Keynote presentation like powerpoint

I recently built this great presentation in keynote. When I went to present it I got the mini-dvi to vga connector and hooked it up to the projector which worked fine. Running the presentation though none of my page transitions ran correctly and some of the other character transitions did not run correctly either. I specifically want to run keynote versus powerpoint because I didn't want any issues, yet I had them. Can anyone help me figure this out? Could it have been the projector?

I didn't know anything about mirrored or spanning. What I could see on the laptop I think was the same thing that was going showing in through the projector. I remember when I loaded the presentation up that it took a long time and when the presentation was over and I was shutting down, it asked me if I wanted to save the file. I didn't change anything so it shouldn't have asked me that. So something happened that shouldn't have.
I have not tried it again on another monitor yet. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had a problem like this.
PS- sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

  • Can you automate an iPad keynote presentation like a slide show?

I have a very basic keynote presentation that I've created on my iPad 2.  No fancy transitions, etc.  Essentially slides with pictures and information.  I need to have it run like a slide show and repeat itself over and over for a static display.  Can someone help me accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will do it by setting the transition options for the slides.

  • How can I export a keynote presentation as Powerpoint?

I keep getting an error message that "part of the file is missing" in Powerpoint. I've successfully exported before, but this is a long presentation with lots of pictures and video.
Help, please? I really don't want to have to start again from scratch in Powerpoint. I like Keynote oh so much better... (at least I did until this happened...)
    Thanks!

Nothing personal, Russell - 'cause you HAVE helped me in the past - that advice doesn't help me in the slightest.
OS X 10.6.7 will not even let me choose MS PowerPoint 2011 as an "Open With ... " option. It is greyed out. Older versions are available - but no success.
As recently as February of this year I successfully saved essentially the same presentation as a .ppt. So something has changed with either how MS is treating the exported file, or how Keynote is exporting the file.
For right now, I have just exported as a "highest quality images" .pdf for my remote audience. They can view it full-screen (it's a simple presentation - no animation, no embedded sound nor video, no show notes).

  • Can you open a keynote presentation in PowerPoint and vice versa?

I've opened a powerpoint presentation in Keynote but had trouble opening a Keynote in Powerpoint.  I wasn't sure if it was just that particular keynote or is does it just not work.  I know some formatting sometimes get lost.  What's the quality like when doing both?

But you can open a powerpoint in Keynote.
    Correct?
    Yes correct

  • How to convert Keynote presentation to PowerPoint, w/o losing formating?

    Hi,
I have a Macbook with iWork 08. I love creating presenations in Keynote, but when I export to Powerpoint and then try to run the presentation on my Windows XP (work) PC, the presentation is misconfigured with fonts running off the screen and picures misaligned. Animations also seem inconsistent. Is there any way that I can lock these configurations in iWork so it will pass them exactly to Windows PowerPoint? Does iWork '09 provide this?

Why in the wide, wide wonderful world would you want to prepare a presentation with the particular appearance you want in a particular application and then proceed to complain that you cannot have that particular appearance in another application?
If what you want is to preserve appearance, then use an application-independent portable page description model. There is one built into Mac OS X. It's called the Adobe Portable Document Format and while it has its problems, preserving appearance is not one of those problems.
The whole idea these days is NOT to have to buy Microsoft Office in order to interchange digital documents. Instead of everyone buying Microsoft Office, everyone selects an intermediate and application-independent format for interchange. ISO has published two such sets, one set for content interchange (ODF and OOXML) and one set for appearance interchange (PDF). ECMA is working on a second appearance interchange format (XPS).
Acrobat in the free Windows version will image your PDF presentation.

  • Control presentation like powerpoint ones

    Hello together,
I'm working with Captivate 5 for some days now, and the new features are quite impressive. So I'd like to realize my normal powerpoint presentations with Captivate 5. Is there a way, that a presentation behaves like a common powerpoint presentation?
I already disabeled the controlbar during runtime, that it looks like a common presentation.
Slides and other parts of the animation shouldn't proceede automatically, only by user-interaction, that I can click for example like, when I'm finished with talking about the current slide, or object of a slide.
    Greetings,

    Hello again
Note that you can save some time by working as follows:
    1. Insert a Click Box programmed to Go To the Next Slide. Position as desired.
    2. Copy the Click Box to the Windows Clipboard.
    3. Select the remaining slides and paste.
Repeat the steps above for the Click Box that is programmed to Go To the Previous Slide.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Keynote Presentation like OSX Snapshots Screensaver

So I'm working on this presentation of photos that will be displayed on the screen behind a chorus singing and I wanted them to appear like they do in the 'Sanpshots' screen saver.   Anyone have some suggestions as to how to accomplish this?  I would think there has to be some way to do it in Keynote.
    Thanks for any help!

I wanted them to appear like they do in the 'Sanpshots' screen saver.
I dont have Mountain Lion so unless you give more information on what this screen saver does I cant help.

  • Taking Notes within Keynote presentation

Has anyone found a way to take notes within a Keynote Presentation (like in Powerpoint)? I know there is the comment option, but i wonder about a plug-in or something allowing taking notes within the slides.

