Keynote 6 QuickTime issues

I Have built a slideshow of photos and music and would like to convert to QuickTime but when I do the music and the slides/photos do not stay in sync.
How do I fix.

So I'll continue with Keynote 5 running on Mac OSX 10.8 (or as I am reluctantly coming to think of it, the "Steve Jobs is still alive" configuration).
Other than not downgrading to Mac OSX 10.9 Mavericks and Keynote 6, it seems I'll need to add warnings for the benefit of those whose have and want to use my Interactive Quicktime files (exported from Keynote 5) that they need to download and install Quicktime 7.
Perhaps even this game-saving kludge will be taken from us with Yosemite. Which would leave Windows users with a decisive advantage over "up-to-date" Mac users in the use of Interactive QuickTime files exported from Keynote 5.

  • The Keynote/Quicktime bug which prevents podcast exports from Keynote

I too have been stymied by the bug which prevents export of .mov files out of Keynote when the presentation contains builds. I spent this weekend recording lectures which I would normally give to medical undergraduates in person but for which I will be away so have to prepare substitute podcasts. I have done this in the past very successfully. This weekend I recorded the audio for the lectures in Keynote and all worked as it should when I played them back within Keynote. The first lecture I exported successfully to a .mov file but this presentation was short and didn't contain animations. The next two lectures would not export, the computer often spent many minutes saying it was exporting but would then produce an error message saying that it could not be completed because either there was not enough memory or the file was the wrong format. I tried at different resolutions, shorter presentations etc. This was all very frustrating because last year I had successfully done the same thing with highly animated presentations.
Today I tried it on my office computer which is a recent 24" iMac with lots of memory and a powerful processor but the problem remained. It was then that I consulted the forums and found page upon page of people with a similar problem and lots of supposed fixes including reverting to earlier versions of Quicktime etc.
I am in a similar position to many other posters in that I have to produce these teaching materials by the end of this week and so cannot wait for Apple to produce updates that will fix these issues.
Some posters recommended the software Screenflow as a solution and I am posting this message to confirm this does provide a good solution. Obviously we shouldn't have to pay $99 to get round a problem that Apple has created from a system that previously worked effortlessly and seamlessly but if you are in a similar position to me then this solution will work. You simply take your Keynote presentation with audio commentary and run it whilst Screenflow is recording in the background and set Screenflow to record the computer audio. This produces a file that can then be exported into a number of different video formats optimised for different viewing platforms (e.g. iPod, iPhone, computer screen). It took 5 minutes to install the software and 5 minutes to learn how to use it. The transitions between slides and the animations within slides are all very smooth and the video and audio is perfectly synchronised.
Screenflow would also be useful in other contexts such as recording video tutorials to teach students how to use software programmes, e.g. aspects of Photoshop, so it will have uses which the Keynote/Quicktime combination couldn't deal with but I still feel aggrieved that I have had to spend $99 on software which I didn't need a few months ago.

I too wasted hours this weekend trying to export narrated KN files, which worked flawlessly last spring semester. I too am needing to get these narrated KN files published for my college students by the end of this week. Perhaps purchasing QuickTime Pro and pasting the audio file works, but that still does not solve the problem of exporting to iPod or YouTube, which continues to give a "not enough disk space" error message regardless of how small or large my presentation is (plenty of GBs on my computer too). Also, when I export to Flash, the movie works, but converting the Flash file results in error messages (saying the file is corrupt. I have tried this many times with new KN presentations).
Apple needs to fix this. I bought iWork'08 specifically for KN's exporting capabilities, otherwise I might as well have just stuck with PPT. I'd like to believe that Apple is working on the issue and that we will not be forced to purchase yet more software. In either case, any information by Apple clarifying this dilemma would be very helpful to and appreciated by all of us. Apple, will this be fixed in the future or should we buy new software?

  • ITunes skipping during audio while browsing the web - Quicktime issue?

iTunes 11.1.2 for Win 7 is skipping during playback of audio when I am browsing the web.  Is this a Quicktime issue?  I tried changing the audio output device latency but it didn't do anything different as far as skipping goes.  Any suggestions?

