JS CS3: ScriptUI - window and panel loses focus on Mac

Hi,
Have made a script to export selected textframes as text files.
When the script runs on a PC the script window stays in front of the document as intended.
Much to my surprise this is not the case on Mac, On Mac the script loses focus and goes behind the document.
Is this a bug or is there a workaround?
Using the folowing to create/start the UI.
var win = new Window( "window", "Text Exporter" );
win.myPanel = win.add("panel");
with(win){
    win.Pnl = add('panel', undefined, 'Textframes for export');
    win.Pnl.orientation = 'column';

Something is wrong.
That's not the behavior that I see using palettes.
The only way I can get a palette to become inactive is by switching to
a different document window. Even when it becomes inactive (greyed
out), it does not require extra clicks...
If you want to activate it programatically, it's win.active = true.

    No.
Adobe only offers a Platform Swap on current software: Order product | Platform, language swap
CS3 is also too old to have an "upgrade path" and is no longer sold or supported by Adobe.
You do, as a CS3 owner, qualify for a 40% discount on your first year of a Creative Cloud Subscription though: Creative Cloud pricing and membership plans | Adobe Creative Cloud
If you don't want to go with the subscription service, Adobe does still offer CS6 (4 versions away from current & no longer receiving updates) as a "one time payment/download" perpetual license: Creative Suite 6

Serial numbers for older versions do not work across platforms.
At one time, when the product was current, you could get Adobe to switch you to the other platform, but I don't know whether Adobe will do that for old versions.  I do know it's not going to work if you try to use your Windows license for a Mac installation.

It sounds unlikely of course. But from your question it's hard to tell what might have filled your HDD. Are you constantly on file sharing or has filled the drive with movies?
Best way to tell is to start checking what folders occupy space. "Get Info" for the HDD and its subfolders is a way to start checking where the data in question resides.
And as BGreg say, call Apple support is also a good way to begin with.

  • Can I buy any copy of Windows and run it on my Mac with Boot Camp?

I was thinking about buying Windows and running it on my Mac. I was also wondering if I could like put Windows on an external hard drive plug it into my computer and then use it that way? Would that work?

From Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support
    Supported versions of Windows
    (Authentic, single, full-installation)
Windows XP: Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 (Boot Camp 3)
Windows Vista: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate, Service Pack 1 or later (Boot Camp 3)

  • Resizing windows and panels?

This seems strange to me, but maybe I'm missing something.   I can't resize the panels horizontally if the "inspector/library/file browser" pane is shown.  At the same time, maximizing the window sends the bottom of the motion window behind the dock, and attempts to resize it just cause it to go away instead of resizing.  Is it necessary to hide the dock? or not be able to resize the window and adjust the layout?

Do not even try to use Partition Magic. If you do an operation on your Windows disk using Partition Magic, Partition Expert or any other such program, you will not be able to boot your Windows!
when bootcamp creates Windows partition, it sets this partition as active. thus, Windows sees this partition as C drive, and can boot without any problem. But, if you use such a program, It will corrupt the MBR, C: drive will disappear for windows, and it will not boot. This can even make bootcamp unable to run anymore!
I tried to partition my windows partition like that for installing linux, and it screwed up! I could repartition and install windows+linux (triple boot). But this was really a pain! but right now I am unable to use BootCamp. i manually extract the drivers.
And you talk about resizing OSX partition via Partition Magic. This can even damage hole system! I just tried to divide Windows partition in 2, and I lost Windows and BootCamp. if you try resizing OSX partition, you will lose everything as your MAC does not use old HD partitioning scheme like PCs do!
I suggest you to not try that... It is easier to reinstall windows. So the best way is to use BootCamp for deleting Windows, and recreating Windows partition afterwards. Try getting the Image of your Windows partition before erasing it. Maybe after resizing, you can use your old Windows image, so you will not have to install Windows from scratch...

  • I have Adobe Flash CS3 for Windows. Recently I switched to Mac and the serial key won't work.

Can I change my Windows version to a Mac version without buying the program all over again?

