Check out the articles below to get your iPhone to show up in iTunes so it can be restored. Start with the first one to see if you can make any change to show up in iTunes and if it does not, then pick either the second or third article for the type of computer that you have.

Can you share any information regarding what you have tried? To create a new document select the menu item "File > New..."
What documents have you tried to open and what happened when you tried?

I installed the latest update to my phone. Half way through it asked to connect to itunes. After updateing it had some type of error and wanted me to restore the phone. After restoring, another error box popped up and said that it could not be restored. Now it won't connect to itunes or my computer at all and is nothing but the black start up screen with the apple logo, or it's just a white screen. What happened?

Installed the latest update and now Finder refuses to start/crashes

I just installed the latest 10.4.11 update or whatever, along with Quicktime, iTunes, etc., and now when I log in to any account, Finder refuses to start. If it does start, it crashes.
I've googled around and all I could find was that I should switch from one Admin account to another to stop it, but that looked outdated and didn't work anyway.
I'm on a PowerBook G4, 10.4.11. Hopefully someone can tell me how to fix this soon.

Actually, I take double posting to mean you started the same Topic in two different placesat once!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc...

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

iTunes was running perfectly fine, but wouldn't let me access the iTunes store until I installed the latest software update (9.0.2 or something like that). The software installed successfully, but now iTunes won't open. When I click on the icon in the dock, it bounces once, then nothing happens. I also tried opening iTunes through the Applications folder, and still nothing happens. I've also tried ctrl-clicking on music files and choosing "open with iTunes" and still nothing. It doesn't give me an error message or anything, it simply doesn't do anything. I just want to listen to my music! Does anyone have any advice?

Of course, immediately after posting this, I looked through the board again and discovered another topic on the exact same question. The answer was that I needed to update my software to version 10.4.11. I did that, and iTunes opened just fine.

The latest update was the source of the problem. I was replying to emails, and the update popped up. I updated. I continued to reply to emails, and the whole page had arrows, symbols, brackets, font names, red correction lines, etc.

I look at it like this, it was a solution to my problem. There is obviously something wrong with the new version. When everyone starts complaining, and some genius figures out the fix, then I will worry about the upgrade. Until then, I am fine with running 4.0. I have to disagree with you though. 6.0 is a downgrade for sure. There is a lot to be desired compared to this version. Who wants price gong, and screwed up emails. Not me. The problem is out there, and now someone needs to work on the bug fixes on this BETA version.

So I just tried installing the newest update for leopard onto my desktop (G5 Dual 2.5ghz) and everything looked ok 3/4 through the install but when I checked back to the computer the screens (dual 23" Apple Displays) where black. OH boy...
I tried restarting the machine which gives the normal start-up chime and the first thing that was odd was that only one (the primary) monitor power LED was lighting up. Not good. Still nothing from either screen. So then I flipped the door down and plopped in my leopard cd and tried to boot from the CD and still nothing. Any ideas?

Long shot, but Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

TS5376 iTunes once again won't close. Past versions of iTunes had the most annoying behavior that when ever closed it would immediately reopen. Apple update just installed the latest version and the problem is back. Help.

Past versions of iTunes for Windows had the annoying behavior that it couldn't be closed. If I tried to exit or close the window iTunes would just open back up again. It had gone away, but apple just installed version 11.1.5.5 and it's back! The only way to exit is to open task manager and kill the process. Nothing else seems to work. Guess what Apple, I really don't want to have iTunes open all the time. I think the only answer is to stop using iTunes, since I don't have any Apple devices anyway, and go with a different music player on my PC.

Just in case, we'd better check on another old potential culprit (don't see it reported much lately, though) ... do you have any Logitech gaming software installed on the PC?
