Keynote and PDF Export

Exporting Keynote presentation in PDF via email is a great feature that has been awaited by potential business users.
However, PDF exports from ipad do not seems to be supported by acrobat especially on PCs/windows system. Font conversion seems corrupted and text appears with bullets.
Any hint on how to send keynote presentation converted in pdf properly ?
Many thx

I also ran into a bug with PDF export today. The PDF displayed properly on my mac, but when viewed on other laptops (and when uploaded to Scribd), the text was missing. :/
Workaround was to export the keynote file to my mac, then use the desktop keynote app to re-export as PDF.

    Hello all,
how can I make some of my columns which are visible in the report, not visible in the CSV and PDF exports. And how can I customize the width of the PDF export columns. In the normal reports it is possible in the print report settings but here I don't see such option.

  • Lightroom 5 book module trims pixels on JPEG and PDF export

I'm making a 12x12" book and want to export at 250dpi.  I'm expecting my pages to be square and exactly 3000x3000 pixles.  When I export to JPEG or PDF the pages are not square and JPEGs are 2968 x 3000.
I've seen the same question asked regarding LR4.  It appears to not have been fixed or addressed in LR5.
I'm not using Blurb to create books which I understand is the publisher that requires these odd sized pages and why LR exports pages this way.  Oddly, there is a special export for Blurb books; I wouldn't think that the generic JPEG and PDF exports should follow the Blurb standard.  Idealy, I want my JPEG exports to be two-page spreads at 6000 x 3000 pixels.  I can stitch together two pages in Photoshop easily enough, but not if the pages are not the correct size to begin with.
For now, I'll use LR5 to mock up a book and then re-create the whole thing manually in PS, which is really sad and such a waste of time given that LR is so close to being able to export exactly what I want.
Would love to see this fixed in an update soon.

These are both bugs that have been fixed since the LR4 beta. Thanks for bringing them up, though.

  • Bounding box and pdf export

    Hi all,
I'm using Illustrator CS4 and I have interest in the bounding box of a figure when I export it as a pdf. I'm using the crop area tool (also called ArtBoard, ToolShift+O) to set-up by hand the bounding box and then export the figure as a pdf. The problem is that I can observe spurious small white margins in the exported pdf. It seems that the bounding box is not perfectly set-up. Are you aware of this problem? Is there a work-around?
    Thank you

I don't think there is per se any problem nor is AI doing anything wrong. Sounds like your bog standard antialiasing/ transparency blending, if elements are not placed and shaped in such a way that their rasterized output perfectly coincides with whole pixels plus the usual issues with trapping, overprint etc., which Acrobat will obey based on its own settings and the properties defined in your AI document and which particularly become relevant if blending modes, partial opacity and raster effects are involved. You need to look into those things more than anything else and find the right combination of settings...

  • Best way to get SharePoint workflow to trigger InDesign XML refresh and PDF export?

What is the best way to get a SharePoint workflow to trigger the refresh of an XML datasource within an InDesign document, and generate a PDF export? The datasource would be hosted by SharePoint.
    Would InDesign Server be required?

My understanding of the license is that Adobe requires you to use InDesign Server for this sort of thing.
But the implementation is probably the same either way. Periodically poll, or find some way to trigger it.

  • The gallery widget and PDF export etc

    Hi all,
I'm new to iBA so I have a lot of questions but I start with only two of them.
I made a Photo portfolio type of iBook, using mainly the gallery widget after the intro chapters.
Q1. Well, took some time to put it all together but now I'm close to finnish it, so I thought I had to preview how it looked as a PDF, and exported it.
Quite surpricing that only the the first image on all pages with the gallery widget was present? Is that how it should be?
I who thought the gallery widget navigations "buttons" would be converted to a link to the next image and that should get links for previous and next image and so fort, nutbut it didnt :-/
Ok I can make pages for all images, but 700-800 pages for just them doesn't seem smooth IMHO :-)
Q2. The gallery widget doesnt seem very flexable to handle both landscape and portright images att the same time, so I ended up making 2 pages for each gallery, one for landscape and one for portright mode images. What am I missing here?
    Wishlist for iBA:
    1. Make the gallery widget work for PDF export.
    2. Make the gallery widget flexible to auto-handle landscape and portraight images. (In runtime, in landskape mode of the iPad, the landscape images are shown as much as possible, and the portright ones fit in hight with perhaps a lightgray (customable?) background on the sides, and vise versa when held in portright mode.)
    /Cekari

