  • What should I do to fix my ipod if it is no longer going into sleep mode, no longer shutting down, and no longer allowing me to take screen shots?

I have tried everything. I have held down the sleep button and home button down for what seems like forever and nothing is working. I don't understand why it is no longer working. Any ideas on what I can do to fix it?

Connect your iPod to your computer and restore the iPod via iTunes.  First restore from backup and if problems persist restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

To rule out any sleep mode issues with the monitor, I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer

  • Macbook spontaneously goes into sleep mode and screen off mode

Hi. My Macbook spontaneously goes into sleep mode and screen off mode with varying time between each instance. It usually goes for a few minutes or even hours without doing it and then will go through periods of fluctuation between the modes. I believe this to have started with a minor orange juice accident rather than it being anything software related.
Any ideas as to how I might rectify the problem? Thanks very much in advance,
    Danny

When you say it goes into sleep mode ...do you mean you actually see the white pulsing light?
It may be that there is an application running (perhaps in the background) that is keeping your book awake. Printer software sometimes does this for example ...try logging out and seeing if it sleeps like that. If it does, then it very well may be a background process running.
You may find some items in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items that may be the culprit.

  • RBDAPP01 going into SLEEP Mode and Idocs still in 64 status

    Hey all,
I have a Inbound Idoc interface which is being processed using RBDAPP01 Program. The Issue I am facing is that the job running the rbdapp01 program goes into sleep mode even though there are idocs present in 64 status. I tried to debug the work process using SM66 but it does not open any debugging window although it says debugging started. If I cancel the Job and run it again it processes those Idocs Any input on how one can resolve this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi Aparna,
Here is extract from SAP material on running RBDAPP01 transaction and possible reasons for delay in processing. HOpe this can help you.
To automate the treatment of IDocs, you must run the ABAP program RBDAPP01 (transaction BD20) in job. This program has a very good option for parallel processing which can reduce a lot the time required for treatment. However use it carefully and make sure you set a packetsize high enough to avoid that your SAP system be overwhelm by demands for available dialog tasks (don't forget one dialog task is monopolized per IDocs packed to treat).
    Best Regards,
    Krishna

  • My laptop randomly goes into sleep mode

I'll randomly be on a site or listening to music and then all of a sudden it goes into sleep mode. I'm very aware that it goes to sleep while you've been away from your computer, but it'll go into sleep mode while I'm using the computer. I changed the power setting so that it takes longer to get into sleep mode thinking that would help, but it doesn't. I ignored it at first but it happens more often now and its getting annoying. Sometimes I'll move the mouse pad to wake it back up and it sounds like its going to come back, bit it just goes to sleep again. Its really annoying and frustrating and I don't know what's wrong with it. Anyone have any idea what's wrong with it and how to fix it? My warranty expired this passed March and I can't afford to get it fixed.

"I put a new anti virus on my computer and the sleep mode problem didn't happen after I removed hazardous files on my computer."
Go to any good anti Virus removal forum, SpyBot S&D, Bleeping Computer, others, and start a thread.
They probably will want you to run a DDS log, ERUNT, follow there instructions!
The forum Volunteers that assist you on these sites are busy and it may take up to 3 days for them to start your thread, have patience, they will help.
You may have inadvertently removed/modified part of your operating system (keylogger/screencapture) when removing the malware.
Do not just rely on a recovery point!
Hope you have recovery disks made, and/or a mirror image.

  • 24" imac goes into sleep mode and lights on circuit flicker

    Hi -
I have a 24" imac and have found that when the display goes into sleep mode the lights on the circuit flicker.
I have searched the web and other users have complained of the same issue with no resolution.
Here is a similiar post - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2606099?start=0&tstart=0.      The resolution is probably you need to get the iMac serviced,  what i'm wondering is what is the problem in the imac that is causing the issue.    Is this a defect?
Before anyone questions the circuitry in my house here is what I have verified.
An electrician has come and verified the electric panel is good and all circuit breakers are good.   All circuits in my house are copper, no aluminum.
I can plug the iMac into any circuit and the problem starts right when the Imac's display goes to sleep.     I have owned the iMac for approximately 5 months now (bought it used) and the problem started about a month ago.
Assuming this has to be serviced I dread to wonder the price .
      Thanks for anyones help.

