JSF 2 on SAP CE 7.11

Hello,
I'm trying to deploy a JSF 2.0 application on my SAP WAS CE 7.11. I've not found so much document explaining clearly what is the JSF supported version of CE 7.11(if someone can tell me it would be great).
I'm getting exception when trying to deploy my application (not the same error depending of the JSF 2 implementation used).
Does someone know if it's possible to deploy JSF 2 application on SAP CE 7.11?
Is there a solution for the above  issues?
Do you know when and which version of SAP WAS JSF version 2 is supported?
Here is the error I get with the different implementation:
Sun Mojarra 2.0.4 :
[EXCEPTION]
javax.servlet.ServletException: The stream has already been taken by method [getOutputStream()].
Apache Myfaces 2.0.3
[EXCEPTION]
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory: javax.faces.application.ApplicationFactory

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
I'm sorry but I've found this in JSF2.1 spec:
JSF is based on the following Java API specifications:
■ JavaServer Pagesu2122 Specification, version 2.1 (JSPu2122) <http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/>
■ Javau2122 Servlet Specification, version 2.5 (Servlet) <http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/>
■ Javau21222 Platform, Standard Edition, version 5.0 <http://java.sun.com/j2se/>
■ Javau21222 Platform, Enterprise Edition, version 5.0 <http://java.sun.com/j2ee/>
■ JavaBeansu2122 Specification, version 1.0.1 <http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/docs/spec.html>
■ JavaServer Pagesu2122 Standard Tag Library, version 1.2 (JSTL) <http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/jstl/>
From my point of view JSF 2 is also based on JEE 5. So should be able to integrate JSF 2 application in WAS 7.11.
Am I wrong?

    Hello Gurus,
I have a JSF web application which I have deployed on the SAP NetWeaver Server 7.3 , but when trying to access the same I get the error

    Hi Ingo,
Yes - Ive tried every possible combination and here is my findings...
I don't think the 32-bit version of the SAP Java Connector (2.1.8) works on a Windows 2003 x64 SAP J2EE 7.0, i.e. the sapjco.jar file. I created a directory and added it to the CLASSPATH of the J2EE server (server and instance) and I also added it to the Java classpath using: java -jar <path+sapjco.jar> -classpath. Executing this command brings up a SAP Java connector window where it displays information of the version, location of the sapjcorfc.dll file etc. This windows opens, but is not able to display the information. If I do exactly the same with the x64 bit version of the SAP Java connector (2.1.8) it displays the information correctly in the SAP Java connector popup. I've tried copying the sapjcorfc.dll and the librfc32.dll to both the /system32 and the SYSWOW64 directory on the server.
HOWEVER, in CMC the Role Import tab still does not work - I just get the text null (in red). Before adding the sapjco.jar to the java classpath I got another error on the Role import tab - something like /com/sap/mw/jco/$JCOFunction. So it seems like it is now able to find the sapjco.jar file, but can not use it properly.
The big question is now: Should the sapjco.jar file actually be on the Application server or on the BOE Server? I know it says on the application server in all documentation, but that generally assumes Tomcat and all installed on one server.
BOE uses the sapjco.jar file to connect to the BW system to import the roles and that must be the BOE server doing that job and not the Application server???
Just my thoughts - maybe we can discuss this at Teched in Phoenix? :o)
    Best regards,
    Jacob

  • JSF with RichFaces application on SAP CE 7.1

    Hi
We are trying to run our jsf application on SAP server. But sap is throwing the error:
"Application error occurred during the request procession."
Error occured in invoking event "contextInitialized()" on listener class com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener.
Details: "The WebApplicationException log ID is [7E39AC51FF0B001B000003AC000D30641A8D49BEAD282A6D]."
We are using the jars (richfaces-api-3.3.3..Final.jar, richfaces-impl-3.3.3.Final.jar, richfaces-ui.3.3.3.Final.jar) attached. Please let us know if we need to use some other configuration for SAP server. This is working fine on Jboss without any issues.
    Regards
    Abu Bakar

I'm getting the same error and the freestyle.jsp does not help either.
By the way, the error posted above is related to the SLD, which is not installed with CE 7.1. I don't think that has anything to do with VC... Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hi
Why dont you enable RFCs in the SAP system as WebServices and consume them? If you have a very old SAP system then use JCo (JCA) / JRA and connect through the RFC layer.
    [Consume Webservices in 7.3|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/ca/97f68ba5034d0fb21c518f0cac1432/frameset.htm]

  • JSF Tomcat to SAP migration problems.

