Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794 vs iPod classic 80gig

Ok so I bought my original back in '08 and now I have a refurbished one I received 2 days ago from Best Buy. I have synced my music on it, charged it and plugged it into my computer that is all. Then I plugged it into my car receiver and it worked. Yippee, but two days later I go out to get some foodz and I plug it in and it does not work. The Kenwood logo comes up on the screen of the Ipod for about 1sec and disappears and while the receiver says IPOD on it and then about 2 sec later goes to Tuner and starts playing the radio. I try this like 50 times cycling power to both devices. Plugging it in at different times and even resetting the receiver and restoring my Ipod.
Just to mention It works every time with my Ipod Nano just not my Ipod classic.
So I call Apple and they have nothing for me or anything that they know of that relates to that issue and told me to go to the Apple store.
So I call Kenwood and they have nothing for me and say its a defective Ipod.
I go to Bestbuy and Plug it into a couple of their receivers and it works.
SO! I got to Sound World where I bought my receiver and He trys a couple of things with the receiver and he told me that SInce the new Ipod version 4 update that Kenwood Excelon receivers have had trouble talking to ipods. I go ok thx bai and leave.
So I call Kenwood back and the man tells me he knows of this problem but it only effects Ipod touch and Iphones.
SO I AM LOST PLZ HELP!

I have fixed it. After more and more research it turned out to be the firmware on the Ipod was causing it not to communicate with my receiver. 1.1.2 Does not work with Kenwood Exceleon car receivers. Why I don't know, but after downgrading to 1.1.1 it works just fine.

  • IPod classic 80gig won't turn off

My iPod classic 80 gig (2007) won't turn off. It seems to me the whole Play/Pause switch is non-functional. How to fix? Everything else seems all right.
Also, when I do 'reset', and get the apple logo, is that signifying 'turned off'? (I've just bought the iPod 2nd hand, so am not familiar with it.)
    Replies appreciated.

    For what it's worth:
My iPod Photo (60G, purchased June 2005) wouldn't turn off either. I nearly always play the iPod docked to a Bose SoundDock external speaker. Yesterday, I lifted it off the speaker dock without turning it off first to take it on a trip. Discovered it wouldn't turn off by holding down pause/play, even for a full minute. No choice but to let it drain until the next day. Back home, I placed it in the dock, let it charge for about 15 minutes, turned it on (it turned on OK), turned it off *while still docked* (it turned off OK), took it out of the dock, turned it on out of the dock (OK), turned it off out of the dock (OK).
Not sure what, if anything, this means.

  • ICal to iPod Classic 80gig sync problem

    Hi,
just bought myself an iPod and wanted to sync my iCal (wich I just created for the first time) with my iPod. The problem is, that when I go to iTunes and check the box that says "Sync iCal calendars" it gives a message that says there aren't any calendars available, because I don't have any in my iCal. That's weird, cause I do have one...
I work on Leopard, have iTunes 7.5, the newest iPod software and iCal 3.0
Anybody know how to sync my Apple and my iPod?

well, I fixed it by removing EVERYTHING on my mac that had anything to do with iCal, so I made a backup of my new calendar, then deleted every old entry I ever had made (turned out I had made one like a year ago).
I don't know if this next step was necessary, but I removed and re-installed iCal. Next thing I did was import my Calender backup and I could sync the calendars with my iPod just fine now.
Hope if someone has this problem, it will help!

  • Ipod classic 80gig sync problem

when i download podcast into i tunes i set the release date to oldest to newest. When i sync the i pod and transfer podcasts to i pod they remain in same order. But after i eject the i pod and open into podcasts they are always the opposite way around ie newest to the top and oldest to the bottom.
    Help please

i have the oposite of your problem. My iPOD shows the newest on the top and oldest on bottom. So in example if this was a book I would be reading the last chapter first, go figure. I tried everything I know how but remains like that. I learned to like it that way.if the newest podcast is interesting then I follow the story with the previous one. oh, by the way on the itunes shows in the correct order. I guess is a software thing.

  • My ipod classic crashes after about 2-3 days of being attached to my Kenwood KDC-248U receiver in Pickup.  There are 2700  songs but only get through the first 200   Apple has replaced the Ipod 3x and Kenwood says it is not a problem with the receiver.

My ipod classic crashes after about 2-3 days of being attached to my Kenwood KDC-248C receiver in my Pickup.  There are about 2700+ songs on the Ipod, but only get through the first 200 to 300 songs.  The screen fades, but there is still power and a charge.  Does anyone have a clue because I don't.?

There seem to be compatibilty isuue with KDC receiver and Ipod Classic firmware 1.1.2.
Here is an earlier post on the same problem.