1.) Widgets by design require a way to interact - PDFs are just 'readable', so naturally the interaction can't be used and the first image is akin to a placeholder showing where the widget is laid out. In iBA's case, I think the PDF is most useful for proofing, demo, etc. - if a valid preview is desired, either publish as preview (still limited for some examples) or share as an .ibooks file via iTunes.
2.) Layout your widgets in landscape, edit content in portrait and of course test in both. In those cases where you need a bit more control, bifurcate.
Thanks for your wishlist: As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • APEX 3.0: Region caching and PDF Export

    Hi,
there was some comment in the APEX 3.0 Feedback Application that if a region has activated the new "Caching" settings, the Flash Chart data, PDF Export and CSV Export get also cached.
That seems to work fine for the Flash Charts, they display the cached data, but the new PDF Export and the CVS Export always requery the data.

    Hi Patrick,
That is correct, PDF and CSV exports are not cached. I don't know why this was stated differently in the feedback application.

  • Sp3 and pdf export with diadem

    Dear all;
We use Diadem 11 with windows XP SP2, and we use the functions PDF and Html Export . After upgrading from pack 2 to windows xp pack 3 we could no longer use these functions. We now the recieve error message : Access Violation r The printer is not ready ...
We repaired DiAdem, and checked if the pdf printer converter exists and it is there .
    Any ideas !!!

That might or might not work. Let's try closing ID again, log in withthe old user, then delet the files, if they exist, inthe list you'll find at Adobe Forums: InDesign crashes at startup
Your user library is hidden in 10.8, so if yo don't kow how to show those files, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
Now restart ID using the Keyboard shortcut to remove the prefs (hold down Cmd + Control + Shift + Opt keys as soon as you launch ID and choose Yes when asked if you want to replace the prefs. If you don't see the confirmation message, you weren't fast enough, so you need to try again).

  • Fonts jagged in InDesign and PDF export

I've been troubleshooting this issue for days, with no success. I'm using IDCS6 on a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion, and it probably happens with all fonts, but I've noticed it specifically with "Din mittelschrift" at a large pt. size and 100% magnification. It wouldn't be a terrible thing, since it's not noticeable in most of the document, but I'm trying to create a catalog of sorts (as a series of 2-page spreads) and the brand's name on the cover has the most obnoxiously rough edges - I can't send the PDF off to anyone in this condition.
I'm an experienced computer user but an InDesign novice, so I've been trying various things I've found online that successfully solved others' problems, without having a very clear idea of what many things in ID do. Reading a few Adobe tutorials didn't enable me to fix things, either.
I've seen others post that jagged-looking fonts can clear up when exported to a PDF, but that didn't work. When I export to a PDF, interactive or not, it appears jagged at 100% - though strangely enough, at 300% it looks fine.
I checked my ID display settings. It's jagged even at High Quality - and display settings in InDesign wouldn't affect the PDF, anyway.
I made sure the font was installed in the proper place (Library/Fonts), cleared my font cache, and restarted the computer.
I tried converting the text to outlines in InDesign.
I tried setting the opacity to 99.9%.
I changed the color of the text to a grey (240/240/240) to reduce the contrast in case that was an issue.
The rest of the document appears fine in InDesign and as a PDF. No extreme jagged edges or low-quality appearance.
Right now the document is intended to only be viewed on a screen, but since I'm unsure if I'll ever be asked to prepare it for printing I created it using ID's print layout. I've been avoiding converting it to a web layout because that would mean hours of reformatting, and I figure that fonts should render with smooth edges no matter what the layout is set as.
I think I've done more than what's listed above, but forgotten the specifics.
I'll try anything short of destroying the catalog and starting over.
    Thank you!

Can you take a screenshot of what this looks like and post it?
Also, I've noticed that sometimes weird crap will show up when you view something in Acrobat. Like you can see a line between the font and the stroke, but when you zoom way in, it looks fine. It will print fine as well. Just a display issue. Can you print it? When you print it does it look like crap?

  • Default zoom level in ppt and pdf export- OBIEE 11.1.5

    Hi All,
When I download my report in PPT format, the default zoom level is 34%, and similarly when downloaded to PDF the default zoom level is 64%. Is there an option to set the default zoom level to 100%, when exporting in any of the formats available.
    Thanks !!
    Rgds,
    Shruti

I did see the export to excel links, but when the Analysis Pivot Table is exported to Excel, it's not an "Excel Pivot Table". It's a simple static excel spreadsheet.
If you export a Cross-tab worksheet in Discoverer, you will get:
    – a base sheet which contains all the data in table format
    – a sheet containing the pivot table
    – a static sheet
It's the Pivot Table generated automatically by Discoverer that I am looking for in the Export from OBIEE Analysis.

