Laptop for Premiere Pro and after Effects

Hello Everyone,
I would like to buy a new laptop to work with premiere and after effects. I found this one at Schenker and costumized it.
Do you think this is a good one? Did I make the right decisions in costumizing?
Thanks!
Marius

  • Optimum workflow for Premiere Pro and After Effects

I have been using Premiere Pro CS4 for three or four years. As I take on more ambitious projects, I have begun learning AE as well, since it offers many capabilities that PP alone doesn't.
I am puzzled about how best to use the two programs, since much of their functionality overlaps.
I typically import my raw footage from the camera into PP and do the basic editing and tweaking as required. I record the audio separately, so I import and sync the audio into PP as well.
I generally shoot in front of a green screen, key out the green, drop the background in, then add titles during the stream.
I have done all this in PP up to this point, but I am looking for the most efficient way to integrate the two applications. It seems to me that rendering a PP project that is linked to AE content takes a lot longer than I am accustomed to.
Can anyone shed any light on the best way to take advantage of the strengths of both programs together?
    Thanks,
    Joe Parsons

If you're happy with the chroma key you get, I wouldn't change a thing.  Oh, maybe I'd make an animated lower-third background or some classy-looking backgrounds in AE.  But if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • Are these video card perfect voor premiere pro and after effect ?

I want to my a new laptop but i don't know what good gpu's are for premiere pro and after effect
    are thise cpu perfect ?
    3GB NVIDIA® GeForce®  GT 555M Graphics Card
    1GB NVIDIA® GeForce®  GT 550M Graphics Card
    1GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 435M GT grafische kaart (Wireless N1000 Card Only)
    1GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 420M GT grafische kaart

None are perfect, for the simple reason that all laptops are handicapped.
The best looks to be the 3 GB 555M. None of these cards are on the supported list, so you must try to hack them. Hacking is not difficult but there are no guarantees it will work and we have not yet seen results from these cards.

  • I need to reinstall my computer, how do I deal with Premiere pro and After effects?

    Hello,
As my question states I need to reinstall my computer (laptop) and I'm not quite sure on how to deal with Premiere pro and After effects.
I am thinking that I need to do some sort of backup and save my projects and footage on a sepparate drive.
If I reinstall my computer, install my creative suit production premium, and move back all of my projects and footage, won't I have to re-link every single clip?
I am currently workning on several different projects and having to re-link everything is something I don't even want to think about, that would take me days if not weeks.
Another option on my mind would be to use Creative cloud. I do have the free version but I have never used it even once before and I'm not quite sure what the purpose of the cloud is and if this is a way to use it.
I have no idea how to go about this computer reinstalation without either loosing tons of work or having to re-link every single clip used.
I am videoediting only as a hobby so I have no experience working with other people and sharing projects or the like, wich is my understanding of what the cloud is for.
Any and all help would be grealty appreciated, I know this is probably really easy but ever since i got my Suit I haven't reinstalled, upgraded och changed my computer so I am just clueless as to how to go about this.
I have Creative suit production premium, I also have the free Creative cloud.
It is only Premiere pro and After effects that I am using and am worried about.
    Thank you for any help.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • Nikon D7000 .MOV files in Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5.5

I recently upgraded from Production Premium CS5 to CS5.5. Initially Nikon D7000 .MOV files used in previous CS5 Premiere Pro project would not play well in CS5.5. Now .MOV files do work in both PP and AE CS5.5. Here are the steps I followed. Not recommending you follow my steps exactly, just providing info for those that are interested.
    1.       Launch Premiere Pro CS5.5 and open previous PP CS5 project, convert project to CS5.5 and rename project file as not to replace previous CS5 project file.
    a.       At this point .MOV files do not play in new project or in AE CS5.5
    b.      Close Premiere Pro and After Effect if still running.
    2.       Using Adobe Bridge CS5.5, batch rename;
    a.       Make copies of original files to new folder location while renaming file extension from .MOV to .mpg
    b.      Let Adobe Bridge finish creating all new thumbnail previews.
    c.       Leave Bridge running in background.
    3.       Launch Premiere Pro CS5.5, let Premiere finish recreating thumbnail previews if needed.
    a.       Attempt to preview existing .MOV file in project. It worked for me.
    b.      Attempt to play sequence containing .MOV files. It worked for me.
    c.       Attempt to play or modify sequence .MOV files in AE CS5.5 via Dynamic Link within Premiere. It worked for me.
    d.      Close Premiere Pro project and AE projects if open.
    4.       Create new Premiere Pro project and sequence
    a.       Import a different Nikon D7000 .MOV file not previously used or renamed.
    b.      Attempt to play this newly imported .MOV file. This worked for me as well.
    c.       The new, previously un-renamed .MOV file also worked in AE CS5.5 for me.
I will perform additional tests but at the moment Nikon D7000 .MOV files are working for me in CS5.5 after initially performing a batch rename in Bridge CS5.5 from .MOV to .mpg and letting Bridge create preview files. Even .MOV files not renamed now work.
An example of Nikon D7000 footage edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, After Effects CS5.5, and Sound Booth CS5 can be seen on my blog, http://stevelandonsmyth.typepad.com/steve-landon-smyths-blog/2011/07/my-first-hd -video-shoot-with-nikon-d7000.html

