Just downloaded elements 12 online can't use photo editor says I need to download it off cd
how do i get my photo editor to work?
Please share the screenshot of the error and at which point do you see this error?
This is how normal installation happens:
If your machine is a windows machine, you'd have downloaded a .exe (an executable) file and a .7z (an archive) file.
Please run the .exe file which would extract files from the archive. You can then run setup file from the extracted files & install application.
if you're on a mac machine, you'd have downloaded a .dmg file. Double-click .dmg to initiate the setup & click options/buttons on each installer screen as per your requirement.
Please feel free to reply incase the above doesn't resolve your problem.

For the last few days I have not been allowed to watch anything that may have a video. It says I need an update version of Adobe and that I may need to turn off my antivirus. Not sure how to do this.
Download the latest adobe flash player plugin only from the adobe download site. When you install it it installs its plugin and a Flash Player system preference. That Flash Player system preference has an option (Advanced tab) to auto check for updates. If enabled it will put up a dialog telling you a new update is available when adobe relaases it. I never have that enabled so I don't know how the dialog is worded and that it actually says anything about turning off any AV stuff.
Do you even have any AV software running?
You can always just download it again and reinstall to make sure you have the latest version. -

I would like to take excel classes / tutorials (intermediate to advanced) and practice on this computer. Could someone clarify, what software and operating system is needed? Can I just use numbers? Do I need to download Excel for Macs and use Camp Boot?
Numbers is a joke compared to Excel. If I were you I would find a class/tutorial first, find out what they use (and it won't be Numbers) and see if you need the Mac or Windows version of Excel. Note that Excel is not sold as a seperate product from the Microsoft Office suites.

How can I use photos in FCEHD?
How can I use photos in FCEHD? (I'm new to the thing - done just one video project so far).
When I imported photos from Aperture (first into the folder on desktop, and then from desktop to the Browser in FCEHD3.5, the photos have a black bar/a gray space above and below, and they appear too wide a bit on the right side, as if coming out of the Canvas'frame.
Is it a way to fit them into the 4:3 format, so they fit the whole screen (BTW - what view I should have set for Viewer and Canvas? A 100% or "Fit The Screen" view?).
Also: Is there a way to enter the same Transition in between all of my photos in the Timeline? (if so - how?)Re the Canvas window ... before exporting your sequence, rendering, etc it should be set to Fit to Window, this can avoid problems
In FCE you can't set your own default transition. It is always the Cross Dissolve. If that is the one you want to use, when you drop your pics onto the timeline you can drag them over to Overwrite with Transition or hit Shift-F10. If you want to use multiple occurances of another trans, apply it once, double click to put it in the Viewer then just drop that down onto your clips
I haven't used Aperture but I think that how they appear in the timeline depends upon the size they are created in. Search this forum, there is plenty of info about that. Generally Final Cut sizes the pics to fit into your video sequence. Put a pic in the timeline, click it, select Edit>Remove Attributes and from the submenu select Motion, see what happens -
Error message when compiling book "file is corrupt" referring to a photo. Or "cannot find original photo". Can you use photos that have been "edited" out of "Book Mode"?
I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it. I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go. I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it. My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue. It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking. It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above. I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes. It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me. She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.

I can't update my 3gs iPhone through itunes as it says I need to download latest versions which I've done so I'm in a loop. I'm using a Macbook Pro 10.5.8
Ahhh, the mysteries of software updating...glad it is working for you now. Sometimes you just have to be persistent until iTunes figures out you aren't going to go away.
So, are you now updating the iPhone to iOS 5.0.1?
If you already have 5.0 and a wireless connection you don't need to use iTunes to update to 5.0.1...the wireless update only means a file of about 38 MB, while via iTunes it is the entire iOS and about 730 MB...big time difference.

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update. -

Yes. You can install v12 on as many machines as you like, but only two can be activated at any one time. You should not be using them concurrently.