Actually, that doesn't work either.  Here's the solution that is working consistently:
Go to iTunes, and Preferences > Playback tab > Play Audio Using > Windows Audio Session instead of Direct Sound.  There we go, that works!!

  • Embedded Quicktime Issue

I know someone else had a similar quicktime issue, but I
didn't want to hijack their thread since mine is a little
    different.
My QT videos work, they are embedded on page and play fine,
the exception being they do not autostart as they should.
The QT files were exported with the fast start option
enabled. When the page loads, you can hear the video playing, but
the screens black until you click on it or press enter as notified
by the alert. I thought you could prevent this using the

Can someone look at this page and let me know what I am doing

Works fine for me in Win FF 2.0006 with QT browser plug-in

  • Problem Converting Keynote Quicktime to WMV with Flip4Mac

    HI All
I can see that perhaps one other person may have had this issue. I have a continuous presentation exported from Ketnote as a Quicktime Movie. This plays from end to end without a hitch.
I am using Flip4Mac to convert to WMV, something I have done on many occasions with other QT files without issue (not from Keynote)
The resulting file only exports to the first transition in the Keynote presentation.
I have made the quicktime continuous (so it does not stop at slide changes) I have tried un-checking the sprite track option.
Pretty much every combination but it still always only exports to the first transition.
Any clues ? What am I missing ?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi
yes it does however I have been messing around over the weekend and have got some of the way to solving this.
Sorry its a bit long and convoluted but here goes.
I extracted the video and audio tracks as suggested below and made a new flattened movie.
I then found a utility to remove all the chapter markers from Ecamm Network.
This removed every chapter (slide) marker.
I then re-saved and made a WMV from that file. It exported until the last transition and stopped !! ( I checked with the orig file)
So I then converted the end section to WMV and joined the 2 WMV files together in Quicktime Pro.
This then played happily from end to end.
BUT you cant then save that as a WMV ! Quicktime exports it again as a .mov
So I thought that .mov must work if I convert that to wmv but no, stops in the exact same place.
There is no sprite track no chapters but there must be some other metadata that is upsetting Flip4Mac
    Anyway closer than I was.
Cant import to FCP or use DV as despite setting the frame rate to 25 in Keynote it actually exports at 22 so any 'video' frame rates make the animation very jerky as you would expect.
thanks for you help though everyone
    Neil

  • Export KeyNote -QuickTime

    Hello!
Have a problem: I need to export my presentation to show it on PC. Chose QickTime, but I need to control slides during the presentation. And the only opportunity to export is video file. And I need to click from slide to slide. How can I do that?
    Thanks a lot to everyone!

anything that plays .mov files other than Keynote just zipped through the slides as though they were each as single frame of a very short video
Previous versions of Keynote had an export to Quicktime with Manual Advance, where the viewer could advance through the slideshow by clicking the mouse or Space bar on the keyboard.
If this did not work for you there was an issue with your system as this worked correctly for most users.

  • ITunes wont open - Quicktime issue

Ive tryed to reinstall itunes at least half a dozen times now and nothing will fix this issue. If i try to open itunes, the process (in task manager) starts but gets to about 38000K then nothing, never opens no matter how long i wait. Im unable to end this process either, so it just sits there taking up memory. Following the advice of someone else in another thread i tryed changing the compatability of quicktime and itunes to windows 2000 and this gave me the error message that "quicktime is required to run itunes" despite the fact that i do have it installed. Reinstalling both itunes and quicktime have no effect on the problem, does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello BaconSquishy.
First thing I would do is turn compatibility mode off if you have it on for iTunes and Quicktime. As this will not really fix anything except under rare and special conditions.
Next thing I would do is Basic uninstall in the following order. And installation in the following order. If this does not work proceed to last link below for assistance.
Uninstall the following Apple Applications in the following order.
Launch Control Panel and open Add/Remove Programs or Programs and features if you have Vista.
    -Apple Mobile Device Support
    -Apple Software Update
    -Bonjour
-Windows iPod Updater (Name might be different but look for anything with the word iPod)
    -MobileME Control Panel
    -Quicktime
    -iTunes
    *Now reboot the computer
-Download and install Quicktime Standalone. There will be 2 options. Click the Quicktime Standalone
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
-Download and install iTunes once Quicktime is installed
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
*Launch iTunes. Depending on the speed of your machine. Give it 4 min tops to load. Should not take that long. Pay close attention to fire wall alert messages as they might be looking for approval to launch the App.
*If you still can not launch it check the link below

