JW Player or Vimeo

I'm sorry if this question is misplaced, but I'm not sure where else to ask.
I'm looking for advice from people that have embedded video with JW Player and with Vimeo (separately, not Vimeo within JW Player).  I currently have h.264/mp4 videos hosted on my server, embedded on my site using the JW Player.  I originally encoded them at 5 Mb/s, but some of the people i asked to test the download could not download smoothly.  I then tried 2.5 Mb/s and the "testers" on a wireless b/g connection couldn't keep up.  Of course I want the best possbile quality that each person's connection can handle.  So I'm wondering if would be best to either:
A. Upload lower bitrate versions and install the JW Player "bitrate switching" code to adjust to their connections.
B. Get a Vimeo Plus account and embed links from Vimeo.
(YouTube is not an option because I want the videos to be viewable only in the password-protected area of my site.  And I personally have more technical trouble watching YouTube videos than Vimeo videos).
For some reason I kinda don't trust the JW Player to handle more complicated coding (adding the bitrate switching parameters).  But that's mostly because I'm not a programmer by trade and may have trouble fixing any problems that pop up.  But if it worked, I could at least encode and upload any bitrates that I wanted.  I trust the Vimeo embedding to go more smoothly, but from what I can tell, Vimeo will only server the video at two rates--"HD" and "SD".  I can't find exactly what bitrates Vimeo is serving for each setting, but their "SD" quality seems like a big drop from their "HD" quality.
Any insight can help.  Thanks.

  • Audio out-of-sync in Vimeo Flash player in Firefox

I sometimes get reports that videos in Vimeo's Flash player play slightly out of sync in Firefox, but not in other browsers (even with the same version of Flash installed). I've contacted Adobe about this issue as well, but wanted to check if there were any known interactions between Firefox / Adobe Flash that could cause out-of-sync video?

You can advice them to check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Vimeo audio stutters in Safari 7 (Mavericks), Flash Player up to date, plug-ins are switched ON, extensions switched OFF.

Noticing this problem recently, guessing it has been occurring since the update to Mavericks.
Video from Vimeo is streaming fine but the audio stutters from the beginning and never improves.
As the title suggests, I have ensured that my Flash Player is up to date, I have switched off the new Safari feature which will turn off plug-ins to save power (so the plug-ins are allowed to run immediately on my system) and I have switched off all Safari extensions.
I have found a number of threads in the communities but no solutions so far.
    No problems with YouTube audio.
And no problems with Firefox or Chrome - audio is flawless. It is a Safari-issue.
    Anybody got any ideas?

  • Cannot stream youtube/vimeo videos using QuickTime Player

I have a youtube video I would like to stream in QuickTime Player, I go to File/Open Location and paste the URL and click open I get this message: "The operation could not be completed". Can anyone help? I have tried this with vimeo as well.

I had a similar problem once, but it was duplicated audio, not video.
I fixed it by uninstalling Quicktime, rebooting, then reinstalling Quicktime.

  • After installing Firefox 6 Vimeo does not seem to properly recognise the browser and the Adobe Flash Player.

I automatically upgraded to Firefox 6. Whenever I try to view a video on Vimeo I either am told that:
'The video cannot be played with my current setup' and to switch to a browser with native H.246 support or to install the Adobe Flash Player.
    or
That no mobile version of the video exists.
I have the Flash player installed and have reinstalled it. I have also reinstalled Firefox 6.

From what I can tell, the problem is not Silverlight, it is the flash plugin (10.3). I uninstalled and went back to FLASH 10.1 and Netflix, flash videos, flash based applications, etc all worked again on my brand new computer. Very unfortunate and frustrating.

  • PC Freeze Using New Flash Player and Youtube/Vimeo

I just recently upgraded my flash player to the newest version.  No problems with Youtube before, but now there is a major conflict.   Whenever I try to load a youtube video, my computer freezes.  I have about 10 seconds or so where I can move the mouse/cursor, but no input is available.  And then my montior goes into sleep mode because it thinks my PC is in sleep mode.  The PC fans are still running but no input is accepted.  The only fix is to reboot, and then then next time it happens again.
The problem is not Youtube because I have the same problem on Vimeo.  And it's not firefox, I have the same problem on IE.  And Firefox is fully updated.
I've tried the usual uninstall and reinstall of flash and it didn't help.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the info, but now that you've reverted back to FP vs 9, there is no way to have you check files/settings etc.
I would only be guessing and that wouldn't be helpful.
Flash Player updated yesterday and you can see the versions at this site. Note that the version for Windows that use the IE browsers is different than Windows that uses the plugin browsers. Of course the Installer links will Install the appropriate version.

  • Dream Weaver CS 5.5 not showing Flash/Vimeo/JW player and other Flash content local

    Hi,
I have just installed WebPremium CS 5.5 and when I look locally through XAMPP at a web site in any browser, no Vimeo/JW players or Flash content
are showed. Flash is installed!!! The rest of the site is visible.
Only in "Live View" I can see everything as normal in dream weaver CS 5.5, but not in any browser.
When I look at the same site local  in DW CS4 all looks fine.
Have no clue how this is possible. All suggestions are much very appreciated!!

  • Programs like VIMEO say that adobe flash player isn't installed but it is isntalled

several videos try to play but say you have to install adobe flash player but I Have it installed in firefox. I look at the apps and its there and not disabled.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.

