Lateste update to my system resulted in my Word crashing on saving or closing documents.
Yosemite has been working fine for me overall; however, yesterday there was an update to my system that resulted in my Word 365 crashing as soon as I try to save a document. Any suggestions other than getting rid of Word?
I recently had to wipe my drive and use Time Machine to restore my accounts. No matter how small of a change I make, iWeb 3.0.3 crashes when I save (Problem Report shows up and asks me if I want to reset and I do). I checked the Domain.sites2 file and permissions are:
system: R&W
admin: R&W
everyone: Read Only
I just checked the permissions for Domain.sites2 in Time Machine before the restoration and found my user account in there as R&W. I suspect this might be the problem, but I'm not sure. Permissions are a spooky thing for me.
Does anyone know of any solution? I use iWeb for my business and really cannot afford to not make changes.
FYI, I checked console right after the crash and found these messages:

My imovie doesn't open after the latest update of the system
have recently updated both iMovie as well as Mavericks OS and now I am having trouble opening iMovie. When I click on the icon, it bounces for a few seconds as normal but then nothing loads. When I left click on the icon I am given options including Force Quit of which I click. It then asks if I wish to send a report and below are the details of the report. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't restore backup up after latest update in operating system
after latest ipad update I canot restore backup. Ipad version is 7.0.6 (11B651) ITunes version 11.1.5.5
It attempts to restore from backup for about 30 minutes then stops and displays a message "ITunes cannot restore backup it is not compatable with IPad being restoredSince your profile above mentions iOS 5.1.1, I wonder if you are trying to restore to an original iPad.
If not, I wonder if you are trying to restore to some iPad that is not running iOS 7.0.6. You cannot do that. -

I had rebooted prior to running the pacman -Syu and everything was fine. I rebooted after the updates and was presented with a console login instead of a KDE login. I tried startx at the console login and was presented with errors about my ~/.xinitrc . I found exec startkde commented out and replaced with exec wmaker. I never installed wmaker or gnome or anything else, only KDE. I made the change and tried startx again. I got another error that /usr/lib/libexpat.so.0 could not be found. I created a softlink in /usr/lib from libexpat.so to libexpart.so.0 . I attemped another startx and finally was presented with my KDE desktop. The fonts seem a little different, but I am not sure if this is me thinking something is wrong or if there is a font problem. They seem smaller and thinner to me. Everytime I perform a pacman -Syu I do received this error:
fontconfig: local (2.3.95-1) appears to be newer than repo (current/2.3.2-7)
I think I added that fontconfig package a few months ago to prevent another problem but I do not recall. I receive no font loading problems in my Xorg.log file or when it starts. Anyone else?[ronald@linux-pressh ~]$ pacman -Qo /usr/lib/libexpat.so.0
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.0 is owned by expat 1.95.8-2
You do not have to create the link to libexpat, you need to install expat if you have not done so, or reinstall if you have done so (in that case the package seems te got corrupted)
About the fontconfig message, is not an error, just a message. If you want do downgrade to the repo version, you have to manually do: pacman -S fontconfig -
so after i download a word document, i am unable to open it. I get a box with a list of options to convert the text into another file. Not sure why this is happening, i've gone to the preferences and set it to always open .doc files with word, but it's not working. Can you please tell me what to do?
I believe it is 2008 that I have. Does that make a difference? Do i need to pay again for the 2011 version? How do I do an update for word?

The latest update to itunes has resulted in a whole series of runtime errors (R6034). Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library states it is being accessed incorrectly. I am also told that Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start. Additional messages suggest the error is in itunes.exe and ituneshelper.exe. I also get Error 7 (Windows error 1114). Anyone got any ideas how to overcome this (these) problems?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