I use Keynote to take notes in meetings all the time. Just create a slide for each topic point, then create text blocks or bullets as needed. If you need to instead make notes on an already created presentation, it's as easy as creating a text box. Highlighting can be handled, too, but a bit slower than a more dedicated app.

  • Is it possible to find out the names of the various objects (jpegs, pdf's, etc) in a keynote presentation?

I have to re do a keynote presentation for powerpoint -- the export feature won't work on the pc -- it simply says that it wasn't possible to display some of the text and objects because they had become corrupted, and were replaced with blank slides.  I was wondering if it's possible to find out the names of the objects used in the presentation.  That way I could save them to a folder and just paste them in to the PPT version on the PC.  I know they have to be somewhere on the Mac that the presentation was made on, so is it also possible to find out where they would be?
I tried right clicking on the objects in the slide, but there was no 'get info' option, like there is in a finder window.  Please help if you can.
    Chris

There are a few options for you here. In the Inspector>Metrics Tab, when you click on the picture, it will display the name. Then you can use the find feature of the Finder to locate the picture. If you have Keynote set to save files as Packages, you can right click the file in the Finder (or control click) and then select Show Package Content. This will show you all the files that make up your Keynote and you can copy the pictures out of there into a new folder. Finally, if you can't find them any other way, you can select and copy the picture in Keynote, then open Preview and command-n (or File Menu>New from Clipboard) and then save the file to where ever you want so you can find it.

  • Keynote conversion to Powerpoint

How do I convert a Keynote presentation to Powerpoint including the music files used from ITunes?

Have you checked Microsoft's website to ensure that you're supplying the right file format?
Also, if there is a requirement that Windows users of PowerPoint open files with no problems, then you're doing yourself a disservice by not buying PowerPoint. Keynote is an excellent tool and when giving a presentation it still beats PowerPoint handily. However, Keynote isn't and will likely never be a replacement for PowerPoint.
There are other free tools that DO aspire to be carbon copy clones of PowerPoint, though, you may want to check those out.

  • Best way to create a Keynote presentation for use in Windows Powerpoint?

Hi all, as mac users, I know we have all been here,  I am being forced to use Powerpoint and a Windows machine for a presentation.   I am wondering what is the best way to create a keynote presentation (on my mac), and export it to powerpoint (on a windows machine). The goal here is try to get as few errors and missing components of the presentation as possible. I frequently have to export and import documents through Microsoft word and pages, and everytime I open a doc I get a message saying that some things couldn't be imported. This cannot happen in this situation! This is a very important presentation that needs to go as smooth as possible. I am going to be presenting this presentation on a windows 7 machine running microsoft office 2010.
What extra steps should I take (if any) to make sure everything gets exported and imported correctly?
    Thanks in advance,
    - A Mac user under Windows Oppression

Thanks, the presentation went well. I just had to try out different transitions and animations to see which ones worked with Pp. But I'm going full keynote next time!

  • How can you screen your iPad on a keynote presentation? Just like Apple did in last years WWDC when they demo iOS 5 how do they do that

How can you screen your iPad on a Keynote presentation just like Apple?
Like when they had last years WWDC when they demoed iOS 5 on the iPod Touch 4G
Can you do that with an iPad 2?

    AL113-
Mirroring refers to normal operation of the iPad, where you can see the Home screen on your external display, as well as when setting up a slide show, et cetera.  You may not need to mirror the iPad's display for presentations (but the iPad 2 does mirror).  At least for slide shows and videos, the iPad 2's screen does not show the presentation when an AV cable is connected, it only appears on the external screen.
The alternative I mentioned about using the Apple TV box with AirPlay is probably easier to do, except you need the Apple TV box to interface to your external display.  One problem with an AV adapter, is that the weight of its cable tends to pull the connector out of the iPad as you are holding it.

  • Do all animations and features of Keynote save as PowerPoint Presentations and are all of the animations and features then useable on a PC in the .ppt format, will it work properly?

Do all animations and features of Keynote save as PowerPoint Presentations and are all of the animations and features then useable on a PC in the .ppt format, will it work properly?
I want to buy a Macbook Pro, but i need to know the scale of compatability between my Microsoft products and my soon to be apple products, proffessional presentations are vital for what i want, therefore compatability if key if i am to purchase a Mac. Thank you.

Not all of the animations and features in Keynote will transition into Powerpoint.  Most of the basic ones do - but not the advanced.  I had this issue when I first switched over to Mac, so to overcome this, I do two things:
I figured out which animations and transitions work in both Keynote and Powerpoint and used them.  It's kind of a pain when I can't use the awesome Keynote animations, however, Keynote is still much easier and intuitive to work in than Powerpoint.
I sometimes export my Keynote presentations to a Quicktime movie (.mov).  Apple makes it very simple to export to this format; which can then be accessed on both a Mac and PC and all of the transitions and effects remain as they are in Keynote.
    I hope that helps.

As of July 31, 2012, you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the web.
    Now use iCloud instead: http://www.apple.com/icloud/
However, you must have an Apple device to create an iCloud account so Windows only users need to get to one before accessing your files.