  • Flash Player and Youtube not Working but Vimeo does?

    Hi guys,
We are currently deploying Windows 7 out to all Staff and Student PCs, we've had it on our IT Department's PCs for the past year and have had no issues with Flash Player and Youtube.
However, a Tutor reported that when they go to YouTube and select a video it buffers, plays a second or so and then goes to 'An Error Occurred, Please Try Again Later'.
If we disable Shockwave Flash Object it redirects to the HTML5 website and that works fine.
    Software:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 32bit
CPU: Various (Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel i5, Intel Xeon E5
    RAM: 2-4GB DDR2, 4GB DDR3,
    Browser: IE10, Mozilla Firefox v19 and v24
    Adobe Flash Player ActiveX: v11.8.800.175
    Adobe Flash Player Plug-in: v11.8.800.168
    Diagnostics:
Tried completely uninstalling Adobe Flash Player, restarting PC, installing Adobe Flash Player
    Tried Adobe Flash Player Beta
    Tried disabling Hardware Acceleration
Uninstalled IE10, Tried on IE8, Same Issue
Tried removing all Computer and User Policies
Checked if it was a VLAN issue but is happening on both 10.32.x.x (student) and 10.64.x.x (staff)
    Tried on IE9 same issue
Scrolling along the seek bar at the bottom shows all of the stills fine.
Enable ActiveX Filtering resolves the issue but that's just because it goes to HTML5 too.
    Any help is appreciated
    Andy

I am also facing similar issue. I tried literally all solutions and then finally gave up and reinstalled windows 7 after clean format,
Immediately after fresh OS installation,Youtube just worked once with flash player for hardly 3 to 5 seconds and then crashed with error "an error occured please try again later- Learn More"
Tried reloading that same youtube video which initially worked for 5 seconds, but on second try it won't load at all.Tried all the other videos as well and same result, they won't play even for one second and same error "an error occured.."
Scrolling along the seek bar of stuck youtube video shows vid's still images just fine but video won't play at all.
Tried it with firefox,IE,Chrome and same result.
Youtube works fine with Html5 player.
Until 5 days back everything was working just fine, maybe either flashplayer got updated or Youtube changed anything which is causing this problem.
I even did a clean windows 8 install on another pc and that pc is also showing same symptoms.

  • Vimeo? flash player?

Is there an app or a way of being able to view videos on sites such as vimeo etc?

You need to use automatic trnscoding services like vTap. It's working just great with the iPhone and is able to search and transcode videos for a great number of Flash-based video sites.
Just navigate to vtap.com from Safari, search for your videos, let vTap transcode them (it takes 1-2 minutes) and, then, play them back.
Note that the interface is entirely Web-based and, therefore, a bit more awkward than that of a native iPhone app. Nevertheless, it's perfectly usable.
Let me know if you have problems with using vtap.com.
(Disclaimer: I don't receive any compensation from vtap.com. I recommend them here as I consider them the best solution for the problem - as was also the case a year ago when I published my Youtube Playback bible.)

  • Vimeo Player Loading Error AS3

    var vimeo_player = new VimeoPlayer("Where my video string id is going",44471378,620,480, '10', 2);

Is the code I am using to get a vimeo video to display on a frame of my website.
I am currently updating my website. I have recently added a new section. With this new edition of the section I am now getting the ERROR:

I haven't changed anything with this area of the code. I am now getting this error out of nowhere. I have an old save that plays the video just fine.
You can see at www.palmei.com in the REEL section the video comes. Now after adding code to other parts of the site I get the VimeoPlayer Error.
Im just wondering what am I doing that is triggering this error? Why would adding code to other parts of the site trigger this to happen when before no errors.

I have a movieclip on stage called Instance of: VimeoPlayer with Instance: cont

    Thanks for help!
I made the site in CS4 and am now using CS5.5...I can transfer all work from the site that gets the error to an older save. It works for a bit than the error comes up. First publish will get me a working html and fla file.

  • Closed captioning embed does not show up in QT player

My sequence is all set up for CC, it works fine within PP2014, I can see it on the program monitor.
    All is good.  Right?
I export a Quicktime file so I can embed the CC.  When I play it in QT player, the CC doesn't show up.  The CC option in the player is automatically activated, so it knows that something is there, but nothing is showing up.
    Any ideas?
Also, when I load the .scc sidecar file to Vimeo, nothing happens.  Not a PP issue, but anyone who has dealt with that, please chime in.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
What are the closed captioning settings?
Is it on CEA 608 or CEA 708?
CEA 608.  That's the setting I'm using with PPro.

  • Media Encoder Vimeo Preset Bug

Hi, all! I've found a strange bug.
I've created 1920*1080 video in AE CC, and decided to publish on my vimeo channel (I have vimeo plus account). So I've rendered it in Encoder and I've decided to use  it's Vimeo HD 1080p 25 render preset. The video rendered fine and played smothely in Media Player Classic (Windows). But I couldn't upload it to my channel! I had an error from Vimeo each time I've tried. So I've rerendered video to avi (h.264), as I usually do, an it uploaded sucsessfully. The question is why video rendered specially for Vimeo, can't be uploaded to Vimeo?
    Thanks!

I push the h.264 files to Vimeo all the time using the preset and it works fine for me. Never had a problem at all. Give us some specifics.
