LabVIEW 2011SP1 Error building installer: LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2013 is missing 3 dependencies???

I'm having a problem building an installer in LabVIEW 2011SP1.
It's been a while since I've tried to build an installer but it used to work fine and building executables is still working fine.
Now when I try to build the installer I get "The build was unsuccessful."
Possible reasons: Error generating preview for My Application 3.1.7.

The really strange thing about this is that I'm using LabVIEW 2011SP1, I don't even have LabVIEW 2013 installed, not even the runtime.
Where is the problem? Why is it even complaining about LabVIEW 2013? Has anyone seen this before?

I do have the LabVIEW 2013 discs but didn't install it.
I checked in Control Panel > Programs and Features > National Instruments Software and the LabVIEW 2013 Run-Time is not listed there.
I also checked in MAX > Software and I must have missed it the first time I looked. LabVIEW Run-Time 2013 is listed there after all.
Now I remember installing VISA 5.4 to get rid of a nasty bug. It must have installed the 2013 Run-Time when I did that.
So now I need to distribute 2 runtimes with my application?!?!

  • Labview Executable with VISA functions in Run Time Engine

    Hi Everybody
I designed a gui to communicate using VISA GPIB. I created an executable for the gui. I also installed LabView Run Time Engine on the desired machine. I recieved couple of errors, for which I copied the files visa32.dll, NIVISV32.dll and serpdrv to the folder with the executable.
I recieved the following error, ' Initialization of NIVISV32.dll failed. The process interminating abnormally.'
Are there any drivers I should install in addition to the Run Time Engine? If so, where can I find these drivers?
    Thank you
    Jackie

I installed NI-VISA with similar version as my development installation, and LV runtime engine. Labview still crashed.
I noticed certain library functions in full labview that is not present in the NI-VISA + LV run time directory, such as _visa.llb etc.
Do I need to copy these additional library functions too? Will Run Time Engine read these library functions?

  • Fatal Error in LV8.2 Run-Time Engine install

    Hi,
We have a serious problem with installation of LV 8.2 Run-Time Engine (RTE).
When a Domain Administrator is trying to install the RTE, the installation stops with the following error (see RTEInstallFatalError.jpg):
In error message path 'mk' references to domain Administrator user name.
When a Local Administrator installs the RTE, there is no problem.
Any explanations or suggestions? It is a very heavy bug, if even the domain administrator cannot install the RTE and therefore use the application.
    Thanks,

Found a solution to the problem...
As the error indicates there is a problem with the user's profile folder 'My Documents'. Domain administrator did not have 'My Documents' in his profile. After creating such a folder there manually, RTE installation worked successfully.
So now the question rises: why RTE installation requires such a folder to exist? Nothing is installed there!
My opinion is that RTE installation needs to be much more reliable than it is currently. Professional developers who make commercial products using LabVIEW will have a lot of pain with the current solution.
    1) Customization options for RTE are poor. I think that most of the companies that deploy their LV-made application want no extra stuff installed. If the developer knows that e.g. TDMS or NI-REPORTS are not used in his application, there should be an option to NOT install these with RTE!
    2) There should be more documentation (by NI) on RTE installation and its error handling should be improved.
I hope more discussion on RTE.
    Thanks,

  • Error 1722 when installing Run-Time Engine 6.0

I am unable to install the necessary LabView Run-Time Engine 6.0 required to run my VitalView Software.  I have reviewed the message boards and attempted all possible solutions: disabling anti-virus programs, following the NI support links: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/334E91287EDEA75286256D9B003A947A?OpenDocument.
None of these methods will allow for the Run-Time engine to be installed.  What can I do?
Help very much appreciated, thank you!

    My OS is Windows XP.
I am trying to install an older LabView run-time engine since my application VitalView asks for a LabView 6.0 Run-time engine (or something compatible).
I have attached the jpg of the error message that I receive whenever I attempt to install the LabView engine.

