Keeping keywords when switching servers

My government office is running 1.4.1 to handle about 300,000 images. Our IT folks have informed us that they are migrating those image files to another server. We will spend a good many hours "re-locating" those images into the database. However, it appears we will lose the keywords in the process. Not the overall list, which can be exported and imported, but rather the individual searchable words for each image. Hopefully, we have just misread the instructions and someone can set us straight. If not, is there a work-around so that we don't lose 10 years of photo ID's? Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply. Please let me be sure I understand what you're telling me. Our images reside in relevant folders under a parent directory/folder called "Photo Library" on a network server. The catalog used to access those images sits either on our desktop hardrives or on a flash drive. If I understand what you've told me, we should be able to move the entire Photo Library directory anywhere, then use the same master catalog to "re-locate" it in its new location. Is that correct?

  • Keeping state when switching to and back from a help page

    Hi
Is there anyway to keep entered data in input fields when switching to and back from a help-page?
I would like to let the user enter a lot of data (in a datatable), realize that he needs some help, click the help link, go to the link page without having all the data validated (immediate=true), and then return to the page with all the data still there.
    Any ideas

  • Why does my iTunes store keep freezing when switching iTunes stores?

I have an account in both the Canada store and the U.S. store (I buy U.S. iTunes cards for use as some shows do not come to Canada until nearly a year after its U.S. store release). However, and don't ask why I haven't posted about this earlier I noticed for the past month or two when I switch from one to the other, my iTunes freezes completely forcing me to Force Quit it and restart. It will then be in the store I was switching into (from Canada to U.S. or vice versa) but it still had to freeze and be re-opened before I could access it. Is there any reason this might be happening? I feel like it might've happened after the most recent update because it did not used to do this. I have the latest iTunes update 11.1.3 (8).
    Thanks for anyone's help.

  • How to keep color when switching from RGB to Indexed Color Mode?

    I'm working in Photoshop CS6
In Photoshop I've designed a custom crop screen for use in Magic Lantern (a program that runs with Canon cameras)   The project is in 8bit RGB and to be able to use it (in Magic Lantern) I have to change it to Indexed Color (using a an .act file provided fom them) Then I have to save it as a .bmp.  When I chnage from RGB to Indexed color (loading the .act file) the color in my Photoshop project turns to grey.
I haven't worked with Indexed colors or changing the color mode etc.
My question is... how can I keep the color (or a color similar, compatible color) to what I created in RGB when I convert it to Indexed Color using the .act file?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Attached are 4 jpgs:
    - The Crop Screen as it appears in the PSD file (RGB color/8-bit)
    - The Index Color .act file that I'm loading
    - The settings after I have loaded the act file
    - the Crop Screen with the blue color missing

  • Keeping keywords when importing photos into iphoto on second computer?

I'm transferring my and my husband's photos from our individual computers to one central computer.
I can't figure out how to combine our iphoto libraries and keep all the keyword data.
I transferred his library intact and then imported my photos from my "originals" folder. Which file is the one that stores the keywords?

    riegelmom:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The only way you can do that is with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. It will let you merge two libraries and keep rolls, albums, keywords, etc. Well worth the investment.

  • Why does Photoshop CC keep crashing when switching to 3D workspace?

When attempting to add 3D extrusion from layer I keep getting an error that reads "Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working, Windows will notify you when there is a solution to the problem", and then the program closes.  Any ideas why this keeps happening?

Excellent Question.  Just a few days ago, I was working fine in 3D, then I updated.  I can't remember whether I was using Photoshop CC before the update or if I was using Photoshop CC 2014 and it just had an available update . . . either way, I've tried disabling extensions, updating Windows 8.1, updating my graphics driver, uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop CC 2014 (both without and with the new update)  . . . . NOTHING worked.  I've now lost about 9 hours of work time just trying to get the silly 3D to work again.
I'm currently  uninstalling Photoshop CC 2014 and installing Photoshop CC.  If that doesn't work, I'll be going back further to Photoshop CS6.

  • Keeping Domain When Switching Hosts

Hey guys, I have been using the web-host izFree and they were really good but then they're server crashed...multiple times. So now I want to switch and try out ByetHost. The only problem is that I don't know how to switch hosts but use the same domain name I used previously. Any help?

I don't know how to switch hosts but use the same domain name I used previously.
Ask ByteHost. Normally you would transfer your name to them.
iWeb would not be involved in this.

