Keyframing multiple clips simultaneously.

Hi there.
Ok - I'm convinced this is possible, since I remember reading a tutorial on it a long long time ago. I just can't remember for the life of me how to do it! Here's what I'd like to know:
I have two clips stacked on top of each other (V1+V2) and would like to fade them both out simultaneously, using keyframes (pen tool) instead of just adding fade effects. At the moment I'm having to add the keyframes to one clip and then match their position on the other clip, but I'm sure there's a clever technique which would allow me to add, and edit, the keyframes to both clips simultaneously, (as if adding a pair of keyframes to a stereo pair.) Personally, I'm dealing with opacity in just two clips, but in theory it could be any parameter in the motion tab, and any number of clips.
Can someone put me out of my misery please?!
THANKS A MILLION IN ADVANCE....!!

Set up one clip how you want it. Copy the clip. Highlight the other clip and right click.
Choose "Paste Attributes" from the pop up. Select "Basic Motion" from the list.

  • How to apply Time Remap to multiple clips simultaneously

Quite often after trimming many different clips for a wedding video I will then want the majority of them slowed down to a 50% speed. I know how to apply the Time Remap Speed % change in the Motion Tab, but have yet to figure out how to make the change to multiple clips simultaneously.
    Thanks for your help!

You can apply a speed change from one clip to multiple clips by copying the first one, then pasting attributes (option + V, then select speed from the list) onto as many clips as you have selected.
Just be aware that this will ripple your timeline by extending all of your clips. FCP keeps the original out point of the source clip, not the out point of each cut on the T/L.

  • Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously?

Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously? I'd like to uniformly speed up and slow down two different clips that are playing in a picture-in-picture setup. I’m hoping there’s a more elegant way to sync them up than just editing their Time Remapping functions individually (I already tried using an Adjustment Layer. It didn’t work).

you can try nesting the two clips together, then control the time remapping of the nest.

  • Scrolling multiple clips simultaneously when selected

Does cs6 allow you scroll multiple clips simultaneously when selected.  It seems I can only scroll one clip even the other clips are selected as well.
I also can't seem to select all clips in just two tracks  (not select all).  3.0 allowed for both of these functions which I use often.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Scroll multiple clips simultaneously"  Do you mean you want to click-and-drag multiple clips around the timeline?  Make sure none of the selected clips are Locked in Time (right-click menu on a clip, or you'll see a small lock icon in the lower-left corner.)
There is a menu command to select all clips in a selected track, but currently, this only functions on one track at a time.  If the full timeline is visible, the selection tools should allow you to click-and-drag to select all the clips in consecutive tracks.  We have been enhacing these MT selection tools internally for a future release, but I'll verify that the functionality you've requested is present.

  • Moving multiple clips simultaneously on timeline

    Hi!
Is it possible to move multiple clips - lying side by side - simultaneously to a new location on timeline. I know how to move one clip at a time.
    Regards.

Drag a lasso around all the clips you want, that will highlight them all. Then move to where you want.

  • Moving multiple clips simultaneously..?

How do you move multiple clips at the same time? I don't mean on the timeline, but in the viewer? ie, firstly selecting multiple clips stacked vertically in the timeline then moving their position or scale in the viewer? How can you do this to all the clips you've selected simultaneously?

    Let Adobe know.

  • Keyframed lens flare across multiple clips in the timeline?

How can  I apply a keyframed lens flare that continues across multiple clips in my timeline?
Using keyframes I am trying to have a lens flare travel across several clips in my timeline as one contiunes movement.
Back in the day (before elements) i could do this in Premiere using something called virtual clips (I think).
Thanking you in adavance for any help on this or "virtual clips"