The sleep timeout has nothing to do with disk activity. It's based on user input, although some background processes can pre-empt it. If you don't want the machine to sleep automatically, disable automatic sleep in the Energy Saver preference pane.

  • Firefox become in Offline mode and unable to open any page and when shut down it remains in processes and freez up, blocking another to be run

When I on my Laptop, Acer Aspire 5735 with Windows 7 Ultimate run Firefox all runs perfectly smooth, all is working as expected, but when I go to Sleep mode or Hibernate (Firefox remains open) after turning on Firefox is not active any more, all open tabs are there but surfing is unavailable. Firefox reports message that it is in Offline mode (but menu File > Work Offline is not checked and if I check it and uncheck it again it doesn't have any impact). Which means If I open new tab and write web address it wont open, if I click any link in opened tabs from before, it wont open anything and it will show message that Firefox is in offline mode. After that I shut down Firefox by using Close(x) button and it disappears from desktop but it remains in memory and active processes not allowing any other instance of Firefox to be run. Finally I shut it down on force (End process) and start another instance and all works perfect. I am not sure is this only my problem with hardware/software configuration so I wanted to share this.

This is a pain but I have resolved it. This is instructions for Windows 7 but it may be the same on other Operating systems.
Note: "''YOUR USERNAME''" relates to the account you log on to Windows with.
    # First go to control '''panel / folder options''' and ''uncheck'' ''''Hide extensions for known file types'''', ''check'' ''''Show hidden files and folders'''' and ''check'' ''''Show hidden operating system files'''' then click ''apply'' and ''OK''.
    # Go here :''' C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\''' and copy the '''Profiles''' folder to your desktop.
    # Go here : '''C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\''' and copy the '''Profiles''' folder to your desktop. You will need to rename this as you already have a Profiles folder so name it '''Profiles2'''.
    # Uninstall Firefox (''selecting to remove all user settings'') then go here: '''C:\Program Files\''' and delete the ''Mozilla Firefox'' folder.
    # Go here : '''C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\AppData\Roaming''' and delete the ''Mozilla'' folder
    # Go here: '''C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\AppData\Local\ '''delete the ''Mozilla'' folder.
    # Open another browser (i.e.'' Internet Explorer'') and download and install ''C-Cleaner'' here: [http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard]
    # Once installed run the ''''Registry cleaner'''' over and over until no problems are detected and exit the application. You may now uninstall it but it is probably one of the best free apps available as it has a better uninstaller than Windows does and controls which programs run when Windows starts without using the 'msconfig' command.
    # Now download the latest version of Firefox with your other browser and install it then run the application once and close it down.
    # Open the ''Profiles'' folder on your desktop and inside you will find one or more folders with a name ending in '''.default''' (i.e. ''uomifhku.default''). Right click each folder and select '''Properties''' to see which contains the highest amount of data or the bigger file size. Once you have done that open the largest folder and make sure there is nothing in there with '''... @security.compass''' written on it. If there is then delete it. Hold your ''left'' mouse button and move your mouse pointer over all of the files to highlight in blue. Put your mouse cursor on any one of the files, ''right click'' and select 'Copy' to copy them all to system memory and then close the folder.
    # Go here: '''C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles''' and find the folder ending in '''.default''' then open it. Now ''right click'' anywhere on the background in the main Payne containing the files and select 'paste'. When prompted to '''Overwrite Files''' and '''Merge Folders''' always accept and proceed. Once done, close the window.
    # Open the '''Profiles2''' folder on your desktop and inside you will find one or more folders with a name ending in '''.default''' (i.e. ''uomifhku.default''). Right click each folder and select '''Properties''' to see which contains the highest amount of data or the bigger file size. Once you have done that open the largest folder and make sure there is nothing in there with '''... @security.compass''' written on it. If there is then delete it. Start Firefox and if all is well you should be working again and it back in the state you left it last without the bug.

