1. i have created a smartform with desired layout
2. and trying to print on Zebra printer
Questions:
1. smartform is not printing on zebra printer
2. suggest me if there are any ways to print smartform on zebra printer
3. does it requires any native programming language for printing labels on zebra printer
Best Regards,

hi Krishna,
This printer does not support ZPL2 so I thnk you cnnot use the device types like LZEB2. It should work to print via windows and a device type like SAPWIN or SWINCF.

• Problem with text printing on ZEBRA printer

Hi all,
I created a label in adobe forms to print output in ZEBRA140xi series printer. In the label I am printing Delivery number, storage bin, material number, delivery date and other details along with barcodes.
I created a header to display company name. In header I kept solid black color as background and company name in white color in foreground with Arial 8 font.
when I print the label all runtime values are printed but the header with black background only printing. The white text on the black background is not printing.
Kindly tell me what I should do to print white color text on black background in ZEBRA printer?
Note: the print is working fine with laser printer problem comes when printed on ZEBRA printer.

• Not printing the label in the zebra printer for 4 X 7 inch size

Dear all,
Iam trying to print the barcode in the label of size 4.00 X 7.00 inche in smartforms , for which i have created a page format in SPAD with 4 x 7 inch and specified the same in Form interface and specified 4.00 x 6.00 inche in the MainWindow of smarforms,
im getting the print preview ,but it is not printing it in the printer, i checked with the zebra printer set up also and in the printing preferences i gave it as user defined.
but when i tried with page size of 4.00 x 6.00 , it is printing without any problem. but my requirement i need to print that in 4.00 x 7.00.
Can anybody guide me how to resolve this.
thanks in advance. Points assured.

HI
GOOD
GO THROUGH THIS
A barcode solution consists of the following:
- a barcode printer
- a barcode reader
- a mobile data collection application/program
A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
in machine readable format.
There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.
The next part of the equation can be a bit tricky as you will need to get a printer to print that barcode font. Regular laser printers does not normally print barcode fonts, only specialized industrial printers that is specifically designed to support that protocol and that uses specialized label media and heat transfer (resin) ribbon to create the sharp image required for barcodes.
Not to fear though, there are two ways to get around this:
- You can have your IT department do some research -
most laser printers can accept a font cartridge/dimm chip (similar to computer memory), called a BarDIMM that will allow a laser printer to support the printing of barcodes.
- Secondly, you can buy software that you can upload in your SAP print Server that will convert the barcode symbology as an image that will print on a regular laser printer. I found that this option results in less sharper barcodes. This option is really if you need to convert a large quantity of printers (>10) to support barcodes.
- Thirdly, you can buy a third party software like Barcode.dll and install on your frontend PC connected to the laser printer.
Now you have a barcode printed - what next?
Well there are two options, depending on your business requirements:
- You can use an existing SAP transaction on a regular workstation and get a barcode wedge reader to hook up between the keyboard and the PC. These wedge readers comes in a wand or scanner format. There are even wireless wedge scanners available that allows you to roam a few yards from the workstation to scan a label. This approach is mostly used where you want to prevent human errors in typing in long material, batch or serial numbers in receiving or issuing of material. The problem is that it's just replacing the keyboard input and you are basically locked down in one location and have to bring all the material to that location to process.
- Another solution is to use SAPConsole transactions
or write your own ABAP Dialog programs that will fit onto a barcode enabled wireless handheld terminal and that will follow the business logic as executed on the shop floor.
These programs are highly complex exercises in industrial engineering and ergonomics because of the limited screen sizes and limited ability to accept keyboard input. The user is instructed step-by-step and only scan and push F-keys to interact with the SAP system. Scan, scan, beep, beep, enter - highly automated.

