooking supplies, so not being able to import into it is a problem.
    Thanks!

Usual reasons why a photo won't import:
Unsupported Colour Profile - iPhoto works with RGB (which is what camera's shoot in) not CYMK or Greyscale
Malformed Metadata on the file - try open it in Preview, Save it, and then import it.
    Regards

  • Some photos in iphoto won't import to imovie

I have 196 photos in an iphoto album and only 37 are imported to imovie. When viewing the photo info it is apparent that the ones that won't import were created by scanning color slides. These have missing information such as origination date, digitization date and all camera and exposure information.
Does imovie prevent importation because of this type of information that is missing when the colr slides were scanned?

Try opening one of the problem jpeg files in Preview, then Save As a jpeg with a different name. For some reason, certain jpegs created in 3rd party applications are not always recognised as such by some Mac software. It could be to do with how some scanners save files. Some time ago I had an issue like this - re-saving the files in Preview fixed the problem. From memory, it related to an Epson photo stitching program (for doing panoramas) - the files were saved as jpegs, but wouldn't import to iPhoto. Saving again with Preview solved it.
It's worth a try! If one works, they all should work once re-saved (quite a few to work through though).

I have an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes.
All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem. The movie in question is not 'corrupt' as you can watch it in iMovie direct from the SD card but as soon as you try to import it, it  just says 'error'. iIve tried moving the file to an external drive ( and other variations on this theme) then importing but have had no luck.
    Can anyone please help me.

    The mystery remains....
Thanks for the pointers. The file type is .mts (a proprietry sony one).
I have now found some video converter software (Wondershare and iSkysoft) at a cost. Either will convert this file for me into .mp4. This I can then import into iMovie without any problems. I've checked this on the trial versions and it worked well but without paying am left with a giant watermark in the video
The mystery (which I still havent solved) is why did 20 other .mts files import fine and then this one not?
If you could point me in the direction of some free .mts converter software that would be the cherry on the cake.
    Thanks

  • IMovie HD won't import from Sony HDR-HC1

iMovie HD 5.0.2 (111) on my G5 desktop controls, but won't import from, my new little Sony HDR-HC1 1080i DV camcorder. Same was the case with my 12" 1 GHz PowerBook until, at the advice of a Manhattan Beach Genius Bar tech, I did an archive reinstall of 10.4 and a reinstall of iMovie HD on both my G5 PowerMac and G4 PowerBook and then downloaded all the updates. Now my PowerBook works, but my PowerMac still won't import. On an empty second HD in my PowerMac I installed OS 10.4 and iMovie HD ONLY (to create as sterile as possible of an environment), made the 2nd HD my startup drive, and still iMovie HD on my PowerMac will not import from this camera (although it will from an older Sony VX-1000 regular def camcorder).
Does anybody have any solutions, or any idea why iMovie HD now imports on my PowerBook but after the same makeover still won't on my PowerMac?
Per earlier posts, I tried playing some piano notes in Garage Band, trashing the iMovie preference files, and reinstalling QuickTime (the tech had heard QT 7.0.3 could be at fault from becoming corrupted in certain updating combinations), all to no avail.

I have had import/capture problems using FW drives with FCE/iMovie5 and my 2gig iMac. My canon GL2 works fine but only when no other FW devices are connected to the FW port I use the computers internal drive to capture. If your using the G5's internal SATA drives this (below) may not apply.

Some G5 users have had to purchase a FW PCI card or have the G5 front FW port replaced. Check this link.

  • My iPod won't import all the songs on iTunes

My iPod Classic won't import all the songs in iTunes. Any ideas?

    Hello Tony,
It sounds like you are trying to transfer music from your iPod to your computer.
Are the songs that are transferring over iTunes purchases?  Music imported from a CD or other source that is on your iPod cannot be transferred to a computer from your iPod, but music purchased from the iTunes Store can.  You can find more information at the following link:
