Latest java plug-in

I'm trying to play monopoly on pogo.com and they keep asking for me to update my java plug-in... i have the latest version and it still keeps asking me to update it... what do I do?

Thanks much to whomever deleted my reply to DFelice. Apparently someone who moderates the support forums doesn't like inconvenient truth...that is...the plugin page is seriously broken and my link in this thread to the same issue in another thread was removed along with the whole post. ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/944115 )
Is this a support forum? Or is there some unwritten protocol that we must walk on egg-shells. That is just plain wrong. '''It is the same issue affecting two different plugins, Flash and now Java.'''
At least is was here long enough for DFelice to hop over and reply in the above linked thread.
I don't write these things because I "hate" Firefox, but because I love it and want to see it not slip away into Opera land. So here is positive feedback as well. Firefox has the best "View Source" of any browser, it will actually point out coding errors and sometime suggest where the problem is which is extremely useful to webmasters. The latest Firefox has fixed a font rendering problem which is something I addressed in a post a few months(?) ago in the support forums here and now it is fixed and is on the "same page" with all the other browsers in terms of font rendering. So that is cool.

  • I've successfully updated latest Java plug-in to latest version but Mozilla plugin page shows it's still outdated

Mozilla Plug-in page showed Java was outdated and needed updating. I did do that but the plug-in page still shows Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.90.5 10.9.2.5 & Java (TM) Platform SE 7U9 10.9.25 as being outdated. But when I go to my add-on page and check my plug-ins, those are both showing up as being installed and enabled and the date I updated them on which was today 12/12/12. Also I went to www.java.com to check what the latest version was and when you click on downloads it automatically checks to see if you are running the current version and it says I am running the latest version. I even went and uninstalled some old java updates that I forgot to remove in my programs. Should I just ignore the *outdated* plug-in reminders for those two on Mozilla's plug-in page since everything else is telling me I did it correctly? Thing is, how do I know when there is a new update if those two never update and consistently show they are outdated? Thanks to anyone that may be able to answer this question.

  • Java plug in problem

    hello friends.....
...i m using html converter for java plug in ....and tried to convert a jsp page .but jsp still not showing the applet. and there is not any changed occured in jsp file.
please tell me what may be the reason??

ok lemme be more specific abt the question.
There was this class that was compiled using earlier versions of java. I had to make some change to this class and it was only by chance that I had to compile the same class using j2sdk1.4.0. When I try to access the applet from a html page on the client machine it says that the class is not found. And when I install the latest java plug-in, it works fine. I would like to make this applet independent of the plug-in.
I understand from the above replies that I need to compile my class in a lower version of java and make it independent of the plug-in. I would like to know if there is a better way to this.
    Thanx for ur time.

  • Minecraft says that I need a new Java plug in but I can't find one from Support.  I thought Mountain Lion had the latest java.

I have just installed Mountain Lion and now cannot access Minecraft.  It is telling me I need another Java plug in, but I thought that Mountain Lion includes the latest java.  Has anyone else experienced this and do they know how to get the plug in?

    Hello:
Have you run software update after the install?
In any event, go to utilities>java preferences.  Open that and follow the prompts, if any.

  • Java Plug-In's SSV Helper 2, Start Detector - are not Verified

I have the following Internet Explorer Add-ons relating to Java...
I had an old version of Java, something like 1.5 or 1.15 ? - it was from 2006... then i installed the latest version of java from the official java website (where i had to say yes to installing add-ons / active-x controls even before the download begun)... my new version is Java version 6 update 10, (build 1.6.0_10-b33). i think i uninstalled the old version of java first.. it left some files in its installation directory so i manually deleted them after i had installed the new version though, it had its own folder with the version number as its name, a different folder for each version.
These are the java plug-ins i have...
Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper (Not verified) Sun Microsystems, Inc. jp2ssv.dll
Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper Sun Microsystems, Inc. ssv.dll
JQSIEStartDetector Impl Class (Not verified) Sun Microsystems, Inc. jqs_plugin.dll
i guess the SSV Helper (the first one, not 2) was the old version of java.. and the other two are the new version.
My question, why are they not verified, is this normal, a danger/problem... considering the old java version add-on is verified.
Also what do these add-ons do?, are they needed.
    thanks.
I have windows xp home.sp3??? - its fully auto updated... internet explorer 7.

