JSSE with IE5.0 with 128 bit (Tomcat4.0)

Hi,
I'm using Tomcat4.0 with ssl (jsse) and it works properly except with IE5.0 (128 bit). I've heard that this is a bug of IE 5.0 but due to we want to reach as many customers as possible and secruity ist not as important I want to ask if somebody can tell me how I can reduce the RSA 128 to RSA 40 (for example) in order to let IE5.0 work properly.
Thanx in advance
Oliver

Hi,
I haven't solve that problem but I found out how to work around.
I've forced TC to use the 40 bit cipher and then it works properly, less secure but even faster.
If somebody needs to know how please email me.
Oliver

Where can I get Messaging Server 3.5 with 128-bit encryption?
    <P>
Messaging Server 3.5 is available for export (40-bit encryption)
and domestic (128-bit encryption). The domestic version includes
    support for Fortezza.

It can be updated from any computer with an Internet connection but is best done from the computer which it normally syncs with. The update itself is free; if you have someone do it for you, you may be charged.

  • ITunes replacing 256 bit songs with 128 bit songs

When I downloaded new applications from the App Store today, I noticed that my downloads in iTunes also downloaded six songs.  Upon further inspection, it replaced three Peter Gabriel Songs from the Album "So" with 128 bit versions, and moved my 256 bit versions to the trash.    I purchsed six songs, total, off of that album, but only three were replaced and deleted.
In addition to moving the above songs to the trash, it also sidelined a handful of songs by copying new versions, including:
I've been Everywhere, Johnny Cash, Unchained
Baby Baby, Amy Grant,  (no record of previous purchase from this same album)
New York, New York, Tony Bennett, Fifty Years (previously had a 128 bit version, and it downloaded a second 128 bit version)
Anyone else experience this?  You can easily check after the fact by sorting on recently modified songs, and see if you have any 128 bit versions, or if you don't empty your trash often, by looking for the "Original iTunes Purchases" in your trash.  This will show any files that have been deleted, but not sidelined.

I saw ginbear's post and looked again.  I had two more replaced files.  Appears they were replaced on 1/22 and 1/24 of this year.  I have a couple thousand iTunes tracks, and it only seems to replace a couple ever few months.  Luckily, I was able to retrieve the files.  One from a recent backup, and the other from a one-off copy I made just in case, the last time it happened.
Here's the response I received from Apple after pursuing it for a couple weeks the last time it happened.  They looked at specific tracks iTunes had downloaded.
I'm not sure what the representative is trying to say, but I was glad they looked into the issue.
    10/13/2011
Name, this issue is one that does not occur often (I myself have only encountered one other instance of this happening). This may have been caused by a technical error in the iTune Store itself resulting in the pre-upgraded file to download automatically to your account which has been only been known to happen on very rare occasion.
The other explanation may have been an error in iTunes, or with your iTunes library file that caused the 128-bit DRM files to replace your 256-bit DRM free files. For example, if your iTunes library was restored from an iTunes library file before the upgrade was made.
In any case, it is not the iTunes Store's intent to replace your music with pre-upgraded files so I am very glad to hear that you were able to recover your iTunes Plus music, and do not appear to have any files missing.
I want to make sure that you are able to enjoy your iTunes Plus music, so please feel fee to let me know if there is anything further I can assist you with in regards to your files. Thank you for your continued patience name. I hope you have an excellent day!

  • AP1200 dual SSID's with 128 bit encryption

I trying to setup a AP1200 radio with two different SSID's with encryption.
Each SSID must use a different 128 bit WEP encryption.
Both SSID's must have simultaneous access to the wireless radio.
I get the client & radio associated but can not pass
data. And the Clients Link Speed is listed at 1Mbps.
Any help on the would be greatly appreciated.

I too have tried this (multiple SSIDs with multiple wep keys). After re-reading the document pointed to in the previous reply I still do not know how to set multiple WEP keys and assign them to the SSIDs. The document doesn't mention WEP keys at all.
Anone have a sample config using more than 1 WEP key and multiple SSIDs?

