Large(r) Tools

Part of getting our house ready to sell is power washing all the concrete down the driveway and in front of the garage (my wife LOVES to have a hose in her hand, any kind of hose)
After tiring of "home size" electric power washers that don't last more than one season... and the last one that developed a pressure regulator problem after only 20 minutes... I decided it was time to buy a larger tool http://www.homelite.com/catalog/pressure_washers/UT80993A
She can't start it when it is cold (even though it only took me 2 pulls this morning) but she REALLY likes the 2700 -vs- 1400 PSI compared to the last electric model
But... I had to laugh after starting it this morning... she was not prepared for the greater recoil from 2700 PSI and the first time she squeezed the trigger... she was pushed back a half a step
Now, she knows to brace herself when she is using the larger sprayer... which will be good, because the new house we will build after selling this one will have a 100+ foot concrete driveway, plus parking and turnaround area in front of the garages

Steven,
I completely understand. We both did our service, at a time when there was not much "thanks" going around. That was just the way that it was.
Nowadays, there seems to be, in some circles, a little different feel to the whole thing. United Airlines allows all active military personnel to board in the first, special group, along with their Global Services customers. It WAS "in uniform," but they have expanded that to all active military with I.D. We were in the Gordon Biersch Tavern at SFO the other day, and there were eight uniformed military at two nearby tables. We quietly picked up the check for those tables, and asked that it be done anonymously. One a recent flight to Chicago, the plane was about 1/4 filled with military personnel in uniform. One passenger in FC bought all of the "box lunches" on the plane for them. Just a nice gesture. Now, some passengers in steerage, er, I mean coach, might have been miffed, if they wanted a box lunch, but the flight was only 3.5 hours, so they could survive. I do not know what the pay rate is for a Spec. 4 is, but it's not enough to pay for their service, even if they never are deployed beyond the States. While I would not fault a corporate CEO receiving whatever they are paid, I think that I would gladly redistribute a big part of the payroll for our Senators, Representatives, Cabinet Members and all US Gov lackies, among the members of our military, and especially in any battle zone.
OK, enough of that. Let's get down to business, and discuss "Scary Snakes," or your new camera!

  • How do I change the size of the point tool in an image

    Dear LabVIEW fans
I want to have a very large "Point Tool" in an image display, actually it should cover the whole image as a crosshair. Does anyone know how do this? I've searched among the long list of image properties, but haven't found anything useful.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Lefi,
You can use the Draw Line.vi to create a series of lines corresponding to the crosshairs.  The line style and thickness can be changed using the "pen" input the vi.  I tetsed this out a bit and attached a screenshot of the front panel and block diagram.  I got it pretty close but an extra line seems to be there and i'm not sure why.  I'm sure you can figure that part out
The event case captures a user mouse move event for the picture indicator, the coordinates of the cursor are in the event node but need to be converted to be relative to the picture indicator, therefore the subtraction (this may be where I was off a bit).  The new coords are input to the Move Pen.vi in order to set the current pen position to the mouse position.  Thsi way the center of the crosshairs will be on the cursor.
    Hope this works for you.
    Dan

  • Installing Developer Tools

Unix in a Nutshell, 4th Edition (2005) says this:
    "1.2.3. Mac OS X
Unix-style development tools (compiler, make) are included as part of the larger Xcode Tools package . Boxed distributions of Mac OS X include an Xcode Tools CD. The easiest way to install the tools is to insert that CD into your CD drive.
If your version of Mac OS X is that which came with your hardware, you won't have an Xcode Tools CD. Instead, click on Developer.mpkg in /Applications/Installers/Developer Tools. Doing so installs the development tools."
My OS X (10.6.6) came with my hardware but I don't have any Installers directory. Is there somewhere else I can install these tools? Also, is there something better for me to be reading than Unix in a Nutshell?

Thanks, guys. I loaded Xcode from my Mac OS X Install DVD. In case someone else wants to do this just follow the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3415 except in step 4 click on Xcode.mpkg rather than Optional Installs.
And I am now a registered Mac developer.

  • Elements 8 & 64-bit windows 7--editor shows a bandaid for healing brush; how do I get the circle?