    Hello,
I see 2 post in this thread from Todd that say they are working on a fix and it should be out soon.  One is from July, the other from August.  It is now Sept 7th and I still see no patches or fixes for any bugs.  I spent 400 dollars on an upgrade, but is this upgrade going to be supported?
This is making me rethink upgrading to the .5's in the future.
It is a minor bug to most, but in that sense it should be an easy quick fix. Am I wrong? Is this really a complicated issue?
I apologize if this comes off like a rant, but thats kinda what it is.  It is not hard to batch rename files, but its a pain to have to relink all those files in PP.

  • How much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on?

This may be a really dumb question, but how much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on if all your video files, assets, disk cache, etc are on different drives than the one the program itself is installed on?
The reason I am asking is that I currently have a "relatively" slow Sata II SSD for my C drive that has just my OS (windows 7 64bit) and programs (adobe editing programs, no games) installed on it and nothing else. All of the files used in my projects are saved on either a very fast Sata III SSD or a slower HDD depending on what the files are. For example, disk cache on the Sata III, stills on the HDD.
Being cyber monday I have the opportunity to buy another very fast Sata III SSD to replace my current Sata II SSD C Drive (just OS and programs). Both synthetic and real world benchmarks show a near double in performance. I just want to know if anyone thinks the upgrade is even worth it because for all I know there won't be any increase in performance since no videos, still, cach, etc will be stored on the C Drive.
The alternative is to get a second monitor because I currently only use one 21" monitor.
I suppose another alternative would be to not buy anything on the cyber monday deals and just save money for something else.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Alex! I think you are right about not being able to notice the difference between the SSDs. I ended up finding a deal to get about $80 off a great monitor that I've been looking at for a while and decided to pull the trigger on it. I thought about it and realized that there have already been a bunch of times where I want to watch a tutorial on youtube and follow allong in AE or PrePro, but have to keep switching windows. I also frequently want to have my video preview on a separate monitor so I can have a taller timeline window. This monitor will help a lot with that. Thanks again for your help!

  • Why is "edit in Audition" greyed out in Premiere Pro and After Effects?

Since the CC 2014 launch, the option in in Premiere Pro and After Effects to "edit in Audition" is greyed out. Right-clicking a clip in Premiere Pro doesn't have an option for Audition. I cannot send my compositions, sequences or clips to Audition for audio editing. I contacted an Adobe Support personnel earlier this evening. They suggested to go into my Mac's System Preferences and enable a root user, log out of my account, log into the root user, shut down and boot up into safe mode. None of these scenarios worked. It is still greyed out, in both user accounts.
Is this a known issue? I even uninstalled and reinstalled Audition. Still nothing. All my Adobe apps are updated. My Mac is updated. Again, never had this issue before.
    I'd appreciate any assistance!
    Thank you!
    Cheers,
    Evan Lockhart

