Keynote crashes when film clip is activated

I have used Keynote to make a presentation with slides and clips from a film. This has worked for the last year. However, I am trying to use the presentation these days and the slides work quite well but when I try to engage the clips, the whole application shuts down.
I need the presentation within the next week so any help would be appreciated. I used a PowerbookG4 and OS10.4.11

no pc. sorry.  My frustration comes from the fact that it used to run just
fine several updates ago, and i can not thing of what I have changed if
anything.  i felt that if i could just get to a dialog box I might spot a
setting problem. but it just come back "have run into a problem will file a
report with microsoft, close program"

  • Crashing when dragging clips into source box! "Premiere Pro has encountered an error."

Hi, I just installed the CS5 Premiere Pro software trial version and it keeps on crashing when I drag my imported clips into the source box?
    It says:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Please help b/c I would like to use this program for a project due Monday. Thank you so much!

@ Andrey V.: I tried that but it did not work. I still get the same error message. =(

  • Finder crashes when Preview column is active in list view

I've created a bootable system backup of OS X 10.10.1 on an external 1TB HD connected via firewire 800 to a 2011 iMac running OS 10.10.1.
I have had no problems with Yosemite's Finder on the iMac if I boot from the internal HD. I check to be sure which HD I've started from by having the Finder window show the Path Bar via a setting in the Finder's View menu.
The problems only appear when I boot from the external HD, then the Finder crashes when the Preview column is active in list view. I can force quit and restart the Finder via the Force Quit Applications (command-option-escape) tool. I can open files from within an open application but cannot open files by clicking on the file directly, as long as the Finder is set to Show the Preview column. I prefer to work in list view, so suggesting I use another view doesn't solve my problem.
Another strange issue is that I can boot from the external HD if I select that HD in System Preferences > Startup Disk but not if I hold down the option key and select that HD during start-up if the Preview column is active in list view. When I try to boot from the external HD by selecting that HD during start-up, instead the computer starts up from the internal HD.
I CAN boot from the external HD if I select the external HD during boot-up IF the Preview column is NOT active in list view.
Is there a way for me to reinstall the OS on the external HD only? I did create a bootable Yosemite installer jump drive when I installed Yosemite on the iMac originally.
I've run Disk Utility on the external HD from the files available on the Recovery HD to both verify the HD and repair disk permissions to no avail.

Open Terminal application (spotlight for it). If you don't have it, get it from the Apple Support site.
In the command-line window that appears, type in:
    <user>$ cd /Users/<user>/Library/Preferences
    <user>$ rm com.apple.finder.plist
    <user>$ ls com.apple.finder.plist
the system shouldn't return anything as the file should be gone
    <user>$
exit from Terminal - you may need to restart your system at this point to recreate the com.apple.finder.plist.
    Good luck -

  • Why is my keynote crashing when i try to view in the light table?

My Keynote presentation crashes when I try to view it in the light table view, and the whole system has to be restarted. The file is not huge, only 54 slides, mostly graphics and video plus a little bit of text. It is under 1GB in size, which I can usually manage without issue. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone know of a solution or a workaround? I'd be so grateful for any help. Thanks!

Try this maintenance routine which has solved quite a few issues:
    1
    Close all applications
    2
Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download
    3
    empty the trash
    4
shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    5
go to;   Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions
when this is completed restart the Mac normally
    6
Reinstall Keynote using the original discs or logging into the Mac App Store and installing from there.
Post back to let others know if this helped

  • Premiere Pro Crashes when Nudging Clip

Premiere Pro is crashing (spinning pinwheel forever... go for lunch...45-60min, come back, force quite, "PPro has encountered a serious error") during simple tasks such as "nudging" a clip in the timeline or clicking with the "razor" tool.  This is destroying my productivity, any help appreciated.  This is hapening on 2 different machines linking to the same set of media.  Full system details below.
All Media is ProRes422(LT) stored on a AFP share drive.  Both systems are setup with media cache files on the local drive, Murcury Playback Engine (CUDA).