• Logo printing on label output from Zebra printer

Hi guru, I am new to zpl command and I cannot find out how SAP is compiling the logo object and load into SAPSCRIPT. Bascially, our company is using zebra printer to print out receiving label with logo on it. There is a requirement to change the logo. What should be the steps?
The transaction I was told to use is OMCF. I can see the precompile file path/name is listed in each label text object. Something list C:\BARONER3\Logos\logo1.bmp or C:\Logos\logo2.bmp. If I need to change a new bmp file for the logo, how should I do it?
Also, is there any good documentation about BAR-ONE and ZPL command?
According to SAP help, the label design is done in BAR-ONE then the print file is downloaded as .ITF format and import into SAPscript as standard text using SO10. However, I cannot find any standard text in SO10 which have the same text ID and text name as in OMCF -> Text Object.....what is the connection between the Standard text and the OMCF text object?
Any advise on the details step to how to create a simple logo/barcode label using BAR-ONE and SAP is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Minami

Hi Minami,
Please check the transaction SE 78 here you can upload new logo or pic with some retriction on size compnay logo should not be a problem. Then you can change the logo.I think this link might be of use to you.I am sending you link

• Increase print rate, print speed zebra printer (zpl)

Hello,
first I start with release info:
SAP system N22 (only ABAP system), which calls Adobe Form processing
Windows 2008 SP1
Oracle 11
SAP ECC 6.0
SAPKB70103
SAPKH60403
SAP ADS system AD0 (only Java system):
Windows 2003 SP2
Oracle 10
SAP Netweaver 7.0 Java with Enhancement Package 1
Versioninformation given by report FP_PDF_TEST_00: 802.20090618120017.572641
We use a ordinary Zebra printer with internal print server (ZM400-200E-0100T).
In N22 there is an output device defined with device type "AZPL203 : ZPL203 for pdf documents only".
Printing works but print speed/rate is always lowest (2 Inch/s) and I find no SAP-way changing it. (Why SAP does not give maxmimum speed in zpl?)
Lowest speed in ZPL-code is represented by ^PRA . I find this string:
- in spool files on N22 (example: SPOOL0000014926_00001.zpl)
- in xdc file on AD0: E:\usr\sap\AD0\SYS\global\AdobeDocumentServices\lib\zpl203.xdc, line: "<seq id="startDoc">XA
PRALH0,3
XZ
</seq>"
Changing the string in that file does not work. Creating a complete new output device in N22 with new xdc file zzpl203.xdc does not work too.
Another way of changing print speed is described in the documentation "SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe, customizing Printing Workflows, (SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS13 or higher), Document Version 2.0 - August 2007". In chapter 4.3 "Changing the print speed setting" is described a job profile named ZPLSettings.xml, which should be used. In that file I do not find printRate.
Who can help?
Kind Regards
Walter Habich

Hi Ale,
You dont need a Zebra bar one tool for printing graphics from smartforms. You need to have propers drivers and proper settings in place. Take a look at the OSS notes 750772 - Information on the ZPL-II printer driver for SmartForms
Check the point 5 in the above oss notes:
5) Support of bitmap graphics
Colored bitmap graphics from SmartForms are changed to black and white when you print from the LZPL printer driver. If the picture quality is affected by this conversion, change the graphic to B/W with a graphics program (such as PaintShop Pro), and import it to SmartForms as as a black and white graphic. Monochrome graphics are not converted by the driver. However, all graphics may be justified to adjust the size of the graphic to the printer resolution (203, 300 or 600 dpi).
During the import to SmartForms, you have the option to flag a bitmap as "resident". In this case, the LZPL printer driver saves the graphic in the RAM of the printer when it first occurs (Device "R:" of the zebra printer). At the end of the spool request, the driver deletes the graphic again from the printer's RAM, so that no more memory remains occupied.
Resident graphics during label printing from SmartForms are therefore only faster if more than one label is printed within a spool request, and the resident graphic is repeated on each label.
I hope this info helps.

• Printing on Zebra printer

Hi
We are using zebra printer model TLP3844-z. We are facing following problem. When we are printing only labels it is printing through SAP but as soo as we add image to that label it is not printing through SAP. But at the same time from zebra label designer program it prints the same image along with label prints.
What could be the problem?
Thanks in advance

You have to setup a printer i SAP (transaktion SPAD) with device-type LB_ZEB or LB_ZEB2.
Sometimes, if the SAP standard is not enough, one have to create a device-type of your own, preferably based on one of the above.
Secondly, you need to create SAPscript form or SmartForm in SAP together
This means that you need to know the programminglanguage of the Zebra-printer so can adress the page, change font etc.
This together with an ABAP-program which reads the data that you want to print. This is all developer-work.
Last, you need to configure that, e g when printing adress label you should trigger the abap to print your label. This is either the work of an experienced programmer or an application worker.