    Welcome to the forum.
Premiere Pro allows for Transparent Video (think the opposite of Black Video, in both PrPro and PrE), but PrE does not have that feature. You are probably thinking of Sub-Clips, also not available directly in PrE.
Steve's method will work, but here is another to consider:
Place the WAB (Work Area Bar) over those particular contiguous Clips, and then Publish+Share (for PrE 11, or Share for PrE 7 - 10), and export those contiguous Clips to an AV file. The choice of Publish+Share settings will depend on what you have for your Source Footage, and what your Project's Preset is. If you are working with, say AVCHD, then doing the Publish+Share to matching H.264 will probably be what you want.* In the Publish+Share dialog, make sure to check Work Area, to limit that to JUST the area defined by the WAB. Import that output file into your Project, and replace those edited Clips with it. Apply your Keyframed Lens Flare to that Clip. That is basically a manual Sub-Clip, but with a few more steps, than in PrPro.
    Good luck,

  • Adjusting audio of multiple clips in the timeline simultaneously

Is there a way to adjust the audio volume of multiple clips in the timeline simultaneously?

Or you can send the whole things over to Audition and work in multitrack there.
I like to get everything edited in Prmiere and then send the audio (I never bother with a refernce video) to Audition for finish work.  There you can apply effects to individual clips, individual tracks or the entire mix.  I always put a hard limiter on the Master track at -3dB to prevent clipping.  Since this is the last filter in the chain I can boost other clips first and still know that my audio will never be too loud

  • How to put effects on multiple linked clips simultaneously

I want to dynamically link all of the vocal clips at the same time, if possible, from a Premiere Pro CS4 Project to Soundbooth CS4 and "warm" them up a bit in a sort of batch process. Can this be done, kind of like precomposing in AE or using an adjustment layer? They were all recorded in an interview setting and are virtually identical--just two people with same mic, etc.
    Thanks, everyone.

I am not adding an effect. I am adjusting ONE single effect within multiple clips that have multiple effects. if I just copy and paste it copies ALL the effects, which I do not want, because I have different effects for different clips. i.e. different color schemes etc.
In otherw ords, I wnat to be able to EDIT effects in multiple clips. E.G, I have added color correction, "looks" filter, etc to multiple clips.  I just want to change ONE of those effects in multiple clips without disturbing the rest of the effects in those clips.

  • Trimming multiple transitions simultaneously.

Didn't we use to be able to trim multiple transitions simultaneously? For instance, having a cross dissolve on a clip on video track 1 as well as on audio track 1. Selecting both clips and dragging to trim the transition which adjusts both video and audio together. Also if there was video on tracks 1-3 and you wanted to trim all the transitions the same.
Now it seems that you have to click and drag each individually. I always hated that final cut operated like that and now premiere?

Logical would be if more than one item is selected then the all are manipulated. Also efficient.
A video dissolve doesn't infer an audio cross mix. It's very common at the end of a segment to fade to black. Fading the audio at this time is also a good choice. If you added a default 1 second dissolve to the video and also to the linked audio and then decided to increase the transition duration of both at the same time you can't. Move one then the other. Inefficient.
Perhaps a better example would be when you have two mono channels linked and add a cross fade transition to both. You're likely want to adjust them the same. Moving one the. Having to move the another to match is very wrong.
I've never noticed it being an issue before which is why I believe there has been a change. I'm hoping someone will have a solution.

  • Exporting multiple clips to Media Encoder

    Hi there,
I need to export multiple clips from Premiere Pro CS4 to Media Encoder (so I can work with the footage at a lower resolution then replace with the original clips).
Currently I am exporting each clip individually, which is very time consuming as I have hundreds of clips.
Is there a way to export all the clips simultaneously?
    Thanks!

    As individual clips?  No.
You might try using a Watch Folder in Adobe Media Encoder.  The Help file should have the details.
However, the best solution is to upgrade your hardware so that the native media works without issue.

  • Move multiple clips as a group.

When needing to apply the same Position animations to multiple clips, is there a way to "link" or "group" them together and just apply the animation settings to the group only?
I need the clips to remain separate, able to have their own effects, etc, while all moving in synch with each other.

I usually set the position/scale etc on 1 clip then select 'Motion' in Effects Controls panel and copy it (ctrl+c or right click and pick copy), then just select the clips in the timeline you want to apply the animations to and paste them (ctrl+v or mac equiv). It of course shows nothing in the effects control panel when you select multiple clips but if you now select them individually you'll see they have the motion keyframes applied. Not sure if there's a better way?