Previous versions of elements would show brush sizes with a circle. Using brackets, you could see the size
increase/decrease. Elements 8 only shows a bandaid for the healing brush, no indication on photo of the brush size. Also, if I set text size to large, some tools show as 3, i.e., 3 hands, 3 bandaids, etc. Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I'm using a laptop with Windows 7, 64-bit. Microsoft says the program is compatible.

Make sure that Edit > Preferences > Displays And Cursors > Painting Cursors is set to Normal Brush Tip.  If that doesn't help, try deleting the Editor's preferences:

This is a known bug in PSE on Windows 7 -- you have to change the Windows display DPI (text size) to less than 150%.

  • Milestone billing with Partial Dispatch

    Scenario..
    1) The material we have is a large machine tool
    2) We create a sales order for stage wise payments and raise down-payment requests for the advance and various stages of manufacture.
    3) The M/c is assembled and checked for performance...
    4) Since the machine is of large size it is now dismantled and dispatches of parts of the m/c take place.
    5) We are not sure at the time of sales order as to what would be final configuration of the knocked down machine
    6) The machine is packed -- child material of various sub-assembles are clubbed together and a packing list is prepared..
    7) Delivery of these packs are made thru PS
    8) Now I want to bill this m/c with   70% of the payment to be realized at the time of dispatch..
However the 70% of the payment to be realized has to billed in 4-5 lots as per the delivery of the individual packs delivered.
How do I Do the final billing ??
    Kindly Help
    Regards
    Somnath

The billing plan for the sales order contains billing-relevant deadlines. As soon as you take away the billing block, you can carry out billing.
In billing those payments already made by the customer should be cleared. This happens because those payments already made are taken into the billing document as items to be cleared. They are set as items, after the billing items to which they refer, in the billing document. When printing (Report RVADIN01 with form RVINVOICE01) the customer receives for the down payment items the text ‘payments made’ printed out. The down payment item value corresponds to those down payments made.
There is no billing: Billing amount - Down payment amount = the remaining amount to be paid. The customer merely receives the information concerning which amount he can transport during payment.
You can change the proposed down payment amount for clearing manually. The reason for this can be that part of the down payment should be proposed for further billing. Calculation formula 48 in the pricing procedure for the condition type AZWR merely checks that the amount cannot be increased.
The down payments assigned to a billing document for clearing cause the system to offset all the completed payments against receivables in Financial Accounting (FI).
The total amount of the final invoice is automatically posted in FI as a receivable, and the allotted down payments are cleared directly (down payment clearing). The transaction is finished with the incoming payment posting and the open items are cleared. Postings made to the relevant general ledger account in Financial Accounting reduce the down payments left to be cleared.

The sales order billing plan also contains the final billing date. As soon as you take away the billing block, you can carry out final billing.

  • How do I make Skype 6.20 interface more compact li...

I just made a big mistake and upgraded to Skype 6.20 on Win 7. The display of contacts is so wdiely spaced that I can no longer manage the availability of my work team by glancing at a small sized Compact view window that displays all of my team (favorites) in a smallish display without needing to scroll. Even with profile pics off, teh display shows less than half the number of contacts in the same real estate due to bigger line spacing and font - both of which do not seem adjustable.
How do I reduce the display font size and Contacts display line spacing OR revert to my old version of Skype? As is, this is not usable for me and my company and as much as I hate to say it, makes Google Hangouts a viable alternative.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you on using the latest versions of Skype like 7.0, these are the settings I've observed people are most interested in to make their Skype function in a more classic mode.  In older releases some of these options will have different names or not exist at all.
    Enable Compact Chat View
"Tools" - "Options" - "IM settings" - Check "Compact Chat View"
    Enable Compact Sidebar View
"View" - select "Compact Sidebar View". When it's enabled there will be a check next to it, when it's not, there won't be.
    Disable large emoticons
"Tools" - "Options" - "IM appearance" - Uncheck "Show large emoticons"
    Disable automatic file downloading
"Tools" - "Options" - "IM settings" - Uncheck "Automatically accept incoming files" or set it to "choose a folder to save the file in every time"
    Disable showing images in conversations
"Tools" - "Options" - "IM settings" - Uncheck "Show images in conversations"
Enable showing timestamps next to messages
"Tools" - "Options" - "IM appearance" - Check "Show timestamp next to instant messages"
Toggle multiple chat windows or a single chat window
"View" - "Split Window View" for multiple chat windows
"View" - "Single Window View" for a single chat window
Displaying Skype credit balance (no longer displayed in the main window)
Your current credit balance can be displayed by viewing your profile in one of the following ways:
    1.  Clicking your display name
    2.  Pressing "Ctrl-I"
    3.  Selecting "Skype" - "Profile" - "Edit your profile"
    4.  Logging into your account on the website ( http://www.skype.com/go/myaccount )
The Skype website generally does not provide/advertise links to older releases.  Most dynamic links will either point to the latest release or the one before the latest.
Below are direct downloads/static links which originate from the Skype website:
Currently the latest version using the new GUI (these may retire if a newer maintenance release comes out):

  • Is PS Touch Adobe's orphan child?

