Lack of conformity with ID3V2.3 standard as regards multiple artists

Hi there!
It is defined in the informal standard for audio tags ID3V2.3 (http://www.id3.org/d3v2.3.0) that multiple artists can be listed as independent, coequal lead performers in the text information frame TPE1 ("lead artist(s)/lead performer(s)/soloist(s)/performing group"). The "/" character is meant to be used to seperate the individual entities.
In this regard both the iPod an iTunes do not adhere to the ID3V2.3 standard and misinterpret audio tags which have been formated as described above: multiple artists in the TPE1 frame are mistaken for a single entity, thus leading to problems with the sorting of tracks. Example given: a duet by John Doe and Jane Roe (TPE1: "John Doe/Jane Roe") is not listed under John Doe on the one hand and Jane Roe on the other hand, but credited to the non-existing new artist "John Doe/Jane Roe".
Other text information frames seem to suffer from the same erroneous (or lack of) interpretation of the "/" character, or rather from the failure to support multiple entities in a text frame.
In various scenarios workarounds such as characterizing songs to belong to a "compilation" or defining an "album artist" are not helping and they generally cannot make up for the non-compliance with the open and widely accepted ID3V2.3 standard.
Can one expect Apple to fix this and to establish ID3V2.3-conformity in this matter?
With kind regards!

We are all just your fellow users here and have no inside knowledge of Apple's plans. As you did point out, it's an informal standard, one that seems rather loosely followed.

Your post was very well thought out and written, so you'd be a great person to make such a suggestion.
Best of luck.

  • Primavera with Oracel 11g standard edition ( Connecting multiple databases)

I have installed primavera 8.2 with Oracle 11g standard edition. ( After lots of trial and errors )
I installed / Created two databases using primavera dbsetup.bat file for creating new database.
Data base names are PMDB and PMDB2
Currently i am using PMDB with oracle connection string as "ORCL" and database aliase as PMDB and its working fine
"C:\app\xxxxx\oradata\orcl" this location contains both databases physically
I seek your advice how to modify string to access other database ( PMDB1)
because if i have tried with different aliase name but it connect to same database ie PMDB

Is this P6 EPPM 8.2 or P6 PPM? Are you using P6 client or web to connect to it?
If this is P6EPPM then you can log into P6 Administrator and expand database node, create a duplicate node of it and change the database connection parameters. Save it and try to login using P6 Web. Select the correct database from Advance link below Username/Password.
If this is P6 PPM then define tns entries on your machine for both the databases ans use them to configure P6 client.

  • Help with 'Album View' when I have multiple artists with Greatest Hits...

Hi, I just got a new iPod Nano and I've started to import CD's I've had lying around. I came upon this problem when viewing my list in 'Album View', where Guns 'N Roses and Queen each have a 'Greatest Hits' album. iTunes lumps them both together without showing any album artwork.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • Using BizTalk Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition

    Hi All,
I would like to know what are the Drawbacks of using BizTalk Server Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition.
We are currently using Enterprise Edition.
    1) Are there any adverse performance constraints? Microsoft mentions to use SQL Server Enterprise Edition for "Optimal Performance" but does not expand on the topic.
    2) Any features missing?
    2) Is there a supported way to downgrade SQL Enterprise to Standard for an exisiting BTS Environment?
    Thanks!

    1) SQL Standard is limited to 4 CPU's and 64GB of memory while Enterprise is 8 CPU and 2TB or memory.
    2) The only BizTalk feature dependency on a SQL Enterprise feature is BAM Real-Time Aggrigations which requires Analysis Services RTA.
    3) Yes, but it's not a SQL downgrade really, you would move the BizTalk databases:

  • How to convert large Word 2007 doc (1200 KB) to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard

I'm trying to convert a large Word 2007 document to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard.  It gets as far as 58% and then says it is unable to complete the conversion.  How can I fix this?

The file you are working on is really not that large. There probably is a problem on a certain page of the document. Break the document in half. Try to create a pdf file from each half. Hopefully, one half prints properly and one-half does not. Take the half that does not break it in half.  Try to convert each half into a pdf, etc...
Eventually, you will find which page has a problem. Most likely there is a graphic or a font used on that page that has problem. Most likely a graphic. That graphic will need to be recreated.

  • Acroexch error in Word 2010 x64 with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5

Hello, i get this error when im trying to insert a PDF into a word doument.
In Adobe Reader X it was the Protect Mode but in Acrobat Standard in don't have this Option.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks!

