LaCie d2 Blu Ray Burner not burning in Encore Mac

So I've built a blu ray disk in Encore and all set to burn the Blu Ray disk. When I hit burn, the LaCie drive asks for a disk. When I put the disk in, it waits and waits and then spits it back out. The disk is blank, and is a writeable Blu Ray disk. I am able to create a disk image but not burn it to a blu ray using my mac. Any imput?
Thanks,
Casey

The preferred method for many of us is not to use Encore to burn. For Mac, use toast. (For PC, imgburn.)
I always suspect permissions issues and/or other software taking control.

I've a tone of problems with this version.  Encore showing error codes 14, 25.....Some of the chapters working fine but others not. I've tried several ways to solve the issues but no hope. It seems you need full knowledge of blu ray theories to burn a blu ray!!!!

I'm using windows 7 on laptop with i7 processor and nvidia GTS 360M display, External 1 TB HDD through SATA cable.
Original shot was on HDV 60i with multiple Sony cameras and did the multicam edit. Converted to H264 with PCM audio with premiere CS 5.5, used VBR 2 pass everthing else left as defaut settings. Rendering took almost 21 hrs to generate  2:18 hr. video .m4v and .wav files (file size 17.7 gb).
When I bring these videos as timeline(took ~20min to load files.) into the Encore with all the menus(created in photoshop with buttons and res. 1440 X 1080 to match with other assets ), some of the chapters not working on the preview window and Encore transcoded the whole files took another ~10 hrs!
Is there any better and faster workflow to complete the project ?
note: I used the cineform avi for multicam editing in premiere pro with the same settings (HDV 29.97).
Okay, we are starting to make progress, but why are you shooting in HDV? That is a lossy system using non-sqyuare pixels so the whole thing is effectively getting converted. No wonder it took 21 hours and it looks to me as if you exported to the wrong settings - .m4v is regular .264, not BluRay. See Stan's suggestion.
We still need to see the exact error messages - it looks likely you are out of HDD space. Remember that Premiere & Encore use 32-bit float audio temp files, and the media cache databases will be enormous.....how much HDD free is remaining?

  • Blu-ray Error: "not enough fre storage". Code:"25", Note "Not enough space on media"

    I have a project a  Encore CS6 V6.0.1.013 for MAC.
I tryng export do Blu-ray Disc, but ireceved this error message
Blu-ray Error: "not enough fre storage". Code:"25", Note "Not enough space on media"
But at "Disc Info" i have 14.71mb free

My longer notes on this error:
The most common workaround for this is to build to a folder and burn with ImgBurn (for PC) or toast (for Mac).
Searches show that there has not been success in many situations. I do not believe that it is one problem.
I have generally believed that the error refers to temporary storage on the hard drive. And users underestimate the amount of temporary hard disk drive space used. For bluray it is about twice the disk or more.
Some users experience this error when they are creating dual layer BD disks, and a layer is more than 25G. Each video/layer must fit on one side.
And some users successfully burn their disk by re-encoding to a lower bitrate (a 25G BD disk does not hold 25G). Encore uses padding to predict the size on disk (e.g. add 10% to the amount of space it predicts that build will use), and it can be wrong.
Always good to "run as administrator, though I don't know that ever fixed this issue if someone wasn't.
For CS4 there was a required update for a Roxio component. I believed this was a temporary problem due to the combination of Win7 and Encore CS4, but users on newer OS and Encore have reported resolution of problems after installing the patch.

  • H.264 blu ray setting not working

I am about ready to pull my hair out. I purchased final cut pro x, compressor 4, and a new canon hd camcorder. From the research i did it appeared i also needed anusoft's media converter program in order to work with my canon's .mts files. i successfully edited several hours of footage down to about an hour and exported it from final cut prox using the export media setting and dragged the prores file into compressor 4 and converted it to h.264. however i am unable to open the file that is produced by this process. I have tried doing it various ways. i have tried using a small segement of the video. i've tried using another video with the same results. I did try converting a segment to another compressor pre set and it worked fine. i continue to get the same error every time when i try to open the h264 file, "cannot open media file". The other odd thing that happens when i double click on the file, just before i get the error message,  is that compressor opens. i had assumed it would've opened in quick time but perhaps i'm wrong in this. i've deleted my compressor program and re installed it. I've deleted final cut pro x and reinstalled that. I've done a clean install. (i was having serious problems with final cut pro x not opening in my administrator account so that was why i took such a drastic step with the clean install). Final cut pro x now works perfectly well. But i am still getting the exact same problem with the h 264 setting. my goal is to burn a blu ray disc with my digistor blu ray burner. I am using Lion. Anusoft MTS conversion was set for prores "lite" and everything seemed fine in final cut pro x.
after all this i am assuming i am an idiot and have missed something really obvious. I've been making home movies for a long time and have upgraded to the pro applications and realize it's a learning curve but i'm usually pretty quick to catch on. I'd really appreciate some advice! I've been working at this in my spare time since December 11 and haven't been able to find much out there so thanks anyone if you have a moment.