As far as I can tell, PS Touch has not been significantly updated since it first came out: no new features; no updates to the existing ones. Given the increasing popularity of tablets, and the fact that this is one of only a handful of decent photo editing apps on Android, I would hope that Adobe would spend more time with this app.
I have commented a few times on suggestions for updates and features (larger brush/tool size--my main complaint--a few more blending modes (soft light, hue, color), and a curves dialog which looks more like the one in PS and that you can move out of the way of your image), and I know others have made requests as well.
The only responses I've seen are rather vague, but really nothing has changed.
It makes me wonder, has Adobe pretty much abandoned Touch, since they have bigger fish to fry with the cloud and all?
    David.

Warunicorn, I'm glad they responded to your report of an issue, but I still feel that they have not changed the program in any significant way since first launching it.
The most important (and I think fairly straightforward) change for me would be to increase the size of the brushes/tools beyond 200 px. If you're working on any medium or large size image at all, that is really very limiting. It's especially true, since tablets and phones can now take fairly large size images.
I may be wrong, but I think Adobe still looks at PS Touch as largely an entertaining toy, to be used by the general public to "fluff up" their photos, not people who are more serious about photography.
With a few simple changes, they could change PS from an average "just OK" program, to one that has some substance, beyond gimics.
    Regards, David.

  • Graphical scheduling

    Hi All,
I am newbie in thie forum I need graphical scheduling to show the production order start date and due date planning. Is it available in SAP B1 ? If not, how to make it available easily in SAP B1 ? I need it because our PPIC department requires it.
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
The particular feature you're refering to, is not available in Base model of SAP B1.
Please check with your Implementation & Support Partners, for developing your specific requirements in SAP or provide a suitable add-on for the same.
There are add-ons available in the market. Theses addon are developed by SAP Channel Partners. Depending on your requirements you can choose which one to use.
For example – Pre-actor is a scheduling tool which is used by large manufacturing & tool designing industries like Tyco and Microshop is another scheduling addon tool for small companies.
Do contact me for any further information on these products.
    Also, Assign points if useful.
    Thanks,

  • Why do my group nodes jump to the scene root's origin?

The code for my project is too large to post, so I'll try to explain the problem I'm experiencing. I'm creating a graph layout tool as part of larger visualization tool we are building.
The problem I'm having is a group I have positioned using layoutX, layoutY is jumping to the origin whenever we do the graph layout.
Here is the basic flow of the program:
We create a JUNG graph of Circle(vertex) and Lines(edge)
We use JUNG's layout classes to generate a layout for the graph. The layout generates an x, y position for each vertex in the graph within a defined area. Say a 400 by 400 box.
We use the generated positions to set the centerX, centerY of the circles. The lines are bound to the centres of the nodes they go between, so they update automatically.
This is all done to present the initial graph layout. The user is able to select nodes and choose them to be laid out in a new way. This creates a sublayout on the canvas. When the circles are selected we move them to a group position in the exact spot where they were selected. The groups are made draggable and can be moved around the canvas. The lines update, and the circles do not move relative to their parent group's coordinate system. Only their container is moved around inside sceneRoot.
    The scengraph looks like:
    VBox
    Group:sceneRoot
Circles and Lines making up the original graph
    Group: sublayout
    The selected Circles and Lines
The problem comes when we try to do the layout of the selected nodes. We generate a JUNG subgraph. Then we do the graph layout with the subgraph to give the circles it contains new positions. We ask the layout to generate a layout the size of sublayout group. This works. JUNG generates new values for the positions of the Circles. When we set the centers of the circles, the group jumps to the upper left hand corner - the sceneRoot's origin. In my understanding, the group shouldn't move at all. It's layoutX,layoutY have been set and the circles are being positioned relative to sublayout's origin. I can't figure out why the group is jumping to the origin. It should be staying in place.