  • MAX giving error - Unable to locate Labview run-time engine

I have LV 7.1 and 8.5.1 installed on a WinXP pc. No problems until now.
I installed some support software for a LabJack  interface, which required LV version 6.1 run-time, so I let it install that.
I now get the error whenever I run MAX:
"Unable to locate the Labview run-time engine. LVBrokerAux71 requires a version 7.1 (or compatible) Labview run-time engine...."
After closing the error boxes, MAX seems to work fine. Both versions of Labview also work. I uninstalled run-time engine 6.1 and re-installed version 8.5.1, but that made no difference. I tried to install run-time version 7.1 from the msi file but it would not let me because a later version of the run-time is installed.
What is LV Broker? Why does it not accept version 8.5.1 run-time engine? Is it possible to have 2 versions of the run-time engine installed, and if so, how?

    Dear CDancer
Thank you for contacting NI. First of all, you can have as many versions of LabVIEW run time engines you want loaded on your computer without a problem. LV Broker is installed by all drivers that uses LabVIEW testpanels like DAQmx does. In your case it seems that the LV Broker installation is corrupted or has failed. This can be rectified by overwriting the files in the specified directory listed below:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Broker
Your directory should look like the screenshot I have attached; labelled LV Broker Directory View
I have attached a ZIP File that will replace the LV Broker directory. Please try replacing your files with these if different to the screenshot and let me know how you get on. Many thanks.
Many thanks for using the NI forums and I look forward to your reply.

  • Why is VI not executable using Labview 7.1 Run-Time Engine?

    Hi,
In our Teststand sequence, we have a Labview Action step which is returning an error: "The VI is not executable", along with the error code: -18002.
This error occurs on a Production PC using the L.V. 7.1 Run-Time Engine.
I'm aware of Mass Compiling to ensure all the VI's are the correct version, but this has not resolved the problem.
The software was installed on the production PC using a Teststand created installer, with the Labview Adapter set
correctly to the Run-Time Engine, i.e. not trying to open the Labview Developer Server to execute the step at run time.
Because it's the 1st Labview module to be executed, I added another similar step to run beforehand, i.e. the new simple
Labview code ran first. This executed correctly, but then the next step caused the error above.
The small number of associated sub-vi's are on the target PC, and have been mass compiled.
I've had -18002 errors before, but this is one I cannot cure.
    All suggestions gratefully received.
    Gary.

    Hi Guys,
Regarding this -18002 error when using the Run Time Engine instead of the Development Environment, what is the VI within the step that is failing (in any of the cases you've mentioned) trying to do? Are they built around any toolkits?
In my experiments with a simple VI (with just a user dialogue) using the LabVIEW 7.1 RTE in both TestStand 3.1 and 3.5 this morning, I haven't found any issues
There is a possibility if any of the sub-VIs or toolkits you use contain a Merge Errors.vi, that the Run Time Engine picks up a copy of the VI built for previous versions of the RunTime Engine (due to the order in which the sub-VI directories are scanned), and it cannot convert it.
There are a few solutions for this, the easiest one looks to be to copy the error.llb\Merge Errors.vi for LabVIEW 7.1 into the same directory as the VI you're calling (so TestStand can pick it up easily).
Can you let me know if this solution helps at all? If not, would it be possible to post up any of the code or sequence you're having problems with?
    Best wishes,

  • Distribute application without labview run-time engine

I read a lot of post saying if the target machine has the same run-time engine installed, then I don't need to distribute the application with labview run-time engine. Somehow this rules doesn't work for me. I have a PC installed labview 2010 development system and has run-time engine 2011 SP1. I also download the same version of run-time engine and installed it in a target PC. When I distribute my labview application, if I select to include the run-time engine in build properties, the application will be able to install and run properly in the target machine; If I don't include the run-time engine, then I wouldn't be able to run the application.
Does anyone help me on this? I don't want to always build the application with the run-time engine since it's quite big

Could you take a look at my NI software list and let me know what labview run-time engine is really in use?
And in build properties, it actually list addition installer include labview run time engine SP1. If I includes this version of run-time engine and run the installer in target machine, it will still install the run-time engines just like there is no run-time engine installed in the target machine before.