    Hello everyone,
I'm working on trying to deploy our current application to the SAP AS. Currently the application is in .war format and runs fine on Tomcat 5.0.
I've followed the instructions that are posted in the following blog /people/michael.esslinger/blog/2006/01/09/javaserver-faces-on-web-as, and was able to re-create the WAR and EAR files to deploy. The application is deployed, but I run into this error at startup:
    Initialization of servlet <JavaServerFaces> failed!
    The error is: java.lang.NullPointerException: nullnull
    followed by
Warning occurred on server 3313950 during startApp sap.com/apriori_ear : Initialization of servlet [JavaServerFaces] failed. Check the init() method of the servlet. Error is: [java.lang.NullPointerException].
I've researched into the NullPointerException problem on multiple websites, and made changes to my web.xml according to the walkarounds to the same problem from the people with different AS, however none of those seem to make the error to go away.
If anyone could provide a guidance as to what might be causing this error, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Cyril

    Hi,
im having the same problem using a webapplication with velocity templates based on struts.
is there a kind of incompatibility of J2EE Engine 7.00 to velocity?
Or did you find a resolution for your problem?
    thanks!

  • IllegalStateException while requesting a JSF page

    Hello all,
I have a JSF (Oracle ADF) application deployed on a WAS 6.4 (SP 16). The application mostly works fine but sometimes I get an IllegalStateException while requesting a page.
The error appears sporadical and isn't repeatable. After repeating the request the site appears as suggested.
This is the errormessage from the WAS:

By the way: the application runes fine on a jboss.
    thanks a lot,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
The reason for this exception is that the WAS uses a pool of request objects. So when one request-response cycle ends, the participated request and response objects are returned back in the pool to be used for next client request.
So this exception means that your application has somehow a reference to request object that is already returned back in the pool and any method invocation on this object is prohibited.
    Please check for such behavior.

    Diyan

Thank yoiu guys for helping me : this my very first jsf application

    Hello,
Like you said it was the problem with url.
The webservice I used is actually running on the local machine (where the NetWeaver developer studio is installed); so in the url I had specified localhost. But I deployed the application on another server(SAP J2EE Engine). That is why it didn't work. On changing the url as required, the application is working fine.
    Thanks !
    Regards,
    Loveline.

That's a pretty decent error message. Have you eliminated the potential causes which were listed in the message?

  • Portal Development using JSF & Struts

Can some one explain about the feasibility of developing portals using JSF and Struts? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing so? Is it a right decision to develop portal servers using these?

Yes I am familiar with all those links. Let me break down scenario and ask specific questions.
    Server version: Netweaver 7.0 (2004s) SP18
    1. Created External Library DC (i.e. ebuslib)
             - added 3rd party JARS (e.g. hibernate, Spring)
             - created two public parts - one for compilation, one for assembly (deploy)
             - activated activity
    2. Create J2EE Server Component - Library DC (i.e. ebuslib2)
              - added "ebuslib" assembly PP as Used DC (build only)
    3. Built "ebuslib2"
              - can see jars in the resulting sda file.
              - activated activity
              - confirmed on J2EE engine deployed library containing the jars.
    Scenarios
    A. EP Project DC
               - needs access to 3rd party jars
               - QUESTION: What do I need to reference? The External Library DC or the J2EE Server Component Library DC?
                             - I read that you should reference the J2EE Server Component BUT the jars are not available in the PP of that DC.
                             - One developer one talked to referenced the compilation PP of the External Library DC (i.e. "ebuslib").
                                     - this seemed to work but then I wondered how the project finds the JAR at runtime?
QUESTION: Does SAP load all the classes that have been deployed via the J2EE Server Component Library DC method and hence those JARs are globally available at runtime hence no need to reference them during development except for compilation? What if > 1 J2EE library contain the same jar or same API but different versions (e.g. Hibernate 2 vs 3).
Thanks for any clarifications. I want to understand the underlying technology and how it works. I have seen alot of information out there but some of it is confusing and conflicting.

We have Sap Portal 7.3 ramp up in our company. In my jsf 1.2 application when i reference in application-j2ee-engine.xml file
         <reference reference-type="weak">
              <reference-target target-type="application" provider-name="sap.com">
                   com.sap.km.application
              </reference-target>
         </reference>
    it gives me following error:
Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory: javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory
When i remove km reference in application-j2ee-engine.xml file, it works.

    Hi Jose,
    sap wrote.
    1. Open the EAR file of your application
    2. Create "lib" folder inside the EAR application
    3. Add xerces parser implementation inside the "lib" folder of the EAR
    4. Redeploy your application.
So you can try if this solves your issue, I didn't have the time to test it yet.
Would be nice if you post here if your issue is solved by adding xerces parser.
    Best regards
    Nico
