Best Settings for two displays

Final Cut has layout settings for Dual Displays --- I have two displays but prefer to learn Motion first and FCP later --- any recommendations?

I've created and saved ten or more different 2-display layouts. I keep changing them around. Just pull off the tabs and build them the way you want, save the layout. Give yourself a few projects to see how you like it, move 'em around, save the layout to a new name.
I have found placing the 4-port display on the larger display is convenient if it's on the right. Everything else is arranged on the smaller monitor, on the left side of the desk, with the windows I use less in the upper left corner, timeline along the bottom, inspector along the right side, and layers/media in the middle. I use the inspector more often than anything else so it's closer to the viewports.
Warning...when you move Motion's panes around, Motion sometimes loses track of which windows have the focus and you can lose many functions, especially keyboard shortcuts.

Can not change from French Keyboard settings to another language

Just installed a user account (french) and for some odd reason every time i change the keyboard input to another language it still switches back or simply keeps on using the french input, even if i totally de-select it from the input list and leave only the language i want to use.
i ran disk utilities to fix permissions, also fixed keychain permissions as well; still the same.
can anyone please advise on what i should do about this to get it working right?

ok i finally got rid of france and the french curse here
Your right to remove the prefs folder,
1-i moved it to the desktop, and noticed when i re-logged in what was in the pref folder,
2-then narrowed it down to the files that where again created automatically in the prefs folder for the keyboard input after i selected another country flag .
3- i then drag and dropped all the files from the previous prefs folder that had the com.apple etc, and i chose to replace what i refered, like for example my DOC prefs, and the rest i did not replace.
everything is now back, this user had so many prefs since OS9 !, wierdo.

Login Settings for multiple language sites

I'm using the standard ADDT Control Panel Login Settings for a site that has multi-country and multi-language areas. However, the global redirect pages (login, redirects) can't be customised to each specific country area as they need a direct page reference. How do I get round this so I can have individual page redirections per country?

 just an idea: let´s assume you´re storing the country areas in the main "users" table like this:
 
 - en
 - de
 - fr
 
 ..., you could...
 
 1. add a recordset to the global redirect page like this:
 
 "SELECT country_area FROM users WHERE user_id" equals the Session Variable kt_login_id
 
 2. implement a simple standard PHP redirection which embeds the recordset´s value, like this:
 
 <?php header('Location: http://www.yoursite.com/page_'.$row_queryname['country_area'].'.php' ) ; ?>
 
 This should translate to "page_en.php", "page_de.php" etc etc

Best Settings For Two Person Podcast?

What are the best Garageband 08 settings for a two person podcast? Should I add a compressor or EQ to the master track, etc? Any and all tips will be greatly appreciated!

Well - for the internal mic I can only say that the quality will be so bad that you don't have to worry about any particular settings. Sit as close to the microphone as possible, you still will hear the internal fan of the Mac.
As for your USB headsets: You will have to create an "aggregate device" to be able to record the two voices to two channels. Try selecting one of the voice presets in GB. You won't want to use a lot of effects like compression or EQing, you'll want your voices to sound as faithful as possible.
In both cases, pay less attention to the after effects and more to getting the best possible recording quality - if your recording is messed up or the level too low etc., it won't get better by applying effects.

NVidia Settings for Two Different Graphics Cards?

I just built a new system for video editing with Adobe CC 2014 including both the Quadro K4000 AND the GeForce GTX780 DirectCU II OC graphics cards. I was wondering what are the best settings in the NVidia control panel for apps such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Speedgrade, Encore, etc. I see that there are global settings and app specific settings.
One question I have concerns the CUDA cores. Should I select one graphics card over the other or use the global (all) setting? How does that work? For CUDA, if I select Global, does the system decide automatically which card to use or does it combine the CUDA cores of both cards?? Seems like an important distinction.
Also, I have two monitors: ASUS PA279 (2560x1440) and a JVC PS-420W (1920x1080) How should these be connected to the computer for best performance and picture quality? Should I use DVI or HDMI connections?
And, of course, the Quadro K4200 just appeared on the market, which offers almost double the CUDA cores and 4 GB RAM instead of 3 GB on the K4000. Should I return the K4000 and replace with the K4200? price difference not much.
The rest of my system includes:
Processor - Intel i7-4930k 6-core 3.4 GHz
Motherboard - ASUS P9X79-E WS
RAM - Corsair Dominator 2133 DDR3 64 GB
System drive - Intel SSD 530 Series 240 GB
Storage - WD Black 16TB (4x4TB) RAID 0