  • How can I uninstall Labview run time engine from the machine?

I understand that Labview has not given any provision to show customized 'License Agreement screen'. Isn't it? This is the main cause of my problem. Since I want to show our own license agreement (LA) screen, I made the one using Labview. To show this license agreement screen, I first install a small application which has only this LA screen with Labview run time engine. The customer can see License Agreement Screen with Labview Run Time Engine on his machine. If My customer accepts the LA, I will install the main application further by calling another setup.EXE file.
If my customer selects 'Do Not Agree' to the LA, I will quit the installation process. Here I also want to 'uninstall' Labview Run Time Engine
from his machine since he doesn't accept License. I would like to know how to uninstall Labview run time engine from his machine?
Another way which I could think is to run the LA screen from the CD with Labview run time engine on the CD. I will start installing the main S/W to the customer's machine with LABview Run Time Engine only after he accepts License agreement. I would like to know how to run the Labview application from CD without installing run time engine on the target machine?
Can anyone suggest solution to my problem?
    Thanks,
    Chander

    J-Tek,
I would suggest re-installing the Run-time Engine and then uninstalling it after a reboot. Also, you can download a program called Msicuu.exe (for NT, 2000, XP or Msicu.exe for 9x) to help clean up the registry for uninstalled programs.

  • Upgraded from LabVIEW 8 to 2013 and now VI asks to find the installation package for Run-Time Engine 7.0

I recently installed LabVIEW 2013 on a computer (running Windows XP 32-bit).  The machine also has LabVIEW 8 installed, which is what I was using prior to upgrading.  I opened a VI that was created in LV8 and then saved it and all its subVIs in LV2013.  Now when I open the VI in LV2013 and try to run it, a window pops up asking me to find the "lvruntimeeng.msi" installation package for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 7.0.  If I cancel that dialog box and the subsequent message stating that the installion files were not found, the VI appears (at least from intial inspection) to run normally.
I closed LabVIEW, downloaded Run-Time Engine 7.0 from the NI website, and tried to install it, but I received a message saying that it is already installed (as I had suspected).  How can I determine what part of the VI and/or its subVIs is trying to make use of Run-Time Engine 7.0?  Alternatively, how can I get LabVIEW to instead use the Run-Time Engine 2013 that was installed when I upgraded to LabVIEW 2013?

Are you running your VI from a Project?  If so, you can look at Dependencies and get an idea what "dependent" VIs you might have.  There may be "something old" in your LabVIEW 8 code that has been superceded in 2013, but still "hangs around" -- if you can identify it, you can probably replace it with its "more modern" equivalent.
If you do not have the VI in a Project, you can simply open LabVIEW, create a new blank project, and add your top level VI to it.  If all of your relevant VIs are in a single folder, add the entire folder.  Now look in Dependencies.

Yes I am running the VI from within a LV Project.  After some more searching in the NI Knowledgebase I was able to fix the problem by using the following procedure:
    1.  Use the Measurement and Automation Explorer to uninstall Run-Time Engine 7.0
    2.  Restart the PC
    3.  Open the project, close the project choosing to "save all"
    4.  Restart the PC
    5.  Re-install Run-Time Engine 7.0 using a file downloaded from ni.com
    6.  Restart the PC
    7.  Open the project, close the project choosing to "save all"
    8.  Open the project and run the VI.  No more messages about LabVIEW trying to find Run-Time Engine 7.0.

    Hi Benjamin,
You will not be able to use the LabVIEW 2010 run-time engine with LabVIEW 2012 applications.  Versions of run-time engines need to correspond with the version of LabVIEW that you have installed.
The following links direct you to our download pages for the run-time engine:
The 32-Bit Run-Time Engine can be downloaded from our website as can the 64-Bit Run-Time Engine, depending on which version of operating system you, use by clicking the link under "Standard Download".

