Leading in combo box textfield

Why the heck doesn't the leading get set on the textField in the combobox! ahhh!   The text format is being set correctly because the font/color/size are all good, and the dropdown is all good.  It's just the textField..
private var tf_arial_enabled:TextFormat = new TextFormat(new ArialRegular().fontName, 16, 0xea8443, null, null, null, null, null, 'left', null, null, null, 2);
theComboBox.setStyle("textFormat", tf_arial_enabled);
ttheComboBox.textField.setStyle("textFormat", tf_arial_enabled);
theComboBox.dropdown.setRendererStyle("textFormat", tf_arial_enabled);
theComboBox.setStyle("embedFonts", true);
theComboBox.textField.setStyle("embedFonts", true);
theComboBox.dropdown.setRendererStyle("embedFonts", true);
I haven't been here in awhile, sorry for code formatting if there ends up being a problem after posting

A hack
theComboBox.textField.setStyle("textPadding", -2);

  • Flex 2.0 - Combo box /TextField Population

    Hi,
    This is my first post on this forum. I have downloaded a
    trial version of Flex 2.0, and I am creating a small application. I
    have a combo box that has a few items( around 6 options), when
    these items are selected a text box should update with text read in
    from a txt file. I am able to get the combo working, but I don't
    know how to read the text in from the txt file, so each option will
    load in it's related text content from a txf file. How do I trigger
    this from the combo ?
    I have looked in at the help, but they say you have to
    preload and use URL Loader...is this true ?...How to go about it ?
    Please help, you can contact me at [email protected]

  • Newb deserving assistance with Adobe Javascript (check boxes and combo boxes)

    Hi, I'm a newb when it comes to javascript (using adobe acrobat pro 6.0).
    I am working on a form that will allow me to autofill checkboxes based off of information chosen. Ideally, I would like to have a selection from a combo box autofill/auto checkmark check boxes. Alternatively, I would be willing to just have different selections presented with check boxes that when filled, would auto checkmark other check boxes (I know how to do this one, but I am not sure how to clear the check boxes if the initial one is unchecked).
    I have the action button tied to the mouse up function. This just errors out.
    var Citrix = this.getField("Citrix")
    var Appro = this.getField("Appro")
    var SAS = this.getField("SAS")
    if (event.target.value=="Yes") {
    Citrix.checkThisBox = true
    Appro.checkThisBox = true
    SAS.checkThisBox = true
    else {
    Citrix.checkThisBox = false
    Appro.checkThisBox = false
    SAS.checkThisBox = false
    I have this that works, but I don't know how to clear the buttons when "Associate" is unchecked.
    if(this.getField("Associate").isBoxChecked(0));
    this.getField("Citrix").checkThisBox(0, true);
    this.getField("Appro").checkThisBox(0, true);
    this.getField("SAS").checkThisBox(0, true);
    The other way I was working on it, was to use a combo box to autofill/checkmark check boxes. But this code doesn't work either.
    function calculateTextField()
    // get the value of the combo box
    var comboValue = this.getField("Select").value;
    // get the state of the checkbox
    var isChecked = (this.getField("Citrix").value == "Yes");
    var textFieldValue = "";
    console.println(comboValue);
    if (isChecked)
    if (comboValue == 0)
    textFieldValue = "";
    if (comboValue == "Associate")
    (this.getField("Citrix").value == "Yes");
    else if (comboValue == "Specialist")
    (this.getField("Citrix").value == "Yes");
    else if (comboValue == "Team Leader")
    (this.getField("Citrix").value == "No");
    else
    (this.getField("Citrix").value == "No");
    else
    textFieldValue = "";
    this.getField("Select").value = textFieldValue;
    Can anyone please assist me with this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Gene,
    Thank you for the response. Are you saying that my initial formula should look more like this; ?
    var Citrix = this.getField("Citrix")
    var Appro = this.getField("Appro")
    var SAS = this.getField("SAS")
    if (event.target.value=="Yes") {
    Citrix.checkThisBox = true
    Appro.checkThisBox = true
    SAS.checkThisBox = true
    else {
    if (event.target.value=="Off")
    Citrix.checkThisBox = true
    Appro.checkThisBox = true
    SAS.checkThisBox = true
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Combo box popup width adjusting no longer work in 1.0.6_26-b03

    Previously, I was able to adjusting combo box popup's width, by referring to the technique described in [http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2010/11/28/combo-box-popup/|http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2010/11/28/combo-box-popup/]. During that time, I was using 1.0.6_24-b07.
    However, after I update my Java runtime to 1.0.6_26-b03, things broke.
    Here is the screen shoot.