Exactly .. I have way too much Java stuff in my add-ins that is NOT verified and am having problems deleting that which I may not need
I wish we did not have to be a "developer" just to have the latest version of Java working on our systems. I realize more reading has to be done but for someone like me who has so many versions of Java and can not find out why this is so .. and how many I need in order to just prowse the web in the latest version of Java .. it is time consuming to have to go thru these Java add-ins and time consuming to have to want to remove older versions of Java.
Sorry for the nit picking but it is valid for those of us who don't want to know all of this stuff.

A IllegalStateException is thrown when the class loader
try to load a class from my applet JAR file.
The applet is embedded in a JSP page which use the Plug-In 1.4.0.
That JSP is hosted by Tomcat 4.0.1.
The applet JAR file is signed with a self-signed certificate.
The applet has been compiled with JDK 1.4.0.
The jar has been put in the Plug-in cache successfully.

I've got a very similar error, but unfortuneatly I don't have an answer yet. The only difference is that my Applet is embedded in a standard HTML page, and loaded via Apache. Once the Applet runs, it then communicates with the servlet via Tomcat. I also exchange data with another server task via CORBA.
But everything else is the same, self-signed applet, applet compiles successfully, and jar is being put in the Plug-in Caceh successfully.
I have narrowed the problem down a bit, and maybe you can tell me if you're in a similar situation:
In my case, I need to encrypt the data that I'm sending through CORBA, so I create a Cipher object using Cipher.getInstance(). This method call seems to be the catalyst of my troubles. No matter where I move that call in my code, the next time the code tries to instantiate a class defined in my applet jar file after that "getInstance" call, I get the "zip file closed error." It's like the classloader is confused, because the Cipher.getInstance method would be accessing a different jar file or something. Are you trying to do something similar? Maybe not creating a Cipher, but creating some other object defined outside your own jar-file?
To top it off, if I disable caching in the Plugin control panel, everything works fine. But that's not really an option for me, since it slows things down a lot, and I can't make all my users go into their control panels and disable caching. But at leasts it makes me confident that there's not a problem with my code.
In my latest attempt to circumvent this problem, I even put the Cipher.getInstance() call in a static initializer. Here's the stack trace from that attempt:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: zip file closed
    at java.util.zip.ZipFile.getEntry(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.jar.JarFile.getEntry(Unknown Source)
    at sun.plugin.cache.CachedJarFile.getEntry(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.jar.JarFile.getJarEntry(Unknown Source)
    at sun.misc.URLClassPath$JarLoader.getResource(Unknown Source)
    at sun.misc.URLClassPath.getResource(Unknown Source)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
    at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
    at sun.plugin.security.PluginClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)
    at com.uss.wbi.client.WBIClient.<init>(WBIClient.java:404)
    at com.uss.wbi.client.WBIApplet.init(WBIApplet.java:122)
    at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
In other words, since the getInstance method is in a static initializer, the next thing to run is the applet.init(), which is what is failing now. If I move the Cipher.getInstance method into the client constructor, the next time I instantiate a new object, I'll get the error there.
Has anybody else seen anything like this? Or does anybody know how I can flush the Cache from the applet code? Or can I reset the ClassLoader in some way in the code?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Well, I finally came to a solution that is acceptable at least to me, if not ideal. I've started using the BouncyCastle lightweight API. This makes my code somewhat more complicated, and I had to bundle up all the BouncyCastle classes that I'm using into a jar file, and download that to my applet along with my client jar file (after signing the jar files). Using this Lightweight API bypasses the Cipher.getInstance() method all together, and is a little harder to use, but at least everything is working consistently now.
I still believe this to be a bug either in the ClassLoader or the Cipher.getInstance() method. I intend to try to write a test applet that reproduces the error in a more simple way and if I can pull that off, I'll submit a bug report to Sun.
    Thanks to all who responded!!

  • Java Plug-in 1.4.2_01 error

    Hi,
Sometimes when I access certain websites with java programs I get the following pop-up error
"Java Plug-in 1.4.2_01 is not installed properly". It then asks if I would like to open a new browser as the one I'm using apparently won't support the version of java needed for the applet.
    I'm using IE 6.0
When I click on the Tools --> Sun Java Console I get the same Java Plug-in error.
    I have installed:
    Java(TM) 2 SDK, Standard Edition Version 1.4.2
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition Version 1.4.2 (j2re1.4.2_01)
in different folders. Could that be the conflict?
Should I just uninstall/delete both of them and reinstall another version?
    Any help is much appreciated!