I may have an answer for you, but not sure if my resolution will work for Macs.
First, here's my system and initial info. I'm using a work computer, operating system is Windows 7. I just upgraded to Adobe CC 2014 about a week ago, and I also uninstalled the previous versions of all my Creative Cloud programs after installing the new versions (CC 2014 doesn't just update the previous version, it installs a new program and doesn't automatically uninstall the previous CC programs). Not sure if the uninstall is necessary, for this resolution to work.
Anyway, after I installed Premiere Pro CC 2014 and Audition CC 2014, the Edit Clip in Adobe Audition command was available from the Edit menu in the Menu bar, but was disabled in the right-click menu for the sequence (for the right-click menu, it was visible, but greyed out and disabled). When I tried to use the command from the Edit menu in the Menu bar, it gave me a dialog box to fill out and it created a new folder (titled "Adobe Audition Interchange"). So, the command, when selected from the "Edit menu" obviously uses a different process than the command from the right-click menu. Anyway, I didn't want a new folder created or to fill out a dialog box, I just wanted it to behave like it used to. Basically, when I right-click the sequence and select Edit Clip in Adobe Audition from the right-click menu, it just opens Audition and the audio waveform is visible.
I was able to resolve this and get the right-click command working by reading a couple of articles on this same issue from Adobe CC (not CC 2014) and using those to figure out how to fix this in Adobe CC 2014.
    Here's what I did:
I had to locate my .sesx files in my system. They are NOT in the same location as they were for the previous version of CC (at least, they weren't for me). I had to use the Search command and look for .sesx extensions to locate them.
Found them under the path C:>Users>Public>Public Documents>Adobe>Audition>7.0>Session Templates. Note that (for me), there was a folder titled 6.0 on the same level as the 7.0 folder. I selected the 7.0 folder as that folder contained the most recent set of .sesx files. I checked the 6.0 folder and those were the .sesx files from the previous version, so I deleted that folder just as a clean-up step.
I right-clicked on one of the .sesx files in the Session Templates folder and then selected Open with from the right-click menu. The Open with dialog box displays and provides a list of programs.
I selected Adobe Audition CC 2014 from the list of programs (you may have to browse to find it) and then selected Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. I then clicked OK to submit the configuration command and close the Open with dialog box.
I restarted Premiere Pro CC 2014 and the Edit Clip In Adobe Audition command was now enabled on the right-click menu and was working properly.
I wept with joy..... OK, not really, but I'm always irritated at ridiculous regression errors and a lack of thorough testing of new software versions, so I am happy to resolve frustrating issues.
Don't know if this will help you, or if you already resolved your issue. Either way, good luck!

  • CS2 Premiere Pro and After Effects

I am a student at TAFE in Australia.  TAFE, like many institutions have insufficient funds to upgrade their software.  Anyone that knows Premiere Pro and After Effects will be aware that these programs do not save down to previous versions.  Premiere Pro will not even open output from older versions (i.e. CS3 will not open CS2 output).  I own both CS3 and CS4 versions of these products, but failed a unit last semester, because I couldn't find a copy of CS2 and could not complete my assigments to deadline.  Adobe won't help me.  No retailer can provide a copy of CS2, so I am now appealing to anyone who can assist.
Can anyone provide a CS2 version of Premiere Pro and/or After Effects.
I own both a Macintosh and a PC, but because Premiere Pro on the Macintosh cannot produce AVI files I would prefer to get PC version of that software.  I use Audition (a sound editor for those that don't use it) and have found that Quicktime movies will import into Audition, but when they export they don't have any audio content.

  • I started a creative cloud student membership but Premiere Pro and After Effects are not in the app

I started a creative cloud student membership but Premiere Pro and After Effects are not in the app and won't download from the adobe website, all that happens is that the creative cloud app opens and sends me to the list of programs available for download which still do not contain Premiere Pro and After Effects

Premiere Pro and After Effects are 64 bit only apps.
They require a 64 bit computer and a 64 bit operating system.
If you're running Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 8 32 bit then you will not be able to download, install or run Premiere Pro or After Effects.
    See http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html#desktop-products
Which desktop applications in Creative Cloud require 64-bit operating systems?
With the new CC apps, most of the pro video and audio applications now require 64-bit operating systems to run. These native 64-bit applications include Adobe Premiere® Pro CC, Adobe Audition® CC, After Effects® CC, Prelude® CC, and SpeedGrade® CC. Flash Professional CC, Photoshop CC and Lightroom® also require 64-bit on Mac OS.

  • CS6 Premiere Pro and After Effects download

Is Premiere Pro and After Effects a part of the CS6 Design and Web Premium download? I cannot find PP and AE in my downloads or programs after I downloaded the Creative Suite 6 software. Where can I find them and how do I install to use?

Premiere Pro and After Effects are only included in Production Premium, Master Collection and Creative Cloud.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/buying-guide.html
Both require 64 bit hardware and operating system.

  • Dynamic link between Premiere pro and After effects versions?

I was wondering if it was possible to use the dynamic link between different version of the products like preimere pro cs5.5 and after effects cs5.0, I downloaded the trial of premiere cs5.5 while I already have bought and installed after effects 5.0 a while ago. when I tried using dynamic link with premiere 5.5 with my current after effects cs5, the "replace with after effects composition" in premiere was greyed out. I didnt know if this was just a limitation of the trial, or if the two different versions (PR cs5.5 with AE cs5) were incompatable with dynamic link. hope you guys understand the question, and any answers would be helpful!

