Keynote 3.0 - HTML

Does any one have experience in exporting to an html document? Current 2.0 user wanting to upgrade with more/better export options and would like to embed the entire presentation into html file with transitions and animated bullets... yes, no?
Thank You.

Hey Brian... thanks for your reply. I figured that would be the case with the html export. I have been fooling around with quicktime, flash and other export options - as it turns out QT is the best for our needs, however the file size is substantial at 15 plus megs and although you can customize file size with various compressors, there is no option to set for streaming (our end use is via the web and 800x600 is preferred size). Do you know of any work around for this... the best compression I have found is Animation, but it kind of destroys the backgrounds and colors, so we have been using Sorenson 3. Your input is appreciated.

Why is it when I convert a keynote show into HTML, PC users cannot see it properly on their computers?

It looks perfect using Google Chrome on my Mac. But doesn't work well on Explorer on a PC.  It seems to be way off center.
There is never any guarantee that automatically generated html will look right on every browser, especially Explorer.  For max compatibility with MS stuff it's best to use Office to start with instead of iWorks.
I don't know whether you could manually edit the Keynote html to make it work better with Explorer.  It would be interesting to know whether it looks right in Windows Safari, Chrome, or FireFox so you could know whether only IE does it wrong.

  • Keynote html export not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer

I exported a Keynote presentation to html, uploaded it to my server, and only half of the slide shows in Internet Explorer. Every other browser displays the presenation just fine. Any ideas how to correct the Explorer error?

Hello! I have a real fix to this issue.
Open the the player.js file and find the o an u varibles and hard code a resolution, I chose 1280x1024. Choose anything you want it will all work. There's some issue with the varibles that are being passed because as soon as you hard code a resolution it works across the board... All browsers are good.
    o=document.viewport.getWidth();
    u=document.viewport.getHeight();
are the varibles that you must change... I changed mine to:
    o=1280;
    u=1024;
and it worked like a charm.
    Cheers!

  • What does this error message mean? Keynote to html to Homepage

Trying to "add page" in homepage of my Keynote 3 exported html slideshow. However, after various attempts I keep getting this error from the .Mac server
HomePage found the following issues with the HTML page you chose. Please fix these issues and try again: The "< BODY ... " tag is not closed properly with a matching ">".
Is this a known issue? What does it mean? Can I go into the code window and fix it? If yes, how?
    Thank you,
    -todd

OK, I'll try: it means that there's a missing directory record; that is, there's an item in the directory pointing to a record that doesn't exist. What else can I tell you? All such errors need repairing.

  • Keynote theme as iweb template??

I think I read somewhere that keynote pages could be used as an iweb page.
Anyone heard of this or have examples?

You can output a Keynote file AS html (which you'd publish manually and point an iWeb link to it), but as far as using it "directly" as an iWeb page, I don't think so.
BUT, since the graphics can be copy/pasted from one to the other, I could see using Keynote to layout a website and copying images shapes and everything into an appropriate width (to match the presentation) page.

  • Export html presentation to wordpress

Does anybody have a sugestion on how can I export a Keynote presentation as HTML and embend it on a page on my Wordpress Website ?

    Hi,
According to your description, I think your problem is more related with IE develop problem, it would be better to provide your problem at Internet Explorer Dev Center:

  • Audio in widgets - update

I am using Hype to build html5 widgets.  So far I have been unable to play audio within the widget.  The Hype people have been very helpful, but so far no joy.
Interested folks might like to read the thread at http://hype.assistly.com/customer/portal/questions/179961-audio-via-javascript-t o-be-used-in-a-widget-bound-for-ibooks-author?new=179961
Bottom line is, so far, no audio inside a widget.
You CAN do it via a Keynote presentation.
In my case I'm demonstrating different types of noise (white, pink, brown, grey, blue) and the presentation needs to trigger graphical changes (smartbuilds in Keynote, timelines in Hype) and audio.  I can link a graphical change on a "quasi button" to play the sound (sound "build" is play spund WITH graphic change) but it can only be played once - the next click will change slides - keynote is designed to be linear.
BTW, when you export a keynote file as html, (which I am guessing happens when you import a keynote presentation to iBooks Author) the sound file is converted to .m4v, but if you put that "audio-only-movie" in a hype widget, it is not accepted by Author.....

    Welcome to our community, Judy.
Note that simply acquiring Soundbooth won't do the trick for the mass update. Mukul said this was only possible if you purchased and installed the eLearning Suite. If you just install Soundbooth, Captivate will still be unaware of it and won't work in the manner you are seeking. But you will be able to use it to edit audio clips you export from Captivate.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to connect to a powerpoint projector

I've created my first presentation in Keynote and tried to show it from my laptop. The projector did not recognize my computer. I exported the Keynote file into powerpoint but the projector still did not recognize the computer. The projector had several ways to connect to my MacBook but only one of them could connect at both ends. It was a cable with a USB connector on one end and a small metal connector on the other end which fit into a spot n the projector. But nothing happened.
I finally put the pp presentation on a flash drive and borrowed someone's PC. That worked. But I'd prefer to use my MacBook. Any advice?