  • Ipod Classic not showing Photos in full screen

I have a new Ipod Classic 80gig version and have sync'd it with my windows PC. All is good other than the photos. It will display them in mini form (like a contact print) but when you click on the photo you want to look at in full size version the screen goes black and it doesn't show thge photo. Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Nick

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • When i try to sync my ipod classic my computer wont recognize the device

when i try to sync my ipod classic 80gig my computer does not recognize the device and will not sync. I have restored reset and installed the latest version of itumes

    Hello esiuolyma,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iPod is not recognized and that will not allow you to sync. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Is it possible to replace my iPod Classic with this following reasons?

    1. The battery drains faster than the tech specs.
    2. It's still under warranty.
    3. I have a Silver iPod Classic(80gig) and I compared it with my mums Black iPod Classic(80gig) and her clickwheel responds much faster. Mine usually freezes.
    4. My mums Black iPod Classic has much brighter LCD screen than mine. We both set it to 50% brightness & you can see the difference.
    5. And I noticed that the casing of my iPod wasn't perfectly attached it's a bit lose.
    6. My mum and I has tha same movies in our iPods but when i play this movies mine has more pixelation than my mums Black iPod Classic.
Do I have the right to replace it with a new one and could i demand for a Black iPod if replacement is possible?

Since no-one here is an Apple employee we can't give you any definitive answer to your question.
Only Apple can determine whether your iPod is replaceable under warranty or not.
You can either arrange online service here.
    Service request.
Or if an Apple store is near you, take it there and have them check your iPod.

  • IPod Classic won't start or connect

My iPod Classic 80gig is acting weird. The screen was black like it was dead, then I connected it to the computer and the Apple becomes somewhat visible. Then it goes dark and the Apple becomes visible again for about 2 seconds. I can hear a very faint whine then a click, and it starts over. It's like it's trying to start but can't. The computer doesn't recognize that it is connected. I've downloaded the most recent version of iTunes and rebooted, no changes. Now I have no idea what to do.
    Thanks

Unfortunately, you seem to have fallen victim to recent Itunes updates as has so many others. Peruse through the Ipod Classic threads and there will be loads of additional complaints just like yours. And, just as unfortunate, there aren't any solutions at this time.

  • New iPod Classic

I recently purchased an iPod Classic 80gig. I had an iPod Classic 30gig. My new iPod is working just fine. I have 36gig worth of music on my iTunes and I would like to know how to sync my 30gig iPod. I would like to know if there is anything I need to do in order to sync my 30gig to the computer. Will it just stop syncing when it is full?

If iTunes detects that your iPod has less capacity than your library, by default I believe iTunes will make a custom playlist that will fit your iPod and load that. You can take control though with smart playlists.
For example, create a smart playlist that is limited to 30GB* that randomly selects songs by least often played, and include criteria like "Last Played Is Not In The Last 10 Days" so that songs are forced out for at least 10 days once they're played. Set your iPod to sync to this playlist to rotate your music "inventory" through your iPod. You can get very creative with this by creating multiple playlists based on ratings, play history, and dedicated songs that you always want on the iPod. The key is to keep the sum of all playlists below the capacity of your iPod.
*Note that a 30GB iPod has less than 30GB capacity, so set the limit to 28GB to be safe.

  • IPOd Classic MIA!!!!!

OK! so I can't seem to find my ipod Classic 80gig, video ipod. I am SICK!!! I think it may have fallen out of my bag and I have been looking for it all week. Now I did register it not too soon after I got it which was about a year or so ago. WHAT CAN I DO , I mean does the fact that it's registered mean anything? Is there a way to get another? I AM DESPERATE! I LOVE THAT THING! it was a gift from my employers and I KNOW that I can't just go out and buy one. PLEASE HELP!!!

I mean does the fact that it's registered mean anything?
No. Unless it's sent in to Apple or taken to a retail Apple Store, Apple won't help with that. Report it to the police.
Is there a way to get another?
Not unless a third-party insurance policy on it covers loss of the product.

  • Kenwood car stereo won't recognize ipod classic

Purchased my first Ipod, (ipod classic). Works great on its own. Connects to Kenwood KDC MP532U car stereo through USB port. However, stereo states "no music". Can this be fixed, or did I just waste my $$ on Ipod?

Search for Kenwood on this forum, there are a number of suggested fixes.
First of all, you should be able to get a firmware update for your stereo from the Kenwood website. Check your model on the Kenwood website.
Also, make sure you upgrade to 1.1.1 - this appears to solve a number of problems in connecting to non-Apple hardware.
    I hope that helps.

  • Kenwood DNX/DDX - iPod Classic behaviour

Does anyone have a Kenwood DNX 7200 (7120) or DDX 7029/8029 and an iPod Classic?
I've just done a review of this using my 5.5G Video iPod (80GB) and aside from an otherwise fantastic interface, it doesn't go "back" up the menus once music is playing - i.e. if I'm in a list of albums chosen from an artist, I can't then go back up.
    Does the Classic do this?
