Keyboard shortcut for the Document Folder in file open/save dialog

Does anyone know if there exists a keyboard shortcut for Document Folder in the File Save/Open Dialog? <command><shift>O works in the Finder. I tried variations of that in the dialog and didn't find any. <command>D takes you to the desktop. I tried other variations surrounding that to get to the Document Folder and didn't find any.
Anyone? Bueller?

There isn't.

is there (or can I create) a keyboard shortcut for the command "export"?

Keyboard Shortcuts are created in the System Preferences app, Hardware section, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
Select Application Shortcuts on the left.
Click the "+" sign on the right and in the dialog box that pops up, enter: "Export..." and your preferred key combination. Here's an example:
Keep in mind that when you enter the name of the action in a layered menu, such as File > Export..., or Share > Export..., you are only going to enter the last menu choice, not the higher levels.

Is there a keyboard shortcut for the alt or option symbol ⌥ and the command symbol ⌘? I need this a lot to take notes from tutorials etc. I know I can copy them from other text or access the special character menu, but I would love to have a easier shortcut.

You can try making one for yourself via system preferences/keyboard/text/symbol and text substitution

  • How to open File open/save dialog for a file saved in the Appl. Server?

    Hi Experts,
My requirement is that, there will be a link in my BSP page "Link to BI Report" and when the user will click this link, the File open/save Dialog box will appear for a BI Report file that will be in a fixed path in the Application Server. I have checked with <a href="/usr/sap/tmp/bi_report.csv"> tag but it is not working. The BI report file will be currently in the CSV format. Any ideas about how to achieve this? Thanks in advance.

If you want to work in tabbed view, do it like this:
Select the move tool. Go to the tab that contains one of the image files.
Drag the image over the tab that has the blank document (Keep holding down the mouse button). Wait till that tab opens.
Drag & drop the image into the blank document.

  • File Open/Save dialog

    Hi,
One of my pet peeves about Jdeveloper and by extension of SQLDeveloper is that the file open/save dialog does not have quick way to navigate to familiar places on my computer like "My Documents" or "Desktop". For eg., in Word, I can navigate to My Recent Documents, Desktop, My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places.
I know Jdeveloper and SQLD are also meant for the Unix Platform, but having shortcuts like My Network Places, Desktop, My Computer etc atleast for the Windows based tools would make it immensly easier to find files.
Something even better would be to allow each person to customize that list of shortcuts he can have in that list.
    Thanks
    Alex

Yes, this is absolutely necessary for Windows users!
In a non-java Windows application I can usually put a shortcut to my favored directory in the directory an application might default to, then double-click it and the windows environment is smart enough to move to that directory, and I can save my files.
Java is stupid in this regard. It thinks you are trying to save the file to the name of the shortcut. I CANNOT stand an application that isn't smart enough to set preferences to default file locations!
I should also add that I set the USER_DIR to the directory I save all my files in (on my u:drive) and SQL Developer then runs those files without the entire path (I can just put in @a for example) but it is too STUPID to save to this directory!

  • Keyboard shortcut for Compare Documents (or configurable keyboard shortcuts)

    Hi,
I'm guessing the ability to configure Keyboard Shortcuts as one can in other Adobe applications is coming soon to Acrobat (the software release cycles haven't quite synched up yet), but if there are no plans for this, I would appreciate a Keyboard Shortcut for a function I use very frequently: Compare Documents.
    Thanks much,
    Adam

If you go to system prefs - keyboard & mouse - keyboard shortcuts you can set a shortcut for anything that is in the mail menus.
click the + at bottom left to add one, select mail from the applications drop down, then type in the exact name of the mail menu item you want a shortcut for eg :Add Hyperlink . Then find a shortcut combo that isn't in use by something else & there you are.
I prefer the edit link, so's you get a neat link, rather than the (sometimes) 3 line url.

we've noticed that mail doesn't send rtf that outlook on an exchange server likes
unless you not only enable rtf, but also actually make some alteration that really requires rtf. That's to say a different font,a larger font, italics, a signature in italics, a colour etc.
The fact that your composed message displays in arial 48pt (for example) doesn't cut it - it'll still be sent as plain unless you do one of the above. Making a change & reversing it works too.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for the Fade In / Fade out Behavior

I use the Fade in/out behavior a lot and i wonder if there's a shortcut i've not found. what is it?
If there is not, can I create one? or for other behaviors / filters used a lot? Thanks for any help.