  • CS6 dyamiclinkmanager.exe and QuickTime issues

First, I'm on a Windows 7 service pack 1 machine, i7-4930k 3.4 GHz with 32 GB RAM. Motherboard is an ASUS P9X79LE. GPU is an Nvidia GTX 770. I just installed QuickTime 7.7.5.
I've recently installed Production Premium CS6. Previously, I was successfully using Production Premium CS5 on the same machine but with a different motherboard and processor: ASUS P6T and i7-960.
Anyway, I installed CS6. Tried to open Premiere, but the program would always hang up when it reached "export quicktime host."
AE would hang up on "Initializing Media Core."
Encore would hang up on "loading importer quicktime."
    1. To address the Premiere issue, here's what I tried:
    a) As per directions from an Adobe support page, I allowed connections in my firewall for:
    AfterFX.exe
    Adobe QT32 Server.exe
    dynamiclinkmanager.exe
    PProHeadless.exe
    This had no effect.
    b) I then moved the Adobe QT32 Server.exe file from the "32" folder into another folder. Premiere then loaded correctly.
    2. Since (b) worked for Premiere, I tried the same technique with the QT32 Server.exe files in the "32" folders in AE and Encore.
Encore now loads properly. BUT after AE loads I get a message saying that QuickTime is not installed on the system. QT is proving problematic. Not only is it not recognized by AE, but I can't open QT. For some reason it seems incompatible with my Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1. I changed the compatibility settings for QT to XP Service Pack 2 and the software opened when I clicked on the icon. However, QT is still not recognized by AE.
Note: I found earlier in my investigations that when I ended the dynamiclinkmanager.exe *32 process, each of the programs would open.
    So:
Any suggestions as to how to get AE to recognize QT?
Is ending the dynamiclinkmanager.exe process a good idea? Will this disable dynamic link for Premiere and AE?
I'm beginning to pine for my old CS5 days, when everything worked fine. Thanks.

  • Myriad Quicktime Issues - QT 7.5 and Mac OS 10.3.9 - RTSP, VLC, etc...

Alright, first I should describe the set-up. I have a Clamshell G3 300 running 10.3.9 on 320MB ram, accessing the INet via Airport. Overall, it runs surprisingly well. However, I've had a devil of a time getting video to load or display on QT 7.5. As I'm sure you are all well aware, an old G3 with a 4mb VRAM card simply isn't going to be competent with Flash. However (and I've used this trick on P3 Windows machines), m.youtube.com uses 240p and 360p 3gp files, which the ibook can handle without problem... when it actually gets them via RTSP. That has been very rare. I've gotten the below difficulties at home (WEP) and at school (unsecured).
The main problem I am having is: when I load a video (and I've tried many dozens of them in both normal and high-definition format) from m.youtube.com and my browser (I've tried this with Opera 10.10, Opera 9.64, Camino 1.6.11 and G3 Optimized Camino 1.6.11, Safari 1.3.2, and Firefox 2.0.20) attempts to open the stream, I get one of several errors. No one error seems to happen any more often than the others, and once in a blue moon, I do actually get the video (or the audio from the video), but that can't be more than 1 in 20, and is usually ONLY the first video loaded in a session. Sometimes, however, the first video does not even load after a reboot.
    1. Quicktime says "configuring..." and then says "Bad Request"
    2. Quicktime says "connecting..." and then says "Disconnected"
    3. Quicktime says "reading media (countdown in s)" and then nothing happens.
    4. Quicktime says "reading media (countdown in s)" and then it begins buffering and nothing happens.
    5. Quicktime says "reading media (countdown in s)" and then begins buffering and then an approproate timebar starts indicating playback but with no video or sound.
    6. Same as #5, except only sound plays.
    7. Reloading a video will often times result in the time clicking away with no sound or video.
    8. Quicktime says "Buffering (countdown in s)" and then begins playing only audio.
    9. Quicktime says "Buffering (countdown in s" and then plays blank media, like in #5-7.
I'm totally perplexed by this behavior. I tried 7.4.1 before this, and 6.5.2 before that, and had some problems, though I didn't stick with either long enough to really test out their relative merits, because I'd prefer to have the most updated and stable version my OS can handle. I even deleted every conceivable QT related file and reinstalled once without any change in the situation.
I'm also having a (potentially) unrelated problem. When I try to play files with VLC 0.8.6(any of the iterations, up through , have been tried), I run into an error message: QT does not support any appropriate chroma. While this issue does not pop up in VLC 0.8.4 (which supports fewer formats), part of me suspects some problem with my QT installation is to blame for this problem. And, yes, I've noticed that my particular error message with VLC is NOT unheard of, but most there blame problematic QT installs or something with QT. Given my extreme rtsp problems, I'm inclined to agree.
Any help would be much appreciated, and sorry for the length - just wanted to be detailed. QTKirk, come and save me!

