Just starting to use InDesign CS2 and can't pull up my previous Pagemaker files; says "damaged and cannot be recovered"
How can I retrieve those?
I have no idea what "diagnostic recompose" is...
Step 3 in this linked technote will show you how to do a diagnostic recompose - on a Mac. Instructions for doing it on Windows are out there somewhere, I'll try to find 'em if you can't. The technote tells you to remove graphics from master pages; I'd also unembed graphics (make sure all graphics are linked, not stored in the PageMaker doc) in order to try to get it to open up in ID.
I'm sure there are more things you can try, if that doesn't work, but my broken-PageMaker-doc skills are pretty rusty.
Also, you may want to edit your response on the forums webpage, and delete it from your future email-replies, so your email address and phone number aren't preserved for all to see on the forums, forever.

I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?
The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

I am trying to copy photos from an iPad to a Mac Air, but iPhoto does not recognize them. Please forgive the ignorance, but we have just started moving to apple products and I know nothing about them. Do you have to use PhotoStream to do this?
How did the photos that you want to copy off get on the iPad ? To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you should be able to use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer. -
just started a new apple tv and also started using an iMac . I have itunes on the iMac but i cant get the apple tv to sync or find any settings to do so ! How can I get the iMac and apple tv to sync the itunes ? i have a internet connection between them , I have signed in to the itunes store on the apple tv and it shows that the apple tv is sharing my library from the IMac , but it wont sync and the apple tv has no content !

The Apple TV (with the exception of the Apple TV 1) does not sync, it streams everything from your library on your computer or from the internet. -
Can I export solid objects into Illustrator / InDesign CS2 and maintain vector format
Can Adobe 3D export solid objects in vector format into Illustrator or InDesign CS2 suite?
I'm interested in taking solid 3D objects developed in Pro/E 2.0 and import from Adobe 3D into Adobe Illustrator & InDesign in vector format for page layout. I want to import solid objects in vector format and maintain color scheme and surface textures.
I'm running 3D trial version and can successfully import 3D objects (asm & prt files) solid views from Pro/E but can only export wireframe views from Adobe 3D Toolkit into Illustrator or InDesign (CS2). Solid objects first have to get rendered in a raster format before importing into Illustrator.
If this function is not supported does anyone have experience doing this using Quadraspace or Right Hemisphere 3D software?Any help???? After 2 weeks I still can't learn from Adobe or Right Hemisphere people how to import solid objects in vector format into Illustrator with color and surface textures in place. All imported objects in vector format are converted to a wireframe or line format unless they are first rasterized.

I am using a Dell and can't import the CD I need because the window doesn't automatically pop up. How do I fix this? Any thoughts?You could try my script ConvertFormat and see if you like the results. Would be easier than inserting the CDs and correcting the tag info again. Just be aware this is a one-way trip. Once you've thrown away some quality to shrink the files you can't get it back without going back to the source. You may better off investing in a bigger drive.
If you just want to squeeze more on the iPod you can use the built-in iTunes option to convert files to a lower bitrate as they are added to the device.

When I send my imessage sometimes it tells me that my message is sent as a text message as oppsed to an imessage and then doesnt tell me if its delievered. It just started doing this last night.How can I fix this?
This feature only works with people who have iMessage on their iPhone. If you are sending a text to someone with a blackberry etc, you will not get the delivery messages.

I am using InDesign CC and added Garamond premier pro font. This has worked for months, now suddenly my entire book is highlighted in pink and my font is missing! I get the message that the font is currently unavailable on my computer, how can i get it back?

Here's a positive thing: Windows viruses can't run on OS X, but they can be transferred from OS X to other PCs (only if you have them on the OS X volume).

You could get a virus from a different source that infected Steam and Chrome without any problem. Viruses normally try to infect as many files and programmes as possible.

iPhones, iPads and iPods touch can't get viruses but they can transfer them to other PCs. For Windows, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials -

Have just inherited a used IPAD 2 and work on PC windows 7 Home premium.
Would like capability of using IPAD as a "dumb terminal" occasionally to connect to PC to do scut work while otherwise engaged. Possible? Not interested in films and music so much as being able to enter home booking system etc.
If Yes, what do I need to make it so?iOS has no file system directly accessible to users and cannot really be used as a 'bridge' to control or operate your machine's operating system (whether OSX or Windows).
When you say, "enter home booking system," there are plenty of iOS applications which would be suitable for creating home inventory system and spreadsheets. Applications such as dropbox can be used to transfer files between the device and your machine.
Additionally, barcode scanning apps exist where you can, for example, bulk scan ISBN's, transfer the csv file, and subsequently input them into a spreadsheet on your machine. -

Seems your story has changed... not seeing is not the same as not supported.
If the phone is carrier locked, you need a SIM from the carrier it's locked to to activate it. The sim does not have to be active, it just has to be one from that carrier. -
I have just went to use my airplay and my airplay is asking for an apple passcode which I didn't set any suggestions
In the Airplay settings section on AppleTV there should be an option to enable/disable Airplay a password - basically used to stop someone hijacking someone else's AppleTV display unless they know the code.

It shouldn't need formatting. That should have been done to make the RAID. If you need to erase the RAID:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select the RAID volume you wish to format from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