  • Stor.e TV+ No Loader error keeps coming up when switching on

I have been experiencing continual problems accessing the hard drive. "No Loader" error message keeps coming up when switching on.
The so-called "solution" to this problem posted on this forum is to open up the box and fiddle with the cables. Whilst I have had some success with this method initially, dismantling the box 10 times a week is not on.
I tried something else in desperation.
When the No Loader message comes up, I switch the box off and on again from the remote.
After 2 or 3 times or so the HDD folder usually appears.
I have been doing this consistently now with great success. This however suggests that the No Loader error message is NOT a mechanical connector problem with the hard drive but (as usual) poor software (what else?).
Dismantling the unit is tantamount to switching it off for an extended period of time so may explain why this technique works.
Switching the unit on and off several times also solves the problem of the D folder not appearing on the network even though Win7 shows Store-TV-Plus as a mapped NTFS drive (but can't find the D folder).
    See the similarity?
Another thing that exacerbates problems is the unit's poor ventilation. The first thing that happens with this unit is that the rubbish stick-on rubber feet fall off.
Whilst this may seem innocuous, the ventilation slots are underneath the unit and will be blocked if there are no feet. I live in a hot country so this device gets pretty hot and behaves even more erratically unless well ventilated.
Ideally keep it well away from other units and preferably sit it on a small box by itself with the vents underneath well exposed.
I also still experience problems playing FLAC and MKV files. The unit occasionally loses synch with FLAC files which generally otherwise play OK and locks up or causes loud bangs or white noise on the speakers (dangerous).
Some MKV files just don't play at all even though VLC plays them. There are a myriad other inconsistencies but these are the most annoying.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems or does anyone have any other solutions to prevent these problems?
I don't suppose we can expect another software upgrade from Toshiba? In your dreams, pal.

OK, so I took the risk and updated the firmware of my Stor.e TV+ to the Noontec V8S latest firmware V3.0816.13_V8S from noontec website.
The update went fine without a hitch (took about 2 minutes from an old 256MB flash drive plugged into the back USB port of the unit, which I formatted before using), and some of the irritating shortcomings of the Toshiba firmware was solved. Samba worked in some fashion, but I was still not able to download songs directly to the Stor.e over wireless, which is the only other feature I currently need. The irritating remote control buttons were changed to the way any sane person would use them (I had changed my universal remote control to correct this, so would have to change the settings if I kept the updated firmware) The new firmware seems solid, but I DON'T USE THE VIDEO CAPABLITIES, so I can't comment on this.
One major drawback of this update for me is that the small display on the unit becomes much less readable. Seems like there is a problem with the font on the new firmware. I use my Stor.e exclusively as a flac music player, and since I don't have it connected to a tv the small display is crucial for me to select tracks or disks. I have 300+ discs, so the Stor.e is an excellent cheap media player which I connect to my HIFI system via a DAC.
I thus had to change back to the Toshiba firmware to correct this problem. Seems like I would still have to use USB to download music to the Stor.e when I buy new CDs. What a pity.
Incidentally, the new Toshiba firmware is very much like the old firmware, in that it lacks the capability to switch on Samba. In the readme Toshiba states that the new firmware fixes a network problem, but I think that this is probably the smallest issue most users have with the Toshiba firmware.
So, my advice to anyone having video, control or other issues with the Toshiba firmware is to flash to the Noontec firmware to see if it resolves their issues. If it doesn't one can always revert to the official Toshiba firmware as I did.
You do this at your own risk though, if you brick your unit don't blame me...

  • Has anyone else had a problem with the audio not keeping up with the video when switching to full screen on YouTube?

Hi. I have a OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1 Mac Book Air, Processor 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Has anyone else had a problem with the audio not keeping up with the video when switching to full screen on YouTube?
The video starts out fine, but if I click on the expand icon in the lower right corner of the screen the audio won't keep up.
Refreshing the page don't help at all. In fact, nothing seems to help once it starts.
I did not have this problem at all using Mavericks. The problem started after installing Yosemite.
    Any way to fix it?

only $99, i thought it was closer to $175.

  • How to keep location in a table persistent when switching between pages

    Hi -
How would I keep my last location persistent in a table when switching between pages? If I am on cell X and switch to another page, when returning to the previous page, I return to the top of the table. This can be very annoying when trying to find the same location in a large table (or even in a small one).
    Thanks.

If by "page" you mean "sheet", you can do it. To get back to the same place you were in the other sheet, click on the sheet in the sidebar (the list of sheets/tables/charts/etc on the left). Don't click on the table, click on the sheet.

How can I keep my keywords when I export my pictures to a burn disc. i am working in iphoto 8

The keywords are written to the IPTC data of the file. The Finder doesn't read this but other photo apps will.
If you want to confirm the keywords, examine the pics with Graphic Coverter.
What are you trying to do here? Back up your Library?

  • Keep Preview playing when switching windows?

Is there any possible way to keep Preview playing the file when switching windows? For example, pressing the space bar on .mp3 file begins playing it in Preview, however when switching windows, the preview pauses until you go back to the finder window. This is annoying when browsing .mp3's to play while doing other things. Any ideas?

I think you mean QuickLook, not Preview. And no, QuickLook is not intended to work that way--it is a way to do just what its name says: provide a quick looksee at the files in an open Finder window.
As for ideas: why not just open them in iTunes?
If you don't want to add them to iTunes, you can put the folder with the mp3s into Column View, make sure the box for "show preview column" is checked in View Options, then click directly on the icon for the file in the preview column (as your mouse moves over the icon, you will see the stylish play button appear on top of the icon). It will continue to play no matter what else you are doing.
