Title Basically sums it up.. is there anyway I can get those apps without having to pay for them..?
You and the original owner need to contact Apple Care and have the MBP released from his Apple ID. Then you can use OS X Recovery to erase the MBP, install the original version of the shipping OS X updated to the most recent version available and install new versions of the iLife apps that you can then accept into your Apple ID used with the Mac App Store.

If you mean you are trying to play a file and the QT icon with a quesion mark appears in the display area, then this means the play has reached a programming disjunction and doesn know what to do—i.e., the player recognizes the content but something is preventing proper playback is telling the user it has a question as to how the content is to be played. You should accept the apps within the App Store -> Purchases tab.
Otherwise delete adoption.plist from /Library/Application Support/App Store/ or /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/
Of course it depends on the age of your computer. If it was purchased before OS X Lion was released then you need to reinstall the iLife suite from the original DVD. -
I started using LT 4 and I have a serial number, also upgraded to LT 5 and have a serial number. Now I just bought a new Macbook Pro and installed the LT 5, but it doesn't accept my serial number. Why?
When you installed the Lightroom 5 on your MacBook, did it ask for both serial numbers. Since you purchased Lightroom 5 as an upgrade, you need both the serial number from your original purchase as well as the new serial number for Lightroom 5. If you have both of those numbers and they are still not being accepted then you will have to contact Adobe customer support for a solution.

I just bought a used Macbook Pro. How do I make the changes to make it personal. Example the iTunes comes up as the old user and I have to have his password to make changes on the laptop. Can you make any suggestions?
Also I cant make a right click on the pad. Is that normal?Your first going to have to remove all your personal data off the machine to a external storage drive, do not use TimeMachine when it asks as this will copy the entire drive and is unnecessary at this time (also takes too long).
You need to drag and drop copy your personal data folders (Music, Pictures, Movies etc) to a external storage drive, once done, unmount and disconnect this drive.

Next your going to follow the Zero Erase and install method for your OS X version, either 10.6 or 10.7, here
How to reinstall just OS X or erase/install OS X
10.7 requires your AppleID and password to install, so make sure to have that ready.
Once you reboot your into the real setup of OS X, which will require your name etc, so it's now your machine.
Install your programs, iLife package is only free for the owner of the machine.
If you have the 10.6 machine specific disks, then it's on there.
If your using 10.7, then you'll have to purchase it from the App Store.
Last, return your files from the storage drive, consider setting up a TimeMachine or clone on the external drive. -
I just bought a new macbook pro and my CS6 migrated, but now when I open existing documents, it launches a free trial version. There doesn't appear to be a way to enter my serial number or communicate that I simply have a new computer. HELP! There is no customer support for this. I can't believe what a poor service company Adobe is!!
The problem was that you migrated CS6. Unfortunately, migration doesn't work because it doesn't move all the files.
First, you'll need to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove the components that were installed:

I assume that you don't have the installation discs, so:
1. Reboot
2. Hold command + s key down after you hear the chime.
3. When you get a text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
(Type these commands very carefully)
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
4. You will go through the setup process again, create a new admin account, login to it and then change your existing account password or whatever else you need to do. You can delete the account you made in this process, or not. -
I just bought a Mac Book Pro and the Appstore show one upgrade of iPhoto (9.2.1). I started a section with my Apple ID (the account that I have I use to iTunes) but when I try to update it says that there are upgrades available for other accounts and that I have to upgrade using the account that I used to buy iPhoto. No. Only those Apps that are not installed on the new will migrate over.

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and under current operating system, it list OS X 10.9.1 as my current system and says I can update to Mavericks. Isn't 10.9.1 the newest OS for Mac? This is my first Mac and I'm not sure about the way it lists the OS systems in the "about this computer tab". I tried to update to Mavericks and it will not allow me to update, despite meeting all of the above requirements. Can anyone help me?

Wonder if anyone can help? Have just bought a new Macbook pro and installed FCP7. I thought that I would get quicktime pro as standard but stuck with QTX. Downloaded QT7 but it won't let me install it. Says I can't do install as I already have QTX. Does FCP not come with QTpro or am I jsut being stupid. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. B