  • Problems with IE and 128-bit encryption -- correction

Repost with corrected e-mail address -- sorry!
Hello. I'm having a problem with 128-bit SSL and Internet Explorer.
I'm using WebLogic 5.1 (128-bit build) and a Verisign certificate.
We're seeing some strange behavior with Internet Explorer. It seems to
work fine from some machines, but doesn't work from others. On the ones
that it doesn't work, it gives the "The page cannot be displayed"
message. I've tried this with IE 4.0.1 (with 128-bit patch) and IE 5.5
(128-bit by default) and have the same problems with both. We're seeing
this problem across various Windows operating systems, but aren't seeing
any pattern there. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

The Mozilla browsers which include Firefox has supported 256-bit even encryption for a long time now.
The issue could perhaps be the e-qip site is still looking for the old obsolete '''U''' in the useragent which was used to specify the encryption strength of 128-bit though 256-bit has been supported for a long while already at time by Mozilla applications. This "U" was removed in Firefox useragent as of 4.0 which was released March 22nd, 2011. The old 3.6.x was the last to have it.

  • 128 bit encryption

I am currently developing a web site.
And one of the requirements is to enforce 128 bit encryption.
We are currently using weblogic 6.0 sp1.
If I try to connection our web site without 128 bit encryption on my IE 5,
IE 5 just tells me that
    it could not find url.
How could I check in http:// to see if user's browser is 128 bit encryption
    compatible?
So that I can send them over to https:// with 128 bit encrytion or if they
    are not compatible,
I can give a link to them to download patch.
    Please help.
    Thank you in advance.

Safari does have 128 bit encryption; it's the web site that's been coded to sniff for certain browsers, like IE or Firefox. Complain to your bank and tell them to fix it so it works on all standards-compliant browsers, regardless of platform.

  • How do I get 128-bit encryption in Firefox 4.0 for a financial website?

I need 128-bit encryption capability on my web browser in order to use a specific financial website for bill paying, The site's encryption test shows that Firefox 4.0 (newly installed) does not provide that level of security. Help?

I think the www.opm.gov site may be looking for the '''U''' that was in the Firefox 3.6 and earlier useragents as it was one of the things removed in Firefox 4.0 and newer useagents. The site says it recognizes the browser but does not detect that your web browser supports 128-bit high encryption which contradicts.
The "U" stands for "USA" (for the version with 128-bit encryption) (since 1996).

  • SSL, 128-bit encryption problem

    Hi
I need to establish a connection over SSL with 128-bit encryption from my
client application to Active Directory. But when a connection is established
I look at the System log and see the cipher strength is only 56.
Does anybody have an idea how can I raise the cipher strength?
    Thanks

    Sorry,
It was my fault. I used 56-bit SDK. After upgrade all is perfect.

  • In trying to set up an online account, a diagnostic informed me that I should update my browser to accept 128 bit security encryption. How do I accomplish this? I already have Firefox 4.

I can't understand why my browser would not be compatible with 128 bit security encryption. Have set up several other accts with no issues. What are possible problems related to this non-compatibility?

Firefox 4 supports AES-256 (256 bit) encryption in addition to 128 bit since Firefox 2 in 2002.