Thanks for that. That site must have changed how they code and deliver video over the last year, because I was able to stream it on old comps before using VLC and/or QT. However, I installed RealPlayer 10 yesterday (despite the awful memories of RP that most computer users rightfully have) and the site now works flawlessly with pretty decent quality and playback. So, all is well again. And, using an old version of mplayer (the port no longer being developed, from 2004 or 2005) instead of VLC, I'm now able to play 640p horizontal xvids smoothly!
To your last point, I definitely disagree. I have had brand new laptops over the last 5 years, and I'm disavowing them. I'm very utilitarian, and I feel it is wasteful to purchase new laptops when most of the development is in artificially wringing out 20-40% profit margins by dint of planned obsolescence (like Tiger "requiring" firewire for installation, or Snow Leopard making G5s obsolete only 2 years after they were being sold new). I feel like I'm wasting the labor and human cost involved in researching, designing, manufacturing, and promoting top-of-the-line computers. Considering what most users need, computers today are grossly overpowered, and it would have been far more environmentally and socially responsible to develop simpler and more efficient applications for slower hardware than to push consumers into a frenzy that in no way benefits them. Using a G3 optimized port of Camino (and Opera for other tasks), Appleworks 6.2.9, etc..., this 6/7th generation processor is easily capable of handling what 80-90% of users would ever need. The only things that injure it's usefulness are arbitrary and artificial - like docX format and the huge amount of AJAX clutter slowing web access for all parties. Their benefit is anywhere from negligble to non-existent, but their cost is high to consumers.
Put another way: I'm recycling in a very responsible way by keeping this computer alive, and I don't feel like I'm making any real sacrifice by doing so. Win-win!

  • Quicktime issue

I went to purchase a movie last night on iTunes and was informed I needed to upgrade quicktime. I go through the process and when I restart my computer, iTunes will not open. It says I need to repair or reinstall quicktime. I reinstall it, restart the computer again, and get the same message. I do store iTunes on a seperate hard drive from the laptop and installed it on the hard drive, AND laptop, and still get the same answer. Any suggestions would be helpful since I cannot open iTunes at all now.

  • QuickTime issues?

I have two problems on my hands that seem to be related after troubleshooting for months now. These are both post-Mountain Lion Upgrade.
There seems to be some type of issue related to QuickTime. Let me try to explain.
Issue #1 - Screenium capture software - I used previous versions just fine with no problems. Now, with their new version I am unable to export. I reported the precise error to the developer and they responded that it was related to QuickTime and that I should delete anything related to Flip4Mac and Perian as they are know to cause conflicts. I did that and no luck still. Something is still causing the issue and I believe it could be related to #2
Issue #2 - Adobe Bridge - I would use this to preview animation presets and video effects just fine until the OS update. There is a "preview" pane that displays the video. I can press play and the time indicator moves and it thinks it is playing the file preview, but there is no video. And oddly, sometimes it will randomly display a frame of the video while not being played. But I cannot even replicate that.
Upon researching this months ago I came across some documentation indicating the problem is related to QuickTime.
    I have....
Reinstalled all Adobe products several times
    Reinstalled Screenium
Reinstalled QuickTime several times (but this is just the Player I believe)
    Deleted preference files
Repaired disk permissions (there always seems to be a lot, even if I just did it??????????)
So, maybe it is QuickTime, or maybe not. I am hoping someone will be able to help me finish this troubleshooting. Thanks a bunch.

