Just a simple question, before deciding to switch

Uhhh, yeah, I've been considering an Apple for a while, and I've pretty much made up my mind, but I had a simple question. I've been with Windows ever since I began with computers, and as long as I can remember, there's been Paint. Does Mac OS X come with anything like Paint?

Prior to the new release of MacBooks and Intel iMacs, the Mac was accompanied by Appleworks which has a fine paint program among many other productivity suite applications. You would find it very comfortable to use if you were used to the Windows Paint program because they are much alike.
Unfortuantely Apple doesn't include it on the new MacBooks or on the iMacs today but that is not to say you can't get ahold of a copy and install it on your new MacBook. Installing programs on a Mac is *sooooo much easier* to do then on a Windows machine and *sooo much easier* to remove (you just drag them to the trash can).
When you get your new Mac you can buy a copy of Appleworks from Apple ( take a look: http://www.apple.com/appleworks/ ).
Hope this helps!

  • Re: add-ons. Just a simple question I couldn't find an answer to. Is the term "uninstall" equivalent to "remove the software from the computer"?

I downloaded a You Tube downloader, and expected an icon to come up when You Tube was playing, according to a friend's advice.
Since this didn't happen I assumed the download didn't work, or was an old version that doesn't work anymore. I wanted to just get rid of it and try another downloader.
I went to Tools--> Add-ons--> and clicked on the downloaded software and saw the 2 options [Disable] and [Uninstall]. The terminology is unclear, as I've always thought once software resides on your computer you can install it or uninstall it without erasing it from the computer.
A simple question that seems obvious except to someone who wants to be very precise and sure. Basically "does [Uninstall] mean erase from the computer"?
    Thanks

With Firefox extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) you have two possibilities. You can disable an extension if you do not want to use it now, but want to keep it. Or you can uninstall an extension and remove it from the computer. Note that uninstalling an extension still leaves prefs in about:config (prefs.js) and possibly files in the profile folder that will be reused in case you decide to reinstall an extension at a later time.

  • A few simple questions, before I purchase an Ipod

These shouldn't be too hard to answer, considering all the other questions you guys get.
I just need to know a few things before I am willing to purchase a Nano.
    1. Once I download iTunes, can I upload my own Cds? And thus move songs from my Cds to my ipod?
    2. Is it possible delete songs off the ipod, once you have uploaded them?
    3. I have about 300 songs on my current audio player. (Roxio; Audio Central) Will I be able to upload these to my ipod?
I think that's all for now, thanks for all your help.
Windows 2000   I don't yet own an iPod.

Thanks for the reply. I think it will be okay if I can't add those songs, maybe I'll burn the most important ones to a cd, then upload them.
Thanks again for all your help.

  • Just a simple question from a noob

    Hey guys
im just working on my website, im not doing anything complicated just simple stuff.
I just want to add a @facefont and change /edit the rules to just let me change the font. I wish it were as easy as just changing it with the property inspector but ive come to figure out that it doesnt work that way. Every time ive asked this question ive been referred to websites that have a 4 page guide on fonts, but this rarely helps me. im just looking a direct on how to do this. BTW im working with a preloaded template from dreamtemplate so everything is already formatted.
problems: whenever i try to change the font and save it nothing saves but the font size, i want to add @facefont and change the font
    thanks in advanced

Using Custom Web fonts is a bit more complex than you realize.
    http://alt-web.com/Articles/Custom-Web-Fonts.shtml
To make things simple, I recommend using one of the Free Edge Web Fonts.  Simply copy & paste code into the <head> tags of your HTML page.
    EXAMPLE:
    <!--Edge Font-->
    <script src="http://use.edgefonts.net/pt-sans-narrow:n4,n7:all;league-gothic:n4:all.js"></script>
Then define the font in your CSS code:
    h2 {font-family:pt-sans-narrow, "Arial Narrow", sans-serif;}
    h3 {
    font-family: league-gothic, Impact, Haettenschweiler, "Franklin Gothic Bold", "Arial Black", sans-serif;
    HTML code:
    <h2>This is Heading 2 - pt-sans-narrow</h2>
    <h3>This is Heading 3 - league-gothic</h3>

  • Zen touch - just a simple question (two simple ques

    Hi,
I would like to ask whether it is possible to connect the zen touch to any computer without needing to install the software and so to use it as a store device?(ofcourse after upgrade whenavailable)
The zen micro has the possibility to work as a usb device for example.
and the second one: are the headphones of the touch the same as these of the micro. When not, do you find them good? or not so good?
now I have a third question: since when does Creative sell the zen touch?Message Edited by plam_mk on 03-4-2005 :59 AM

plam_mk wrote:thank you. Yes, I think there won't be an update to put the removable disc option. However the zen touch is offered so as it is, with or withous some funktions and one should decide for himslef whether this is good or unsufficient for him. With the MTP firmware, do I need both win xp and wmp0 or Win XP alone would be fine? what is the differnece between MTP firmware which enables a dri'veless support and the USB mass storage?
You would need both WinXP and WMP0 for the MTP support.
And that is the main difference. With USB mass storage, any OS will work (Linux, Mac, etc.) for data at least. Sometimes you still need more software to put music on it, e.g., iPod.

  • Installed a new Sonnet. Just a simple question

NEVER MIND. Posted in the wrong area and not sure how to deleat the post.
I just installed a new Sonnet Encore/MDX G4 Duet card on my G4 dual mirror. Everything seems just great at this early point. But I have a question. How does one know it is all working properly and being recognized by the computer. Is that something I can confirm in "System Profiler"? And if so what should I see listed. Just curious. I just want to "see" all is well. Thanks in advance. Jeff

  • Just a simple question with restoring.