Macmost now has tutorials on this subject - which are always great http://macmost.com/keynote-presenter-display.html

  • Appleworks vs iWork

We recently switched from our pc to a MacBook and love it so far. My wife and I have a few projects to work on and I'm not sure what the best mac applications might be for the job. The projects include updating my resume and my wife needs to create some spreadsheets. It seems that Appleworks can do this but it doesn't look like this is the best long term solution. iWork looks like it can do the word processing piece but I didn't see anything about spreadsheets. Did I miss it? I'd appreciate some thoughts on which option is better? Office for mac is a little pricey... Thanks

There is some spreadsheet functionality in iWork '06, but it isn't really advanced. See http://www.apple.com/iwork/keynote/features/tables.html for details.
Which one is more recommendable... well, AppleWorks compared to iWork is still more professional, even it is years old and unfortunately seems no longer being updated by Apple.
However it requires significantly more time to get familiar with, it has many "hidden" features you aren't aware of the first time (at least this was my experience).
And iWork is more "colorful" and its user interface looks more friendly, while AppleWorks' layout remembers more to OS 9
Beside these two, there are also other products to consider: Microsoft Office (not at the latest release as far as I know and as you stated quite overpriced) and OpenOffice, see http://download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/index.html for details.
Note that OpenOffice requires X11 being installed on your computer. You can do so from your OS CD/DVD, it may be not installed by default however.
There also may be other office products as well when you search the "Made4Mac" catalogue on Apple's site.

  • How can I add an audio file to each slide when I export to HTML Keynote 6.2

How can I add an audio file to each slide when I export to HTML Keynote 6.2

  • Export Html in Keynote does not include hyperlinks when exported as HTML

I created a new keynote doc, and new page
    added an simple image
added a link > to my image using the hyperlink option
the preview section shows the link and i am able to click the link that takes me to the domain or subdomain added.
the problem is when i export it to html that the links does not work
i upload the link to a server and still the link added does not work
    anyone had the same experience.
    Please advise,
would be great to get some light shed on htis matter
    thx in advance

Same problem - but thanks for the idea. It's curious that when I use the touch text tool to change the properties, Acrobat "knows" the correct characters. I can select the characters, change the font, change it back to the original font and all is OK. I though Acrobat used some Illustrator libraries to do the touch up, but i I open the PDF in Illustrator, the bad characters get rendered as object - not text.
I guess it's time find a way to easily avoid the dfonts. Problem is dfonts show up as TrueType in the font selection menu. The only way I know to see for sure that it is a dfont is to look at its extension in finder.
I'm not real keen on using dfonts - I was archiving some old InDesign files as PDFs when I ran across the problem. It's kind of a pain to have to chase the font types/conversions through so many layers. Sigh.

  • Keynote hyperlinks don't work after exporting to html

I'm working with Keynote in iWorks '08 on an iMac running OS 10.5.2. My hyperlinks (graphic and text) work perfectly running Keynote as a slide presentation, but not when I export it to an html format. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Jeff
PS: The hyperlinks do work after exporting in flash or pdf format, but our webmaster says I can't use those formats due to compliance issues.

I noticed this as well. What I realized is that Keynote seems to just export the slide as a .jpg with a an .html file referencing the .jpg image. So in essence it is not creating an .html file of the slides contents but rather a reference to a picture of the slide. I haven't tried but maybe "send to" iweb and then "publishing to folder" will give you what you need. Not sure.

  • Now, how do I exlude navigation controls in the HTMl export in Keynote

In older version of Keynote there was an option when exporting to HTML that was "Include navigation controls". If I unchecked they were gone. Now that option is gone and I can't figure out how to remove the Navigation controls from the bottom of the bottom of the webpage. I tried modifying the "hud" div in the KeynoteDHTMLPlayer.css file as other forum posts suggest, but it seems to do nothing. I really need that thing gone. HELP!

There are no navigation controls in HTML exportfrom Keynote 6.2.
If a video is in the presentation, QuickTime controls will show when the cursor is on top of the video.

  • Can we import/ embed HTML objects in a keynote presentation?

    Hi,
I am using FusionCharts to create rich and dynamic charting for my presentation. FusionCharts is based on a Javascript liberary, can I import the generated charts as HTML objects in Keynote? If yes, how?
    Thanks

Unfortunately, that's not possible with the current version of Keynote.