  • Easy way to mute audio on multiple clips in PRE 10?

In the process of creating my movie and experimenting with different sound tracks, I would like to temporarily mute the audio on multiple clips, but I can’t find a convenient way to do it.  I don’t want to delete the audio as I may revert back to using it.  I am aware of two methods, however both can only be used with a single clip.  (I want to do in a single operation with multiple clips).
Method 1:           Unlink audio and video, then disable audio track.
Method 2:           Right click on clip, select Audio Gain, and set gain level to -96 db.
Both of these methods are tedious when you need to apply them to many clips, and equally so if you want to revert back to the original.

You are correct that the Audio Mixer handles Tracks. It's the same thing with the Keyframes and adjustments made via Audio Mixer. That was why I suggested placing selected Clips on selected Tracks.
When I am doing heavy Audio work, I always use multiple Audio Tracks, as that allows me infinite control. I also change the names of those Audio Tracks so that I know exactly what's one each, say "Lake Ambience Dusk," "Loon Near," "Loon Far," Frogs," "Crickets," "Music," "Narration," etc.. Then each Track can be adjusted, precisely, and I can also add Track Keyframes, via the Audio Mixer, to adjust Volume of each Track. Since the Audio Mixer applies Track Keyframes (not Clip Keyframes), I do that as my final step, when I have completed my actual Cutting and Trimming. Next to prehaps final scoring, this set of adjustments is the last thing that I do.
    Good luck,

  • Capture and Editing multiple shots simultaneously

Hello I know that I can capture multiple clips with BlackMagic DeckLink Quad. I can also edit multiple clips in Premiere with Multi-cam sequence. But is it possible, capture and cutting simultaneously?
    Thanks

    joe bloe premiere wrote:

Yes... on two different systems running two licensed copies of Premiere.
    Is that really true?
Most NLEs have issues with editing a file that isn't presented to them as closed, even if captured in a seperate instance of the same application.
EVS are hooked up with Adobe now to emulate their FCP workflow, whereby edit while capture is possible. (They also do this with Avid), but that isn't a cheap option, unless you have EVS servers knocking around ;-)
Gallery.co.uk have their PictureReady software, which would possibly work with CS6 (it presents a QT Ref file to the app that then 'fills in' as capture progresses).
ToolsOnAir offer some solutions in this regard, as do Telestream with Pipeline.
MOG also offered an edit while capture solution for Avid, that might work with CS6.
You'll likely be out there doing the alpha research of whatever you try out (other than the EVS stuff, which I'm sure has quite a bit of testing going on behind it - not sure it can replace all the EVS <--> FCP7 functionality yet though).
You'll also need some decent shared storage to be able to write and read simultaneously.
Having reread the question - the Blackmagic app should be able to do the capturing for you, rather than a seperate PPro instance, but I don't believe it will do the 'filling in' of a QT ref that would enable edit while capture. Still be good to be able to capture in the background and do 'stop/start' to close files so they can be edited with.
Also possible that you could use duplicated inputs on the BM Quad to do 'rolling edits' (i.e. so you don't miss anything when you break record).
Good luck if you try it...

  • How to change Opacity Blending on multiple clips...??

    First the problem:
    Whenever I open a Premiere v6.5 project, CS4 does a "conversion."
Maddeningly, during this process, it changes the Opacity\Blending Mode of every single clip in the project to "Color" instead of leaving it at "Normal."
Since I am working with Stereo (3D) footage with a different camera on V2 & V1, I always have at least two, and often many more, video tracks (for titles, etc).
This means I have to go through every single clip on every single video track and reset it to Normal before I can proceed with the project! This can be upwards of 500 clips.
    PITA!!
    1) Does anyone have any idea why this is happening & how to prevent it?
    or,
    2) Is there a way to change this setting in all the clips at the same time?
Whenever I select multiple clips, no Effect Settings (or whatever Shift 5 is called) appear. Only there for single clips.
    TIA,:-)

Do one clip, copy (rightclick) the clip, select all the others and paste attributes.
