Large images show up as red boxes?

hello all ---
im looking for some advice/feedback
i designed this website a while back

apparently the images i used in a scoller
show up as red squares on some peoples computers.
( they are extremely long - 20,000 px wide )
it works fine for me - and others - but i just checked on my
friends and am having this problem
could it be the persons internet settings?
would it have to do with flash player?
i would think it has to do with the actual size of the images
- but then why would it work on some computers and not others????
any advice / similar problems????
also - if you check the website and see red - could you post
i want to test the severity of the problem

Known issue with Flash Player 9.0.115.0 that I need to get
documented soon. I don't see a fix coming for this anytime soon
either..
Two workarounds:
Workaround:
1. Switch to lossless compression
2. Slice the large image into smaller images of less than
1024 px (but keep jpeg compression)

After deleting all messages in my inbox and rebooting my Blackberry,
Various emails arrive in my inbox, each containing a large image.
Whichever email I choose to open, it will show the image that it contains, but after that, every other email I view that contains a large image, displays the image of the first email, and not the actual image in the email that I'm trying to view.

I have the same problem. Running Windows 7. This started to happen with in the last two weeks. Even my older e-mails from a year go does the same thing.
Been on tech support twice and have friends of mine over to look it over.
Does not happen on G mail. Happens on my laptop and pc and HTC verizon phone.
Yes, they see it the image as fine. No help from them, verizon.
My images will have an X or show up half grey or like there Fios TV some time all blocks.
I been with them for a long time too. Since they were call Bell Atlantic.
I am at work and I use Clear.com wifi.
Feel very disappointed in Verizon.

In an album, many pictures would show on the screen and double clicking one would enlarge it for adjustments. Now one larger photo shows and along the bottom severa smaller ones. Options which used to be at the top right of screen no longer show. Whel

In Aperture album about 16 photos would show on screen and double clicking on one would enlarge it for adjustments. Now one larger image shows with about 7 photos at bottom. Options for controlling this no longer appear at top right. How do I correct this?

Do you mean the "View" controls are missing in your Toolbar?
To add these controls back to the Toolbar, use the View menu and select "Customize Toolbar". Drag the View Controls back to the Toolbar.

Red Box - Unsupported File Type - Large Tiff - Large Scans - 10,000 pixels

Hello All,
I am a user of Aperture 2.1, and I have grown to love the program except for one major issue. Large files that are imported into the program are simply unsupported.
I scan 6x7 medium format negatives (8649x10712 @ 530.2 megs) and 4x5 negatives (very large drum scans) into my system (new 8 core, 12 gig ram, 512 meg vidcard, 10.5.2) and the issues begin. A thumbnail is properly built. Once the thumbnail is selected, and a preview is built, the image appears briefly and is replaced by a red box soon with the text "Unsupported File Type". If I change views to full screen all I see is a red box with the same text. Ie. I can't work the image.
The files are perfectly fine. I work them in photoshop cs3 no problem, and I can view them with quick look preview no problem.
This is highly frustrating as I work primarily in larger formats and create large prints!
It seems like the bug occurs in files that have a side larger than 10,000 pixels. This is a massive issue to large format/panoramic workflow!
I have called Apple tech support and the techs claim ignorance. That could mean they do not know of the issue which does not bode well for a solution. I'm in the dark. Please shed some light!
Three questions:
Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
Is there a workaround that doesn't involve cutting file size?
Has there been any acknowledgment from Apple support regarding this issue?
I am most frustrated as Aperture is billed as a professional product, but it is unable to keep up with the demands of a working fine art photographer.

William, thanks for your input, but I feel that your position avoids the primary issue. Aperture is a Digital Asset Manager, and as such, should be able to manage digital image assets.
From Aperture's Webpage: "See how Aperture lets you import, manage, and enhance your photos in one simple, integrated workflow." It says photos, not Raw photos. In fact, I'll take it one step further, in the tutorial CD that came with 1.5, the narrator mentions the 16-bit workflow in Aperture with Tiffs, more than once.
I purchased Aperture for management and integrated workflow. Apple states: "Now it’s even easier to cull through shoots, enhance images, manage massive libraries, and deliver stunning photos." No where does it say that the functionality of the program is limited to RAW files. Ie. Apple never mentions that Large .tif files are not supported.
I have 6x7 and 4x5 Scans, Masters, Working Images, Print files and Web images that I would like to organize, stack, label, rate, view versions simultaneously on my second screen, sort, arrange, and keyword. The program's basic functionality is thwarted by an issue that Apple has not owned up to.
If Apple had mentioned in its literature that large .tif's weren't supported I would not be posting this, as I would not have purchased the software. But nowhere, not in phone conversations with Apple Techs (3), not on their own Forums where other end users have hit a massive workflow brick wall, and not even after I mentioned to a One on One guru, has Apple said, oh, yeah, we are aware of it and working on it. There is no transparency here.
Now, I have purchased Aperture, learned it, and imported thousands of files into it. I like the program as I have seen it function with smaller files perfectly, but this large file issue needs to be overcome.
Regarding editing images, yes I use photoshop for the majority of my post-production. I then use a finely tuned Colorburst Rip on a nice Epson for my Fine Prints. Those are the functions of the respective programs. Aperture is a DAM, a program that among other things allows the end use to manage their files effectively and maintain a strong workflow.