Yes, I would uninstall the JRE and the SDK and reinstall the latest version, J2SE SDK 1.4.2_04. In my experiences, during install the setup application asks me if I want to use this JVM with the browsers it finds, IE and Netscape. I always leave the boxes checked for both browsers and that seems to do the trick for me.

  • Java Plug-in Update on Oracle AS

    Hi All,
On my test Oracle Application Server where I have Discoverer installed, I updated my configuration.xml file, but when I log into the Application Server Control as ias_admin and navigate to the Discoverer Plus (Application Server: disccoverer.appsvmrpt02.cm.charter.com > Discoverer > Discoverer Plus), I receive the following error:
An error occurred:oracle.disco.oem.configuration.DiscoConfigurationException: Cannot find element: configuration See base exception for details. Resolution: See base exception for details. Base Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException null
Here is my jvm element from my configuration.xml file which I updated:
    after:
    <jvm name="sun" classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0012-ABCDEFFEDCBA" plugin_setup="http://appsvmrpt02.cm.charter.com:7778/jpi/jre6u12.exe" version="1.6" versionie="1,6,0,mn" type="application/x-java-applet" plugin_page="http://java.com" disco_archive="disco5i.jarjar" d4o_archive="d4o_double.jarjar" />
    before:
    <jvm name="sun" classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA" plugin_setup="\\cm\sys\Tools\MIS_Utilities\Java\Java 6 update 12\javainstall.exe" version="1.6" versionie="1,6,0,mn" type="application/x-java-applet" plugin_page="http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_06/index.html" disco_archive="disco5i.jarjar" d4o_archive="d4o_double.jarjar" />
I did confirm that this element is well formed prior to inserting/modifying.
I also tested the plug-in url by placing it in my browser and this works fine.
I tried to rollback, but I get the following error when I navigate to the Oracle AS Discoverer Plus Configuration page:
An error occurred:oracle.disco.oem.configuration.DiscoConfigurationException: Cannot find element: configuration Base Exception: The requested Entity was not found. Entity Path [system/configuration] not valid. Check log to see if the PlugIn was loaded Resolution: Contact Oracle Support.
I did submit a SR and Oracle is advocating applying CP6. One would think we should be able to rollback (our production box works fine with this set-up).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Patrick
    p.s. Here is my configuration:
    System configuration:
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.3)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)
    Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.55.26

    Patrick,
    1. You may want to use the family classid so that it is not coded to a specific minor version
    "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0012-ABCDEFFEDCBA" vs. "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
    See Oracle's technical note:
Recommended Client Java Plug-in (JVM/JRE) For Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2)     (Doc ID 465234.1)
Shouldn't matter too much (for minor version vs. family version) since all Java applets are run using the latest version of the JRE software that is installed on the system.
    2. The error
"An error occurred:oracle.disco.oem.configuration.DiscoConfigurationException: Cannot find element: configuration Base Exception: The requested Entity was not found. Entity Path system/configuration not valid. Check log to see if the PlugIn was loaded Resolution: Contact Oracle Support. "
This seems to indicate that something corrupted the Application Server Control plugin. Applying CP6 likely laid down a new correct file. You are right it likely could have been resolved also by rolling back and re-applying the same cumulative path.. This may have been caused by modifying the UIX files. I don't think it is related to the configuration.xm, if you had a bad line in there, you would see an xml parsing error.
    3. Speaking of UIX files.
"Lastly, he had to modify the discovererplus_config.uix so that the Java Plug-in drop-down on the Discoverer Plus configuration page would show the Java 1.6 plug-in option. I did not see much documentation on this step."
Just a "heads-up" / reminder for you to document your change in the uix file as any new patch installed after this will overwrite the UIX file. You are correct, there really is not documentation on changing that hard-coded version number in Application Server Control. It likely should have been developed generically with no version number hard-coded. Probably should be an enhancement request.