IPhoto '11 latest update (9.1.3) crashes during import.....
the latest update of iPhoto '11 (9.1.3) is crashing during import on both my Macbook and iMac.
The crash seems to happen before the event is auto-split, and before the latest import is registered (only a much earlier import shows up in the "Recent->Last Import" collection.
This latest crash on my iMac has left me with an event visible only in the main "Library->Photos" collection, but not in the events list. In this case the thread deleting the photos on the SD card was only partly done as well so I manually removed the remaining already imported but latent photos from the SD card before returning it to my camera.
I cannot auto-split it either (it covers 19 days, with over 1400 photos).
The earlier crash on my Macbook did something similar (it was a partial import of my trip photos and I elected to keep them on the card that time), but I was able somehow to auto-split the one big event despite it not being in the events list and from then on everything seemed to look OK again on that system.
Both crash reports have been sent to Apple.
I may have found a possible workaround by selecting all the photos in the phantom event but via flagging them, then creating a new event from the flagged photos. Kinda hokey but it seems to have eliminated the phantom event at the same time due to the fact photos can only be in one event at a time.
iPhoto did crash one more time during this process though, and I've not yet confirmed if everything's OK since.If both libraries on both machines are crashing while importing the same set of images, then it suggests there's something wrong with one of those images.

Whats up with the system lockups just frustrated as to why. I could be checking mail, surfing the web or using PS Elements 9. Makes no difference what I am doing it occationaly locks up and requires a cold boot (windows talk).
I don't think so, Lion with the latest updates is running fine for most of us.
Post the log for your next lockup or the previous one if you can isolate the timeframe.

Just to rule it out, when you launch TVSU, open up Services and check the state of the System Update service.
I'm running the latest version of TVSU, which autoupdated itself the other day, and it's working fine. Under Services, when TVSU is not running, the service is not running. For reference, the service's start-up type is listed as Manual (Trigger start), and as soon as I launch TVSU (from the Control Panel) the service goes into a running state. When I quit, it stops.
If you don't see the service start, a test might be to start it and then try launching TVSU.

Trying to install the latest update for itunes...error received "service apple mobile device failed to start. verify thay you have sufficient priveleges to start system services"...? I have uninstalled and tried to reinstall???

Has anyone experienced an issue with the latest update to iTunes (11.2.0.115) for Windows where iTunes pegs out the processor at 97%, 98%, and holds there for maybe 15 minutes before dropping to 50%. During that time, the system is basically useless. You just have to ride it out. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

This is on a MBP 13-inch, Early 2011 running 10.6.8.
It causes the machine to freeze at intermitent periods of times and reports the following error message in the console:
com.apple.launchd [1] (com.apple.SystemStarter) Failed to count the number of files in "/System/Library/StartupItems" : No such file or directory
There have been posts on how to fix this, but why is it being deleted by these updates?I have the same console mesages repeating ad-nasium as you do. What is interesting is I do have the StartuoItems directory but it is empty. The problem I have is that the log-in window comes up as normal, but I can not type in it for about 5-8 seconds. This has started after the latest updates which you mention. Don't know if this issue is related or not. Have deleted the loginwindows and loginitems preferences to no effect.

I install latest update from my ipad 2, after the upgrade tablet running slowly. Probably the system requirements too high for my device. I think that users with older models should be able to install IOS 6.x.x on their devices or consider buying devices from other manufacturers ...

Sorry for my english, i am from Russia.I have a similar issue. I recently purchased an iPad Mini, and I started off by backing it up from the apps I had on my iPhone. Now, I have a number of apps that never downloaded and that I don't want on the iPad. Some of these are apps that I don't need, while others are the iPhone versions of apps. There are something like 23 apps that I have no use for, but iTunes tries to install every time I connect. I've also tried clicking the 'Will Install' buttons. There's no way to delete these apps from the iPad without first installing them, as far as I can see, and there's no way to NOT install them, in iTunes.
It''s not just annoying, it's causing problems with installation of larger files and movies. Now, every time I sync to the computer, I get a warning that I'm over capacity by 580 MB, and larger apps will not install! Clicking Revert and a bunch of other things doesn't work, either. And I can't just delete some of the apps, because I or my wife use them on our phones! -

Just the fact that there are so many forum issues tell me that I may have been wrong in my advice to friends to seek Creative unit vs an iPod.
This is simple technology and should not be so difficult or so convoluted (decepti've?) in compatability issues with new software releases, new computer purchases etc...... there seems to be a serious lack of commitment to being a 'value ad' type of company. My original disc works fine !!