Unfortunately Compressor, Quicktime X and Quicktime 7 can't play a Blu-ray .264 video files. This makes it hard to test your raw Blu-ray videos.
I found an app that will plaback the Blu-ray .264 video file on a Mac, VideoSpec. It's a free app!
    http://videospec.free.fr/index.html
Drop your Blu-ray .264 video onto the open window and hit the play button in the upper left. VideoSpec has the Mplayer incorporated into the app. I guess you could download the stand-alone Mplayer app. But, Videospec gives you more options, video info for example.
What you could do to save on Blu-ray discs is to burn the Video onto a DVD for a test. You can only burn about 35 minute onto a DVD disc.

  • Blu-ray Error: "not enough free storage" - even though 800MB are free

I'm trying to burn a Blu-Ray, about 2h20min worth of VBR 2pass HD video exported therough Premier 5.5 via the "Queue" (Media Encoder). Using the Blu-ray mpeg preset with the target bitrate slightly reduced.
Anyway, point is that Disc Info in the Build tab says 24.18 GB used, 818.9 MB free, yet when I go to burn I get "Blu-ray Error: 'not enough free storage', Code '25', Note: 'Not enough disc space.'" I've had problems with dual layer DVDs in the past, but I have successfully burned blu-ray before (but with not as much content). So I tried doing my workaround for DLs, which is burning to a  folder with the intention of going through ImgBurn.  But when I try to do a Blu-ray folder I get 'Blu-ray Error: 'device not ready,' Code '3', Note: "File can not open.(F:\Encore Projects\Geprges and Julie Bluray\AuthorScriptHDMVSessions\Gerpges Julie export 1 bluray 2pass high.m2v.00_28_02_22.9.2011_UTC_04_00DST.ves.)- "
("Georges and Julie" is name of my file and project.)
Any ideas? For the record, yes I am running as administrator.

Well, this is a bug that has been running since, I think, CS5 and is still there in CS5.5
This error code 25 would come when you burn to the Blu-ray Image and not with Folder and Disc.
And regarding the error code 3 that came while burning to folder, this is because sometimes with multiple burning attempts of the same project causes the session files of the project go corrupt. So FIRST TAKE A BACK UP OF YOUR PROJECT (save as your project to some other place to retain a copy of it) and then clsoe the project and delete all the session files from the project folder. Delete the session files and Not the Sesson folder.
Reopen the project and build. This should work.

  • LaCie d2 Blu-ray XL Via Thunderbolt

    Using a
    LaCie d2 Blu-ray XL
with my 2012 imac. The drive supports Firewire 400 and USB2, utilizing the 400 to 800 firewire cable supplied I bought a Thunderbolt port and I'm only getting 3X speeds instead of 6x speeds. Am I doing something wrong?

    BB wrote:
Serial ATA Interface (Rev 2.6); Data transfer rate: 1.5Gb/sec
That is not the read speed of the drive, that is only the interface speed.  In the case of CD/DVD/Blu-ray the interface speed is several times faster than the drive actually is.  The physical transfer of the bits off of the spinning disk is the limiting factor.
The speed difference between USB 2.0 and FW400 isn't all that much but FW400 uses far less cpu cycles for the data transfer.
According to several sites the maximum read speed of BD on that drive is 10X (just under 45 Mbytes/sec) which is pushing the limits of USB 2.0 and FW400 but the 3X you report means something is definitely amiss somewhere in the system.  It could be a drive problem, a disk problem, or something else.
With my Thunderbolt to FW800 adapter I'm getting about 170 Mbytes/sec transfer from my drives that use RAID 0 mirroring and the limiting factor is definitely the data transfer between the spinning platter(s) and the drive electronic buffer.

  • LaCie d2 blu-ray 8X burner and Premiere Pro CS4/ Encore

Is anyone using this combo? If you are, have you burned a blu-ray movie yet?
I am wanting to purchase a player known to work with PP CS4.
I plan to use a Canon HFS 100 and the H.264 codec.
    Any suggestions out there?

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question directly about that piece of hardware. Others should be along with knowledge of it.
In the meantime, you might want to read this ARTICLE by Neil Wilkes from the Adobe Encore FAQ. There is a lot of good, general Burning info in it.

  • Fcpx, Blu-Ray & toast 11 = Burn both files in the img?