    [http://www.jroller.com/santhosh/entry/make_jcombobox_popup_wide_enough|http://www.jroller.com/santhosh/entry/make_jcombobox_popup_wide_enough]
    The popup's is having enough width to show all items. However, it is not perfect still, as the width is little too much. I still can see some extra space at the tailing of the list.
    The workaround is as follow.
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.util.Vector;
    // got this workaround from the following bug:

  • Combo box in "Filter by Custom Properties"

    Hi to all,
    I create some custom metadata properties  properties in order to classifie the documents in KM.
    This metadata properties has a set of Allowed Values, so the value is selectable with a combo-box in Detail box of KM.
    Now I have to enable the Filter by Custom Properties with the combobox in place of textfields.
    How to do?
    Regards,
    Giampaolo

    What you want is not the Filter by Custom Properties but the Filter by Predefined Properties.
    In you search options configuration add your properties to the predefined properties list and you'll get your combo-box.
    To configure your search options go to:

  • Combo Box Selection to Change Selection in another Combo Box

    I'm pretty familiar with excel and VBA, but when it comes to Adobe Acrobat, I am lost with Javascript.
    I am creating a form.
    My first field is a combo box named: Rent.booth
    My second field is also a combo box named: County.booth
    I need to know where and how I would implement a java command that states that if Rent.booth = Rent, then County.booth automatically = No.
    If No is selected for Rent.booth, then allow the user to choose any of the 3 values.
    Combo Box Options for Rent.booth:
    Select One
    Rent
    No
    Combo Box Options for County.booth:
    Select One
    Yes
    No
    Any leads would be appreciated.  So far I've only seen the Combo Box to Text box solutions, nothing for Combo box to Combo Box.

    You'll get the best help with Javascript in the Acrobat Scripting forum.

  • Jsp combo box

    Hi,
    I am new to jsps and i would like to know how to check the property value in jsp.
    I would like to create a combo box and based on what they select i would like to show either textfield or combo box. I mean hiding one and showing another one.
    my code looks some thing like this
    <html:select property="search" >
    <html : option value="itemname"></html:option>
    <html : option value="itemnumber"></html:option>
    So if i select "item name" i would like to display one more combo box or if i select "item number" then i would like to display textfield.
    So could some one please suggest me how to check the value and create these fields.
    Appreciate your help,
    Thanks

    You have three options.
    You may submit the form back to the server after the user selects the item name option. The server then generates and sends back to the user a page with the next combo box. Alternatively, if the user selects the item number option, send a new page with the text field.
    You may use JavaScript and DHTML to literally redraw the page depending on the user's choice. This is not Java related and kinda hard to get working just right, so I won't describe how to do it here. If you decide you absolutely must do this option, there are several JavaScript web sites that will gladly give you some sample code in exchange for some credit.
    Lastly, you can redesign your entire form such that you don't need to hide "the other option." I think you'll find that most web sites do it this way. For example, there will be two clearly separated and marked tables, each with their own submit buttons, and one table will say "Find an Item by Name" and the other will say "Find an Item by Number."
    I personally like the last option best because I can see at a glance what all of my options are, as opposed to having to click buttons to see what I can do, and then the back button if that's not what I want. I will admit that your suggestion would look cool, though.
    Sorry, I wish I could be of more positive help.

  • I have NO scripting experience but am attempting to create "cascading combo box" with two boxes.