• Barcode not printing on Zebra printer

Hi All,
We are facing an issue while printing the barcode from ECC 5.0 using a smartform.
The problem is that the z program creates a spool when we click the print option but does not print the barcode in the zebra printer. Also when we try to print from spool directly it doesn't print anything.
We are on Ecc 5.0
zebra printer is Z4mplus.
Any help is appreciated and will be rewarded with points.
Thanks

• Printing transfer order ( tx LT31 ) with smartforms ?

Hi all,
Is it possible to assing a smartform for printing transfer orders? I didn't find any informations about that in this forum...
Thank you in advance !
Olivier.

No. The Transfer Order configuration can only accept the SAPScripts.
But however there is a work around.
Create a Smartform.
You can create own your program to select the data for the transfer order and use the smartform in it.
In the Configuration, you can assign this program and a DUMMY SAPScript name (you may leave the standard SAPScript name).

• Rotation of label using smartforms by 90 deg using zebra printer

Hi,
I am facing one problem using smartforms for label printing. Since the zebra printer which is being used requires 90 deg rotation of form for the normal smartform design. I have even tried using ZPL commands by using ^FWR command in the window attributes but the text within that window only gets rotated and each line gets overwritten on one another. Please let me know if it s possible to rotate the complete form in smartform for label printing using zebra printer.
Thanks and Regards

• Smartforms printing issue with ZEBRA Printer

Hi All,
I am facing a issue where we are printing a 5*4 inch label on a Zebra printer out of SAP,when i Print the same on a Zebra printer the text is Blown up and the entire contents doesn't fit,but when see the spool and when I convert that spool in Pdf using the program RSTXPDFT4 and see the properties it looks perfect with properties as 5*4 Inch.
Can someone give me there inputs of a similar issue they faced.

Hi,
could you take a picture of the label printed by your Zebra ?
Did you use the ZPLII printer driver ?

• Smart form rotate 90 degrees with Zebra printer

Hi Experts,
We are using smart form to design label which need be printed by Zebra printer, and the label need be printed in landscape. Currently we are using the Zebra command '^FWR' in smartform to rotate the field in each window, but the rotated format is very strange. Can anyone let me know how the rotate command work?
It would be highly appreicated if an rotate example can be provided.
Many thanks.
Benny.

The Zebra command ^FWR rotates each individual field by 90 degrees (clockwise). But then you'll have to adjust position of each field again for landscape output.
In ZPL II printer language is no command for rotating label by 90 degrees. The printer driver doesn't understand "orientation=LANDSCAPE".
A slightly better solution could be to define a smartform with portrait orientation. Add a "command node" in first window and enter attribute name "S_LZPL_SETUP" with value '^FWR'.
Please note that this command doesn't has an effect on barcodes. They have their own parameters for rotation. Please define these parameters in SE73 for each barcode type your're using.

• Smartforms in Zebra Printer - Landscape Format

Hi all,
I have two issues....Kindly help me in this regard.
1) I have developed 9 labels in smart forms (all to be printed in Zebra printer) of which 4 should be in Landscape format. I have changed the settings in my smart form(Page>OutputOption>Landscape) for the 4 labels. So, when I give the printout of all the 9 labels these 4 alone should be in Landscape format ad the rest in Portrait format.
But, every label comes in Portrait format only.
2) In the above label in 1 particular label half of the label is completely black and only remaining half is seen.
I have used the device type :- ZLZEB2 based on the SAP Notes 750002 and 750772.
Kindly help me in this regard as the requirement is pretty urgent.Any information would be helpful.
Thanks & Regards,
Ramky.G

Hello Martin,
Yes, I know about the sap-notes and have tried the tips too. However, the printout is all mugged up on the same line. This my problem. I will try with new-line command and see if the lines print would be seperated line for line.
Do you have an example for me, with screen shots etc?
However, thanks. I have given points
Blacky.

• Label Print on Zebra

Hi Gurus,
I am changing one output from normal A4 printer to Zebra printer which is now printed on top of A4 size. This paper is cut and pasted by user. I have set up zebra printer. ABAP guy has made the changes. From his prospective, all changes are done (when he made some changes the label is rotated 180 degree). But, the print is still not coming right. It is still in portriat and only left topmost part in printed on label. The oriantation of label is not changed from portrait to lanscape. Has anyone come accross this issue earlier? How to resolve this issue to change orientation to 90 degree.
Thanks in advance