    Dear David,
    thanks for the Answers.
The Problem has our General Manager.
I will try to explain the Problem a little bit better.
Our General Manager had a Windwos 7 32bit with Word 32bit and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5. When he inserted a PDF with Drag & Drop in Word all works fine.
Since he have a Windws7 64bit with Word 64bit and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 he get a Acroexch error. I tried it on my Workstation and had the same error. Yesterday i tried it again on a Windws7 32bit with Word 32bit with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 and it worked.
If i try to insert the PDF as a Object it works on both Systems. I saw now that Adobe Acrobat is a 32bit Version. Is there a 64bit version for Adobe Acrobat 9.5?
    Best regards

  • I Need To Know All Programs/Plug-ins/Files Bundled With CS2 Design Standard Suite

I am the Unit Software License Manager for my office at a government installation. I am in charge of accounting for all licensed software (both the physical CDs and the licenses/serial #s/Registration #s) being used on the computers in my office. Currently, I have a master list that shows all software used, including the main programs, plug-ins, add-ons, settings, toolkits, servers, drivers, etc., on all our stations. I need to break the list down to show which of these programs, etc., were bundled to the CS2 Design Standard suite specifically. Does anyone have any knowledge of the complete list that was bundled with CS2 Design Standard? Thanks.

  • How do you convert an Autocad drawing into a pdf with Acrobat X Standard?

How do you convert an Autocad drawing into a pdf with Acrobat X Standard?

    Something to try -
Having installed Acrobat Standard you have the Adobe PDF virtual printer installed.
From your authoring application do a "file-print" and select the Adobe PDF printer rather than the attached local or network printer / plotter.
    Be well...

  • Have a new Dell Latitude with Adobe X Standard pre-loaded.  Purchased upgrade to Adobe XI Pro today

Have new Dell Latitude laptop with Adobe X Standard pre-loaded.  Purchased upgrade to Adobe XI Pro today and have Serial #.  Installed the upgrade successfully, but it is asking for the Serial # of the previous version...  I don't have that Serial# and in the process of the upgrade it unistalled the old version so don't really have a place to look back to.  What next?

    Hi Dan,
From where did you order the older Acrobat X Standard?
If it was a boxed product then the serial number must be behind the case, else if it was downloaded, login to your Adobe account and check the same.
Else contact Customer care or Chat with a tech support and they would be able to help you.

  • Fi-5220c with Adobe X standard scans multiple pages with first page garbled. Pls can anyone help? MK

Firstly, there's no such thing as Apache 9.3, there's Apache 1 (and subversions) and Apache 2 (and subversions). Your error message -
    Oracle-HTTP-Server/1.3.28Shows you're using Apache 1.3.28
Secondly, I'm confused by your comment -
I do not have Apache 9.3 or higher but I think oracle should offer this in its companion CDOracle does offer the Apache server, if you're saying you didn't get it from Oracle then where did your Apache server come from?
Thirdly, I notice from your config file -
ErrorLog "|E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache\bin\rotatelogs logs/error_log 43200"That you're piping the logs through rotatelogs, are you sure the logfiles haven't just been renamed?

  • Electronic forms with Acrobat 7 Standard

I need to create a form that users with Acrobat Reader can fill out electronically, and then print. They don't need to be able to save their forms or submit them electronically. The requirement is that they simply fill the form out and then print. Can I accomplish this with Acrobat 7 Standard?
    Thanks!
    Luis

No. You will need Acrobat 7 Professional to create the form template. Acrobat 7 Standard does not have form tools.

  • 10.8.3 update kills cd-roms created with Mac OS Standard HFS format

Archived CD's created with HFS (MacOS Standard in get info) would mount and you could copy and open documents with no problems a couple of weeks ago in 10.8.2. But after 10.8.3 update are now mounting but you cannot copy or open the files on them.
Below a CD in finder under 10.8.3, while trying to copy to desktop and trying to open from CD.
Below same CD in finder of 10.8.2. CD contents show with thumnail preview and the document opens from the CD no problem.
Why would Apple drop support for HFS in an incremental update with no documentation able to be found anywhere? Any ideas?

I can't reproduce that. I have a very old backup CD, made in April of 2000 and using the Mac OS Standard format. It works just fine on my 10.8.3 system:
As you can see, I can open an image file on that CD just fine.
It's important to note that home-burned CDs don't last forever. They have a limited shelf life, and if they're being used (and exposed to light) frequently, that life will be shorter. All CDs will eventually fail, and I'm guessing that's what happened with yours. Perhaps they are failing in a way that 10.8.2 could deal with, but 10.8.3 can't? I don't know.
I did see some very strange behavior from the first disk I tried, which was also Mac OS Standard, but was much older (it had no date on it, but I'm guessing mid-90s). Files would show up very briefly, then would disappear from view. Even the Terminal behaved oddly when trying to list the contents. Trying to copy folders to the hard drive resulted in -43 (ie, file not found) errors. It looks like that disk has failed.