    I have copied and edited to the best of my ability several options but keep getting errors, mostly illegal character on line...
    I do not have LifeCycle, merely Adobe Acrobat IX (and a trial version of Acrobat XI PRO) and the extent of my knowledge ends at placing fields, text, etc. . .
    The scenario is as follows:
    On the document, there are two combo boxes
    1- "DeptName"
    2- "Position"
    The goal is to be able to select one of 15 different departments, and based on that selection, choose from between 2 to 15 different positions for that corresponding department.
    Below is what I was hopeful would work, but alas - FAIL!!
    If anyone could assist it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
    myDeptNameValues =
    "ADMINISTRATION – RSADMN (8171)",
    "BEVERAGE – RSBEV (8174)",
    "CATERING – RCCAT (8959)",
    "CLUB – RSCLB (8174)",
    "CONCESSIONS – RCCON (8961)",
    "CONCESSIONS – RSCON (8173)",
    "CULINARY – RSKIT (8177)",
    "FACILITIES – RSFAC (6925)",
    "RETAIL – RSRET (8175)",
    "SUITES – RSSTE (8177)",
    "VENDING – RSVND (8173)",
    "WAREHOUSE – RSWHS (8173)"
    this.getField("DeptName").setItems(myDeptNameValues);
    var DeptData =
    ADMINISTRATION – RSADMN (8171):["Teller","Security"],
    BEVERAGE – RSBEV (8174):["Bartender","Barback"],
    CATERING – RCCAT (8959):["Banquet Server",”Banquet Captain"],
    CLUB – RSCLB (8174):["Cashier","Counter","Cook","In Seat Server","Runner","Stand Manager"],
    CONCESSIONS – RCCON (8961):["Counter","Cashier","Cook","Runner","Beer Attendant/SMC","Stand Lead","Supervisor"],
    CONCESSIONS – RSCON (8173):["Counter","Cashier","Cook","Runner","Beer Attendant/SMC","Stand Lead","Supervisor"],

    VENDING – RSVND (8173):["Vendor","Vendor Filler","Alcohol Compliance Supervisor","Auditor","Level Supervisor","Senior Supervisor"],
    WAREHOUSE – RSWHS (8173):["Runner","Supervisor"]
    function SetFieldValues(cDeptName)
    this.getField("Position").setItems(DeptData[cDeptName]);
    The above code was placed in the document script.  Within the format area of the "DeptName" box, I have the following code placed in the keystroke script.
    if( event.willCommit )
    if(event.value == "")
    this.getField("box2").clearItems();
    else
    SetFieldValues(event.value);
    I have spent the past four days, more than 18 hours in the last two alone trying to nail this down and I can't explain how completely defeated I feel, not to mention frustrated.
    Again, thanks for your help!!

    I suppose I am not meant to figure this out.  I am trying my absolute hardest to accomplish compiling this document without having to resort to asking someone to do it for me as I have noticed in a few other threads, but it just seems to get more frustrating.  I have accomplished the first thing I set out to do and I completely appreciate your assistance with that.  My issue now is that i have other text fields I want to automatically fill based on the selection of the very same DeptName combo box.  I can make the cascading/dependent box work with the initial DeptName box, or all the additional text fields with the DeptName box, but cannot seem to accomplish having them work together.  I have been working daily, reading blogs/forums, watching videos all in an effort to complete this before it's needed on Feb. 2.
    Is it possible to make 7 text fields and a combo box(B) fill based on the selection of a separate combo box (A), and then have 5 more text fields automatically fill based on the selection from the secondary box (B)?  I can make it all happen individually, meaning only the text fields for one box or the combo box (A to b) but not in conjunction.

  • Combo box browser issue

    Hi I currently have a simple combo box compenent with three options to choose fonts. It works fine when i test it, but it doesnt drop down in the browser.
    This is the code
    [AS]
    LBtextMenu.LBfontList.textField.setStyle("textFormat", tf);
    LBtextMenu.LBfontList.dropdown.setRendererStyle("textFormat", tf);

    LBtextMenu.LBfontList.addItem( {label: "Bauhaus 93" } );
    var LBnewFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
        LBnewFormat.font = "Arial";
        LBnewFormat.size = 12;
    var LBnewFormat01:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
        LBnewFormat01.font = "Bauhaus 93";
        LBnewFormat01.size = 12;
    var LBnewFormat02:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
        LBnewFormat02.font = "Calibri";

    If anyone can help it is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

    use the swf embedding code published by flash.
    if you already are using that html, what's your url and what needs to be done to see the problem, if it's not obvious.

