Just got a new computer and I want to hook up my itouch and treat it just like i did with the last computer, without losing any data. What can I do?
Help me please! I'm a new college student trying to make my new computer just like the family computer, which has all of my itunes, ipod sync "station", and etc.How can I hook up my iTouch to this new computer and treat it the same as i did on the old?
P.S.-and just like everyone else, is there a way to do it without losing all my hard earned data?
Make sure you cpt the iPod backup file from the old compouter to the new one. That file is located here:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
- after you move the other stuff to your new computer, connect the iPod to the new computer and restore the iPod from the backup you just added to the computer and then sync.

Got a new 4S today. It has no sound at all. not a whisper. there is with headphones but none without. its as if the speaker is not working. ive tried everything can think of, reset, fiddle with sound settings etc, checked ive got sound on and volume up. any ideas?
Check the mute switch. It is located just above the volume controls. If it is displaying orange, it is on, flip it in the other direction to turn it off.

Hi.. I want to be able to type quotes on my iPad like I did on my old computer using Microsoft word. What is the best replacement app on the iPad?
Hit the ".?123" button. If the quotes character (over the right end of the space bar) is not to your liking, hold that button and several alternatives show up.

i've backup in itunes with another phone number activation , now i want active with new phone number without losing old backups , what can i do for this problem ??
If I get this right, you've ported your phone number to AT&T with the purchase of the iPhone. That is considered opening your own account under your name. Your brother's account is not ported to AT&T unless you used his SS# instead of yours. Your brother still has his account under Verizon Wireless, all you did was use your cell phone number to when you opened your own AT&T account.
If you don't want to use your Verizon Wireless phone #, my suggestion is to call AT&T customer service and explain that you want a new phone number instead of the ported Verizon number. -
My iPod dispalys this message:
"Connect to a computer. Use iTunes to restore." When I connect to a computer, iTunes doesn't recognise it. The iPod 5th Gen does not work at all. How do I fix my iPod without losing any data?
I have seen the Apple webpage suggesting the "five R's" (including restore). Before doing anything, I want to be sure that restoring or any other action is not going to delete or risk my data.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem, in a way that will not risk my data.
Thanks in advance!Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC? Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

How do I consolidate purchases from two different ids that are on the same bank account, and eliminate the extra id without losing any purchases? I want my music to match on both ipad and computer.
Purchases are forever tied to the AppleID they were bought with. There is currently no way to consolidate AppleIDs. Sorry.

How do I upgrade to snow leopard (from leopard 10.5) and then restore my files from my time machine HDD backup...without losing any data or reinstalling leopard (10.5)?
Hello, it's great you have a backup, but 10.6 should just Install 10.6 system files over the top of 10.5 system files, & leave all your data intact on the drive.

I just got a new iphone and want to transfer my contacts from my old iphone, and photographs. when I sync it has not transfered anything to the new phone. thanks.
In iTunes, did you click your iPhone under "devices" then go through the tabs to set things up? There's one setting that you need to check to sync contacts.

As I say I just got my new ipad and I want to sync my calendar and mail from my old mac (10.5.8). I am told that I can't use icloud with my old mac. I only really want to sync my mail and calendar can I do that directly some how?
RosegateYes, if you don't use iCloud, you can sync your data through iTunes. Connect the device, select it from the device list, navigate to the info window and choose your sync settings there.

Help!
My ipad touch wont play music, an arrow flashes by the battery icon, which is charged and it just reverts back to the selected song in a second without playing...what can i do to fix this? thanks, joeFirst, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes." -
Everytime I hook my Iphone 5 to itunes it wants me to restore the phone. I got a new phone two days ago because of this and other issues came home and went to put my music on it and it wanted me to restore which it resulted in a frozen screen with the picture of needing to connect the cable(it was a brand new phone). So I went back to Apple and they restore it there then came home again and the same thing happened although I have not restored it this time casue I dont have time to go back to Apple again. What am I doing wrong? This is happening to my husbands phone as well.

How can I back up my iPhone and iPod to a new iCloud account without losing any data?
Hello
Before Mountain Lion comes out I want to create a new iCloud account because I don't want to use the @me.com email that I created with my current iCloud account. I want to create an entirely new account with a new @me.com email address. I use iCloud to back up my iPhone, iPod and am signed into it on my mac. Basically I want to back up my iPhone and iPod to a new iCloud account and not lose any data. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks so much for any help. Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise your phone will be wiped during the following sync.
Then back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to the new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer the purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

How do you unsync your iphone, without loosing any of the music etc? As I have a new laptop and my old laptop is not working.
You need to transfer the data from your old computer to your new computer. Surely you have a backup of your old laptop. Use this and move your data to your new laptop.