Our NVIDIA Quadro K4000 is an excellent choice for supporting Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 for video editing.
Forgive me, but we do not recommend installing Quadro and GeForce graphics boards together in the same configuration. That does not mean that you cannot do it, and honestly, in Windows 7, it may actually be OK to have both cards installed (each with its own driver), but we still do not recommend it, and do not support it.
Furthermore, I support Quadro products only, not GeForce products, so I do not have a lot more to say about the GeForce card, other than to say that GeForce cards are intended for use supporting games and home use, while Quadro graphics boards are intended for use in workstations, supporting professional applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud 2014.
I recommend installing the Quadro K4000 into the primary (top) PCIe x16 slot, and to install the latest ODE graphics driver for it:

I recommend using the default settings in NVIDIA control panel. The system will use the card in the primary slot. While Adobe CC applications are multi-GPU aware, and designed to automatically use the second GPU to improve performance, I feel more confident that you will see a benefit by using a second Quadro card in the secondary PCIe slot. I do not know whether Adobe CC will use the GeForce GPU to boost performance, or not (as again, this is not supported or recommended).
For the Asus PA279, I recommend using a DisplayPort (DP) 1.2 cable (or perhaps a dual-link DVI cable) to connect it to the K4000. I recommend using a single-link DVI cable (or perhaps a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, together with an HDMI cable) to connect the JVC PS-420W to the K4000.

What a stubborn machine! Whenever I set the CUDA setting to GTX780 and hit 'Apply' it would jump back to the Quadro. Even after changing the Global setting to the GTX780 and back to Premiere it would do that. After a few times, it finally changed to what I wanted. Now Premiere, AE and Speedgrade are set to GTX780 for CUDA. However, there is a graph that shows GPU Utilization and it shows the Quadro still doing the brunt of the work - about 50-60% compared to the GTX at 5-8%. I suppose that's a different setting I need to change?
I had both monitors connected to the Quadro. I just put the 2nd display on the GTX. Does it matter? And does it matter what connector type - HDMI, DVI, etc.?
I set the BIOS to Gen 3 for the slots that the GPUs are in. And enabled 'Above 4G Decoding'. That Quadro is a PCI E 2.0 card. I see a 'little bit' of performance improvement playing back 3 layers of video with effects Magic Bullet Looks and different blending modes. It does not like the Neat Video noise reducer and some of the other effects, though. Still pretty crippled. Maybe a hard drive issue? I've got a 4 x 4 TB RAID 0 WD Black series on the onboard controller. 64 GB RAM is plenty.

Security Settings for two admin groups with shared service

I use Essbase Administration Services 11.1.2 and Hyperion Shared Services Console 11.1.2.0.73 (Drop 17)
Access Rights are granted via Groups in Hyperion Shared Service Console.
We have two admin groups.
AccessGroup 1: admin rights on some cubes (A) and read rights on all others (B).
AccessGroup 2: admin rights on (B) and read rights on (A).
If someone of AccessGroup 1 copies a cube of (A) – Fin_rep for example – wether AccessGroup 1 nor AccessGroup 2 can even see the cube (and i dont even mention admin rights) execpt the one who copied it.
Settings in Shared Services Console:
- Both groups have role "Create/delete application" and "AccessManager" (or something like that - german word is "Zugriffsberechtigungsmanager") on Essbase Cluster (our essbase server).
- AccessGroup 1 has role "ApplicationManager" and "AccessManager" for all cubes which they should administrate (A)
and role "Read" for all cubes with read only (B)
- AccessGroup 2 has role "ApplicationManager" and "AccessManager" for all cubes which they should administrate (B)
and role "Read" for all cubes with read only (A)

Security will not copy over when you create new cube from old cube. You have to grant security to required groups using shared services or Maxl.

Keyboard settings for external keyboard get lost between sessions

Hello!
I use MacBook Pro laptop which I connect to external mac keyboard when come to work. I prefer to use "F1, F2... etc" keys as functional keys so I turn on this setting in bootcamp control panel. However, each time I disconnect the keyboard and connect it back this setting stops to affect that keyboard while setting is still set to true in control panel.
Is this problem going to be solved?