  • Making combo box write variables

    Hi
    I am a dynamic site newbie, but have been making simple animations with Flash for some years.
    I have got a friend to give me a leg up to create a flash page full of input text boxes that write to a text file via PHP and are then dispayed in dynamic text boxes. ( http://www.thepastafactory.co.uk/forsale.html ) I want to replace some of the imput text boxes with combo boxes. eg if the combo box has the options of say "rigid" or "trailer" it would write which ever was selected in the text file so this would be displayed in the dynamic text box for the end user to see. It seems very simple but I have looked all over the options for combo boxes and can see no mention of variables.
    Can anyone explain to me in simple terms how I can achieve this.
    Many thanks
    Ralph

    As a simple example for yourself, open a new file and add a combo box and a dynamic textfield to the stage.  Assign them instance names of my_cb and cbTextField, respectively.  Then add an actions layer and place the following code in it...
    // Add Items to List.
    my_cb.addItem({data:1, label:"First Item"});
    my_cb.addItem({data:2, label:"Second Item"});
    my_cb.addItem({data:3, label:"Third Item"});
    my_cb.addItem({data:4, label:"Fourth Item"});
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    listenerObject.change = function(eventObject:Object) {
          trace(my_cb.selectedItem.data);
          cbTextField.text = my_cb.selectedItem.label;
    my_cb.addEventListener("change", listenerObject);

  • Drop down menu or combo box in jtable

    Hi there I nee urgent help I have a jtable and I am collecting information to populate the table dynamically, the problem is I some of the strings that populate certain cells is longer the the width of the cell in a particular column, I thought I could use a combo box and split the strings up so I could have some type of drop down menu showing the information, but when I populate the combo box and instantiate the defaultcell renderer with the combobox it sets all cells in that column with the same information I would like to have it displaying the actual information for every row within that column
    or if you can give me any ideas as to how I can avoid this happening or maybe an alternative method of showing these long strings in the table some kind of drop down.
    Kind Regards Michael

    the problem is I some of the strings that populate certain cells is longer the the width of the cell in a particular column,Set a tooltip to display the entire text of the cell. Here is a simple example;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class TableToolTip extends JFrame
         public TableToolTip()
              Object[][] data = { {"1234567890qwertyuiop", "A"}, {"2", "B"}, {"3", "C"} };
              String[] columnNames = {"Number","Letter"};
              JTable table = new JTable(data, columnNames)
                   public String getToolTipText( MouseEvent e )
                        int row = rowAtPoint( e.getPoint() );
                        int column = columnAtPoint( e.getPoint() );
                        Object value = getValueAt(row, column);
                        return value == null ? null : value.toString();
              JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane( table );
              getContentPane().add( scrollPane );
         public static void main(String[] args)
              TableToolTip frame = new TableToolTip();
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              frame.setSize(150, 100);
              frame.setLocationRelativeTo( null );
              frame.setVisible(true);
    }If you want to get fancier than you could set the tooltip text only when the width of the text is greater than the width of the column. Here is an example of this is done with a text field. You would need to modify the code to refer the to table for the text string and the TableColumn for the width.:
    JTextField textField = new JTextField(15)
         public String getToolTipText(MouseEvent e)
              FontMetrics fm = getFontMetrics( getFont() );
              String text = getText();
              int textWidth = fm.stringWidth( text );
              return (textWidth > getSize().width ? text : null);
    textField.setToolTipText(" ");
    I thought I could use a combo box and split the strings up so I could have some type of drop down menu showing the informationIf you want to proceed with this approach then check out this posting:

  • Problems in editable Combo Box

    Hello,
    I have an editable Combo Box and an action listener associated with the Combo Box. I also have a "Store" button that stores the edited item in the Combo Box and an action listener associated with the button too. After I have selected an item in the Combo Box and edited it, I press the "Store Button". Instead of going to the Store_button_action performed method, it goes to the ComboBox_action performed method and after running it, it stops. Which means it does not run the Store_button_action performed method at all.
    Another thing I have noticed is that when ever I select any item from this Combo Box it gets highlighted in blue, is there some way around this? I want the cursor to be blinking at the beginning/end of the selected Item.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ibha

    Hi,
    you can use a Textfield as editor component for a ComboBox:
    create a class implementing javax.swing.ComboBoxEditor with an attribute type Textfield. This TextField uses your PlainDocument.
    In getEditorComponent() you return the TextField.
    Hope this helps,
    Phil