    Hi,
Unfortunetely Flash is platform specific which means if you have windows you cannot install it on mac.
Adobe offers cross platform from Win to MAC but only applies for current shipping version. You need to request for cross paltform upgrade and pay the upgrade price..
    Please see : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm l
    Hope this helps.

  • Overlapping Windows and Panels Question

Hi, I have photoshop cs5 for the mac and I want to display 2 images of my project.  I did this buy going to window>arrange>New Window For "project name"  I want to be able to see one zoomed out and just have it displaying in the top corner.  I position this new window on the top of my screen, but when I click on my "main" window, the new one just goes behind it and disappears.
My question is can I have my "main working window" tabbed in photoshop, while I have the smaller zoomed out duplicate window floating on top of it?
I would like for the smaller window to always be on top of my "main" working window of my project even while I have the "main" window selected.  Is this possible on the mac version?
To solve this, I can make both of them floating windows and position them so that they do not overlap, but this takes up a lot of room on the screen.
I hope this description makes sense.  Thanks in advance.

I have application frame turned on and it does not work.  The navigator is ok, but its too small and you cannot edit in it like you can in another copy of the project.
I have seen photoshop work in the way I describe, but it was on Windows.  Could this just not be possible with the mac os?
    Thanks for the quick replies

  • I run windows on my mac for school. went into windows and cant get back to mac. how would i get back to the mac i love

i run windows on my mac for school. went into windows and now cant get back to the mac i love please help

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • After installing cs3 on windows 7 i lose internet connectivity

I install cs3 and everything goes fine... I can open programs and they work, but it shuts down my Internet connection! i can still see my local network but no Internet. when i uninstall cs3 my connection returns straight away.... adobes answer to this was give us £550 to upgrade!! what a joke!!! I'am running win 7 pro 32bit

before i installed i run ipconfig....
    192.168.1.151
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.1.12
it all works fine, the cs3 installed and all programs work! however when i restart my machine i lose the internet.
i run ipconfig again and got the following...
    192.168.1.151
    255.255.255.0
    0.0.0.0
    192.168.1.12
its seems cs3 affects dynamic ip's, so i set a static IP, restarted my machine and now everything works fine!!!!!
thanks yet again adobe for not helping!!!

  • After a search page renders, the NEW FF does NOT open up a choice in a new window and you lose the search page. WHY? I do not like this!

every internet browser keeps the main page that renders when you do a search. you can click on any of the options and a new window opens. the latest version of FF i downloaded today has completely removed that feature. when you click on a search choice, it opens up in the same window as the search page and you loose all your search options. that is not good..
i may have to go to Chrome now unless you can fix this

hello, this might be a preference in your google search settings. go to google.com/preferences and enable the option to ''Open search results in a new browser window''.

I have CS3 Design Premium for Windows on an old laptop but want to switch it to my new Mac, how would I go about this?
Do I have to pay for an upgrade to CS6, then somehow switch the license then download to my Mac? Also, I'm a student so it would be a student priced upgrade.

You can either upgrade or move to Creative Cloud. But since you’re a student an upgrade does not exist so just pick the student version you want and go with that.

    This is ok in Mac.
Also in Mac When I'm printing image in Landscape it print image in 2 pages.
Image really fits in landscape mode and there is no need for second page.
I thought that the problem is margins..., but changing them do smaller values doesn't help.
    Can someone help out?

Hi, I also have the same problem that cannot print preview on .jpg image.

  • CS3, 3d apps and  Pro apps on a mac book

I'm really torn between getting the macbook pro and the macbook. It boils down to money at the end of the day.
But what i need to know before choosing which to go for, is how well do apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver and Cinema 4d perform on the macbook compared to the macbook pro.
    Thanks

They will run fairly well. I used to have an earlier version of the MB and I ran photoshop, imovie and idvd heavily on it. While it wasn't a speed demon, it still performed adequately. The new MB has much better graphics and a faster front side bus, so I imagine it will be more than adequate as long as you don't mind working on a smaller screen. Your other option is to go to the applestore and look at refurbished mbp's. They are being discounted quite a bit right now.