Any of the regular helpers here will tell you that CCleaner deletes settings files resulting in the sort of upsets you have described. I don't know why you didn't have such trouble under previous versions of windows, but since I choose not to use windows 8 I'm not able to comment on how or if the behaviour has changed.
There have been changes in Thunderbird itself, allegedly, which I haven't seen applied to any of my own three installations of Thunderbird, that might mean that there are new files that need to be specifically excluded from CCleaner's actions. Maybe these changes are specifically related to Windows 8 installations. If you have a ''xulstore.json'' in the profile on the affected machine(s) then try adding ''xulstore.json'' to CCleaner's exclusions.

What do you do in Thunderbird that you consider ''needs'' to be cleaned up by CCleaner? CCleaner picks on files whose names coincide with similar files used by browsers to record browsing history. Thunderbird uses, for instance, json files to store configuration settings. If you allow CCeaner to delete these from Thunderbird's profile then Thunderbird will necessarily forget things.
We always advise to exclude all of Thunderbird's profile from CCleaner. If you won't take that advice then you're rather on your own.

EXPORT SETTINGS FOR TWO-DAY SEMINAR- HELP

Does anyone know how the best export settings using compressor for a two-day training/seminar video? There's about 12hours total that need to be burned to DVD.

You're going to have to break this down to multiple DVD's. Everyone NEEDS a bathroom break about every 2 hours-- so it looks like 6 dvd's.
There is absolutely no reason to even try to put this on one disc.

Creating Keyboard shortcut for two different actions with same menu name..

Am using soundforge pro .. I have to process nearly 1000 audio files, and want to create shortcuts for "Smooth"
The problem is there are two Menu names named "Smooth"
Fade In > Smooth
Fade Out > Smooth
I want to assign different shortcuts for each one.. Is it possible ?

Keyboard settings for Fn - automatic using regedit

Is a registry key that can set the options for [ Fn ] permanent on or off ( in Microsoft Windows 8.1 )

I'm not sure if it's Fast Track Pro, the box just says M-Audio Fast Track. My keyboard is connected into the guitar slot with a 1/4" jack, which M-Audio said to do, then the interface is connected to my mac through usb. I've done this before and it worked, but for some reason I couldn't get it to work yesterday. I tried using a mic through the interface, selected "real instrument" and GB picked up the signal just fine, and it also works with electric guitar. But when I use the keyboard and select "software instrument" GB isn't get a signal, but the interface is. Also under "software instrument" in GB my options are grayed out as far as selecting "My instrument is connected with". And when I go to Preferences>Audio/Midi, it says "0 midi inputs detected" if I'm using my keyboard through the fast track, but if I use the mic through the fast track it says "1 midi input detected". About a month ago I used my keyboard connected through fast track to record and it worked fine, but I'm still new to GB and wondering if there's a setting that I'm missing. I also updated everything last night. I just like using fast track because I get more volume than when my keyboard is directly connected to my mac thru usb.

I got the requirement where i need to create the form for the Annuitant (Retriees) through they will inform their annuity department still they are surviving....so based upon the annuitant department run the annuity payslip for him.......
In that I should keep company information in the top and resprctive employee information like EMP ID and his contact address need to specify by default.....
For ex: Employee X is clicking this form..it should contain common information like company name and also employee's "X" respective information like his EMP ID and his contact address like wise the form should generate both common address and employee respective information.....both in Arabic and in english....
Is there any readymade BSP for this or if anybody have developed same kind of BSP pls send the code to [email protected]

Imageclass D530 settings for two side printing

My new D530 is set for front and back printing as OFF yet it still prints front and back even though no instructions to do so.
Could this be a driver problem? They have told me my driver sent with the printer is not correct for Windows 8. I tried downloading one from the sight. It did not load. I can print but stuck in double sided mode even though says OFF. Any suggestions?

In the Mac OS X operating system, you will need to turn off 2-sided printing in each application. Please follow the steps below:
Click [File], and then [Print] in the application you would like to print from.
Click the drop-down arrow next to [Copies & Pages]or the name of the program. This depends on the program that you are printing from.
Select [Layout].
Set the 2-sided option as [OFF].
Click the "Presets" drop-down arrow and click "Save current setting as preset."
Name it "1-sided" or "Single-Sided" and verify that the imageCLASS D530 is the only printer selected.
Click "OK".
Print the document.