    I figured it out!
The problem was using a group as the root of the canvas. A Group's bounds are the sum of its children's bounds. This means that a group's bounds will change depending on what is in it. When the VBox laid it out, it would move because of the new bounding box. The fix was to use a Pane. A Pane resizes according to the pref/min/max rules and does not shrink to be the sum of its children. It is a more "solid" container.

  • Do you have a problem with the buttons?

Buttons with multiple options for tools such as the eraser, are hard to activate unless you are very accurate with the pointer.
I think the "hotspot" should be larger so tools flow before you when pressed, and not having to make multiple stabs at the tools.
Any tips to make the buttons work better? I'm new to windows 7

I don't if you have used photoshop before, but when you left click and hold on the buttons (tools) in the toolbox, it takes a split second for the menu of the hidden tools to appear.
You might try right clicking on the buttons (tools) in the toolbox and the menu will appear without lag.

  • Measuring with LVDTs without mains power

Are there any data acquisition solutions to drive and record from LVDT's that do not need 240V power i.e. SCXI chassis. The measurement system will go inside a large machine tool with flood coolant so 240V live power is not good. Ideally I would like to use a USB bus powered system so it is plug and play and low voltage. The measured items are moved on a pallet shuffle system, so the wiring either power or sensors must be unplugged easily.
Or are the any precision linear distance devices similar to LVDTs which can be used with a NI USB DAQ system. There are to record any physical movement of a component in process. Resolution 10 microns and sealed against water and swarf.
    Regards
    Simon

What you might wish to consider is using an FM system and a transformer to isolate the signal from the system.
If you use a carrier based system (FM) then you will obtain a high degree of noise immunity and by using a transformer you will obtain safety isolation and protection to a required international standard.
Lucas Schaevitz manufacture a conditioning module that meets the above requirements and I believe that Solatron do as well.
I have used both of these manufacturers equiment for many years and found both to deliver excellent products.
LVDT's don't last for ever so try to accomodate the life of the item (the bearings wear out eventually and coolant is horrible stuff even in these days of highly filtered coolant).

  • ACROBAT XI Pro -EDIT TOOL SET  - POP-UP WINDOW IS TOO LARGE

    Good Day -
I've been experiencing very nagging problem since installing recent Acrobat Xi Pro uodate (on windows 7 system):
Specifically - I cannot edit/change the TOOL SET to include needed TOOLS (i.e., that were all previously in my Tool set) as the EDIT TOOL SET WINDOW (i.e., pop-up
window) is TOO LARGE and does not allow scrolling/ or moving down to SAVE  any tool sets and or tool set changes. Very frustrating as all attempts (and recommendations from reviews/support) for decreasing the size of EDIT TOOL SET WINDOW (popup) in order to save (i.e. include ANY) tools have been unsuccessful.  So for past week I've been unable to include/use any TOOLS for working in (i.e., editing/commenting etc) pdf's.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Would greatly appreciate any / all steps & recommendations for fixing.
    Thank-you!

First, make sure you are on the latest update 11.0.09. Help->check for updates should get you there.
If check for updates says that you have the latest, see if the setting: Edit->Settings->General->Basic Tools->Scale for screen resolution and try various options (you'll have to restart Acrobat with each selection)