  • When creating an application installer in LV, what run-time engine or driver must be installed to install the VISA interactive control?

I've created an application installer using LabVIEW's application builder and use it to install NI MAX.  However, after running the installer, the VISA interactive control is disabled in NI MAX.
    The installer installs the following NI components:  NI LabVIEW Run-Time 2014 SP-1(64-bit), NI LabWindows/CVI Shared Run-Time Engine 2013 SP2, NI Measurement & Automation Explorer 14.5, NI-488.2 Application Development Support (includes run-time), NI-VISA Configuration Support 14.0.1, NI-VISA Runtime 14.0.1, NI-VISA Server 14.0, NI Systems Configuration Runtime 14.5.0, vision run-time, dc-power run-time.
If I download and run the 488.2 installer, the VISA interactive control is enabled in NI MAX.  But, the installer created with the application builder does not seem to install the necessary components.
What needs to be added to the installer to enable  the VISA interactive control (VISAIC)?

Sorry for the confusion with the forum post that Jon sent you. I did some research on our internal database and I found out the component will not be installed by any of the components added from the additional installers section on the configuration of the installer. As you have already found out you need to install the full installer in order to enable this feature.
I know that this might be an inconvenient for you because you wanted to have one installer to run. On this case may I suggest using the NI Batch Installer Builder.
The NI Batch Installer Builder allows building installers that contain National Instruments software from several products. That way you can create an installer for you application in LabVIEW (and not include the drivers in the additional installer section), then use NI Batch Installer Builder to include the installer for your application and the full version of the drivers that you mentioned.
    Here is the download link:

It's rather difficult to guess why since the error does not give any more information, but there are a few things you can try. First, if you are installing from a CD, try downloading the installer to your desktop first and then run it. CD-ROMs can sometimes run slower that the installer and this can cause problems. Also, check to see what other NI software may have been installed on this machine and determine if any of it could conflict with the 6.0.2 Run-Time Engine. Just possibilities but hopefully they can get you going!

  • Error involving Report Generation Toolkit and Labview Run Time Engine

Developed an application using LabVIEW 6.1 and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office 1.0.1. From there, tried to build a shared application for use with the LabVIEW Run Time Engine. The Run Time version functions properly until "New Report.vi" is called and then an error is generated, code 7, calling out "Open VI Reference in New Report.vi" could not be found. When building the application, I did include the "NI Reports Support" in the advanced installer options. The machine used for original development and application build is running Windows XP Pro and Office XP. Any suggestions??

I am having the exact same problem but with LV 6.1 and M/S WORD 2000. It appears that the "New Report.vi" is trying to open "C:\APP.DIR\Word_Open.vi" and "C:\APP.Dir\Word_Open_Document.vi" by reference. The "OFFICE 2000.TXT" says that "_exclsub.llb and _wordsub.llb must be added as support files when building an application or a dynamic link library with the application builder." I added them as Support Files and I copied them to the "C:\TESTER\" where the TESTER.EXE is and I still get ERROR 7 in "NEW REPORT.VI" at VI OPEN REFERENCE.
Do I need to make a "C:\TESTER\DATA\" sub-dir and put the support files there?
I am building on MY COMPUTER on F: Drive on a network and transporting files to the real Tester.
    I displayed my App.Property of APP.DI
R at start up and it is C:\TESTER\ ! How would my application know that "Word_Open.vi" and "Word_Open_Document.vi" are actually inside the _wordsub.llb?

    Hi,
I have already looked at that forum issue.
So I have already tried to delete all keys in regedit.
The problem is, if I continue with my installation, about 10 other new issues will appear.
And my installation will not complete, it will fail.
The installer does not install, it will tell me that the installation failed, and it will only install a few things.
Not all the things that I need to run my program.
See attached pictures ibn zip file to see some errors I receive, I only picked a few of them out.
So when I then tries to start my program I will recive the error in picture program error. (Run-time engine error)
So it's not only that the installer tells me that the installation doesn't go through, it doesn't.