Alright, so I am about to sell my iPod Touch, and I just finished restoring, I didn't set it up at all, so that the customer who purchases it can follow through with the "Hello" screen and set up everything themselves... But since I want to leave it in this state, I can't really figure this out myself without setting it up. So, when the new person goes through the setup screen, it won't somehow keep the old Apple ID or iCloud accounts to select right? Before I restored it, I logged out of my Apple ID and iCloud, turned off iMessage, and FaceTime, just in case. So, I am pretty sure the accounts won't be there, right? I just need some verification although I am pretty much sure it should be 100% clean of my old content.

    Hi
If you have logged out and restored from scratch everything accounts wise should have been wiped along with the rest of the content. I recently sold my iphone 4 and thought the same thing after restoring but the new buyer set it up next to me and i never saw any of my account info come back up!
    Hope this helps

  • Just one simple question

My father is the primary but I am the one trying to pay for the phone for myself. So I was wondering do i go on his account to buy the phone or my own? Im just trying to make sure of this process

Ok thank you. I was trying to figure out because this will be the first time doing this.

  • Its just a simple question!

Following worklist tutorial it says about a wf_client_config.xml file, but dont says where to put and a complete file sample.
Do you guys know where to put it and a simple content?????
Hey larry are you slipping? I think maybe we could study IBM tools, maybe microsoft....

    You're welcome.
Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes, which is selected under the various tabs for the iPod Touch sync preferences and under the various tabs for the iPhone's sync preferences.
You can have the same music, videos, and 3rd party apps on both devices, or different music, videos, and 3rd party apps on both devices. You can have no music on your iPhone if you prefer - not sure why you wouldn't want to have any music on your iPhone, but you can if you prefer installing nothing but 3rd party apps. Nothing would be selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Just a simple question (Why?)

I was just wondering. Oracle uses the table_name.column structure to refer to specific columns in all of its various uses. Why then would SQL*Plus use the table_name(column) structure in defining table level constraints? It makes for confusing syntax.

Because a constraint can be put on multiple columns. The brackets contain all columns separated by a comma, e.g.:
    CREATE TABLE emp (
    id CHAR(18) NOT NULL,
    first_name CHAR(18) NULL,
    last_name CHAR(18) NULL,
    street CHAR(18) NULL
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX XAK1emp ON emp
    first_name ASC,
    last_name ASC
    CREATE INDEX XIE1emp ON emp
    street ASC
    ALTER TABLE emp
    ADD ( PRIMARY KEY (id) ) ;

  • Just one simple question about procedures

I'm trying to speed up my application, and writing procedures for some of the SQL I freqently use. When I write a procedure for a select statement I get an error PLS-00428 - no INTO clause in the select statement. I can do this in other languages - is this not possible in Oracle, or is there some keyword or other that will let a procedure return a result set?

    hi there,
no there is no way by which u can use directly the select statement in procedure, u have to use select statement along with into clause.

  • Just a few questions before buying.

Is there any hint of a successor to the current Macbook Pro in the next 6 months or so?
I also would appreciate your opinions on wether or not to get the glossy display over the regualar display, perhaps some pros and cons would be helpful?
    Thanks guys.
    Peter
    Macbook C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Peter,
I personally would not think about an upgrade to the MBP, if you are ready now, go for it. I got mine in March and I'm VERY happy.
Memory ----- 1GB will be "pleanty" for what you mention you will use it for. I browse the net, use itunes, VPN into my job, use Parallels for online classes I take, download pictures off my digital camera, connect to .mac, use Aperature, and the memory is enough. No I don't have everything mentioned opened at once, but what I need opened at the time, and the response time is great. My 2 cents ----- order with the 1GB for now.
Glossy or Matte screen ---- depending on where you will use it. Outside, in the car, by a lot of light --- get the Matte. I purchased the matte since I work in my car during lunch daily (I take my online classes), and with the glossy - it would be murder to see the screen, the matte is great with any glare/sun on the screen - no reflection. Personally - I'm happy with the matte.
    Good luck,
    Bob

  • Drilldown BW function...Just a simple question

    Hi,
If using structure with selection of accounts and formulas for the row section of the BW definition, can drilldown be used to review the account selections?
    Thanks

I have a structure on the row section of the BW definition. For example,
    Account Excecutive
    ---237169
    ---399347
    ---111839
    Account Admin
    ---480932
    ---346521
    ---392183
    ---098321
    Actual Expense
    ---Account Admin + Account Executive
We would want to drilldown on Account Executive and Account Admin. When the system displays the report, all we can see is the Account Executive and Account Admin and Actual Expene as 3 rows. We would want to display the detail for the Accounts Executive and Account Admin after we run the report.
I tried it but it seemed to have repeated the accountd for others defined account selections. It seems that it is not possible if I use structure in this scenario.
    Thanks

  • Student... Just a simple question.

I have created a jdeveloper project with two froms, one main fram and a dialogue box. In the code for the for a button on the dialogue box I want to reference a jTextField which is located on the main frame. What is the syntax for this? How do i reference it? For example right now I am trying to reference it in the following way
    Frame1.jTextField12.setText("An error occurred");
jTextField12 is the field I'm trying to reference....
I'm getting the following error when i try to compile
Error: (210) cannot make a static reference to non-static variable jTextField12.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Dominic

    Hi Dominic,
You are referencing the text field from a static method,
You can either make the method non-static or make the field static.
    Hope this helps