  • How to populate data in the data table on combo box change event

    hi
    i am deepak .
    i am very new to JSF.
    my problem is i want to populate data in the datatable on the combo box change event.
    for example ---
    combo box has name of the city. when i will select a city
    the details of the city should populate in the datatable. and if i will select another city then the datatable should change accordingly..
    its urgent
    reply as soon as possible
    thanks in advance

    i am using Rational Application Developer to develop my application.
    i am using a combo box and i am assigning cityName from the SDO.
    and i am declaring a variable in the pageCode eg.
    private String cityName;
    public void setCityName(String cityName){
    this.cityName = cityName;
    public String getCityName(){
    return cityName;
    <h:selectOneMenu id="menu1" styleClass="selectOneMenu" value="#{pc_Test1.loginID}" valueChangeListener="#{pc_Test1.handleMenu1ValueChange}">
                        <f:selectItems
                             value="#{selectitems.pc_Test1.usercombo.LOGINID.LOGINID.toArray}" />
                   </h:selectOneMenu>
                   <hx:behavior event="onchange" target="menu1" behaviorAction="get"
                        targetAction="box1"></hx:behavior>
    and also i am declaring a requestParam type variable named city;
    and at the onChangeEvent i am writing the code
    public void handleMenu1ValueChange(ValueChangeEvent valueChangedEvent) {
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Map requestScope = ext.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{requestScope}").getValue(context);
    requestScope.put("login",(String)valueChangedEvent.getNewValue());
    and also i am creating another SDO which is used to populate data in datatable and in this SDO in the where clause i am using that requestParam .
    it is assigning value in the pageCode variable and in the requestParam but it is not populating the dataTable. i don't no why??
    it is possible that i may not clear at this point.
    please send me the way how my problem can be solved.
    thanks in advance

  • How to Bind a Combo Box so that it retrieves and display content corresponding to the Id in a link table and populates itself with the data in the main table?

    I am developing a desktop application in Wpf using MVVM and Entity Frameworks. I have the following tables:
    1. Party (PartyId, Name)
    2. Case (CaseId, CaseNo)
    3. Petitioner (CaseId, PartyId) ............. Link Table
    I am completely new to .Net and to begin with I download Microsoft's sample application and
    following the pattern I have been successful in creating several tabs. The problem started only when I wanted to implement many-to-many relationship. The sample application has not covered the scenario where there can be a any-to-many relationship. However
    with the help of MSDN forum I came to know about a link table and managed to solve entity framework issues pertaining to many-to-many relationship. Here is the screenshot of my application to show you what I have achieved so far.
    And now the problem I want the forum to address is how to bind a combo box so that it retrieves Party.Name for the corresponding PartyId in the Link Table and also I want to populate it with Party.Name so that
    users can choose one from the dropdown list to add or edit the petitioner.

    Hello Barry,
    Thanks a lot for responding to my query. As I am completely new to .Net and following the pattern of Microsoft's Employee Tracker sample it seems difficult to clearly understand the concept and implement it in a scenario which is different than what is in
    the sample available at the link you supplied.

    If e IsNot Nothing Then
    Return New vmPetitioner(e)
    End If
    Return Nothing
    End Function
    End Class
    End Namespace
    And final the code behind of the view vPetitioner:
    <UserControl x:Class="CCIS.View.Case.vPetitioner"
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
    xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006"
    xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008"
    xmlns:vm="clr-namespace:CCIS.ViewModel.Case"
    mc:Ignorable="d"
    Width="300">
    <UserControl.Resources>
    <ResourceDictionary Source=".\CompactFormStyles.xaml" />
    </UserControl.Resources>
    <Grid>
    <Border Style="{StaticResource DetailBorder}">
    <Grid>
    <Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" />
    <ColumnDefinition Width="*" />
    </Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Text="Petitioner:" />
    <ComboBox Grid.Column="1" Width="240" SelectedValuePath="." SelectedItem="{Binding Path=tblParty}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PetitionerLookup}" DisplayMemberPath="fldName" />
    </Grid>
    </Border>
    </Grid>
    </UserControl>
    The problem, presumably, seems to be is that the binding path "PetitionerLookup" of the ItemSource of the Combo box in the view vPetitioner exists in a different ViewModel vmCase which serves as an ObservableCollection for MainViewModel. Therefore,
    what I need to Know is how to route the binding path if it exists in a different ViewModel?
    Sir, I look forward to your early reply bringing a workable solution to the problem I face.
    Warm Regards,
    Arun