  • Tool icons, navigation, elements need to be larger for those that want it

I have read through many forums from May 2012 right up through the current ones about this issue. There are a lot of Photoshop users who are complaining about the size of tool icons and other elements as being way too small. Then there are others who defend the size of Photoshop and some who say the icons haven't really changed. Finally, there are some who say Adobe will not do anything about this.
Let me offer a perspective as a 15 year user of Photoshop and other Adobe products. Under the earlier versions of CS, Photoshop would follow the Windows sizing instructions inputed by the user. So if we wanted everything to be large and 150% of normal size, Photoshop would follow those instructions regardless of the monitors resolution. In CC especially, it appears Adobe has abandoned any connection in its software to what the user has defined in Windows about sizing. This isn't so much about the actual size as defined in Adobe's code but how those sizes vary or don't vary based on Windows settings.
This is no minor matter. We are now working on a high resoltuion, 23" Apple Cinema Monitor at top resolution. We do that to get maximam clarity. At the same time, we know that we cannot possibly use any software that looks as small as it would in that resoltuion without adjustment. So we turn around and crank Windows up to maximum oversize in every setting that exist. The result is that desktop icons show at the size we want and other major software also shows at the size we want. The best example is Cubase which is a professional digital audio workstation. Cubase is to muisic what Photoshop is to images. Both highly professional tools. The difference is that even in high resolution, Cubase defers to the Windows sizing. All the icons, menus, navigation bar, track workspace and more are very large just like the icons on our desktop.
This means that we know it is possible and not difficult for all software to follow the Windows settings inspite of the native resolutlion. So far Adobe has chosen not to do this. Below is a screen shot of PS CC on our monitor (actually 2 monitors with Apple Cinema on the left where PS is). Unlike all the screen shots that have been shown by others during the last 18 months, we made sure that our desktop icons could be clearly seen as well. Notice the size difference between PS icons, navigation and elements versus our desktop icons. Cubase looks like our desktop icons. So why can't PS?
It is our recommendation that Adobe do the following immediately. You can't ignore 18 months or more of complaints from a large number of users without addressing the problem. The world has gone to high resolution monitors but for many of us, we need the size of software to be larger than the native resolution we are using. It's not a matter of dropping the resolution. That is not desirable and not necessary based on our actual experience. That produces other types of problems with lack of clarity that don't work. Try to select a single strand of a sound wave when there are one hundred a second in low resolution. We need the resolution but we also need the software to show larger for those that want it. For those that don't, you may be happy but why should everyone else be unhappy or unable to use the new software.
    1. Provide a yes/no option to allow Adobe CC to follow the Windows sizing settings inspite of monitor resolution. Those that don't want to do this can leave it no. Those that want it can turn it on and make the entire program look bigger.
    2. Provide internal CC settings to increase the size of any and all visual workspace elements and tools on a percentage basis for maximum flexibility. There may be good reasons why some people don't want to change their Windows sizing but do want to increase the visual size of CC programs.
Frankly, this is not rocket science and I'm amazed Adobe didn't jump on solutions after the 2012 forum discussions. To hear from people that nothing is gong to be done is scary for the user and should be scary for Adobe since it could result in losing customers and sales. Let's make this program work for all users on all resolution monitors in the way they need it to work. Other major software companies have done this. Why is Adobe the odd company out on this.

Thanks for your thoughtful answer. I do appreciate the issues here.
I'm aware of the problems in how applications work in an OS when that OS keeps changing (too much?!). Yes, this could be very consuming from a resource perspective and could take some time.
That's why my second recommendation addresses this problem without having to worry about the OS. It is not a huge resource or time issue for Adobe to provide internal sizing controls for all aspects of its software that have nothing to do with the OS or the resolution of monitor. We've had that sizing control for how big the file we are working with shows on the screen since Photoshop 1.0. I am aware of applications that added such sizing controls over 10 years ago and one of them over 15 years ago. This isn't new.
So let's put aside the disucssion about the OS and just focus on a way to define how big the entire PS program shows including all tools, elements and navigation on a percentage basis. Just an addition to the internal Preferences of the program itself. If I want PS to show at 200% or 300% of it's standard size, let me do it
The time and resources to add this to the program are not huge. Further, since this issue has been discussed for a long time, it should have been much higher on the priority list. If I was running product development, I would have made this a mandatory part of the introduction of CC. The number of complaints are simply too high to ignore this or say that it's going to take time. That tells me it's not a high enough priority on the development list.
Let's remember that for every person who does complain on these forums, there are a hundred or more that don't but are experiencing the same thing. The small size of PS tools, icons, elements and text is simply unacceptable to too many users for it to have gone on unaddressed this long.

I did the back up as instructed... Installed a larger hard drive and followed the restore instructions... Now I get a white screen with a folder icon and blinking question mark. When trying to set startup with new drive I get a bless tool error... Help!!

If you have installed a new hard drive , you will need to have formatted it in Disk Utility correctly. This may explain your problem.
Boot  into your 10.6 Install disk again at the top menubar > Utilities > select Disk utility and in there select your new hard drive, and select the tab Erase and choose to make the format as  Mac OS Extended Journaled. When that is finished look in the main window to make sure that the partition map scheme says GUID Partition Table.
Now go to the Restore tab and reinstall from your backup.
