K7N2-L can output AC-3...

I asked this question before Christmas, but no-one could answer conclusively.
Anyway, I got myself an S-bracket and hooked it up to my decoder with an optical (TOSlink) cable.
Tried two Dolby Digital trailers in VOB format, and an AC3 test AVI file; the audio set to SPDIF output.
No problems at all, the Dolby Digital indicator lit up on my decoder and I could hear the files in their full 5.1 glory.
I'm happy now!

Richard, I think you may be confusing "encoding" with "decoding"? I am talking about playback of Dolby Digital in movies only.
Install S-bracket to the mobo header as shown in the manual.
I installed the Realtek audio drivers from here.
The amp that drives my speakers contains a Dolby Digital decoder, and has two digital inputs - coaxial and optical. (Creative® Inspire™ 5.1 Digital 5700). The coaxial input was already connected to my DVD player, so I used the optical connection from the S-bracket with a TOS link optical lead.
The AC3 test AVI file I used is from here, and the Dolby Digital trailers are here. All these files contain a 5.1 AC3-encoded audio track.
The AVI file plays in Windows Media Player when AC3Filter is installed; the output is set to S/P DIF passthrough as shown:
The VOB files were played in VLC media player, but I imagine they would work in PowerDVD or WinDVD, etc. Again, the audio is set to S/P DIF output:

Looking for a simple app that can output 8 channels simultaneously.

Hello esteemed audio community.
I have to create a little effect for an upcoming party. For this I have created the following audio tracks in Garage Band:
- 4 separate audio channels (stereo front and stereo rear)
- one mono combination of these four tracks (to drive a Light organ gizmo - makes the light flicker with the audio)
- and finally two separate tracks with simple 1Khz pulses to trigger relays for a fog machine.
I now need to be able to play these 7 tracks simultaneously and send them to different amplifiers and relays. So I need two things: 1) a software that can play them and 2) a hardware interface that can take these 7 channels out of the computer and convert them to line levels analog signals.
I thought this would be pretty straight forward but it turns out that it is not, unless you want to throw $$$ at it which I really can't afford.
Software wise, unfortunately, GB can only output 2 audio channel at one time. So I need to find a little app that can offers multitrack output. Ideally it would some shareware thing that would allow me to load in up to 8 tracks saved from GB, adjust their individual levels and then output them.
Second issue is hardware. Here I have found the M-Audio 410 firewire. This box will take up to 10 audio "returns" and output them to analog. They can be found used for about $150. So I think this might work.
Budget for this setup is very limited, hopefully no more than $150. Quality does not have to be very high although a good bass response will be important for the effect. I don't need any recording. Only playback.
Would any one have any suggestion on how to best accomplish this? If this software does not exist, how complicated would it be to write it? Would Applescript be useful for this? All it needs to do is read 8 audio files (2 minutes max), allow me to adjust their level and output all 8 at the same time.

Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.

Can Output Designer be used without installing Output server?

Is it possible to use Output Designer independently of Output Server? I cannot find any detailed documentation on the Adobe site and it is not possible to download a trial version.
I want to create a form that we ensure users entered mandatory fields and that has dynamic sub forms. I do not need to do any further electronic processing of the data in the form once it has been filled in.

Yes you can use the output designer without the output server.
We are using the Jfmerge to merge the text file( a temp file to manupulate the data) and .DAT files.the output will be a PCL file. This PCL file you cn send to printer or you can convert it to any other format.We are converting it to PDF file using PCL2PDF file.

Can Output Designer 5.6 compiled templates run on Jetform Server 5.4.1?

Has anyone tried to run templates compiled in Output Designer 5.6, on Jetform Server 5.4.1 (i.e. Central Pro Server)?

Best try it, to be honest. Whether the class files are compatible is only part of the equation. Other things can go wrong, too. For example, we had a similar situation a few years back, where the vendor had a bunch of packages with 'enum' in the name. Bang. Falls over on anything 1.5 or later, when enum became a keyword. There are quite a few open-source libs with the same problem, various Apache Commons libs leap to mind. If your vendor's used any of them, you'll hit the same problem. There's no way you can really just expect it to work, you need to either persuade them to build it on 1.6, or run some exhaustive testing on it yourself, which of course would be a good idea regardless....

Can output type for purchase order be distuinguished based on plant.

I have created an output type and acess sequence with Plant as one entity as i want the output to be determined in PO for one plant only.I maintained condition record for the same . But when i create PO, i am getting that output type for all plants for that particular purchasing organisation . Is the output type determination in PO based on header data only or it can be maintained based on item data also (as plant comes at item level in PO).

If PO has each line item has different plants ,your access sequence output type/plant wont work.
If PO has same same plant for every line item then only this work.
For restict plant wise you need to chage access sequence add some criteria like PO document type & vendor.

If FCPX can output (render) in H.264, then why use Compressor-4?

When I "share" (output) to-compressor and C4 was launched, I noticed (for blu-ray H.264) that I can ADJUST the bitrate slider up to 30 Mbps. Now this would be a good reason to use C4 if FCPX has no bitrate adjustment for output.
I'm creating a 20 min blu-ray and would like to maximize the bit rate.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If FCP X does all that you need then use it.
Compressor will usually give you more options.