JPEGs saved in CS5 show as red box in RoboHelp7

I've been using CS2 at work and yesterday they upgraded me to CS5. Today, I was updating our manuals in RoboHelp7 and opened up one of the jpeg images in CS5, made some changes and saved it. Immediately, in RoboHelp, the image disappeared and was replaced by a red outlined box. I resaved the image with no change. Finally, I opened CS2, checked the settings, made sure they were the same in CS5, and resaved the image in CS5, still just the red box showed in RoboHelp. Finally, I opened the image in CS2, resaved it, and it immediately showed up in RoboHelp correctly.
Is there a way to fix this so that the jpegs saved in CS5 show up correctly in RoboHelp7?

I had the same situation today. I saved some jpeg images in CS5 extended and Advanced JPEG Compressor seem to have an issue with them. Still not sure what the problem is although I did notice that one of the jpegs was in cmyk format. You might want to check that out. Not sure if it has anything to with your problem but it might help.

Video clips don't show up - just a box with a red X

Still images show up fine but video clips brough in either directly or using Send To Color from within FCP don't show up:
1. When I use import it won't bring the clip in at all
2. When I use FCP to send to color it just shows a red square box with a red X through it.

BTW, the clip is a 720x486 D1 Motion JPEG A clip - 5 seconds long @29.97fps. Also, still images don't open - guess they are not supported? Could the Motion JPEG A also be an unsupported format?

Greetings, I am working in Final Cut Pro 7. In the timeline some clips show as offline. I tried going to sequence and reconnecting to media but it does not work. I can still see the video in the timeline and work with it. It just has the red box.

If the clips are not actually missing, you could try to refresh the timeline by using cmd-0 and then going to the timeline options tab. Then select name only where it says "thumbnail display". Press ok to accept the change, then repeat the process to add thumbnails back to your timeline.

Mostly this is a problem in PhotoshopOK, my Photoshop is still a Classic version. I was looking at one or two others, like GraphicConverter, but the only pref there seems to be to generate a Preview if one doesn't exist.

Images not Displaying (Showing as a black box) in Excel 2011 for Mac

I'm using Office 2011 for Mac, on a 2013 iMac with Mavericks (10.9.4).
I have a .jpg image I'm trying to insert in the footer, and it is only showing as a black box. I even tried saving as a .pdf, and it still shows as a black box. How can I fix so that it shows the image?

In iPhoto, my thumbnails show but larger images do not, why?

I am having trouble with some of my larger images not showing up in iPhoto. I click on "Faces" and go into pictures of my mom that I have tagged. I see all the thumbnail images of her, but when I click to view the images larger, it doesn't show the picture. It shouws a triangle with a !
I am running iPhoto '11 (version 9.2.1)

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

About a month ago i bougth Canon EOS 600 D with 18-55 mm and 55-250mm lens and everything goes fine i capture moon images and wildlife pictures as well.
But, now i'm facing some problem with it.
Recently i was trying to capture images with my Canon EOS 600 D and suddenly i noticed that the images are not sharp at all and the images show red and blue spot. I don't know what to do i'm just an ammature in this.
Please any one can help me with this problem.

If you're taking shots of just the moon then the exposure value won't change all that much day to day. I recommend shooting in full manual, use the same settings that you used that gave you images you liked as a baseline. Low iso, nice middle aperture, and adjust shutter speed to fine tune the exposure. The next day you start at the same settings and adjust the shutter speed slightly if needed to account for a change in brightness. Good luck, have fun.

Larger image changed, but smaller thumbnails still show old image

Hi,
I want to change the image for my podcast. I added the new image to my server and added an image tag to my rss file pointing to it. Now in the iTunes store, the larger thumbnail shows the correct image, but the smaller thumbnails in the store show the old one. Do I just need to wait longer, or is there something else I have to do?

For some reason the thumbnails in the Search results take longer to update than the image on the Store page. They're both drawn from the same tag in your feed, so there's nothing you can do except wait: it will probably sort itself out in a day or two.
Edit: actually I just searched on your podcast title and the search results showed the same image as the main Store page.
Another edit: I assume you are talking about the Search results, not what you see when you subscribe? Those images are embedded in the media files, not referenced in the feed. I just downloaded one of the episodes on subscription and I see it has a different image. In order to change this you will have to embed new images in every episode and re-upload them - see here.

Outlook 2013 Images showing red X

In outlook 2013 all the images are showing as a red cross not giving the opportunity to right click them to open or download them. I've emptied the temporary file folder, verified that Outlook secure temp folder exsits and the proxy server authentication
looks okay to me, but it still hasn't made any difference. Any ideas please?

Do you mean the image in message body or the image in contact photo ?
If the formmer, please check the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Cache
Is this the right value? The default one is
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
And we may also try launch Outlook in Safe mode, Outlook takes a different code path and a different API to get the temp folder location.

Showing particular part of a large image

Hi Everybody
There is a large image/map which cannot be shown on the
screen at a time. So I put it on a small screen and want to show a
particular part of the image on the big window which will
dynamically vary with user interaction.
