LASERJET 100 MFP M175MW scanning legal size document problem

I am on a Macbook Pro, running OS X 10.8.5. I am also using the HP Scan software 4.0.
I am having problems scanning a Legal Size document. It always cuts off the bottom portion, acting like it was only us letter size.
After loading a document onto my scanner/printer:
I open the HP Scan software,
       Select the Scan Button
Change the Crop to US Legal in the dropdown area.
        Continue
Then when I look at the image scanned in, it is not complete.
Is there something else I need to do to make this work, maybe a setting on the actual scanner/printer.
I have tried to read all support documentation possible and I cannot get this to work. I even updated all my operating systems upgrades, but I am not running Maverick yet.
I would be thankful for any help at all.
Thanks!

@MAMAC4
To my knowledge the only way you can scan legal is from the ADF, have you tried that? If you are trying to scan legal sizs docs from the flatbed than you will experience the cut off that you are stating in your post.
Please try to re-scan the document using your ADF feeder and see if this will solve your issue.
Thank you.

  • Unable to Completely Scan Legal Size Documents with Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I am trying scan legal sized documents on my new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I have reviewed the forums, and this has been a recurring problem in the past (see link---  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Scanning-Legal-Size-Documents/m-p/35416#M14...   ), but does not appear to be resolved. Whether I use the document feeder or the glass, the document is cut off at the bottom, and appears to be stopping at the 'A4' size, vs. legal. I cannot locate any setting on the scanner itself, or in the HP Utility software to change this, or even to be able to identify the current setting, if it is one.
I am using a Mac Pro, system 10.6.8, just installed and started using the printer a couple of days ago, and everything is up to date software-wise. Everything else on this machine has been working beautifully.
Can anyone identify what's going on here and how to correct it?
Thanks for your help--I specifically chose this particular unit over the next model down due to the legal sized glass/bed, and if I can't use it to scan legal docs, well, that's a problem. Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
    Please try the following steps:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
    7. Click OK and try scanning again.
Please let me know of any change,

How do I scan a legal size document on my new HP Photosmart 6520? Glass size is letter size. Is there a document feeder above the paper tray? Not working so far. Thank you.

    Hello kurebeach1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you would like to do legal size scanning on your HP Photosmart 6520. After checking the HP Photosmart 6520 Product Specifications, the biggest scanning size is 8.5 x 11inches, the PS 6520 does not support legal size scanning.

  • How to scan legal size document with Adobe Acrobat 6.0?

How do you scan legal (8.5 x 14.0) size documents with Adobe Acrobat 6.0.0 ? There is no option for that size paper in the scan menu. And I can't find the answer in either my help file or on-line with Adobe.com. Can anyone help me?

I use a HP OfficeJet G85. I have no problem copying/printing legal (8.5 x 14) size documents with that all-in-one unit. So I assumed it should be able to send the image it collected to my Adobe Acrobat program instead of to the printer. Am I missing something? Or should I put the question to HP instead of Adobe?

  • I am trying to scan a legal size document from my Canon printer onto my MacBookPro. It scans the document as a letter size.

I am having trouble scanning a legal size document from my Canon printer onto my MacBookPro. I have set the printer paper size option to legal size on my printer. The scanned document comes through as a letter size document after scanning. I do not see an option in iPhoto to change the paper size.
    Can anyone advise?
    Thanks.

Experience has taught me that it pays to be very precise and specific when dealing with computers. Precisely and specifically, what you describe is impossible. It is impossible to scan a document (of any size) with a printer.
I surmise that you are using an all-in-one, ie, an apparatus which combines a printer, a scanner, and sometimes a fax machine, in the same device. That takes us to the next step -- the page size set for printing is used for printing -- it has nothing to do with scanning. It may be possible that Canon provides software which synchronises page sizes used for printing and for scanning, but we don't know what applications and drivers you are using…

Hey there @jadoue , welcome to the forums!
Yes, you can scan a PDF as legal size and save it. Check out the screen shot I posted below as an example of what you are looking for in the printer software that is installed on your computer.

  • Scanning different size documents.

I need to scan letter and legal size documents into one PDF. I have adjusted the presets to Automatic in the paper size section but it only scans them to letter. Help!

    HI @wildabouthusker ,
I see that you are experiencing issues when scanning from the ADF, but not the glass. You are getting a black line right in the center of the document from top to bottom. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
I have provided a document for cleaning the ADF glass and the white plastic strips. Disregard the model, it should be similar to your Laserjet M177fw.

  • Scanning legal size on Pro 8610 printer

I have tried everything and can not scan legal size on this printer. It does not have a setting gear icon after you push print like it does when you push print. If you use the feeder on top it does not automatically detect the size, it always scans letter size. This HP printer has been the most frutrating printer I have ever had. I continually disconnects from my computer, I constantly have to reload it with the disk. I cannot initiate that scan from my computer so that I can select legal, because it wont set up. Frustrated, can anyone help me? Thanks

Hi, No, it does not know. You have to tell is to scan legal size. Please use option from your computer:             Regards.

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw Scanning

I bought and jsut setup an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw.
We are a Mac household, and we connect via wireless to the printer, which works great.
My issue is scanning.  On the little screen on the printer, I can copy, print and even fax.  No option for scanning.  There is some bullsh*t app that I've had to download via HP called Readiris, which is useless.  There is no apparent way to initiate a scan via this app.
So I've bought a multifunction printer that doesn't scan.  Any help?

    It doesn't scan?!
Below is the text from the first page of the first link one clicks on about this printer.  How _on earth_ is one supposed to deduce pre-purchase that it doesn't scan from the main menu?  Argh.  As an HP employee myself, this is aggravating in the extreme.
Ok, venting aside, this link <http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03967506#N229> is not offering a solution.
I am running OSX 10.9.1. I am unable to find the Full Driver to donwload in order to connect to this printer in a manner that would enable any of the 3 methods of scanning (Via Preview, Image Capture, etc.) to work.  Can you please provide a link to the Full Driver for this MFP M177fw for Mac OSX 10.9?  Thanks.

  • HP LaserJet 100 colorMFP M175nw scanned images are too bright

    Hello!
Is there a way to change scanner's default image color correction as currently all of resulted scanned images (text documents, graphics, photos) are unnaturally too bright?
I had another HP Ink Jet printer also with scanner and all scanned images have good color correction there.
So I think there is a problem with my current one.
Does anyone knows how to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hello, Futoji!
    Sorry for big delay.
I did what you've told me and now I am wondering about what I see.
    1) To scan documents I use both HP Scan and Apple Image Capture with default settings (no color correction).
Well it does not matter, though, because I see bright pictures right after scanning them.
    2) I scan documents from flatbed (not feeder), well it is the same for feeder.
    3) So, what I noticed was that printer scanned document and printed it almost exactly as it was only using hardware buttons on it.
But when I did scan using both programs above the same document, it was getting too bright to be real... When I printed such scanned image the result was accordingly bad.
So, what I think is that this scanner works differently for hardware buttons and software or applies some filters on the resulted image...
I found 2 similar posts to mine, they are describing the same problem for different printers, but unfortunately they didn't seem to be solved.