  • WLS (40-bit) to WLS (128 bit) installation

Hopefully this will help shed some light on the subject.
    Terry
If you receive the following warning:
<I> <Security> WARNING: Exportable (weak) WebLogic Server build running and
domestic (full) strength SSL license detected. Only exportable strength SSL
    connections will be accepted.
This indicates that you have a full strength certificate but a weak strength
build of the server. For full strength encryption there is a different WLS
build. The generally-available (weak/40-bit) version of WLS 5. 1 supports
512-bit certificates and 40-bit bulk data encryption. The full strength
(128-bit) WLS 5.1 build supports 768-bit and 1024-bit certificates and
128-bit bulk data encryption. Your sales contact can provide the required
forms and a special URL to download the full strength build of WebLogic.
The installation for the 128-bit version is the same as the installation for
the 40-bit version. When converting to the 128-bit version a complete
re-installation is necessary. If you are installing service packs, please
note that although Service Packs 1-5 are the same for both the 40-bit and
128-bit versions, SP6 for the 128-bit version is a controlled release. In
order to obtain SP6 for WLS 5.1 (128-bit), you will need to contact your
sales representative who will be able to provide a URL where it can be
    downloaded.
Some other notes concerning the 128-bit installation. First, ensure that
you are using the permanent license that has been updated with the 128-bit
key. Second, for information on setting up WLS SSL (i.e. installing
1024-bit security certificates), please see the documentation at:
    http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/API_secure.html.
It is my understanding that the difference between the 40-bit and 128-bit
versions of WLS 5.1 is in the encryption/decryption module. Since the
difference is limited to this particular module, transitioning from the
40-bit to the 128-bit version should be transparent as far as WLCS (3.1.1
SP1 & 2.01 SP2) is concerned. This is supported by the fact that there is a
single version of WLCS for both domestic use and export use.
A couple of general notes concerning WLCS 3.1.1/2.0.1 installations running
    on top of WLS 5.1 (40-bit or 128-bit) SP6:
WLCS 3.1.1: To date, support cases have not been received with a WLCS
3.1.1 installation running on top of WLS
5.1 (40-bit/128-bit) SP6 where SP6 has been determined to be the
    problem.
WLCS 2.0.1: With one minor exception (see Solution S-05838 below),
support cases have not been received with a
WLCS 2.0.1 installation running on top of WLS 5.1 (40-bit/128-bit) SP6
where SP6 has been determined to be the
    problem.
A couple of general notes concerning WLCS 2.01 and WLS 5.01 (40- or 128-bit)
    Service Packs 1-6:
    - There have been problems when using SP1, SP2 and SP3 for WLS 5.
    - Therefore, SP4 (minimum) is required.
    - To date, support cases have not been received where SP5 has been
    determined to be a problem.
    - There is one small issue related to SP6 (see Solution S-05838 below).
Otherwise, support cases have not been
received where SP6 has been determined to be a problem.
    - Following the SP6 installation, all the JSPs will need to be
recompiled. Due to the custom tags used in WLCS 2.0.1,
the JSPs cannot be pre-compiled. Therefore, recompiling will occur as
    the pages are accessed.
Please see the release notes that accompany each service pack downloads for
issues that are resolved with each particular
    service pack.
    Solution S-05838
A better solution to the problem: WLCS 2.0.1 only: DataLoader script causes
    ASCClientException with WLS 5.1 SP6
    Old Solution:
Use WLS 5.1 SP5 to run the DataLoader, THEN upgrade to SP6.
    New Solution:
You can run the DataLoader without exceptions for WLCS 2.0.1 SP2 and WLS 5.1
SP6 if you modify the script to use t3 socket connections instead of http.
Open the DataLoader script for editing and change the two appearances of
    "http://" to "t3://".

You need to contact your sales rep and get the domestic strength version of
    WLS.

  • Are 128-bit or higher TLS connections supported?

When using EAP extensions to RADIUS, TLS is expressly required (per RFC). The RFCs refer to an LDAP store as well. I need to know if authenticated queries to a 4.x/5.x directory server over a minimium 128-bit TLS connection.
The config thoughts are to have an XP client authenticating to a RADIUS server using EAP and be authenticed to a Win2K/XP(/possibly Solaris 9) server. The EAP authentication would be to a 4.x/5.x directory server over a required 128-bit TLS connection. Does this sound possible with a Sun Directory Server (iPlanet 4.16 SP1 is currently in use)? Will this be supported in the near future (2 months)? Offline discussions may be warranted to clarify the configuration.....

iDS 5.1 on Solaris (not Windows) supports TLS with 128 bit encryption. However, I don't know if the 128 bit cipher suites show up in the console for SSL/TLS configuration, so you may have to configure it yourself over LDAP. The Admin Guide and the CLI Guide for iDS 5.1 should explain how to do this.

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.