    Scott

Hi Scott.  The reason I made those suggestions was because I had the same problem once.  Nudging certain clips or moving audio keyframes resulted in an instant repeatable crash.  This was because I imported the XML with audio automation from an FCP7 project.  Stripping the audio keyframes cleared up the crashing issue.  I just had to remix the whole short film.     And Adobe also volunteered that they were seeing the same problems with stabilzation data.
I haven't seen much corruption on ProRes.  My experience has mostly been with JPEGs and Long-GOP video.
I haven't done much cutting off a network; mostly just transcoding or exporting.  But, no crashing ensued.  However, you could rule that out by copying some of your footage locally, and see if you get the same crashing.
Before Corrupt Clip Finder, I had a "search and destroy" method for finding clip corruption.  This goes back to my Avid days.  The routine in the same:  start isolating or taking half your media off line, and see if it still crashes.  Keep taking footage off until the crashing stops.  That tells you the corruption was in the last batch you took offline.
You can use the "Make Offline" feature in Pr without having to physically move anything.  So, another thing you could try is to take all your media off line, and see if you get crashes by nudging clips.  If so, that would implicate the project, and not the media.

  • Keynote crashing when using the keyboard shortcut to play the presentation

This has happened twice to me now in the last two days. I haven't been using Keynote regularly, but will be giving more lectures at uni, so hope this is something that can be solved. Each time Keynote crashed, I had an unsaved Word document but when my macbook restarted, the word document was still there, and the keynote presentation was gone. Is there any way to auto-save keynote presentations, and no, I don't have a time capsule yet.
    Thanks, Derek

It is more of because when your keyboard shortcut is set to that, the command given to the computer is only to shutdown the default way, which Apple made it to reopen windows when logging back in. And when u said that it was a preference to reopening windows when logging back in, it is not a preference. It is more of a question whether u want to reopen when u are shutting down/restarting your computer.
I also have a similar problem, but it is not about the keyboard shortcuts. I want to create a program to help restart into bootcamp, but when I restart back into Mac OS, it helps reopen the windows.

  • Keynote crashes when opened

I purchased iWork 2.x some time ago, and attempted to update keynote and pages (someone sent me a 3.x keynote document, no backwards compatibility). Software Update allowed me to update to the newest versions, 3.0.1, then 3.0.2 for keynote, 2.0.2 for pages, but now both crash when launched. The crash.log files for both programs look like this:
    Command: Keynote
    Path: /Applications/iWork '06/Keynote.app/Contents/MacOS/Keynote
    Parent: WindowServer [60]
    Version: 3.0.2 (474.1)

Any thought for what to do? Regrettably, I don't have install disks, so a clean install is not feasible.

  • Keynote crashes when editing a slide

Keynote crashes every time I for example draw a square and touch it. I then have to start the program again to access ny presentation.

I just had the same problem on the iPad 2 & iOS 8.
I fixed it by making a new presentation in keynote for ipad, then going back and copying all of the slides from the old presentation and pasting them into the new one. Have been working with it for about an hour now without issue.
I'm curious, did you happen to upload a presentation that you made on your Mac to your iCloud disk instead of directly into the keynote (beta) app in iCloud? I ask because I haven't had this problem before, and today I used the disk rather than uploading directly to keynote like I usually do.
    Hope this helps!

  • Keynote crashes when choosing Profiles (HELP)!

When I choose print and select "Color Matching" then I choose profile and select "other profiles" at this time it always crashes. I notice this after I installed CS5 design premium. It never crash before. Anyway I use a specific profile under the "other profiles" menu and can never get there now because it crashes.
    Thanks!

