Just lost 50+ vacation photos
This is just UNACCEPTABLE
I've been on a weeks vacation with my family and have taken 50+ photos with my new iPhone 3G.
Just before the vacation the phone crashed during an app-update so I did a complete clean install of the latest firmware 2.0.2 the day before we left, and only installed the games and other apps I needed.
During the vacation i purchased and downloaded 2 apps and tried to update one that wouldn't download so I deleted it from the phone.
The phone worked fine, but last night i noticed that the interface sounds where not working so I decided to restart the phone (which i had done during the week also after some of the installs).
After shutting down the phone normally, upon restarting it, it didn't move past the white Apple logo, so I pressed HOME + POWER to restart and the phone went to show the "connect to itunes screen".
I was left without a working phone, and now that I'm home iTunes will only let me do a restore, and iPhoto won't even see the phone.
THIS MEANS I HAVE LOST ALL MY VACATION PHOTOS
Can anyone help...??

I have all my digital photos in 3 places:
In iPhoto, on my BackupHD and online on Flickr - so I do take good care of them.
Problem is I never got a chance to get them off the phone
I have now restored to 2.0.2 - photos gone forever
Even though I have spend more than $150 on Apps already I will only be installing 2 or 3 essential ones until Apple releases a more stable firmware - hopefully it will keep my phone from crashing by itself.
If it does crash again for no apparent reason, I'll take it in to service.

Perhaps you have more than one iPhoto Library?
What happens if you hold down the option key while lauching iPhoto?
Are you presented with more than one Library to choose from?

I just "successfully imported" over 300 vacation photos. It asked me if I wanted to delete them from my camera and I said yes. I've done this hundreds of times over the past several years. Afterwards, I got sidetracked looking in another photo event and then did something on my phone (unrelated) when I noticed my screen went black. I figured I needed to charge my laptop, so I got the cord and plugged it in. After restarting, I went back into iPhoto and under my events there is a thumbnail for each day from vacation, but a generic black and white picture of a palm tree and no pictures in any of the events. My last import is of the pictures I loaded before this batch. I've looked everywhere and can't find them! This has never happened before! Is there any way to find the photos and restore them to iPhoto?
Thank you so much if you can help!!!a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
You Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

i just came back from a family vacation and tried to sync my phone to my laptop. It didnt recognize my phone, and did i want to add device or restore to old device. i chose to restore and in doing so, i lost all the photos taken on our vacation. is there a way to retrieve photos? the completely disappeared from my iphone altogether. I am using iphone 5. I did not have any backup since I was about to download the photo. Please help me. Thank you

i save my photos to camera roll. then back up but can't see it on icloud. why? we just lost 300 photos on my other iphone because we do not get proper help. that's why i need to learn now.
You can't view your back up files at icloud.com.
You can't view your camera roll and you can't view your Photo Stream files at icloud.com.
The icloud back up plan allows you to "restore" your iOS device from the files you backed up at icloud.com. -

You cannot use it. You would have had to set it up on your ipod itself before you lost it. Since you did not "turn on the icloud", then you have not set up find my ipod.

My wife just got a new iPhone 6 and took some great photos then I connected it to her computer and restored it to her iPhone 4 settings and lost her new photos. Is there a way to recover them?
Sorry, unless she backup up the new phone before or is using iCloud to save the photos, the photos are gone.

You restored your iPhone with iTunes from the backup for your iPod Touch?
If so, photos/videos that were in your iPhone's Camera Roll should have been imported by your computer before doing this. You could then transfer these photos/videos back to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. -
I just lost a lot of photos. Very Angry!
Well I just used Sony Bridge for Mac to export photos from my Z2 to iPhoto, then deleted them off my phone. Well guess what?? For 90% of the photos it exported THUMBNAILS?!?!?!?!?!? Yeah I admit I could have been more careful but I guess I'm just used to these things working... I saw the export complete and saw the photos in iPhoto so I assumed that was enough. I've never seen photo export from a camera, phone or SD card as thumbnails... it either exports or it doesn't! grrrr..
They were on internal memory because i copied them over from my Sony RX100 digicam. They copied by default to internal memory? Oh well... thanks for the replies. Very disappointed -

The Lion upgrade does not touch iPhoto. However, you may need to purchase an iPhoto upgrade.
Look in your /Home/Pictures/ folder for the iPhoto Library file. -
I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos???
When photos are added to the photo stream album on a device (either due to a new photo having been taken or having been synced from another device using the stream) they remain in the album. However, the syncing process involves copying the photos to the photo stream server where they are kept for a maximum of 30 days, up to 1000 photos. If a device is reset or the stream is turned off or turned back on again (or in your case, the device was repaired), the photos that were on the device's photo stream album are gone and the only ones to appear are those that are currently on the servers (recall the 30 day limit).
If some of your photos are older than 30 days, then they are no longer stored on the cloud and hence are not synced down to the iphone.
Recall, photo stream is just a syncing service, it is not designed as a storage service for photos. Always sync photos to a computer for archiving. -

If you did not backup your iPad, your photos are gone forever.