  • ID file and PDF export problem

    hi,
    hope someone can help me...
i created a file in ID. you can see the specs here:
    http://cpso2.gallaudet.edu/cpso/brian/mw-bleed.jpg
in the above image, you can see the bleed margin, and i made sure everything goes fully into the bleed.
so then i sent the export (PDF) to the printer. see it here:
    http://cpso2.gallaudet.edu/cpso/brian/youth_savedate_final.pdf
so here i am excited thinking i did this right. then the prrpress department comes back and tells me the following:
"" I checked with my prepress dept. and they are telling me that the Document Setup that you are in will allow you to set your bleeds BUT will not hold the bleeds. You need to export and that will give you options to set bleeds. (This is a bit greek to me so if you have a problem, let me know and I will get her to converse directly with you).""
I thought I did this right. Can someone tell me what I did wrong in export and how to remedy the problem?
thanks - mike, the deaf guy.

    That's better.
It makes sense, really; you might want to send a pdf of the file to
the printers, who needs the bleed, and another of the same file to a
colleague, who wouldn't thank you for all that extra stuff round the
edges if he doesn't realize he can hide it in his reader. You
wouldn't want the bleed and slug bits to show if you posted an
'optimized for web' pdf on the web or emailed it to someone
interested in your courses. You can thus create different pdfs for
different purposes from the same .indd file.

  • Bleed Areas and PDF Export

I set my book up in indesign and have all the bleed areas marked out.  When i export to a pdf it comes out fine, but when i export to a pdf  using the documents bleed settings i get an issue.
On the two pages facing each other the inside edge of each page is  switched with the page next to it. so on each page i have a strip of the  image from the left page on the right page and vice versa.
What am i doing wrong? Indesign is pretty new to me and I havent been able to figure out what is causing this

There's no harm in that at all. As the image falls outside the crop area. IT should be trimmed off when printed anyway.
Usually the prepress will impose the file and it sort of sits in a container where the bleed wouldn't be visible on that edge anyway. And even if it is it's going into the spine. The chances of it appearing in the final printed piece is extremely slim.
However, you can combat this by File>Export>PDF and go to the Marks and Bleeds - untick the Link button for the bleed and change the inside bleed to 0.
Now you won't have any bleed on the inside pages.

  • Discrepency in "actual size" view and PDF export result

I am working with a document and am confused about the size when I export it as a PDF. When I export it and open it up, the size of the fonts is considerably larger than those in my document in "actual size" viewing mode. Also, the page sizes are also larger, about 60 percent larger.
Also, will the size of the PDF vary on different computers?
I am creating an ebook so I want it to open in a favorable size for everyone, if possible...
    Does someone have any guidelines?

What you're experiencing is just the magnification, or view settings.  If you export to an interactive PDF from CS5 you can control those upon export.  If you hover your mouse down the bottom left of the Adobe Reader or Acrobat window you will see the size of the PDF which will be the same as your Indesign document.  My advice would be to try different view settings and see how they affect the finished PDF, there are a lot of options available which it would take a long time to explain.  Also have a play with the layout.
You can also adjust these after export (for example in a Print PDF) with Acrobat, under File > Properties > Initial view and you then have the added option of making a navagation tab open by default too, which might be useful for your ebook.

  • Character spacing messes printing and PDF exporting

I'm having problems printing and exporting to PDF from Pages.
The problem is that when I'm using Character spacing (ie. -7%) they display different on screen, on paper and in PDF. They display right on the screen. But PDF and printing get messed up, the spacing is not right and it adds more space to the fonts.
    I'm using:
    Mac OS X 10.5.1
    Pages 3.0.1
    Thanks,
    Fannar

I was having the very same problem. I was trying to make a business card with my name centered and character spacing at 40%. The character spacing seemed to only work for the first character. When it came to print or export, the text had shifted left as if it were centered with the spacing applied.
Fear not! I found a solution. Instead of directly printing or exporting as a pdf, I chose to save as a PostScript file in the print dialog. I could then open this file in Preview and save as a pdf or print with the designed character spacing.
    File>Print>PDF>Save as PostScript..
This work flow also fixed some nasty degradation of smaller fonts.