    The free font manager,
    FontFrenzy
will let you create a backup of your fonts. After that's done, use FontFrenzy to delete half of your fonts, then try a title in PrCS3 again.
If it still crashes, restore your full font collection and this time, delete the other half. Repeat until PrCS3's titler doesn't crash anymore.
Before you do that, though, a good place to start is the "DejaVu Sans" font. Untouched, that font will definitely crash Premiere's titler. I think OpenOffice.org installs it (but I'm not sure). If you use FF to delete it, all of the font forms of DVS won't get deleted. But that's OK, because the remaining varieties of DVS won't crash the titler.
I don't have CS3 readily available, but there's definitely a way to get a Quicktime Desktop project up and running.
If you are getting crashes when you change playback settings, I would try updating your graphics card driver. If necessary, try decreasing the hardware acceleration of the video card using Display Properties.

  • Keynote crash when recording with animated gif

I'm running Keynote 6.5 on a MBP with Yosemite. While trying to record a voiceover on a Keynote presentation, the program continually crashes whenever I get to a slide with an animated gif. The gif won't play, but I CANNOT exit the program. The interface appears to be responsive, but in fact nothing works. I can call up the slide navigator, but unable to switch slides. Buttons appear to click but nothing happens. I cannot bring up the Activity Monitor. Command Tab does nothing. I have no choice but to restart the computer.
    Any suggestions?

Yes animated GIF's cause problems in record slideshow;   Keynote is perpetually running an animation and won't advance to the next slide.
I record the voiceover outwith Keynote as separate clips, and place the appropriate clip on each slide, when I do this Keynote plays correctly.

  • Keynotes crashes when importing presentations to ipad. What can I do to avoid this?

    Hi
When trying to import/export keynotes presentations from mac to ipad Keynotes will crash.
I have tried using itunes, idisk og even via e-mail.
The original presentation is made in Powerpoint and then redone in Keynotes.
    What do I do wrong?
    Best regards
    Martin

i have this problem as well. I REFUSE  to make another non smart playlist and copy songs from the smart playlist over. This should just work. The whole reason i use smart playlists is because of the live updating which also works for Itunes match. Copying songs into a different playlist defeats the whole purpose of live updating feature. The BPM option of filters is the only reason the song dont show up in the playlist on my phone. The playlist is there but no songs are in the playlist. But it works with in iTunes.

Right on, Nini. Could be low on scratch disk as well. If the pic is embedded, and/or you've grabbed it off the network, then memory could be the issue. Sounds fishy, though. I mean, this is standard operating procedure stuff, why the crash?

Now, when a program crashes, there is often a "breadcrumb trail" left behind. This ARTICLE will give you tips on finding "clues" in those "breadcrumbs." The trick is to follow any/all links in the error and warning messages, at the time of the program crash, in Event Viewer. This can take some time, and many of the trails will end in screens of useless code, that no one can understand.
At the very bottom of that article is "The Case of the Unexplained." It links to a MS video. It's a bit long, but funny and extremely interesting. It offers some great troubleshooting tips, plus points one to the tools. Those are extremely useful. Those are not "Easy Button" fixes, but are very useful.

  • FCP X crashes when importing clips

    Hello all,
I'm not very computer savvy, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is an easy fix to this that I haven't found yet, but here it goes.
I recently upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 and FCP X 10.1.3, and since then I have been having trouble importing video clips. Every time I've tried, FCP crashes and I get a FCP quite unexpectedly message. So here's what I've tried. I trashed preferences, repaired disk permissions, and uninstalled FCP and reinstalled. Still have the problem.
The only thing I can tell you is that everything was fine before the upgrade and if I do not optimize media during import, things seem to import ok, although I prefer to optimize.
Let me know what you all think, and if there is anymore info you could use.
    Thanks

Unfortunately I can't get that far in the process to be able to answer your question.
The crash doesn't occur when I try to add a transition to a file or storyboard - it happens when I try to drag the transition outside of it's own panel.
As you can see in the screenshot, when the file being dragged touches the red line, FCP shuts down without warning.
    Very confusing and annoying!