Looking to burn a Blu-Ray that is compatible with a standard home Blu-Ray player.
    short:
On a FCPX Blu-Ray IMG, do you include both files in the burn or just the BDMG?
    Long:
Job is all 5D mark 3 footage.
I have FCX 10.0.8. & output finished job to "share" BLU-Ray.
Result is a .IMG that when opened holds a BDMG file and a folder labeled CERTIFICATE.
I have a Mac Book Pro with a Blu-Ray burner.
Also have Toast 11 with the DB add-on.
What I don't have is a standard home Blu-Ray player to test the burn.
I do have a Blu-Ray player on my Mac but it's not the same as testing a standard home Blu-Ray player because on a home player when you put the disc in it either plays or doesn't.
Anyone experionce this before? And knows the solution to this diddy?
    Thanks!
    I would spend hours searching all the... results, as I normally do, but need to get it out tonight :-}

I think I found the answer. Looks like Both go in the burn.
1st, sorry for the short hand speech and typos. (BDMG should be BDMV)
In videohelp form it was suggested that both the BDMV and the CERTIFICATE should be in the burn.
    http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/325212-How-to-burn-a-BDMV-folder
Incase someone is searching for this same question, I thought I'd give the answer I found and break it down a little further.
    Q: How do I output to Blu-Ray in Final Cut Pro X? I don't see a Blu-Ray option.
A: In 10.0.8 that option is hidden from the main "share" menu.
Here is Apples "how to" page on how to find it, along with other info on Destination Prefs:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12718
Basically you select Share, then the plus sign "Add Destination" located at the bottom of the list, then Blu-Ray.
When you select Blu-Ray, in the preference window, the first pref. is "Output device" with two options your burner or hard drive. If you pick hard drive you get a .IMG that you would open and place the contents into a burn.
Q: What Blu-Ray burner is in your Mac?
    A:  a Panasonic UJ267
Very overpriced and had to modify (voided the warranty) in order for it to fit in my 15-inch, Mid 2010 MacBook Pro.
I switched one of the covers on the Panasonic with my existing to get the right fit. One screw hole had a "no tamper" label that I destroyed, so that voided my warranty.
    Q: why not an external?
A: I have one but it's big and needs AC power so it's not easy to move.
This is soooooo much easier because it's so mobile.
24 Gig backups of all my stuff for a $1 per burn is priceless.
    Best of luck!

  • Using an external Blue Ray Disc Drive/Burner with an imac?  Can I?  Brand?

I have a blue ray player in the living room and I'm just starting to research burning blue ray discs using the imac.
I have an intel based imac, 2.8ghs intel core 2 duo, 4gb sdram, 1tb hard drive.
Should I be able to safely use an external blue ray burner?
If so, recommendations as to a product?

there is no official support for blue ray drives in leopard. Steve jobs said blue ray is "a bag of hurt" referring to the licensing issues for blue ray.
As a result there is no recommended drives as they are not officially supported.
I can't recommend either as I don't use Blue ray yet.
A quick google brought up this
    http://www.tuaw.com/2007/01/25/blu-ray-arrives-for-the-mac-wheres-hd-dvd/
Judging by your list of gadgets below your post, it won't be much good as it is for the Mac Pro
All I can say is that Snow Leopard may bring better support for Blue Ray, all you can do is hope!

i changed one effect in the project in premiere and i noticed it stutters at that spot in encore as well as after i burn it on blu ray can anyone help ?

A Cross-Dissolve is actually a Transition, and not an Effect. If you get a "stutter" with a Transition, it is very likely because you did not have adequate Handles in you Clips. The Help files will offer more info, but these will get you started:

  • Create Blu-Ray: Encodes and burns only small section of movie

I have a late 2013 Mac Pro and I am trying to use compressor 4 to burn a Blu-Ray disc. My source is an Apple ProRes422 encoded Quicktime file (about 1h of video). After about 1 h of submitting the job, compressor displays the status as successful. When I test the disc, the beginning of the movie has indeed burned successfully but the disc contains only a short stretch of the movie. I check the encoded files and they are small (ca 300-500MB) which is telling me that only the beginning of the movie was encoded. How can I burn the whole movie onto a Blu-Ray successfully? What I am doing wrong?
Furthermore, I have several movies that I would like to burn onto one Blu-Ray. How can I do that with compressor other than putting them all into one project in final cut pro and exporting the project to compressor?
By the way all 8 movies burned successfully onto one Blu-Ray with Toast 11 using the same hardware. However, I would like to be able to achieve the same or better result with compressor 4.
    Thank you for your suggestions

You are probably not doing anything wrong. The FCP X and Compressor discussion boards have multiple threads from users who are either getting no output from Blu Ray encoding projects - or they get strange results, like very low bit rates, regardless of the settings. Long projects seem more likely to be affected. If you haven't tried it already, see whether you can make a disk image, which Toast should handel without re-encoding.
Not everyone has experienced these difficulties, but AFAIK, no one – on either forum – has come up with an explanation of why.
One of the workarounds has been one that you're already using – Toast. Others have subscribed to Adobe CC Premiere to her the Encore download. One suggestion – apparently originating from an Apple support person – was to use a high bit rate MPEG2 setting.
There have been several posts (from users) that Apple engineers are aware of the issue. I can't confirm that one way or the other.
If you want to put multiple movies on a disk using Compressor or FCP X(assuming the larger issue is somehow overcome) you would need to bring the finished movies into an editing program (including quicktime Pro) as clips, assemble them on a timeline (or track), insert a gap clip and chapter markers and titles for navigation. That's because the process only allows for one track.
The only other suggestion I can make is that if you have a system back up, then you can probably restore the previous versions of FCP X and/or Compressor. and use them for Blu Ray.
    Good luck.

