If you are the USA and using the latest iTunes you can redownload most iTunes purchased via the iCloud beta:

I would have no problem contacting the person I bought it off of but I no longer have their information since when it worked I deleted the emails!

I would even take it to Apple if they could fix it, would they? and what might that cost me?

Assume you were in itunes? Also assuming windows? Two paths I can think of.....
1) Normally anything deleted from itunes goes to recycle bin. If you did not pick remove from computer probably still in itunes music directory. Just add back. Note to speed things up you can use add directory.
2) Use restore previous version of music directory. To be safe I'd back up current directory, do a restore, then swap back original directory and use restored directory off line.
I do not know of nice solution, I like to hack my way through.

Sure, as soon as you open iTunes with the new iPod connected, it will have a "Welcome to your New iPod" screen. Just choose Restore from backup.

I have Windows XP and can't sync my Ipod Touch with itunes. Gives error 13019. I did all the recommendations recommended, including unchecking the sync and resyncing all the music, but it came up again. No voice memos or videos checked. Help! Please!

Thank you, but I did that. I de-selected and then re-selected but because the 13019 still won't allow the sync, all it did was completely delete everything on my Ipod! I now have no songs on my Ipod when at least before, I had all my songs but the new 12 songs! I'm freaking!

The computer has to be authorized for the account that purcchased the media.
What error message are you getting when you try to lauthorize the computer for that account?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The mails showing take account online are unchanged, but all subsequent incoming email seems ok, but both my drafts folder AND my sent folder have had their contents deleted. In particular, how do I get my sent emails back?

This is what it says under "iTunes will back up the following information":
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
* Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.
Sounds like you may have experienced some of the "contact data loss". I suggest using iCloud in the future.