FCP Crash on Long Render/Can't Output to Tape

My project file size is about 350MB and is layered heavily with Sapphire effects (primarily lighting effects). If I attempt to render the entire 30 minute sequence, FCP crashes about 1.5 hrs into the render. Is this a RAM issue? I have a 3GHz Dual Core with 8GB of RAM. I wasted an entire day rendering small sections at a time. Once the sequence was fully rendered, I couldn't output to tape without dropping frames. I don't have this issue with any of my other projects. Any thoghts?

You can output to tape using a DV or HDV Timeline Sequence.
Can you provide us with the Sequence settings that is trying to be output to tape?
Also the camera needs to be set to recieve one or the other ie. DV or HDV.
My thoughts are there is a configuation twist somewhere.

Can the NI 4350 card output a continuous digital frequency?

I am trying to send various frequencies of 0's and 1's through the digital lines using the NI 4350 (USB) but do not know if this is possible. Currently this is done via the printer port to control the speed of a stirrer but slows the computer down. I was wondering if this card can produce a continous pulse or has a buffer which can output a continuous frequency until a new fequency is specified.

The digital lines on the 4350 are capable of static or digital operation only and the speed depends on the software and operating system. You may want to consider either a counter/timer device or a 653x high speed digital device for pulse train generation.

Can FCP output HDV back to tape now? + GOP Gonforming Question

I am having problem with HDV CONFORMED render files being messed up and playing incorrect parts of video or being out of sync and jerking around.
FCP has to conform the HDV stream's GOP back to normal after editing before it can output. Does this apply to compression for DVD as well as output to Tape?
Last time I checked you couldn't output HDV to tape.
Is this new?

Actually I am having problems with the JVC HDV format and FCP.
FCP scrambles parts of the video in the render files while conforming.

Whenever I try to render something in After Effects CC 13.1.1, an error message pops up, saying "After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file '[not going to disclose]' An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted (-1610153464)."

I tried reinstalling QuickTime (7), repaired it, updated After Effects to the latest version(as I am writing this), checked firewall software, and used other formats such as AVI.
Adobe Media Encoder (CC 2014-latest version) won't work with me, either.
I sent the composition to Adobe Media Encoder, and this is what I got, no progress here.

Can other projects can output to the same output location? Yes
Can other projects render with the same render settings (codec, format, etc.)? Yes.
If you create a new composition and just add a solid layer to it with no effects in the same project does it render? No. I still get the error.
Can you render that brand new comp with the same render settings, output settings, output location etc.? Yes.
If so, what effects are present in the offending comp? Twixtor Pro in all the cinematics/clips, Motion Tile and Transform for pan/crop & wiggle, Magic Bullet Looks and Bad TV Warping preset with just Wave Warp & Venetian Blinds for color correction, Gradient Ramp for text, Bad TV Warping preset with everything for effect, Transform for fade in/out, and ReelSmart Motion Blur v4.1.2 for motion blur.
Also, what scripts are you using? Just the Move Anchor Point script I found from one of Mt. Mograph's videos, Summit 16 - 2.5D Minecraft Steve - After Effects - YouTube.
Have you ever installed any third-party codec packs? (I've heard of some codec packs causing weird issues like this.) Yes, (not everything I have, just everything I can think of and find) I have K-Lite codec pack, Fraps, x264vfw, and Xvid MPEG-4 codec.

Outputting via SDI to DigiBeta thru Blackmagic Decklink Extreme

I'm running Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 on MacOS 10.4.8. I've edited a 23.98FPS - DVCPro50 sequence. I can preview using the Decklink Extreme card fine. I can output via compenent out to a regular beta deck (UVW-1800) just fine, which is also the deck I use for monitoring while I am editing. I plug the SDI output from the decklink card into our digibeta deck (DVW-A500). I also send the audio over SDI. I see both the audio and video in my digibeta deck. If I just PLAY the sequence out, the digibeta sees and hears it fine. No problems.
This is my problem. Whenever I try to 'edit to tape' it usually starts out fine... then I get A LOT of digital drop outs / squares / digital distortion on the digibeta. They come up randomly and it also digitally distorts the audio when you play the tape back.
The digibeta deck is fine, as we use it to output via our Avid Media Composers every day...no dropouts or problems. It has to be with FCP / DeckLink Card when you try an 'edit to tape'. I've also tried a 'print to video' with the same results. Have you guys heard of this problem at all? Hopefully you have a fix for me...

Awesome - the Out Ref fix did it!
When I did the edit to tape I tried both insert editing and assemble editing - both ended up the same.
On a side discussion - how do you sync the FCP machine with the black burst generator? I'm still a bit new to this - what exactly does the genlock do on the Decklink Extreme card? Is this where I sync with the black burst?
I assume the digibeta deck will also get synced with the same black burst generator. Does this go into the reference input on the back?

Sudden Restarts MSI K7n2 DELTA ILSR

I've had this setup for about a year now.
Sudden restarts now plague my system, no virus found per NAV 2004, ran processor burn in wizard, SISOFT sandra, on cpu arithmetic and cpu multimedia setting, 100 cycles (no problems) windows memtest ran with no errors via start up disk full cycle of tests.
Have reloaded video drivers,to no avail, this happens about once a week, any ideas????
