Keys on Mac Pro crunchy

The keys on Mac Pro crunchy on the left side.

what do you mean crunchy?  Like Snap - Crackle and Pop crunchy?
did you spill any liquid in your Macbook?
why not take it to Apple or an Authorized Repair Center and have them open up your Macbook and clean it for you if they offer it.

  • Arrow Key issue Mac Pro 15 inch

I own Mac Pro 15 inch running with Lion OS, for some days it stop responding to Arrow keys. However arrow key are working upto certain extent with the combination of command and control keys. How I can get this issue fixed?

If it says MacBook Pro under the screen, that's the name of the machine.  Mac Pros are desktop tower computers.  Arrow keys can sometimes malfunction if something gets in the keys, or one of the Apple menu -> System Preferences-> Universal Access settings gets turned on.

  • I have a 2013 mac pro and the volume keys aren't changing the volume of my LED display. The icon shows up as going up or down but the volume seems to not adjust.

I've had this computer since october of 2013 or so and I have just recently run into this problem. I use the volume keys on the keyboard and I hear the tick sounds and it shows that its going up and down but the volume doesn't actually change. I've looked in the "sound" settings and everythings seems to be correct... I can't adjust the sound in their either though. I pay too much to be having an issue like this.

Possible? Yes. Likely? I'm not sure.
In my house, I would suspect that either one of our pets chewed on a cable or dislodged a connector, or somebody bumped a connection loose, but then I would expect either no volume at all or hum from a grounding problem. Clear, non-zero constant volume is harder to explain.
You say adjusting the output volume directly in the Sound settings or on the menu bar also has no effect on the audible output?
You might want to go ahead and answer the question about connections. Somebody else might come along who recognizes a possible problem with the particular combination you are using. I don't have exactly your model of Mac Pro or display. (Is yours the Apple LED Cinema Display? Which size?)

    Hey ynareshbabu,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues with your keyboard. The following article provides some great troubleshooting steps:

Entering a QuickTime Pro registration key in Mac OS X for 10.8.2 to register Quicktime. I've BOUGHT it and can't register? It doesn't show a Quicktime in system preference?

Apple are very lazy in giving instructions and it came with OS X v10.6 and OS X v10.5, nothing for OS X v10.7 or OS X v10.8? I've OS X v10.8.2...I'm baffled. I don't need a mind game. I just want a job done.
The instructions found at URL http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678 are up-to-date since they refer to QT 7 v7.6.6 which is compatible with all versions of the Mac OS X v10.6.3 and later—including Lion and Mountain Lion.

In addition when I reinstalled with the Mac OS X install DVD, I somehow lost IPHOTO.  I had backed up documents and pictures...but the pictures are on the desktop in 'library'.

  • 2008 Mac Pro burner failure - report "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03"

Problem just arose - burners working days ago - NO major changes in Mac Pro --- Attempting to burn some DVDs (data only), using the latest version of Toast v12.0 & Dragon Burn, as soon as I tell either my internal or external unit to burn, it runs a few minutes then pops up dialog box - "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03". Blanks are new Memorex. I've restarted Mac Pro multiple times, still no burning possible. In dire need to restore capability. Most gracious thanks for ANY immediate assistance.

There are several different incompatible media sold as writeable CDs. You MUST match the media to the abilities of your drive.
I was flummoxed by buying 8x media when my drive was a 2x drive. I needed the other type, and there was nothing helpful in the diagnostics or the packaging that helped me understand that.
EDIT: There is an interesting helpful feature buried in System Profiler ... (read the last two lines of the report):

  • How can I disable mac pro OSX 'spaces' shortcut keys? (i.e. CTL, Right Arrow)

How can I disable mac pro shortcut keys: CTL right arrow, CTL left arrow, CTL up arrow, CTL down arrow? Currently, they take me from one space to another. (OSX 10.6) Goal is to use these shortcuts for text editing.

    Hi, Simon.
You can instruct iTunes and iPhoto to save their respective libraries to a different disk, e.g. your second hard drive. You can also move existing libraries for these apps to a drive other than your startup disk.
See the links concerning moving these libraries cited in the "More ways to save space if you have a spare partition or second hard drive" section of my "Freeing Space on your Mac OS X startup disk" FAQ.
    Good luck!

  • Mac Pro 2008 Won't Start Up without Option Key

    Hi.
I cannot start up my Mac Pro 2008 without holding down the Option key.
My Snow Leopard internal hard drive failed, so I replaced my failed internal drive with a brand new one and put the cloned backup onto it.  I also have other internal drives and partitions with systems 10.5.6, 10.7.5, and 10.8.4.  I briefly added a Mavericks partition, but removed it.
I THINK the problems started after the HD failure, but I'm not sure.  I added no peripherals recently, although I did add 4 gigs of RAM which were faulty and I had to replace them.  But they test fine with a memory test.
If I Restart, the Mac comes up with a grey screen and won't boot into any system.
If I Shut down, then Start up, I get the gray screen.
In System Preferences, I can see every single possible Startup Drive, but no matter which one I select, the same gray screen happens on boot up.
However, if I hold down the Option key (from startup or restart), then I can choose any startup volume and it starts just fine.
I've run Disk Utility many times for Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions on every volume.  I've run Disk Warrior.  I've zapped the SMC/PRAM, etc.  I've tried starting up from external firewire drives and USB drives.  No matter which drive I select in StartUp Disk Preferences, it's the same grey screen.
I've tried starting up with ZERO peripherals attached except for USB keyboard and mouse.
I've taken out all startup and login items.
I'm don't know what else to try.  I don't mind using the Option key every time, but I'm worried it's a sign of impending problems.
    Thanks!

Barry, thanks for your reply. Yes, that's what I mean when I wrote:
"In System Preferences, I can see every single possible Startup Drive, but no matter which one I select, the same gray screen happens on boot up."
I selected a default startup volume in sys preferences, closed it, and restarted.  I tried every volume possible in turn.
    But thanks for doublechecking

  • Alt key switching documents instead of Creating Clipping Mask - New Mac Pro 2014 - Please help

I just got a new Mac Pro, and when I use the alt/option key as a shortcut in the layers palette (to create clipping masks and duplicate layers) instead it switches to other documents that I have open.  It's only after this happened that I realized how often I use the option key in my work flow and it's frustrating.
    Please help,
    Thanks,
    Lonno

Just solved it.  It had to do with my secondary monitor, which is where my layers palette was.  I used this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5476222?tstart=0
and turned off all the mission control settings I don't use.  Apparently it was switching monitors whenever I used the alt key.