  • Windows will not show Keynote "Quicktime"

One of my main reasons for getting iWork 08 was Keynote. I was even happier when I found out it would export to Quicktime. So I sorted a powerpoint out and Keynoted it. All went well. I even guessed some things it should do - and it did!
Export to QT and all was well.
Then it came to playing it at work. "Quicktime needs a component that is not available on the server" or something. That's it. A fail at the first hurdle. I can't install software on the work PC and it's running QT 6.5.???? The update says it's fuly up to date. So why didn't it work?
Is there a version of QT that runs off a USB drive (thumb or "proper")?
I tried VLC but it justs runs straight through with no pauses.
I need to get it working. Not that Powerpoint will not do something like it. It just won't look as good!
    Thanks

There's a site which will convert videos without having to download software to do it...
    http://zamzar.com
...you could try converting from .mov to .wmv (Although I don't know whether it will also run straight through with no pauses.)
An alternative to a USB drive is to put your .mov file on an iPod and connect it to a projector or TV...

...I know, weird suggestions, but anyway.

  • Lion quicktime issues

I have installed OS X Lion and noticed 2 issues with Quicktime.
    1) If I quit Quicktime with cmd+q, the next time I open Quicktime my previous video is loaded again together with the new opened video. Only clicking the close button will prevent the video from re-opening itself on the next Quicktime launch.
    2) When switching to full screen mode with cmd+f the video is enlarged on the screen of my macbook and not the external screen the Quicktime windows was dragged in.
Both of these issues used to be different in the previous version, I do not see the logic behind these changes. Is there an option that can change these behaviour issues?

I noticed the same problem.  Did you use a Terminal command back in Snow Leopard to disable the rounded corners in QuickTime X?  I had done that, and returning it to the default fixed the unresposive controls.  Try copying and pasting the following into Terminal (without the quotes) and pressing Return:
    "defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGCinematicWindowDebugForceNoRoundedCorners 0".

  • Exporting Movies as Quicktime Issue

I've been having major issues with exporting animations from Flash CS4 as Quicktime movies with and alpha channel.  I seem to always get some kind of artifacts showing up.  Basically, it looks like chunks of the graphics remain in place for a few frames and then disappear. I am exporting as Animation at 100% quality... and I work on a Mac.  Has anyone encountered this issue and found a way to solve it?  Please see the attached file for reference.
    thanks

One more thing to add: when I move the clip to the correct place in the timeline (in this case it's at 16:20:30;00) the exported clip does not start on the same frame that it was set in the original sequence. I was off by a little over a second so I repositioned it in the original sequence and exported again. The second export had the correct starting frame but the last frame was off by over 3 seconds.
    Any ideas?

  • Keynote Quicktime conversion to Flash with Sorenson Squeeze

I converted a Keynote file to Quicktime, then used Sorenson for conversion to Flash. This was for downloading to a website which has a flash insert on the admin panel. The conversion went great, but it won't recongize the Flash file, although it plays fine in a flash player. I changed the extension from .sqz to .swf. It imported, but then wouldn't play. Am I missing a step to make sure a squeeze file is swf? I realize this may be slightly off the keynote beam, but I want to have the transitions which the flash converter built in doesn't have. Thanks for any help.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Thanks for taking the time. I have been away. I squeezed a QT file, converted it to flash; it played in a flash player, but when I wanted to upload the file, the webserver wouldnt accept it; and it always registers as a sqz file, instead of swf. I changed the extension, but that made no difference. I will try dropping it into safari and see if that works. (I am using Sorenson because Keynote export to flash does not allow transitions etc.)
I also tried modifying file name in Sorenson. Maybe its a webserver problem. (I find Quicktime actually produces smaller files and that ftping it to the server with a link works best, but flash has more browsers.)
