Just updated to the latest version of iTunes. Now my CD drive is can't read CDs.
Just updated to the most recent version of iTunes. Now my CD reader won't recognize any CDs or games I put in.
There is no error message, I hear the reader booting up but I get no box asking my to import files,play ect.
CDs don't appear on the drive in 'My Computer'
Tested the same CDs on another computer and they were recognized
CDs are commercial and from the library

The Apple Mobile Device Service is a part of sever programs that "help" iTunes on Windows. It may have been disabled in the Microsoft program, msconfig, or using a third party utility, such as CCleaner.
I would suggest trying to find and enable the service. To do so, click on the start button, click "run", and then type "msconfig" look for the iTunes Helper entry and make sure that it's enabled.
Additionally, there may be another service which you will have to enable. You can type something like "service.msc", (I'm not sure exactly) to see the "Services" control panel and look for it there.
If you can't find either, feel free to post here again.

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

Hi there. I recently updated to the latest version of itunes, and am unable to get newly-purchased ibooks onto my ipod - I don't see any way to click and drag the ibook. Am I missing something?

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content is not allowed?.
The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

Library Duplicated
I just updated to the latest version of iTunes and it duplicated virtually every track in my library. I need a quick way to delete the duplicates. Sorting by "Date Added" will not work, because every track is listed as added on 12/12/2011 even though this happened today 12/19/2011.I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. Surely iTunes should be upgraded automatically? It always has in the past.
Typically a computer does not automatically update itself. This would be highly undesirable in my opinion. What if it was it started doing it just as you were going to do a presentation? I have never heard of iTunes automatically updating itself.
Why do I have to download it again?
You can let Software Update do this if you wish.
And why from the Apple website and not the itunes website?

No, you shouldn't but once a month somebody complains here than an update wiped their iTunes collection. Not sure I believe them since i don't see how it could do it, but you should always back up first.

Correct. An iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7
When I try to upgrade via iTunes, it tells me that I have the latest version.
Maybe it is the latest version your computer can run with the operrating system version you are using.

My Iphone 4 crahsed a few months ago when I tried to update and i have used Itunes already and it updated to the latest version of itunes but it says there is an erro and cannot be restored, I'm not sure why it is saying that, can I get some help?

Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I wasted about 1.5 hours with Apple on this issue. It all started happening after I updated to the latest version of iTunes. I haven't been able to sync my iPhone 4 in 1 month and am freaking out about possibly losing my pictures, video, text messages and music.
Windows XP user.

When I plug in my iPhone it doesn't even recognize that it is plugged into the computer (although the cord works and the USB port is good).
When I plug in my iPod (on the same cord) an error message pops up in iTunes and immediately kicks/ejects. "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly..."

Just updated to the newest version of iTunes, when connecting it prompts me to update my iPhone to the newest version of IOS; however, when I hit download it says I have purchases that need to sync but where and how do I do this on the newest version? It isn't doing it automatically and I am unable to find the sync button that was available on previous versions of iTunes.