  • CS4 Blu-ray subtitles not displayed correctly

    Hi all,
I have been trying to find anything regarding my issue with Blu-ray subtitles using Google and the search function on this forum, but I could not find anything about it.
I have a CS4 Blu-ray project with one main timeline and a few other timelines (to be "extras" on the Blu-ray). On the main timeline I imported two subtitle tracks from a Text file and chose the default import settings in Encore. The first subtitle track is English and the second subtitle track is Dutch, but it also happens when I just import one subtitle track.
The other timelines (for the extras) do not contain any subtitle track (as they do not require it), but the issue also appears when I only added the main time line (as first play) without any menus etc.
The issue is that at first the subtitles seem to display correctly when a Blu-ray burnt from this project is played on a standalone Blu-ray player (Panasonic DMP-BD30 with latest firmware). However, when I skip to another chapter (using the remote's "Next" or "Previous" button), or fast forward or rewind the video on the player the subtitles are gone and will never return. Also when the main timeline is played without any skipping or fast forwarding etc. the subtitles suddenly disappeared and reappeared after some time.
When checking the imported subtitles in the Encore project's time line display, all subtitles are in place.
Additionally, the Blu-ray player's "Subtitle" button does not bring up a selection of available subtitles (which it does on other commercially available Blu-rays), while the timelines allowed actions are set to "All" (the default).
I have also checked the Encore project's "Sources" folder and found .png images for all of the subtitle texts I imported, so it seems that all subtitles are available.
Does anyone have seen this issue before and know how to solve it?
Note: it might be of interest that the main timeline is a single H.264 encoded video file of approx. 7Gb playing for approx 45 minutes. The format is 1080/50i (PAL HDV in the resolution 1440x1080).

The short answer is that you can't use a subtitle menu successfully until Adobe does an Encore update which was working in a special build that I saw at NAB but never made it info a formal release.
The problem is that the generated Blu-ray instructions for selecting the subtitle (and audio) tracks is just plain wrong. The way it was supposed to work is that a GPR (general purpose register) was supposed to retain the selected value, but among other things the code always immediately clears the register after saving the correct value.
There was a similar but different problem in CS4 and we devised a solution with our BluStreak Premaster application, by post-processing the Encore build folder prior to burning or replication.
    http://blustreak.dvdafteredit.com/
However to fix the CS5 code would require re-multiplexing of the menus, at which point we gave up, since we don't have a Blu-ray multiplexer. Don't consider going back to CS4, however, since in most other respects the CS5 navigation is far superior.
So your best bet is to ping on Adobe and ask them, when are you going to release this fix?
With these bugs, the only way to properly set audio and subtitle tracks is with the remote functions themselves, or by using set stream and link directly to the main video from a normal menu.

Hi , I bought Adobe Premiere Elements 13 while and when I using the software to create a Blue Ray disc, the final disc is not function at all after write. I have the same problem in Adobe Premiere Elements avuto 12. I try to use the software on the another computer and I have the same problem. Another problem is that the software writes up to 70% not 100% of the disk to create a Blue Ray Disc. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve these problems? How can notify the Adobe software on these issues? Thank you.

    Thanks for the reply.
    1. You say that you are using the Quality area with check mark next to "Fit contents to Available Space", but what are the readings there
for Space Required and Bitrate when you have your Blu-ray disc in the burner tray and you have Status = Ready in the burn dialog?
What capacity disc are you using - BD-R 25 GB or BD-RE DL 50 GB?
    2. I understand that you have Premiere Elements 7 and can create a Blu-ray disc format with disc menus on Blu-ray disc with it. Is 7 on the same computer as 13 and using the same burner and disc?
    Did I understand correctly
    a. You can create the Premiere Elements Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc WITHOUT menus and you have no problems with playback on your player, but you cannot do that if you include the disc menus?
If that is the case, what specific disc menu are you using? And, how many Timeline menu markers have you placed on the Timeline beforehand?
How many main menu pages and how many scene selection pages results as a result?
On the Blu-ray format on Blu-ray disc with disc menus that are failing, is the preference for Intel HD Graphics 2000 and Higher enabled or disabled?
If your Timeline content will be generating a Blu-ray ISO Image greater than 1 GB, there can be more problems. Please see