  • Sleep mode doesn't shut down (ps off) the computer

    Hello folks,
First, I have no idea whether I should post here or in the NVidia forum.
I have a 790FX-GD70 motherboard with the 6 Core AMD processor, plus 16GB memory, OCZ500MXSP PS
Most everything is working perfectly except for putting to sleep (pw stays on) and Live Update 5.0.077 doesn't seem to work properly (posted in a previous msg).
The problem is that placing the computer into sleep mode (via keyboard custom button), does not power down the computer (ps/fans) as I would expect.
    Have I wired something wrong?
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you

Check in your BIOS settings that Sleep/suspend mode is set to 'S3', and not to 'S1'.
    Thanks very much!
Not sure how I missed this but it now works nicely and wake-up (from sleep) to Win 7 login is now about 2 seconds! Love it!
    Next step, Ubuntu.

  • MBP Goes Into Sleep Mode w/o permission.

I am trying to download a larger file and I leave my computer for a few hours only to come back to the MBP in sleep mode and has shut down all the programs I was running. I set the energy saver preferences to never fall to sleep when its inactive however it still goes to sleep. How do I fix this?
    Thank you.

Got the exact same problem here - I have it plugged into power and my on-power setting says "never sleep" and yet keeps trying to go to sleep (actually I think it is shutdown) when I leave it alone for a hour or two. Most of the time I have stuff running that it can't close automatically so I come back to a window full off dialogs asking for quit confirmation.
Very irritating - is my Mac just trying to be green? Is it somehow thinking its in battery mode? Is there some more obscure setting that will prevent this?
Or is it just a bug...

  • How can I set my mac (and the screen) to not go on sleep mode ?

I just want my mac (and the screen) stay alive for a minimum of 8 to 10 hours, not going in sleep mode (or save screen).  Just displaying a web page without doing anything else. In preference system, energy save is all set to «never», but after a while the screen goes to sleep ... ?

You probably have a corrupt .plist file. To fix:
    1. Hold down the option key.
    2. In the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library
    3. In Library, find Preferences
    4. In Preferences, find com.apple.systempreferences.plist  and drag it to the trash
    5. restart
    6. you will have to reenter your preferences.
Another option is caffeine: Lighthead - Caffeine

  • Updated to windows 10 and now my computer stays black when it goes into sleep mode

I just updated my computer to windows 10. Whenever it goes into sleep mode and i try to move the mouse it just stays black and i have to turn my computer off and then on again. after that it finally works but its just annoying. I already tried updating my card driver, but it said it was already up to date.

My iMac i7 quad was having the same symptoms with the blue screen and long startup times a couple of months ago.  Apple Care told me to bring it in to the local Apple Store, and after some diagnostics, the hard drive required replacing.  It took one day to replace the hard drive and my iMac is running great. I only had the iMac for about 12 months when the drive needed to be replaced.  Not sure if that is your Mac's problem, but it was for mine.

  • How can I select shutdown & close the display w/o going into sleep mode?

I have learned to wait untill the MBP full shuts down before closing the display. In the past I have pressed shutdown closed the display only to find out later the MBP goes into sleep mode before fully shuting down. When I reopen the display the computer finishes the shutdown process or worse the battery is dead.
I would like to select shut down, close the display and walk away while the computer completes the shutdown process.
Is there any setup options or apps. that will allow this?
    Thanks, Joe
    (new to the mac)
    MBP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well hello there, and welcome to Macintosh.
Unfortunately you can't change anything to stop this from happening. The shutdwn process goes about its business killing processes and applications that have been running. The sleep process interrupts ALL business going on in the OS, and puts the machine into low power mode, as it is not aware of the nature of the running processes (in this case, the shutdown process), knowing only that they must be slept and the machine dropped into sleep mode. You gotta wait it out before you close the lid.
I would suggest sending a message in OS X feedback requesting this as a feature!