There is a way to do this using the System Preferences. I found this tip years ago on a web site I can no longer find anywhere, but I still use it and it still works:
    1) Go to the Library, drag the Fade In Fade Out behavior into the Favorites Menu folder in the left-side column.
    2) Go to the Favorites menu category in the Library, check to make sure your behavior is there.
    3) Go to the Favorites menu in the main menu, check to make sure your behavior is listed as a menu item. Make sure to note the name of the menu item there.
    4) If it's there, go to System Preferences, and click on the Keyboard & Mouse icon.
    5) Go to Keyboard Shortcuts, click the + button at the bottom left to add a new shortcut.
    6) Choose "Motion" from the Applications popup, then type in the exact name of the Fade In Fade Out behavior in the Menu Title box (it has to be exact, otherwise this won't work). You don't need the "Favorites" part, just the menu name, in this case "Fade In Fade Out".
    7) Choose whatever key shortcut you want, but make sure it doesn't override any existing ones in Motion!
    8) Click Add in the dialog.
Now, when you switch back to Motion, you can press that key you just added and it will instantly add a Fade In/Fade Out behavior to the selected layer automatically. This works with anything you can add to the Favorites Menu, just keep track of the name and you can add custom layers, filters, behaviors, or anything else you can stash in the Library, and recall them with a custom hotkey.

    Hi
it's called Zoom - found under the Window menu, and if you create a new shortcut for Safari in System Preferences-Keyboard & Mouse-Keyboard Shortcuts... you can assign a key combo of your choice to it.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for the arrows in grid view?

When you click on an album (or TV-show) in grid view there are two small arrows in the upper right corner, for flicking through to next or previous album.
Question: is there a keyboard shortcut for these arrows? Would be relly nice...
    I mean these buttons: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/2205425/itunes_pilar.png

    Ah this is useful!
However... it turns out that you have to press shift as well, so:
For left: ⇧⌘ [ (meaning SHIFT - COMMAND - LEFT SQUARE BRACKET)
For right: ⇧⌘ ] (meaning SHIFT - COMMAND - RIGHT SQUARE BRACKET)

I know that you can click the arrow on the right of the tab bar to access the tabs from other computers, but is there a keyboard shortcut for it, or another way to access it?

And then, you can switch groups by CTRL+` (grave accent, since my kb is portuguese, I have to do CTRL+ SHIFT + ´) or CTRL+~ (tilde)

  • Word 2013 shows full UNC path instead of local "Documents" folder on file Open and Save

Normally Word (and Excel) by default will show the user's local "Documents" folder when opening or saving a file. That is what we want. However, after using Windows Server Folder Redirection to redirect the Documents folder to the network (Windows
Server 2012R2), Word now shows the full UNC path to the network share.
    Instead of seeing:
    "MyPC  Documents"
    users see
    \\sever1\redirect$\username\documents
Folder redirection is supposed to be transparent to the user. Virtually all our other applications, including Office 2003, respect this convention and continue to show "Documents". As you can see, Word even exposes a hidden share.
Even if we go to File / Options / Save and browse to the local Documents folder as the place Word should open and save files from, Word immediately removes the path you have browsed to, and replaces it with the UNC path.
Is there a way to suppress this behavior? Thanx!
    Dana

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, you only want others to see some part of path name, rather than full UNC path name. It is right?
It seems that we can’t implement your requirement. When we open a file from “My Pictures”, it shows “My picture” instead of showing the full path “C:\Users\User\Pictures”. “My Picture” is set as a library in Windows, so it hides
full path by design. We can't set \\sever1\redirect$\username\documents as a library.
As a workaround, you can upload these files to OneDrive and share link to others.
If I have anything misunderstood, don't hesitate to tell me.

  • File Open/Save dialog Restrict the user path selection Is there any way?

    Hello,
Is there any way by which we can restrict the user from selecting the path from the Folder Browser/ File Open/ File Save dialog boxes?
For example, I have a list of paths & want to allow the users to select from those paths or their sub folders. Is there any way to achieve this?
    Thanks!

    Hello Vinay Pugalia,
    >>For example, I have a list of paths & want to allow the users to select from those paths or their sub folders. Is there any way to achieve this?
As far as I know, starting with Windows Vista, the Open and Save As common dialog boxes have been superseded by the
    Common Item Dialog:

You could have a try to restrict the value of “look in”(shown in the opne dialog) and “Save in”(shpwn in the save dialog). If you want an example about the usage of this API, you could post a code sample request to:

  • Keyboard shortcut for moving documents?

    Hi all,
Potentially a long shot, but was wondering if a keyboard shortcut exists to move documents into a folder on my computer?
Files downloaded get save to my Desktop and I sort into folders from there, and was wondering if there was a way to make this process easier - e.g. like sorting emails in an email inbox into a folder.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks much,
    Ryan

    Welcome to the forum.
Neale has given you the "trick," that you need. Just do not forget to hit the S key again, to toggle Snap back on, when you go to do other editing, or things will not work as before.

  • Keyboard shortcut for 'replace document colours?

    (I'm on windows 7 with acrobat 9 from cs5)
Hi all, I recently discovered the 'replace document colors' option in the accessibility preferences.
What I would like to know (and/or request if it isn't already available) is if there is a keyboard shortcut to quickly switch this preference on/off?  Or, is there a way to script something like this to add it in?
If there was a toolbar button, or keyboard shortcut to go with the other accessibility shortcuts, this feature would be even better.  My thought is that you would set your colour preferences for background/text and then use the shortcut to quickly enable or disable the custom colors as needed (similar to web browsers and their custom style sheets).

    There isn't.