    Steve

  • JVM vs JRE vs Java Plug-In and Yahoo Chat

    Hi
I am a little confused as to what is required in the browser to run an applet.
Do I require JVM installed in my browser?
Do I require Java Plug-In installed in my browser?
Do I require JVM installed in my browser?
What is the difference between these three?
My second question is about the version of JDK to use while developing Java Applets. I am planning to make a Chat Application similar to Yahoo chat. For that I made a beta version using JDK 1.4.2 but now the problem is that most of the client browsers have old version installed for e.g. 1.1.4 by Microsoft or 1.2 by Sun.
In this case almost every user that uses my chat applet has to download the latest version from http://java.sun.com/getjava otherwise it the chat applet doesn't work on their browser. And I don't want this to happen because most of the time it takes ages to download and install the latest Java version on client browser. Yesterday on Pentimum 4 having 512 MB RAM and Windows 98 it took almost 45 minutes to download and install which is unacceptable.
If you see the Yahoo chat http://chat.yahoo.com you will see that it is developed in such a way that it supports almost all the browserd without having to install the latest version. This is what I want to achieve and I am looking from your input as to how do I make sure that the client doesn't need to install the latest version (or atleast very few clients need to install latest version). Do I need to make this chat application in an old JDK version for e.g. 1.1.6?

ooppss....I little mistake in my above post. The third question is
Do I require JRE installed in my browser to run applet?

  • Ask your question.how to unblock java plug in

Restart browsers after installing. The plugin is no longer blocked after updating.

  • Authentication issue about java plug-in

    Hi all:
Since it is a urgent issue and I really need some help,I post the same problem again .Here is my problem description:
I have a website hosted on a Microsoft IIS web server, the web server name is win2003stdbase1.Because of some custom needs, the website must use Kerberos authentication. Other authentication method such as NTLM will fail. The website contains a jar file.
When a client use IE to visit a html page containning a java applet on that site, the java plug-in launches and a dialog box pop up.Here is the Details of the dialog box:
    Title: Password Needed - Networking
    Server: win2003stdbase1/192.168.0.43
    Scheme: ntlm
    Use name:
    Password:
    Domain:
Even I input the right user name and password, the dialog keeps poping ups.
Suspect that the java plug-in use ntlm and it case the authentiaction failure. Can we conifgure the java plug-in to use Kerberos authentication type? And how to do it?
If I did not explain the problem clearly enough, please let me know.
Also any other suggestion about the issue are welcome.

You should always use the latest Java version. Older versions have security vulnerabilities and should not be used. You do not need Java Console extension and they may also not work anyway.

we are using dynamic java versioning for the JRE, the following is also from my formsweb.cfg configuration file. Please note, it is set to 1.5 and higher, so if you have 1.6_13 JRE on the clients, the following will still work. There is a recent whitepaper on OTN dated January 2009 (Oracle 10gR2 Forms Services - Using Sun's Java Plug-in), which also provides detailed information on using Sun JRE.

The only common thread we can find is when looking at the IE8 add-on list the Java plug-in doesn't look quite right. The name column will show "Java Plug-in 1.6.0_19" but the version column lists 1.6.0.7. Has anyone seen that where the name of the Java plug-in add-on doesn't match the version column? I still can't repro the version mismatch issue yet and we've only seen it on a handful of machines so far. However, we are getting ready to rollout IE8 to our enterprise and I want to get a handle on this issue.
I have found two workarounds so far. One is to the disable the Java Plug-in with the version mismatch issue. Then it will fall back on one of the other JRE versions installed. The second workaround is to install the latest version of JRE which also resolves the issue. Seems like a no brainer but in our environment we have requirements for specific versions of JRE and simply pushing out the latest version to everyone may break the other apps.
Anyone heard of this behaviour before?

    - Open the [Java Control Panel|http://pscode.org/player.jnlp] *(<- link).*
    - Close the Java Cache Viewer (that opens on top of it).
    - Go to the Java tab.
    - Click View.
    - (Disable all but the JRE version you wish to test.)

Here, the "Name" column is not showing any version information.

  • Java plug in not working

I have updated the latest Java to 6.0.220.4 and installed 32bit and 64 bit versions but the plug in keeps on crashing with Firefox 4 windows 7 ultimate

You have installed it but you haven't enabled it. Open this app:
    Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.app