Ok so just to get this straight, in order to use dynamic link between adobe premiere pro and after effects you have to have the complete suite? or just the same version installed? all I want to be able to do is have a good workflow between premiere pro to after effects to get my vfx done, and then send them back to premiere seemlesly without spending $2000 dollars on the entire suite just to use those 2 programs and because the suite is way over my budget. is that the only possible way (other than cs6, because I dont have the $$ to update either)

  • CS6 Premiere Pro and After Effects have stopped working :(

After installing the AdobeCS6 I removed CS4 by using the Creative Cleaner Tool. Now Premiere Pro and After Effects don't work and windows wouldn't tell me what the problemm is. The rest of the CS6 is working fine apparently. Do I have to un-install then re-install all the CS6? Is it normal that the CC Cleaner tool do this? ... Thank you!

Advice around these parts is not to remove older versions after you install a newer one, because this is exactly what can happen.  If you want to get rid of an older version, do that before you install the new one.
So yes, you may well need to reinstall.

  • FAQ: What computer and components should I buy for Premiere Pro or After Effects?

See this page for the official minimum system requirements for Premiere Pro.

Note that the minimum system requirements are just that: a minimum to run the software. You will need components that exceed the minimum system requirements to achieve satisfactory performance in many cases.

    As David and Hal said
One thing to consider is that you may also want SATA capability (which you can do with G5 towers easily, the dual cores have cards available or will shortly) and also shortly (fingers cross) for the MacBooks (there are cards for PowerBooks.)
The only possible fly in the ointment is if you are going to hold onto these computers for awhile, with the Intel Chips the non-Intels will eventually have less support and software. Though for the short term (particularly if you are relying on non-Intel native apps and need peak performance) the Quad G5s are great.

  • Why am I unable to install Premiere Pro and After Effects

I have been all through that on the live chat. There is no solution it appears. i am paying a subscription for what i am now unable to use. Even the free trials it wont let me down load on my laptop. I tried on my desktop and it will let me sign into the application manger in creative cloud but half the software is missing. Premier Pro and After effects ( these were the main reason for me doing the subscription). It let me download Photoshop as the free trial which is annoying as i'm paying for it. I tried entering the serial number which said invalid. In answer to your question I am a home user.

Branching this message out to a separate discussion.  If you are missing the option to install After Effects and Premiere Pro then it is due to your computer not meeting the minimum system requirements.  Please see the system requirements for each application:

  • Error code U44M1P34 when trying to update Premiere Pro and After Effects- tried everything, nothing works

I am out of ideas here. I had several program installed for months with no issues. Every update was fine. I haven't moved any installations or changed configurations, etc. I have probably a dozen CC apps installed or more.
Then out of nowhere, I start getting an error U44M1P34 when trying to update Premiere Pro. After Effects updates give me a similar error.
    1. Tried uninstalling these apps, then restarting, then installing again, but no luck. It tells me that installation was successful, but an update failed.
    2. I tried clearing all temp files, etc. No luck.
    3. I uninstalled EVERYTHING Adobe related on my computer. Restarted. Ran the Cleaner tool as admin. Restarted. Installed Creative Cloud then tried to install Premiere Pro. Same problem.
So after all that, including putting my work on hold so I can uninstall everything from my machine and try all this junk, it still gives me an error. I can't update those two programs, and maybe more(hard to say since some programs haven't had updates since this started, so it might be worse than just those two).
I was able to install programs like Fireworks and Muse without issue since these problems started.
I've pretty much read every post of every thread where this error message is at. I've looked at my log files, but don't see anything fatal(please tell me what I'm supposed to be looking for as the instructions given are vague at best).
I just need to get this stuff installed and updated. Any ideas? Since I've literally removed Adobe's presence from my computer, then started from scratch, what else is there to try? I haven't moved ANYTHING to another drive or partition. Everything is in the same place it was since 10 months ago when I started CC.
I'm running Windows 8.1 Update 1 64-bit. 16GB RAM, hundreds of GB of HD space remaining. Geforce GTX760m (also have the Intel 4600 integrated graphics, for whatever that's worth).
I've run both PP and AE  just fine, and they even run fine without the update. But I WANT to update them.
Ideas or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
    Brent

Well, the Adobe rep hasn't called me yet.
The good news though is that it's no longer an issue. Since the 2014 versions of the Adobe CC apps were released today, I was able to install/update just fine. So it was something with the previous update that was broken, or something like that.
FWIW, the new 2014 editions are fantastic so far. Some great improvements that I'm happy with. I just wonder whether this update issue will rear it's ugly head again with a later revision?
Time will tell. Thanks for the help regardless!