  • MacBook not going to sleep when connected to WiFi

    Hi there,
my MacBook 3,1 is not going to sleep as long as it is connected to WiFi.
It starts the process of going to sleep as my VNC connection gets dropped but it stays awake. I can easily reconnect.
Everthing else is working fine. Any suggestions?

    Hello everyone,
I'm facing the same syptom. I tried many things and now havw to live with putting the MacBook to slee by hand. I had some other issues just before that:
1: The MB returned randomly from sleep while being closed. That was annoying. I think it was fixed after installing smart sleep and doing some cleanup in the preference files.
2: Then I was put "randomly" to sleep. I figured that came from overheating the processor (thus I'm gld it went to sleep). The fan speed control was set to constantly 2000 rpm. Installing fanControl helped.
3: Lid closing did not init the sleep mode and the backlight is not turning off. Niether does it wake up on opening when I put it io sleep manually (I have to press a key).
The sensor for closing the lid seems to work, if it is the same which controls the maximum brightnes of the sleep indicator light (pulsing). It is darker when the lid is closed.
I wonder if there is some settings tool.
Besides I think the issues started after the Software updates around 12th of dec. 2008, with MacOS10.5.6 and the EFI & SMC firmware updates.
    I'm eager to get answers.
    Kid regards, Ralf.

  • Mac Pro randomly goes into sleep mode

My (mid 2010) Mac Pro, OS X.6.8, randomly goes into sleep mode and I can't wake it, have to power it off and reboot. Just started to the best of my knowledge Friday (Jan 6, 2012) I've had it happen surfing the web in Safari, while working on an illustration in Adobe Illustrator, while running Apple Hardware Test, using 23" LCD connected by HDMI and DVI-D, Disconnected monitor and connected 12" Cintiq (LCD Tablet).
The monitor goes black, says "there's no signal coming from your computer", none of the keys will wake it. I have to hold down the power button until it turns off then power it back up. The time between the sleeps varies, 38min, 1hr 34min, 5min, 2hr 17min, 12min, etc. I disconnected everything (except keyboard, mouse, monitor) still the same. Opened and removed the ATI Radeon HD 5870, and noticed the PRAM battery, replaced it with a new one, thought that fixed it, worked for a long time then it happened again.
Tried Apple Hardware Tester again, it said everything is fine, ran it again an error popped up: 4SNS/1/40000000:Te1S-99.364, wrote it down then it slept.

The next time this happens open your mac and see if there is still a fan running.  If so you are not sleeping, you are in a thermal cutoff.  Keep you mac cover off.
Now reboot as you always do.  Take a look at the fan in your 5870.  Is it spinning?  If so, try to keep an eye on it and see if you can "catch" it not spinning.
When the fan doesn't start, or if it does then stops, the card will overheat and the machine will go into thermal cutoff.  The amount of time is variable.
I speak from experience.  I am currently on my third 5870 video card.  Both the previous two had this fan problem.  The only wrinkle in my theory for you is that I wouldn't expect more that, say, 15 minutes of up time at the most, not hours like you got.  But it may be that your card is starting ok, but stops sometime later.   I chalk it up to the lousy fans Nvidia uses in the 5x70 cards.
FWIW, if you happen to catch the fan stopped before the machine goes into thermal cutoff you can give it a little nudge with your finger to get it going again.
I recommend one of the various temperature monitors.  I use iStat Menus and display some key temps in my menu bar.  Of course after going through two of these cards I am a bit paranoid!
    Some other temperature monitors:
    iStat Pro
    Temperature Monitor
    Hardware Monitor
Note, after typing all this I also realized you got a AHT 4SNS error. I would run AHT again to see if you get that error again.  If so that means "Check Main Logic Board" and you may have a more serious hardware problem than just a video card!  So my other recommendation is that when you machine fails again look inside for any lit diagnostic leds.  There's some near the dimms but there are others on the board as well.
